"We have stayed at the Ipanema Park for the last 6 years and will hopefully be going back next year. We love the place and find all the staff helpful and the cleaning ladies are very hardworking. The pool area is always clean, as are the rooms and any problems are dealt with promptly. There is a wonderful view from the hotel over the marina and the sunsets in October are beautiful. El Cenador is a really good restaurant in the commercial centre near the hotel and San Miguels is the best in the main commercial centre. There is always a queue for a table and the food is great. The Wigwam Bar is excellent and only about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to you and if you go onto their website and register with Friends of Ipanema Park you will get 10% discount when booking with them directly. "

"Just got back after two fab weeks at ipanema park. we could not have been looked after more if we had been in 4 star. All the staff are very helpfull and they work so hard . The rooms are spotless thanks to the cleaning girls . the food is good , the poole area is very clean . We would like to thank Lisa and Radu ,james and pete, also Amanda and sue they all run the bar and resturant at differant times of the day and night . radu is a brilliant chef they all looked after us well we dident have a bad meal . The entertainment on an evening was ok well most of it. would recamend this hotel ,cant wait to go back . The only down side is the steps at the side of the hotel, you have to down them to get down onto the road to go into the town centre,or do what we did and get a taxi for 3 euros .thaks once again to you all not forgetting the reception staff . "We have just returned from the Ipenema park and can't say enough great things about our stay. When we arrived we were told that the half board base we had booked was only available with a very limited menu. However the hotel staff suggested that we could eat at the sister hotel , The Marina Suites which was literally 5 minutes away. they offered to provide a taxi to get us there but it was a nice walk before dinner. We ate breakfast at The Ipenema which was fine and dinner at the Marina Suites where the food was very good. In addition to this The Reception manager offered to upgrade our accomodation, for the inconvenience. They then gave us the keys to the Villa....WOW amazing and frankly the best accomodation i have ever stayed in. It made a budget break a 5 star experience and we can't wait to return. Thankyou Raphael and his staff for a lovely stay!!!"

"Don't ever listen to bad reviews about these apartments, we went in July the place was immaculate! Should definatley be rated more than 3 stars, the only bad thing was the Spanish hogging all the sun loungers but reception just told us to take theirs off, we did and they never even retured for the hole day (greedy people trying to keep all the loungers for themselves). Poolbar food was basic but lovely, especially lovely people working behind the bar. A long walk down the millions of steps but good exercise!! Cheap enough to get a taxi to the main centre 4 euros at the most and reception kindly order these for you. Our balcony door wasnt secure, we reported this and it was seen to almost straight away. Would definatley go back!"

Not As it Appears in the Brochure
"My boyfriend and I booked these apartments as after looking through some websites we thought that these apartments looked the best for our smaller budget.
On arrival the reception staff were friendly however we were slightly concerned that the apartments seemed to be a considerable distance from the main centre of Puerto Rico.
Our apartment consisted of an upstairs and downstairs, basic but clean. We arrived in the early hours of the morning yet the room was very warm, much warmer than outside. Air conditioning we were told would cost us an extra 60 euros which we could not afford. We were also disappointed to see that our 'garden terrace view' was actually a huge tree planked in front of the balcony.
One of the biggest problems we encountered that there was hardly enough sunbeds to go around and nowehere near enough umbrellas. The umbrellas were snatched up very early in the morning and on the one morning that we did manage to get one someone took it away while we were at breakfast. The pool is fairly big but not big enough for the large amount of people staying in the apartments which meant it was hard to swim without constantly banging into people.
Another thing which is not made clear in the apartments description is that in order to get down onto the main road which takes you to the main centre, you have to walk down over 200 steps and through a dark tunnel. After a couple of days this becomes very wearing and does not feel completely safe. Would definatley not recommend this to people with mobility problems or those with athsma.
The Ipanema Park Apartments have some great views if you are placed in a certain room and the staff are friendly and efficient. However would not recommend staying here if you wish to explore the night life as the apartments are situated too far out. The room prices may seem reasonable however they arent really when you add on 60 euros for air con (and you will need it). Overall feel that the apartments were falsely advertised and very disappointing."

very nice part of puetro rico
"We came to these appartments last july, The apartments were small with no sofa as it was the double bed in sitting room,
But the pool was lovely and the views were really great, looking over the Marina. Only problem was we had to get taxis 2 and back to the center which even though were cheap i feel staying a bit closer to main center might be better, these appartments had lots of steps 2,
Im coming back to puetro rico this july and we have picked appartments Niza , as there very close to the center.
Overall there ok and were clean"

"Average hotel. Some of the balconies were to close to a main road. You woke up 7 o clock in the morning by passing traffic. I talked to the staff in the reception about this and one of them were very rude when I said I wanted to change apartment. The other younger man who works afternoons were really helpful and arranged for us to change apartment the next day. They have real problems with ants so make sure you have a good ant spray.
Overall the staff was really helpful and service minded. Always said hello when you passed them. Nice clean apartments, they even made the dishes 6 times per week. The pool area was okay. Real expensive pool bar though. 5 euros for two ice creams. The pool itself was a bit small for the number of people staying at the hotel.
Overall a okay hotel with a nice view from the balcony. Wouldn't mind staying there again.
Puerto Rico as an area itself were a bit boring for us younger people. Otherwise a lovely beach and walking distance to playa Amadores."

nice to be back again
"We had been looking forward to our return stay at the Ipanema and we were not disappointed. We arrived at 2310 and were welcomed by an extremely pleasant and accommodating receptionist. I have a slight mobility problem and, having realised this, we were offered the choice of 3 vacant apartments.
We chose 200B one floor up from the pool area and next door to the small supermarket, the lift was opposite the shop so easy access to all parts of the apartments. Our apartment was not as clean as we had expected, having arrived on Thursday evening we were not amused that clean towels had not been provided by Sunday evening. A request to a male member of staff was rejected, somewhat rudely, and did not bode well for the rest of the stay. This was the only complaint I had about the staff, Tuesday morning brought the arrival of Maria who was to take care of our needs for the remainder of our stay. I cannot praise her too highly, anything we needed was immediately provided, the cleaning was excellent, she was the most smiley person imaginable and she made us very satisfied. The two bar staff greeted us daily and our drinks were on the table before we sat down. We did not eat here, the promised restaurant was not available, presumably because of the lack of visitors. We did, however eat in the restaurants at the bottom of the steps, El Cenador in particular being well worth the visits. As usual, taxis were plentiful and reasonable, reception staff always willing to call for a taxi to collect us, and full of laughter to receive a lollipop as a token 'Thank you'. I love the Ipanema and am very glad that our visits can be made outside the high holiday season. We hope to return in the near future."

"We stayed at the Ipanmea Park for two weeks. On arrival the apartment was unclean and we requested someone come and clean the room. It was the next morning before this was done.
The pool area is lovely and the staff were excellent. The rooms are in great need of some decorating as they are pretty run down. We also experienced problems with ants. Until the rooms have been decorated I would not recommend these apartments to anyone. We requested to keep our room on the last day as we had an evening flight. We were told this was not possible even although there were no new arrivals. We were given access to a shared room where we could have a shower. This room had dirty towels in it and dead insects on the floor.
Overall the staff and location are excellent. The pool is very nice but the rooms require some work.
