Fantastic. Cant believe all the bad reviews.
"This hotel is a lovely hotel, friendly staff great apartments and very clean. When we spent 2 weeks each year at Cala D'or we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go there again and again. Okay fair enough there were cockroaches but seriously if your gonna be that sad and complain about that then don't bother going abroad at all. Obviously there are going to be cockroaches around the hotel. its just the same as if someone from Gran Canaria came here and there were spiders everywhere. It 100% normal. Yes there is music playing until early hours of the morning but it a nightclubbing hotspot so your gonna expect that. your all just being really silly when you complain about some so stupid. I will back Cala D'or all the way because i know what it is really like. Its fantastic we had the best holiday we have ever had. Fantastic restaurants, brilliant shops and the beaches well they are beautiful. Please guys don't listen to the bad reviews because truthfully it is fantastic there. I do understand that the entertainer Javi who was there when we stayed has sadly left. He was truly fantastic but I'm sure the new entertainer is a good one. Please guy go to Cala D'or for your holiday you will enjoy it very much."

"This place is absolute dog hole do not stay at this poor excuse for a hotel. When we arrived very late at night the first thing we encounted was a bar person with a very strange personality, who was quite frankly not right in the head. The receptionist described him as mucho loco, which was an understatement. We went to our two rooms to find a bedroom with two single beds and a L shaped sofa for 4 of us with no bed covers or pillars for us to use. We shoved the sofa together and made the best of it that night. We complained to the receptionist in the morning and got them to sort out the covers. First morning round the pool was like running the gauntlet trying to get a sunbed and for us. If you do not get the sunbed and towels laid out by 8am, you have no chance. Our eldest daughter, who is 17, was then greeted by a greasy slimy 40ish year old man, who was trying to charm her. Asking where she got her eyes from and just being a dirty, sleazy old man. The entertainment round the pool and bar area was an absolute joke. It was run by a bloke who liked to be too touchy feely with the kids and not in a good way, needless to say we did not partake in any of the activities. At this point all we wanted to do was to go home, but here we go to the bits I was really unhappy about. During our stay we spent most of the time at the beach which was fantastic. The times we went to the pool it turned all the swimming costumes, shorts, armbands, caps and floats to a yellow green colour. We contacted Thomsons via text and asked them to call us to discuss the issues about the pools and the damage itâs had caused. We were made to feel that we was lying and making it up. We tried to address the issue with the Thomsons rep at the hotel in the reception. All 7 of us lined up and showed them what the pool had done to our clothes. The rep said she had never seen anything like it before and asked the reception staff to have a look. The reception staff was arrogant and rude and said the pool was fine and it was due to sun damage and that we was lying also. We told the reception staff to get a white t-shirt and to dip it in the pool and let it dry and to see what colour it turns. They refused to do this simple test, so I guess that speaks for its self. We were also awaking the early hours the next morning to be greeted by a plague of cockroaches running all over our bed, it reminded me of Joeâs apartment, if you have ever seen the film. I killed the ones I could and went down to reception to complain. They offered me a free complimentary can of bug spray. I then contacted Thomsonâs to be told that it was perfectly normal and to be expected. They also said that we have spiders in our country and that itâs just one of those things. We told them that if we have 30-40 spiders in our house then we would call rent-a-kill if that was the case. We confronted the Thomsonâs rep around the pool and made sure everyone heard our complaints about the cockroaches, pool and job lot. We told her in no uncertain terms that we wanted it sorting before she left our hotel, either putting right or a flight home. She said that there were no flights but she would speak to the hotel and let us know what she could do. We waited until 12:30 and I went down to reception to find out that she had left and nothing had been sorted, so we left the hotel fuming. I contacted Thomsonâs and let them know what I thought of them abandoning us in this hell hole bug ridden squallow of a hotel. I was told that they could not do anything so we would have to wait until the rep came back to the hotel at 7pm. We found the travel rep later that day and aired all our issues and frustrations and annoyance about how we had felt abandoned and that nothing had been sorted in reception. The long and short of it is that we would have to contact the after travel team when we got home. One more complaint about this dump is the timeshare touts everywhere trying to collar you at every possible opportunity. Restaurant owners bug the life out of you and the food and drink costs are extortionate. The noise level is ridiculous from the clubs down the bottom of the hill and goes on to 5am. STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!! "

Holiday review of Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria
"Recently arrived back from one week in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria.Staying at the Cala D'or apartments.(18-24 Jan, 2012) Very clean and spacious, only real complaint is the 30+ steps up to reception, there should be a ramp for suitcases and deliveries. We were warned by our Rep on our first morning about 'Timeshare' in the area. On our way to the beach we were stopped by a very tanned girl named 'Angel' who offered us a scratchcard, we said 'No thanks just been warned about Timeshare' but she insisted it wasn't Timeshare, she persuaded us to go with her to collect our 'Prizes', to cut a long story very short, it was all a con and we wasted at least 2 hours of a sunny day, we told them we didn't want our 'prizes' and left. There was quite a lot of 'pestering' of various kinds in Puerto Rico and it put us off wanting to go there again. I would highly recommend a small restaurant on the hill close to the Cala D'or called 'Minanas', away from the hustle and bustle of the 'Centre'. Its owned and run by Peter and Juan. The food and service is exceptional. Its very advisable to book to avoid disappointment. "

