Rebecca Park Apartments
40 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
A 2 star bungalow.
"We stayed at the Rebecca Park Apartments in March 2008 in an apartment with 1 bedroom. These bungalows are on Calle Noruega, which is the street directly leading to CC Gran Chaparral shopping centre on Avenida de Gran Canaria. These bungalows are of normal standard, clean (apart from a few ants in the kitchen) with very friendly staff which make you feel very welcome. There are 50 apartments there and four studios. A restaurant, a mini market, a pool-bar, pool and a tennis court. Our apartment was really nice, but the windows in the bed-room faced the swimming-pool as did the bath-room, so when taking a shower one had to keep the window shut as to not be on display. I could go out of the bed-room window into the swimming-pool area so there was no opening that window as well if one did not want to be seen from the swimming-pool area which was a disadvantage really. Our apartment had a living room with a sofa (sleeps 1) and a bed, a kitchenette and TV, with a lot of channels (for free), a safety-deposit box in the closet (which you pay for at the lobby), a nice bath-room and a bed-room. There had been some painting experiments in the bed-room, a different colour of yellow had been splashed here and there on the walls, making it a bit shabby, apart from that the bed-room was really nice. We had a terrace facing another bungalow. The terrace was nice, with a table, a table-cloth, 2 chairs and 2 sundecks. The only thing bothering us there was that the path leading to other bungalows was right in front of the terrace, too close for comfort, you can notice how close the path is on my picture of the terrace.
There are two computers with Internet connection in the lobby, but the Internet speed was extremely slow, REALLY slow, so better go to an Internet café. There is one really good Internet café (5 hours for 5 euros) on the corner of Avenida de Gran Canaria and Avenida de Tirajana. It is on the same side as the CC Chaparral, just walk towards Tirajana and down the stairs on the corner, there are a few restaurants and this Internet café.
Rebecca Park is about 1,5 kilometres away from the beach, one just walks to the end of Tirajana to Riu Palace and then along the Dunas which takes you straight to the beach. Yumbo centre is really close, only about 5 minutes' walk and you are there, which is an advantage. On their business card they have a website www.grupoamcotur.com but I found www.hotelstreet.co.uk/Hotels-4046-Rebecca_Park.html to be much more useful."

"First impressions were very good and the staff were very friendly throughout our whole visit. Bungalows were basic as expected but did have microwave which other similar ones don't have. They were very clean and linen & towels were changed regularly. Ate the food sevred in the pool bar once and it was fine.
There was no entertainment at the bungalows and it was perfect for a quiet relaxing stay. Very handy for walking to the Gran Chapperl, Jumbo, Kasbah etc.
Try La Paderna in Cita CC for italian which we found was excellent and also La Toro in JumboCC. Also La Carreton just up the road from the GranChapperal was very good. Don't eat at the Olympic! The owner swore at us beacuse we looked at the menu and then walked away. Don't think he liked his restaurant being empty and the Yellow Rose opposite being full.
Also go to Flora's Bar in Gran Chapperal. Lovely Dutch bar where a warm welcome is provided by Flora and she can provide you with any details you need abour where to go what to do etc. Drinks also less expensive than other bars in area. Food being served looked great unfotunately we didn't try it.
Recommend Rebecca Park to all"

Basic, but Friendly
"Returned from Rebecca Park Bungalows yesterday.
The complimentary bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch.
When we first arrived in our room I was a bit unsure about the accommodation, as there were cigarette burns in the sheets and bedspreads, and the towels weren't exactly whiter than white, and they had holes in them too. Also, our third bed had not been made up, and the lady at reception was very apologetic, and said she would sort that out herself, which she did, but only by bringing some bed linen. We still had to make the bed up. Not the end of the world but you can do without it. (first impressions and all that). Our room (107) faced the pool which was nice - literally 20 steps away - but backed onto the road, which could be noisy at night with traffic and people walking past shouting and swearing. Also no aircon so it was very warm during the night, and because of the noise (and fear of cockroaches) we had to keep the windows closed.
Generally everywhere was clean but a little bit worse for wear. Lots of things held together with black sticky tape, including the parasols, two of which gave up the ghost while we were there. So we were left with about five parasols to 50+ sunbeds in the pool area. There is always the option of the sunbeds on each bungalow's terrace, but as they all face roughly southwest, there wasnt much shade to be had there in the afternoons. The pool is clean but extremely cold, even after having the sun on it all day.
The complex is very quiet. No entertainment. Staff very friendly. Rooms cleaned 5 days out of 7.
There is no courtesy room, but there is a (very small) shower available in the pool toilets area. (My husband couldnt have a shower before we left for our 8.30pm flight as he couldnt fit through the corner doors on the cubicle)
Plenty to do in the area. Everything is only a short walk away.
We walked to the market at San Fernando (Weds and Sats) although it is quite a trek. it took us 50 mins and when we got there it was the same old same old. seen one, you've seen them all.
Generally I would say that Rebecca Park is a good base from which to visit the area roundabout."

basic but clean accomodation
"Very efficient maid service sheets changed frequently as were the towels.Basic accomodation but only to be expected at the price we paid ,bit short on the crockery and cutlery front but could be easily rectified.Beware the walls are paper thin ,we had a young couple next to us and we could here everything despite tele being on.On site food good quality and price sometimes cheaper than in the nearest town.Bit busy for us in the Yumbo centre but good places to eat ,they tend to sting you a bit on the drinks.Loved private patio area pool was freezing and the lack of aircon in the summer could be a real problem."

