"And so glad to be home! The weather, the views of Amadores Beach were out of this world, however, we wish we had researched these apartments! Felt unwelcome, booked B & B, arrived to be told restaurant closed for refurb, pure lies!! Everyday we looked in and it was empty?? This is what sold us holiday! Sent upto Alta Mar for breakfast, disgusting! Walked down to Amadores beach, breakfast at BBB, lovely!! Good walk down but get taxi up! â¬3! Barbacoa up hill at Europa, puts on two acts each night, worth a visit! Also take a taxi to Shopping Centre in Puerto Rico, worth a visit. Sol Y Mar on Amadores Beach for delicious food :) beautiful beach, fantastic clear water to swim in. Do the Dolphin Safari, â¬95 for two, lunch and all the beer and vodka u can drink!! The Palmera Mar boasts live music and entertainment every night?? No, it's like a morgue! Reception open 9-1 and 4 - 7..had to help people find their rooms! If u arrive when it's closed, ur key wil be sellotaped to door!!! Pool bar shuts at 6pm, so make use of fridge in room, no air con, too hot! No parasols, apparently u can hire them!! Be careful walking diwn steep holl though and fo NOT go if u have walking difficulties! Take taxi noat to Mogan, beautiful and quaint :) All in all we made it a great holiday, but will never return to Palmera Mar..are now in dispute to get money back for non-breakfasts!!! We paid good money for B & B and didn't get it!!"

xmas holidays at faulty towers aka palmeramar apartments
"in short this hotel should take down the apartments at the side of the hotel where we had the misfortune to stay as we were attached to the side of the holiday club apartments where the laundry room was with what sounded like everything washing and drying was rusted. the balcony had no sun what so ever but for another 15 euro per night u could upgrade to a balcony with somr sun. the pool area while small and clean and a not so heated pool needs to have some rotating sunbeds as there are a lot more shaded areas than sunny areas .be careful with sockets as they are likely to come away in ur hand wen u plug the kettle out the showers drown the floors unless u hold shower head, u have to give the tv a smack so ur money falls in slot this does not apply to the flat screen tv that are in the apartments with the sun. but all that said the staff were very nice and helpful. would not stay there again,"

"this hotel was ideal for me and my family. It was perfect size, everything that you need plus a stunning view from the balcony.I read a few reviews on here before i left and was dreading this hotel due to cockroaches..? i saw one on the steps on the way down to the pool and no more (trust me i looked!!) so i wouldnt take much notice to be honest. Its 3 euro down to the beach and there is a supermarket in the europa centre just 10min walk up the hill. had a brilliant week here and would definatly return."

Lovely, Only in the refurbished rooms.
"My Mum, Younger sister (13) and I (17) are just back from a weeks holiday at the Palmereamar Apartments in Puerto Rico which is situated up a steep cliff. The website we had booked through only advertised the refurbished rooms and didn't mention that some of the floors hadn't been refurbished. (Ground to 2nd floor) We were given a room in the first floor which hadn't been refurbished. It was quite clean with a massive balcony, But very old. On our first night, We had a big cochroach in the kitchen. All 3 of us are absoulte terrified of creepy crawleys and had no one to help us as the reception is only open from 9am-1pm then again from 4pm to 8pm. Eventually we managed to get a neighbour to kill the cochroach, He also told us that he's had over 40 cochroaches throughout his 10 day stay. In the early hours, We came across another two cochroaches in the living room. The 3 of us ended up having a sleepless night in the bedroom. The next day we went to reception and explained that we weren't comfortable in our room as we had 3 cochroaches. We were told we could move to a refurbihed room the following day but it would be another 20 euros a night. We bought spray and sprayed the whole room and cupboards on our 2nd night and woke up to another 3 cochroaches, 2 of which the spray hadn't killed. The next day we moved to a room on the 5th floor which had been refurbished and was beautiful. The view of the beach which was gorgeous. Everything was brand new. We continued to spray the room every night with the cochroach spary but didn't have any throughout the remainder of the week. We were told only the first few floors had cochroaches as it was closer to the ground. The apartments are very quiet and well kept. Most of the apartments face on to the pool. The pool area is gorgeous and quiet. Very relaxing with a poolside bar. Also most appartments have a gorgeous view of the amadores beach which is 15 mintues walk down a steep slippery hill. About a 5 mintues walk up the hill is the Europa centre which had restaurantes pubs and bars. But about a 5 minutes taxi ride down the bottom of the cliff is the Commercial Centre which is much bigger and cleaner with shops cafes restaurantes pubs and clubs. We spent mostly every night there as it has places for everyones taste. The taxi's are very cheap aswell and there is a taxi rank situated just up the hill from the centre. We had a great time at the palmerea mar apartments apart from our first 2 nights. We wouldn't recommend puerto rico for people with walking disabilities as the resort is build on cliffs and the hills are very steep. We got taxi's everywhere. Overall, the palmerea mar is a lovely quiet hotel with gorgeous views of puerto rico and would recommend it to those who are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday."

