Roslara Apartments.....A Lovely Stay
"Just returned from Gran Canaria where we had the pleasure of staying in Roslara for a week. We were very nervous about staying here as we had read the bad reviews, however, we found this place to be clean, beautifully decorated and overall very pleasant. When we arrived we met a very friendly Spanish lady who checked us in and offered us lots of information about Puerto Rico and the Europa centre. The bar man Fonzie is very friendly and made us feel very welcome, and the view from the pool/bar area is breath taking, due to the location of it being at the top of a mountain. I met a British couple who own a property across the road from Roslara who came over regularly to snack at the pool bar and they informed me that the bar had previously been run by a couple who had become alcoholics and that the place had recieved a big make over in recent years. for example robberies had taken place, this has been addressed by a security guard being on duty at all times. I can honestly say that I would definitely go back here, we paid a pittance to stay there and as far as I am concerned it was far far better than I expected."

Ignore the bad reviews!
"Ignore the bad reviews, i have stayed there a few times and it is very basic, but is great if you just need to shower and sleep there! The cleaner is lovely, the lady at the shop there speaks very good English and the bar at the couple are very happy people and are good fun. "

"Arrived Friday afternoon to be told they had problem with pipes and my partner and I would have to stay at their sister hotel for one night. Problem with pipes is spanish for OVERBOOKED. Finally booked in on Saturday, almost immediately we were warned by other guests that there had been several robberies in the previous weeks and to make sure windows and doors were always shut and locked. During our stay the police had been, to investigate, and the thieves returned to try their luck again. Security is non existant and the management don't seem concerned. Room was basic, not enough equipment to self cater. Would not recommend. Dave & Chris."

Best appartments we have ever been to!
"I totally disagree with all these bad reviews... we were actually dreading going with all the bad reviews and okay it was up a very steep hill but the best appartments ever, the balcony/terrace was absolutely huge, a suntrap between 8am and 8pm when the sun went down. Alright there was a little building work going on next door but there was minimal noise. It was the most peaceful holiday i have ever been on and if you want any entertainment you walk 10 mins up the hill to the europa centre or take a taxi for 3 euros to the buzzing commercial centre in porto rico. I was on my own with my two teenage daughters (13 and 15) and we walked down to the beautiful beach every day without a fuss but took a taxi up a couple of times when we had been shopping... The appartments on the whole were really spacious: -the kitchenette was really practical with everything you need to prepare a meal -the bedrooms were nice and clean, the beds were really comfortable and the window let in air through the slats but did not let any insects in which is great -the bathroom was a good size and also clean, there was always hot water and the shower was very powerful -the living area was big and nice if you wanted to sit with a bottle of sangria the towels and bed linen were changed 3 times during the week we were there. the swimming pool was great for when you needed to cool down and was also clean and there was a nice peaceful atmosphere around th pool. all of the staff were friendly including the barstaff who were scottish. overall probably one of my favourite holidays and APARTMENTS. i would reccoment this holiday to anybody, perfect for families or couples, even young groups.... i am sure you will have fun when you stay here :)"

You get what you pay for
"Our apartment was basic but clean and tidy the kitchen was equipted reasonably well all things you would need kettle pots pans etc.The balcony was huge. The maids called every other day to change towels empty rubbish,we found the staff helpful abd if you had a problem they tried their best to rectify it. Andy and Annes bar has a friendly atmosphere both are very helful and there snacks are well worth a try and reasonably priced too. If people want 5* then pay the price. We had a relaxing stay at the Roslara."

dont know what people are moaning about
"we just got back from the Roslara apartments and yes they are basic but if you pay for basic then you have to accept basic. We had read really bad reviews before we went and were quite worried what we were going to find....when we got there about 12.30pm and were given our keys by the lady at reception (nice helpful lady), we were in apatment 33, we were expecting a dirty smelly apartment crawling with all sorts of insects, dirty laundry and jammied doors...in fact the apartment was very clean, the towels and bedding were clean and there was no sign of any insects at all....the bar which is run by a lovely couple called Andy and Anne, was a great place to spend the day before going out at night, we had a laugh with everyone who was there and not one of the people we met said there was anything wrong with their apartment...I think the bad reviews are written by people who have apartments near by and are trying to get people to go to theirs instead.....ALL IN ALL A BRILLIANT PLACE BRILLIANT PEOPLE AND WE ARE DEFINATELY GOING BACK....those who want five star holidays should pay for five star holidays....."

"DO NOT STAY HERE. We took a late deal, got to admit it was cheap, but a 3 star should stay 3 star.We had no meet and greet, there was no reception staff there and the bar manager was arrogent and not very helpful whilst blowing cigar smoke in my pregnant partners face.we entered the room to find plaster falling from the wall and the curtain trying to escape from the room. the windows were all smeared and there are a gaping hole in the bathroom door as if someone had been hacking there way out. the lights didnt work in the living room which was a plus because if they did we would have seen how dirty the room acctually was.the bathroom had more dirt than the plant pots and as for self catering, if you can cook on a ring burner with a plastic coffee filter holder then its right up your street VERY Discusting over all. i would expect to live like this so why should i have to pay to holiday like this.NEVER USE THIS PLACE. YOU ARE GUARENTEED to be dissapointed. "

I would just like to warn anyone who is ...
"I would just like to warn anyone who is thinking of going to the Rosalara apartments for a holiday...DONT! It is the worst place i have ever stayed. Me and my fiance turned up at 9 o clock at night to find that the reception wasnt open and there was just a note on the door saying 'your key is in your room, door open, help yourself, welcome!' i did not feel safe here at all, there was no lights in the corridors and our door had a massive chunk out the side of it where it looked like someone had tried to break in . there are about a million(slight exaggeration, but you get the point!) apartments and only about three people staying there at the time. the pool area looked filthy and the place was NOT well maintained at all. The room smelt of dampness as if no one had been there for years. The window had thick black bars across, it was like being in a horrible prison!!! Fortunate for us, we got moved(we complained) and were moved to another hotel the next morning and enjoyed the rest of our holiday. But doubt they would be nice enough to move everyone that complained. To sum it all up, it was awful. Before we went, we decided to read some of the reviews and thought people had exaggerated and didnt worry too much but everything we read was true. DO NOT GO HERE. "

we finally arrived at roslara appartment...
"we finally arrived at roslara appartments at 9.30pm after our cab driver did not know where the appartment was, we was then left at the gate with a small baby and our luggage. Security was no where to be found and we were stranded with no-one to help us. thankfully a local called the security night number and had someone come over to take us to our room. we finally got into the room and we was shocked to see wires hanging out of the wall from the TV, part of the kitchen side ripped off and a big hole in the bedroom door obviously where someone had put their fist through it!! the bed sheets and whole appartment smelt like it had never been cleaned before. after having to baracade the TV so the baby could not pull on the wires we were then supprised to hear someone trying to get into out appartment.. we called security the next day and was told someone would be there in 10 minutes, two hours later still no sight of security. my friend has made a complaint to the reception/supermarket and they finally moved us to the appartments opposite us. to anyone who may read this do NOT stay in the roslara appartments it is absoluty awful! we was also advised to get a safe and prop chairs up agains the main door to stop anyone getting in as there has been quite a few break in's!!!!!!! warning to anyone thinking of going DONT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
