Clean, great location - will go back
"Stayed at the Niza for 2 weeks - rooms are basic but good value for money. Cleaned 5 times per week, and regular change of bedding and towels. Staff very friendly. Pool small but was never too busy. Very near to beach and bars/restaurants. will definitely go back."

great apartments would definately go back!
"Was dreading my stay at the Niza after reading the few reviews. However, we were pleasently surprised when I arrived.
Apartments were cleaned 5 x a week and maid was very polite as was the lady at reception.
Pool cleaned most days and although it isn't the biggest it is a good enough size as there arent many apartments, no bother getting a sun lounger in the morning as it was quite quiet!
Only downfall was wen we arrived at 1am the gate of the apartments was locked as well as the reception as it closes around 6pm. However, we pressed the service button and the security guard arrived in no time to let us in and get our key from recepetion.
Security guard comes to check around every so often during the night to make sure everythings ok.
The apartments are in a great location, only a 2 minute walk to the main centre and a 5 minute walk to the beach.
Would definately reccommend.

DO NOT GO UNLESS YOU LIKE LIVING ON A TRAFFIC ISLAND
"these appartments are fairly okay cleaned regularly and kept niceley. the pool is very small and gets extremelly crowded with no room to swim there are around 20 sunbeds which i found were not an adequate amount. The noise at night was unbearable it was like living on a traffic island and there are cats screeching all night and they are NOT nice friendly cats like you would expect.if you are shopping in perfume shops be carefull because they ripped me off i asked for a perfume and we were negotiating the price and then they finally agreed a lower price i didnt think to look untill i got home but when i did it wasnt what i asked for i got the deodorant which was much cheaper and was ripped off completely.oh and be carefull there are lots of people on the street trying to sell bracelets and sunglases they were selling these magneticc bracelts fot 10euros i was thinking of getting one but decided not to later i seen them in a shop for 5o cents."

"We'd stayed here a few years ago and had an ok holiday. Pretty basic accomm but clean. How things have changed! We arrived in the middle of the night after a long flight delay travelling with a young baby to find a travel cot which had seen better days, a ripped plastic covered mattress with it but no cot or bed sheets for it. Great putting a baby down to sleep on a plastic sheet in the heat! The bath had a big rusty hole in the bottom of it, not great for adults but certainly not for bathing a baby in! After being in the apt for a short time my son who was crawling on the floor was absolutely filthy dirty, the floors throughout the apt had neither been swept or mopped for our arrival. At the very least you expect a clean apt when you arrive! We complained and were eventually moved to another apt but the dirty floors were still a problem. We saw the maids cleaning other apts on our second day and they were using the same dirty bucket of water to clean one apt after the other! We refused the cleaner the first day and decided to clean the floors ourselves, the first time i've ever had to clean an apt having just arrived. The rest of the holiday we had to more or less hang around when the maids were in to make sure it was a clean bucket of water they used! On speaking to our rep it was a common complaint in the complex. We only really booked to go back here as our tour op advertised them as refurbished. What a joke! The only refurbishment was a new kitchen and individual safety dep boxes in each apt. Same old furniture, bathroom, beds etc. Sockets hanging out of the wall showing live wires, screws sticking quarter of an inch out of the headboards! Not great on the old health and safety front! They are however replacing the patio doors. Shame they did it while we were there, both apts either side of us were done in the middle of the day, circular saws, hammering, drilling and cutting of glass. A total nightmare noise and vibration wise as it woke our son up on two seperate days. Reception not interested, we just had to put up with it. Doors they're putting in don't seem all that much more secure than previous doors and while on the subject of security if you're sleeping in the main row of apts in the back bedroom open your window/shutters at your peril as you can basically climb out of the window straight onto the street. No great locks on the shutters. And if you have the mishap to be robbed and lose your safety dep key then the reception charges 30 euros just to swop the safe doors with another apt! You can hire fans however most have been retrieved from those purchased and left by customers, they then charge you 35 euros a week to hire one! You can buy one from the shopping centre from about 20 euros and it's yours to keep! 35 euros to keep your apt on till 8pm subject to avail, what a rip off! We got an apt along the road for the night for 20 euros! We couldn't wait to get out of the place! We'll definitely not be going back!

"Just returned from are holiday and have to give top marks to Niza.
Rooms cleaned regular, great location and a small but clean pool. If you like big complexes with entertainment etc this is not for you. But if like us you like to get out and enjoy all the restaurants then this is for you. It is a 2 minute walk to the buses, 30 seconds to a taxi, 5 minutes to the beach and on the flat rather than up in the hills."