"just back from the cala dor. have to say it was a nice spot apart from no bloody air con. and if you want it it costs â¬90 per week. bloody disgrace. and have to say miguel the receptionist is the most rude and ignorant person ive ever met. we paai â¬20 for the tv and he never gave us the card for it . when we went back to him he argued that we must have lost it. but have to say leo the entertainer was fantastic. absolutly brilliant. he really made it fun for us "

Clean, Child Friendly, noisy, hot
"Apartments were small & split level with high step down from kitchen to living room & balcony, but had everyting we needed. Rooms cleaned every other day. Towels when needed. Beds very hard - sofa beds were more comfortable. We were poolside so noise through to 1am from hotel entertainer & then noise drifting up from the centre til 3am. Lovely views though. No air conditioning. Had to leave the door to the balcony & the windows open at night. Because we had to leave the bathroom light on for the kids (in case they forgot about the step) it meant we had a couple of coackroaches to terminate. Hotel Staff were friendly & helpful. Lots of entertainment for the kids in the afternoon & at night. L-E-O (the black country's version of graham norton) was witty & at times a little close to the knuckle - always hilarious. Other guests on the whole friendly & loved the kids. Plenty of company for our 2 even though school hols hadnt started. Pool big enough for our 2 (ages 7 & 5) probably not for teens. Plenty of sunbeds. They would need a half dozen more parasols which might stop the free for all every morning at 8.30am. Pool quite cold. Sun doesn't hit the hotel side of it til 12pm which is ok as odds are you'll get burned on the sunny side first day & you'll be glad of a respite in the shady bit til your skin calms down. Alot of steps into the hotel & loads down into the commercial centre. Which is straight in front of the hotel. If you have small children in buggys this would get tiresome in the heat. Taxis 2.70 euros one way. Easy walking distance to Subway & McDonalds & bus stop for trips to palimtos park & Aqualand. Bit further for the harbour & boat trips. Lots of mini golf. Loads of pubs restaurants 'The wok' Chinese all you can eat buffet very good. Select your food from raw & they will cook it for you 7.95 euro a head. Kids loved it too."

"We have just come back from a week at the Cala Dor, we thought the hotel was nice and clean, staff very friendly, entertainment was good - thanks L E O Leo day time quiz etc and evening had various entertainments often just Leo but sometimes guests as well. Leo stopped at 12 and disco stayed on til 1 but not loud. Some noise from centre at bottom of hill but not a problem. Lots of steps but taxi only 2.70 nice beach at Peurto rico and really nice man made beach 20 min walk at Amadores. Generally food and drink more expensive than at home. Overall a good holiday kids loved the pool, and would have stayed there all day. "

Ok if you're English...bad for Spanish/German
"Just coming from 2 Weeks in Cala D'Or apas....I was really disappointed when I arrived and found put that they do NOT HAVE Wifi/Wlan as written in the description and that they do NOT OFFER laundry Service. If you want to use the Internet you have to pay and there are only 2 PCs that are always occupied. I read some reviews where spanish people complained that they got the inferior rooms - paying the same price as for ex. english people....and in fact that happened to us as well. The noise was terrible, couldn't sleep without earplugs...music and stupid animation sounds every day and half of the night and in the morning the maids, the cook and stuff shouting and the roombell from our neighbours during the day... If you like superficial entertainment and feel comfortable between almost only english people that occupy all the beds at the pool ( and I mean ALL) at 8.00 h in the morning.... I personally didn't mind the steps....in 5 Min you are at the big Shopping Center and in 15 Min at the beach. It was a good workout (would have been good for 50% of the people staying there) and if you are tired then you can get a taxi for 2.15 during the day and 2.50 at night. I felt that the tourists from England where favoured and treated diferently than other countries...didn't feel welcome. I have to say though, that the rooms are nice and really clean....you don't even have to wash your dishes. "

"Just returned from Cala D'or apartments. Very nice resort and apartments. BUT, very noisy, continous music blaring from 11.00 am through to midnight, there was no respite. On two occasions had to go into the apartment in the evening to escape the noise but then it was very hot with the patio doors closed and could still hear the entertainment drowning out the tv, this was at 11.30 at night. Such a shame cos would love to go back but couldn't stand the non stop noise again. Also had 5 cats lodging on the balcony, we are cat lovers but occasionally they slept on the towels we left out to air and pestered us if we were eating. If the noise was calmed down would definitely go back there though. Local supermarketsm Hyper dino very cheap, resort and apartments well maintained and clean. "

"Just returned after 2 weeks in cala dor apartments, lovely clean hotel the maids are always cleaning and staff are very friendly. Leo the entertainer does his utmost to make everyone feel very welcome and he is a good laugh. If you like chinese food you MUST go to the new one where Churchills used to be it is FANTASTIC the BEST i have ever been to its only been opened 4 weeks you MUST go there,i can assure you once you try it you will definitely go back for more costing 7.98 euros eat as much as you like and the owners really make you feel welcome. Sun spot bar up the steps from M&Ms is a lovely bar and the drinks are quite reasonable. Bubbles restaurant is a must for breakfast and the best steak i have tasted much better than San Miguels opposite. Taxi back to the hotel from the centre cost 2.50 euros approx. Went to Barracudas up Europa centre load of rubbish and drinks expensive - DONT BOTHER better in cala dor"