"Apartments were amazing. Huge room, very clean, lovely balcony looking out onto the beach. The maids were excellent - cleaned our room almost every day and even did our washing up for us!! The pool was absolutely gorgeous. Lovely temperature and beautiful. Very clean. Weather was AMAZING! The ONLY bad thing to say about this hotel is that they overbooked. We arrived at the hotel at about 10pm to find a letter stuck to the door of reception telling us they had no room for us. They sent us to another hotel for the whole week. We rang the manager and complained so suddenly a room came available the next morning. This happened to A LOT of people in the one week that we were there. Lots of people we sent to various different hotels as they were told there was no room for them. Even though everyone seemed to have booked months in advance. Very very annoying. Some people had to spend a whole week in a different lower star hotel. The manager didn't want to face any customers so didn't show up at the hotel which left the poor reception staff to pick up the slack. They had a lot of angry people to deal with that week. We were never given an explanation as to why this happened as the manager wouldnt speak and the other staff didn't know why. Would love to go to the hotel again as it was excellent but only if we could GUARENTEE a room from the start. "

"Loved amadores and puerto reco shame about the accomodation. Great location, great views provided you get 3rd floor up unfortunately we only had a pool view but if you are higher the views of the bay are amazing/ Basic apartments. Key taped to the window when we arrived as reception closed so took a while to find our room First night huge cockcroch followed by loads of smaller ones. Went out and got some spray the next day thinking that would be the end of it. It wasnt, over 10 days my boyfriend had to get rid of around 40 of them. They where in the kitchen area front room bathroom and one in the bedroom and a few on the balcony. Also you would see them in the corridors. The hotel said they are aware there is a problem. The higher floors have been refurbished but ours was not, so it may be better in the updated apartments. The tables and sides where filthy so i washed everything down myself, skirting boards thick with dirt. Good location and views if it had been clean and cockcroach free I would go again however I couldnt relax or sleep well in the apartment so if you dont like the creepy crawleys I would say dont risk it. If you do decide to brave it I wouldnt bother with half board you only have an option of two starters 2 mains and a dessert, and they are not great options. Would definately return to amadores but not this hotel "

Would definately go back!
"Just returned from a week at the Palmeramar Apartments in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria. It was an amazing week, plenty of things to do, glorious weather the whole week we were there. The beach is a 20 minute walk down a steep slippy hill but a good 45 min walk back up, we did it 2 days in a row then never bothered vensuring down to the beach for the rest of the holiday. We had a day scuba diving which was one of the most amazing experiences ever. The receptionist organised it for us and it was 60 euros per person and we got picked up from our hotel at 12pm, we didn't get back until after 6pm. The diving school was a 25 minute drive from our resort and they took us in the pool to get us used to the equipment then took us out to sea just 20km from the airport. We also went on a catamaran to watch for dolphins and wales, the sea was very choppy and I got sea sick, I was the first one then everyone else started to drop like flies. Managed to see about 25 dolphins and one whale (in between being sick) apart from the sickness it was very enjoyable. Me and my boyfriend are planning on going back to Gran Canaria in the next year or so but may stay at the Altamar which is just up the hill from Palmeramar. While we were there the restaurant was been renovated so we got sent to the 4 star hotel up the road as we were half board. The food was amazing and the service fantastic, very friendly staff. The only down side to the Palmeramar Apartments was where it was situated, you had to go up a hill to get to the apartments, up the same hill further to get food, further up the hill yet again to go to the Europa Centre, then a steep walk back down. We went to a nice little bar in the Europa Centre called Chill, they do Karaoke and a shots quiz, very enjoyable, friendly staff and good value for money on drinks. Would recomment this resort to anyone."

"my husband and i have just come back from a week at the palmeramar. apartment basic but clean. the beds were very uncomfortable so didn;t get much sleep. however, the balcony was big though no shade so from about three onwards it was impossible to sit out and the room got stifling. the pool area was fantastic, lovely pool with plenty loungers and though no brolleys you could get some shade under the palm trees. the view from any of the rooms was amazing it looked down onto Amadorus Beach. Unfortunately, we didn't rate the reception they weren't particularly helpful and though there was a little shop, it was badly stocked (this could be due to it being May?) The brochure mentions a restaurant on the roof, there is indeed one there but it wasn't open during our stay, again maybe as it is May. Would definately recommend you hire a car, it is a short very very steep walk up to the bus stop/taxi rank, bus takes about 5 mins into Puerto Rico at 90cents and a taxi about 3.50. There is a shopping centre up the hill with a supermarket and bars restaurants etc., not our cup of tea a bit noisy but probably great for families. some decent eating places there. In Puerto Rico itself, again same sort of shopping centre but some lovely restaurants at the marina, also Balcon in the centre is the best value for money. Bubbles in the centre great for breakfast 2.90 for english with tea and toast fab. Took ferry to Puerto Mogan for market day Friday, it is a beautiful place, full of charm and character would love to stay there. Went to Maspalomas, it is beautiful a mix of up market and tourist, lovely walk along the prom very clean and loads of places to eat. We found Gran Canaria a beautiful island and the people really friendly. The weather was glorious a soft breeze which was very welcome. All in all will def go back but hopefully to either Mogan or Maspalomas. will just add that the Amadorus Beach is beautiful and has about thirty restaurants on the beach, beautiful setting. "