"The Niza was thrust upon us as we due to stay at the Babalu until we were informed of building work. With little information we arrived at this central but small cluster of apartments.
In the morning light we ventured out to explore our holiday base.On first impression the "pool"looked very small and a little sad. There was about a dozen or so sunbeds postioned around the pool.It looked ok and by lunchtime the Niza started to warm up,ie people ; ) As the holiday progressed we began to accept that this is a great budget holiday base.Yes I know there was no pool bar, entertainment,or a sense of ownership of the Niza.
But supermarket (cheap) beers are only 50 meters away. The apartments are big and basiclaly furnished, and if you get one that backs onto the road the rear bedroom is submitted to people walking within a meter of bedroom window.Traffic noise round the clock means you need a fan on if you ave any chance of sleeping as you not going to be able to open the window due to safety you/belongings.
Sorry but what out weights the negatives is the Niza location. It on the flat, beach five minutes walk away as is the public beachside pool.(Small charge) applies but impressive venue and great pool. Niza pool is ideal for cooling off as very deep and refreshing.Five minutes the other way is shops and reastraunts, bus station, and water park.
Would I go back to Niza .no. But if your looking for a great location on a budget, well you get what you pay for.Basic, big apartment spread over two floors which is a bonus!"

On arrival in Las Palmas airport you wil...
"On arrival in Las Palmas airport you will be given a free map and money-off vouchers for Aqualand waterpark, if you have any intention of going, hang on to these. En route to Puerto Rico, we were given the keys to our apartment as reception closes at 7pm. The rep got off the coach with us to ensure we got in ok. We were delighted with the apartment, which consisted of the usual lounge, with bed settee, a table and four chairs and a kitchen with fridge/freezer, 2 rings, microwave, kettle, toaster and sink. There was then a large square room which houses the boiler and a clothes dryer. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms and a bathroom. There could have been more drawer space. There was the usual safe in a wardrobe and several items could be hired from reception, who were the most friendly, helpful reception I have ever experienced. We hired a wheelchair for my mum which was 63 euros for a week and we also paid 35 euros to keep our room on till pickup time instead of having to be out by 12 noon. It was well worth the extra money but you only get to keep it till 8pm, as it has to be cleaned for the next occupants. There is no bar or entertainment within the complex, but everything is literally within 5 minutes walking distance with a taxi rank right on the doorstep. The maid service was daily when we were there but dont know if this is standard, although a brush and/or mop would have been handy. The pool and surrounding area is immaculate although you are not allowed lilos in the pool, which I thought was a bit odd. Apparently, they affect the water (???) but have never came across this, anywhere, before. If you do wish to go to Aqualand, come out of the apartment, cross the road at the taxi rank, turn left, go round the corner and you are at the bus station. Take a number 70 or 701 bus, it says Aqualand all over it, and it is 1.75euros each, single. When you get to Aqualand, it is 24euros per adult and something like 15euros per child. The 3e discount voucher per couple makes it 22.5e each. To go on the Direct Holiday excursion to Aqualand is 38e EACH!! I'll leave you to do the sums. All the excursions were expensive (they always are!) so do-it-yourself, even the booths selling the excursions were a ripoff. The accommodation, transfers and flights were all excellent as was the service from the reps, would go back tomorrow."

"i enjoyd going to niza apartments as it was in a gr8 friendly location and enviroment although reception service was not as good as it could of been, and the fact that you had to be out of the small pool at 7pm when on the notice it told us 8pm. overall the rooms are very clean and other holiday makers are very friendly... my children enjoyed going to the commercial centre as it was packed with pubs restraunts and shops although on the other hand you were proppa close to the beach and all of the other facilitys.. on my nxt holiday to gran canaria i will definatly go to puerto rico but not at the same apartments as i did in 2006."