Budget Hotel But Not Budget Price !!!
"Having just returned and reading previous reviews i just had to leave my view !!!. First things first, the lady on reception was very nice and polite, next was the room, oh my god !!!, after i found my wife a tissue to dry her eyes it all became apparent of what we had walked into. The place was crawling with ants (but no cockroaches), one of the beds should of had 6 legs but only had 3 and a half as 1 was bent underneath, the fridge looked and smelt like it had come from the local tip, the smell was immense, next was one of the grills on the windows was only screwed in a 3 places and not 4 (and due to the latest events in Portugal this was a major concern as i took my 2 small children with me). The walls in the place seamed to have all sorts of marks on them which i dread to think what they were ?.So i duly went and complained straight away, and to give them their due with in half an hour all of these problems were sorted out by the manager himself !!. The pool was cool but, you couldn't see the bottom even with goggles on in the shallow end, so it did need a bit of a clean , and it's very small. There are signs asking people not to put their towels on the sun beds before 9 o' clock, but this makes no difference as people and moving the sunbeds and putting towels out from 5 o' clock in the morning, so the management don't seam to make a stance on this, so by 7 o' clock all the sunbeds are gone!!!. We stayed in room 107 which is right on the pool. Rooms 101-110 lover look the pool, the rest can be looking at tall garden walls with barbed wire on or totally shaded by trees. We ate at the Gran Chaparral which we found to be quieter and not so hyper as the Yumbo centre. So overall a very budget place, but not so budget on price. Would i go back, NO WAY !!!"

"Arrived amidst boiling Scirocco winds to find a fabulous oasis from the madness of Playa Del Ingles.
Main features :
Extremely friendly staff
Free local/satellite TV in rooms (CNN, Sky News in English)
On site shop (limited range)
On site Internet Access (payable)
Decent sized pool
Relatively quiet surroundings
Hob, Microwave, Toaster and Kettle
Regular, friendly maids/linen changes
Lots of parking space outside
We stayed in 121, 122 and 123 - away from the pool so quiet quiet. Definately better to be further from the pool! I didn't use the pool, but one of my friends did comment that it was not the cleanest she had seen - but not awful.
We did see about 5 cockroaches during our stay, but only in the first 12 hours in the strong winds. After that, not a problem.
Definately the best place we have stayed in Playa Del Ingles, of about 7 we have tried to date!
I will be returning to this complex without a doubt!

a great base!!
"We have already had a holiday this year in morocco and booked this one as a cheap extra holiday for us and our 5 kids. we found ourselves in the middle of a heat wave and the temperature did not get below 35 even at night!! the pool was busy but very refreshing the bungalows are clean and have all you need. the Yumbo centre is a 5 min wallk away and we went there most evenings the drag show at Cafe La belle is brilliant! the kids made us go twice!! it is a family show and it is free as long as you are buying drinks. there are plenty of places to eat and we really enjoyed our meal at the greek restaurant just around the corner from the apartments. the beach is about a 15 min walk and is well worth it, it is a very direct route. Overall I would recommend the Rebecca Park apartments for a budget stay they are perfect."

Great base and location
"After reading others opinions on this property we decided to give it go and was glad with our decision to stay here.
The apartments are a 2 minute walk from a street of stores and shops catering for all self catering needs.
The Yumbo centre is within a 5 minute walk with a choice of places to eat (from KFC to a fine restaurant) and an array of shops and stores.
The beach was a 20 stroll away. A taxi will cost less the 4 euros (about £2.50) which made the trip back to easy.
The apartments are basic in what they offer, but did offer all you would need for a week in the sun. A clean shower/loo, tidy bedroom (2 single beds) and a lounge/kitchen area made it comfy and welcoming.
The kitchen area had all you need to make breakfast/lunch. Microwave, toaster and kettle all helped. We had only one bowl and 1 large plate, but otherwise, everything we needed was there. (we asked reception for an additional plate and bowl and had not bother getting them).
The grounds overall are clean and neat. The pool area is small as is the pool itself, but most seem to head to the beach or sunbath out on there terrace. Sunbeds and garden furniture were easily available around the apartments, but not so around the pool (early risers putting towles down!)
An on-site mini mart helped with basics such as bread, drinks, milk etc.
Didn't use the restaurant, but heard from other guests the food wad good and cooked by a Scottish girl now living in G. Canaria.
Overall, very impressed. Good service, daily maid service and close to the action. Seems to attract a small gay/lesbian market due to its close proximity to the Yumbo centre (gay capital of G. Canaria) which made no difference to us. All guests are from the UK travelling with First Choice (who appear to own the property)."

Good value for Money
"Stayed at the Rebecca Park 5-12th March 2007, lovely little complex, nice bungalows, very very clean if a little worn. Kitchens have a mircrowave & toast, two ring hob but is very limited on other equipment.
Each bungalow has its own patio/garden area with sunbeds. Pool area is good with ample sun beds and no need for the dreaded "towel run" in the mornings. Good little pool bar with excellent valve for money snacks.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
There is no entertainment in the evening and the bar closes at 10.30 pm but as the complex is situatated in a triangle of shopping centres/bars etc this is not a problem.
It is a two minute walk to the Grand Chapel, 7 mins to the Yumbo centre and 10 mins to The Kasbah. 15 mins to the beach.
We flew with First Choice and could not fault them , however beware that if you are not taking a meal on the plane your return seats will be already allocated back in the UK and you will not be able swap once you get to the airport (we were stuck with two aisle seats despite going to the airport early to get window seats)
All in all a great little place for a cheap and cheerful hoilday."
