Gazza has got to go !
"My boyfriend and I have just returned from the Altamar and thought the apartments were fantastic. The only gripe we had was the 'entertainment' staff which consisted mainly of 'Big Gazza'. He liked the sound of his own voice and played the same songs day in, day out. This meant that we HAD to avoid the pool area at all costs rather than listen to him!! The 5o'clock bingo was rather irritating too when we were trying to have a quiet beverage on our balcony at the end of a sunny afternoon..... On a positive note though, the apartments were clean, staff were friendly and we had everything we needed within the area. The local beach - Amadores - was sensational and fully recommend this rather than the main beach in Peurto Rico. I'm sure that we will be going back next year but not sure about the Altamar unless Gazza has been given his P45."

Get Rid of Big Gazza!
"We have been to the altamar 5 times before, went last June and was totally disappointed in the entertainment staff. Big Gazza only interested in flogging CD he has put together, plays same old songs time and time again. bring back TRENT, now he knew how to entertain. If your in a large noisy crowd then your alright, but if your in a smaller crowd you tend to get forgotten when it comes to involving people in the entertainment. Other than that it was the same good holiday it usually is, nice hotel , great views, restaurant and bar staff fantastic. food o.k on half board but try the al a carte, beautiful. Pictured myself going back there year after year, but until they get rid of BIG GAZZA, won't be in a rush to go back."

"We have returned some days ago home to Finland from Altamar-hotel.
The week was really perfect holiday. Our daugter (12) said that it was like a picture outside, when you in the morning waked up.
Thank you and Merry Xmas to all lovely people in restaurant, girls who cleaned our rooms, reception and all others who make our holiday really very nice. We'll hope to be back next year."

"Had a fantastic time, the rooms are clean, maid in 3 times during our week there. Staff on the front desk were friendly and helpful, as were the restaurant staff could not be faulted. The pools were clean. Though the lift broke down as we left, luckily out luggage was already up. Great views of the sea. Only gribe was the rep's I suppose. Def going back"

"I'd definitely go back to the Altamar - it is fantastic for children and there is always something for them to do. There is entertainment everynight in the complex with the Europa Centre 5 mins walk and Peurto Rico where there is ample restaurants and pubs 5 mins in a taxi...which is around 3 euros. There is a amazing sea view from every apartment. I didn't see any mosquitos and only one cockroach. I'd definitely recommend the Zig-Zag Safari excursion - which is one of the funniest entertaining days i've ever had on holiday."

"My husband and I stayed at the Altamar with our 8 year old daughter Mid August. We found the complex very nice although they really do need to consider air conditioning as in August it was stifling.
The food was ok but could be a little more varied.
Rooms were clean and maid service was excellent.
We had heard a lot about the lifts but they were not as bad as we had been led to believe.
Overall we had a fabulous holiday, our daughter joined the kids club and made some friends which was a bonus for us as it also gave us a break.
Would recommend the Altamar without hesitation but we would go self catering next time. There are too many fabulous restaurants to want to eat in.
Gazza and the girls Emma and Hannah were a great entertainment team."

"altamar was excellant me and my boyfriend went here for 1 week. situated on a hill and half an hour walk to beach but taxis are very cheap. Lift is a bit jerky but you get used to it. rooms are spacious and clean although a bit hot so we slept on the balcony every night. only seen one cockaroch but you cant avoid them where ever you go in europe. Would definately go again"

Fantastic caring staff. A++++++++++++
"Just back from Altamar after a 10 night stay with my son, who decided not to come back one night after one too many. I was frantic with worry. The manager arranged for me to be taken to the police station and to look for my son with a lovely member of the reception team. (so sorry didn't get your name but you know who you are. lol. They didn't need to do this and ill never forget their concern and kindness. Apartment was spotless, food great, location great. Can't wait to go back."

Wot a view!
"We have just returned after 10 days at altamar. We had a nice time, gorgeous views, hotel kept spotless, food for all inc an improvement on where we have stayed previous. Night time entertainment good, would have liked it to start slightly earlier instead of waiting til meal finish 9.30. This hotel has most amenities that anyone needs. Staff all around very pleasant espesially waiting & bar staff, Fernandez, Ramon & Marcus you were all so hospitable & made our hols."

"My wife and myself have just returned from 2 weeks at the Altamar, the rooms basic but clean, the maid service was excellent, the food was good, but could be a little cold at times. We were all inclusive, drinks were free (local) which you got from pumps at the end of the bar, but if you wanted another drink like a short and mixer ,which was included the in the package, the staff were not so quick to serve you.
The views were great we have been before many years ago so we knew they were good.
The second week was not so good as the Spanish version of D.I.Y sos moved into the dining area from 8-00am till around 8-00pm and we shared all meals with the builders, with there hammers, staple guns, circular saws, sawdust (one family getting this blown into their food) ladders, box scaffolding.
The Altamar is a nice place to stay for families, but from our visit the Altamar has gone down in standards, (vests and shorts in the dining room for dinner), I read a review before going to the Altamar about noise ,yes its very noisy till late, even into the small hours, the children well yes kids will be kids, but when parents sit in the bar drinking letting kids run around wild at the pool and playing with the lifts, as stated on signs children should not be left unattended in these areas(but hey why should the parents worry they are having a quiet drink)We picked the last 2 weeks of September as we thought the kids were back at school, but obviously lots of parents decided to give them an extended summer break.
I don't think we will return to the Altamar, shame really was a nice place for all couples and families alike