This was my first holiday abroad (with m...
"This was my first holiday abroad (with my sister) so I had done lots of reviewing to make my decision. Because I was considering cost I didn't mind where I stayed as long as it was clean and secure. I also opted for self catering as I wanted to eat when I was wanted - ended up spending a fortune eating out as I was too lazy to cook!
Arrived at the airport and had to hang about a bit before getting on the transfer bus I booked. The journey itself was about 1hr because there were several drop off points. We got to the apartments about 10pm and we were thoroughly and pleasantly surprised - I went with an open mind and not expecting much for the 2 star rating.
Although the reception was part time, a few hours in the morning and in the early evening - closing as 7pm, there was someone available to give us our keys. The reception had a few items for sale, mainly crisps, sweets, juice, and water. They allowed us to take a huge bottle of water and pay in the morning. Glad I brought tea & coffee with us! Due to the time of night we arrived there were no shops open to get milk, bread, or biscuits.
The pictures of the apartments I saw didn't really prepare me for the surprise we got - we were both well impressed. They are like a terrace row of houses - upstairs/downstairs with a small private patio.
Downstairs were open plan living/dining & Kitchen area. There were basic utensils - plates, cups, cutlery, can opener, frying pan, pot, kettle, toaster, cooker - but I heard later in the holiday that not everyone would get a kettle/toaster and these had to be hired from reception - may be to do with the tour operator, but most people had them. Through a separate door off the kitchen was a washroom with somewhere to hang wet clothes - it was a huge room! Upstairs there were 2 bedrooms - loads of storage space, and a bathroom with a shower over the bath - which sometimes ran cold!
My sister and I were both delighted with the apartment. We were supplied with a dish towel, 2 bath and 2 hand towels and loo roll! There was a small pay as you watch portable TV but we didn't use it.
There is a pool, small but then the complex was not that big. There are no life guards and parents are responsible for looking after their youngsters whilst they are in the pool. The whole complex is fenced off and there is a gate which is left open through the day. From 7pm the gate is locked - you are given a key and need to make sure the gate is secured when you come and go. There is a security man in the complex most nights - think it was only Sunday he wasn't there.
The apartments were cleaned daily, although the beds were not changed as often I thought they would - 3 times in the 2 weeks we were there.
We were able to hire a safe for the time we were there but had to wait until the morning to get reception.
The apartments are perfectly situated - on the flat area of the resort and exactly in the middle - 5 mins walk from the beach and 5 mins from the main commercial centre - couldn't have hoped for better.
Our favourite place to eat was BUBBLES, about half way into the CC on the right. Very attentive staff, we were always served quickly and the food was excellent every time.
We wanted to make the most of holiday and went on a few of the trips. Zig Zag safari with camel ride - a tour of some of the island in open four by fours. Absolutely loved it, spectacular scenery, great drivers and well worth the money, might I add it's not for the faint hearted - those roads are scary!
The island tour with WOW was good - luxury air con coach. There is a market at Puerto Mogan - you can go by ferry or bus, but be aware the market is all packed up 2pm. By the time we walked through, stopped for a drink, and started to head back through it was half gone! We went to Mogan to experience the submarine ride, it was a 30sec walk from the ferry we got off - if we were able to walk on water - it was on the other side of the harbour which was huge, and a good 15 minute walk!! We made the mistake of browsing around the town before going to the submarine - it must have been busy that day as we had to wait about 2 1/2hrs for the next available seats - so go straight there and book your place! It was a good experience and I can say I did it!
There are more shops at the beach - we were advised to be very careful when buying electrical goods like cameras and camcorders, we were told that one holiday maker bought what he thought was a bargain camcorder. It went faulty not long after getting home and sent it to the manufacturer for a repair to be told that it was not genuine parts inside so wouldn't be repaired!!
There was plenty night life in Puerto Rico and everyone always had a good time. The people working in the clubs etc are very friendly.
There were a couple of minor things that I will mention, but didn't really bother us. Where the Niza is situated it is right next to the taxi rank - very handy and there is a open air 24hr bar and food place, which was meant for the taxi drivers but people on the way home after most clubs are closed stop off this can be a little noisy. The back of the Niza sits right on a footpath/road. Although we never used the back room I dare say it could be quite noisy with traffic.
We went to the Europa Centre at the top of the almost vertical hillside and were not that impressed - it was mainly food places and only a couple of shops so only went once. We spent quite a few times going round the Commercial Centre, but you can get a little fed up with the constant 'looky looky' men trying to sell you sunglasses and other trinkets and the guys trying to get you to go into their restaurant, but overall it was a good atmosphere.
ANFI - this is a time share company although we didn't realise it straight away.
There was a very helpful lady on the kiosk and we thought she was there to organise trips and tours - which she does - even gave a discount and lots of helpful tips on where to go for cheap groceries - Herdisa, which is the shop used by locals. We had no problem when she also suggested that we could get free tickets for a trip/tour of our choice if we went to the newly built ANFI hotel in Maspalomas, spent the day on the beach, looked round their resort, she even said ANFI would pay for the taxi ride to and from the resort, she suggested that we might consider ANFI hotel as our holiday of choice next year!
This being my first holiday I never even realised what was happening. We agreed that my sister and I would go to ANFI later in the week, which I was glad about as the couple next to us had just been and discovered it was time share! Phew close escape, so just beware!
Overall I was very pleased with my holiday, my tour operator - Direct Holidays and the NIZA apartments."

"We went as a family of five and generally thought it was great. The pool was rather small but there is not a lot of people so it was never cramped.
Some apartments have a great view looking up onto the hills.
Tennis courts, Bungee trampolining, small karting are all a short walk away. Mini golf straight across from the apartments, and an excellent mini golf course just a few hundred yards away.
Large commercial centre just a few hundred yards away with excellent restaurants, pubs, family entertainment and lots of amusement arcades.
If going here then the Tropicana club is a must to go to, great family entertainment and also music quizzes for adults. Location is great."