"Arrived at Pamera Mar at about 11.00 p.m. on 1st September 2008. After having read about the views the first thing we did was open the patio doors and the view did not disappoint it was amazing. After leaving the bags in the room we went for a drink at the hotel bar. As we did not book a meal on the plane we were starving so asked for a bag of crisps and the man behind the bar kindly made us a plate of chips. The room was spacious and the balcony the biggest I have ever seen. The only problem was no air conditioning and it was stiffling at night. Also we were on the top floor directly under the bar and was kept awake until 3.00 a.m. some mornings by the scraping of chairs and some very noisy stilletos. It is best to do the walk down to the beach as early as possible because after about 11.00 it is too hot and defintiely get a taxi back up the hill. There is a taxi rank right by the beach. There is also another one just up the hill from the apartments but if you ask the receptionist he will call one to pick you up from outside the apartments. The Irish Cottage was great for breakfast and also the restaurant next door was great for lunch. I checked the temperate before leaving (77 degrees) which I though would be pleasant and was not at all prepared for the heat. We were informed that the weather centre is in the north and we were in the south you need to add at least 10 onto that. Amadores beach was amazing you could have been in the caribbean the sand was so white and the sea so clear. Went on the Spirit of the Sea dolphin watching tour which was amazing. Must have seen about 50 dolphins. We went on the last trip of the day at 3.00 and apparently the people who had been on the morning trip had seen a whale as well. The Europa Centre was excellect expecially the Amadeus restaurant. Yates is a bit of a rip off. There was a specials board advertising 2 San Miguel for 5 Euros and when they arrived at the table they were little stubbies. The cheapest place for drinks we found was Harbour Lights by the right hand side harbour in Puerto Rico. It had a brilliant view of the sun setting over the harbour. 2 pints of San Miguel for 3 Euros. They will even put the 2nd one in the pump until you are ready for it. We did not see a single cockroach or get pestered once by time share people. I cannot say enough good things about Puerto Rico it was absolutely brilliant and can't wait to go back again. "

"Just returned from stay at palmeramar apts. Very clean apts, great views of amadores beach, large balcony good tip buy a parasol and a couple of blow up lilos and sunbathe on the balcony all afternoon, does get quite intense the heat though so be careful!! Rooms were clean, towels changed nearly everyday only left when maids not around on sundays, sheet only changed twice on a two week holiday which was the only bad thing, could do with fans in the room, as at night when getting ready to go out, it was a bit hot. Pool bar was great and the bar man Jose was fantastic, there every morning with a couple of cups of coffee, he always has a smile and works really hard!! Restaurant food was ok not bad for a cheap meal, great garlic bread though, not so good Sangria! Some of the restaurant staff a bit miserable but the big guy (you will know who i mean) is great good laugh and always gives a free honey rum (a very large one) at the end of the meal. Best place to visit for breakfast is the London Pride in Amadores all English product great to cure a hangover! Bit of a walk but it is all down hill to amadores but a great beach, one tip get a taxi back about 3 euros. The Duke of York at amadores great for a meal then a short walk around the coast line into puerto rico. Best restaurant for a special occasion is the great restaurant near the beach in Puerto Rico, it is called the Rhodes Palace, it is upstairs from all the electic shops that try to sell you cameras for 10euros! This restaurant is fantastic we go back again and again every year, very authentic greek cuisine , and you get loads, make sure you dont eat all day, before you visit, as the starters are as big as the main meals, its slightly more expensive than your normal run of the mill places but as i say it great for a special occasion and you do get what you pay for! By far the best Sangria in the whole of puerto rico, and a great hostess that remembers us year after year. Europa centre 10 mins walk up the hill from the hotel, great for entertainment, especially Turbos, and the Blaney stone, avoid Yates if you are over 30! Mary D good pub with great entertainment. Would return to this hotel, having tried a few different ones, this is my 8th year with my husband and over twenty times being back in GC, cant wait for next year!! Best place in the world!! "

Just returned from a 2 week break in the...
"Just returned from a 2 week break in the Palmera Mar This was a cheap trip for us, which I booked after reading reviews on the apartments. I wasn't disappointed. It has a fab view over Amadores Beach, whereas many other hotels in the area overlook rubble or shops etc. Our balcony was big and pleasant to sit out on. The staff weren't very friendly, don't think I saw any of them crack a smile even once!! But on the rare occasion we needed help of some sort, we were dealt with promptly The apartment was spacious enough, with basic cooking facilities. Maid was round most days, but the bedding was only changed once in the 2 weeks. Also we purchased toilet roll, just to be safe so we never got caught short, thus the maid didn't leave us any toilet roll until the second week when we hid our own stuff. The onsite supermarket is expensive for most things (but not all), worth taking a walk down to the Spar on the way to Amadores beach and getting a taxi back up. Or the Hiper Dino in the centre of Puerto Rico No probs with noise, but we were on the 6th floor and I always take earplugs away with me anyway. It was the last Spanish holiday week-end while we were there tho, and I wouldn't go near the pool as it was mobbed and fairly rowdy Would definitely recommend these apartments, great value for money"
