nice hotel ,and food ,(best i have had...
"nice hotel ,and food ,(best i have had on most days) ,full of spanish and germans few brits ,nice pool area ,and rooms ok ,very clean but pool area get.s messy (no cleaners on days ) good location very quiet (but i must say playa del ingles is very dirty place and needs re-built but this is only at the shops and bar area ) (sick all over brocken glass very run down place ) no good for familys but the 18 to 30 will love it very good beach .back to the hotel now the bad bit if you are a british person (or speak english )the bar staff are very slow and rude to serve you ,they will walk past you and serve a spanish or german etc first ,they will get your order wrong,will give you cheep drink where the rest get scotch whisky proper brands ect and bottle beer too the bar sfaff 9 out of 10 times went to a non british person first for there order most of the times ,even at meal time they left your dirty plates on table but bent over back words for others ,they even made my freind put on trousers for dinner as this was there dress code , but me and most others went in with shorts every day nice hotel but let down by bar staff (learn spanish and u will be ok)"

Much better than expected
"My boyfriend and me booked Hotel Caserio for one week in Juky with Half-Board before reading reviews. Having read all those we almost thought about cancelling our reservation and try to bok a different room.
When we arrived to the Hotel we were greeted by a very friendly reception team. We went u to our room and it was of good size, very clean (as well throughout the week) and all facilities you readlly need on a summer holiday. Most TV programms were in german, which was not a problem for us, as we both do speak german, but we actually did not go on holidays to watch TV. Breakfast was plenty, only the evening dinner was very onesided, every night almost the same, so we decided to go out on a couple of occassions with using the local knowledge of the reception team. Overall we had a good experience at Hotel caserio and if on another occasion a good deal would come up, we will return."

"arriving late at night we were told to go to the dining room where a plate of cold food was sat it looked unapetising and should have been hot so we retired to bed, not knowing that because we had been left this that on the last day food was to be paid for 11 euros each to be precise which we declined so watch out, we were half board but this meant that you did not get even a glass of water with your evening meal with out paying, this we feel was very mean, the entertainment was ajoke and as there were so few english in this hotel we spent most nights walking around the resort, being a mother and daughter this was with problems too, This hotel could be so much more but as it stands it has put me off going back to Gran Canaria"

Ok hotel, but not 4 star
"I booked this hotel through a travel agent and when I checked the reviews online I was terrified of this hotel I was bringing my wife to.
However on arrival we realized it wasn't all that bad. Yes the decor is very dated, the food is not quite up to 4* standard and the gym is a JOKE. However the hotel is very clean, the pool is nice and the staff are helpful. We didn't stay much in anyway as the weather was lovely and the island beautiful. I would recommend going to this hotel if you get a very good deal and are not too fussy about the accommodation."

Not A 4 Star Hotel!!
"We stayed at this Hotel in May and can honestly say it should not be rated as a 4 star Hotel. The service from the staff was not the best. The Restaurant was in the basement of the Hotel. The food was awful, okay if you like Garden peas or Carrots for Breakfast!
The rooms are basic although clean. The TV Channels are all in German and Spanish. The maid comes every day to clean your room but don't always expect to have a clean towel!
There are plenty of sun beds around the pool.
The Hotel is next to the main road where you do hear plenty of traffic.
Overall... This Hotel should not be classed as a 4 star. I would say a 2 or a 3 at its best.
We would not stay at this Hotel again."

Couldn't Fault It
"We have just returned today from a weekâs half board at the Caserio and I would be the first to complain if the quality and service was less that one would expect for a 4 star hotel.
The accommodation was what you would expect from a 4 star Spanish Hotel. Our room was large enough to accommodate another single bed; other bedrooms looked to be of a good size. The room was comfortable clean and supplied with extra blankets, and pillows etc. The bathroom was a good size with shampoo and shower gel in plentiful supply.
The restaurant doesnât enjoy the panoramic views some 4 star restaurants have and couldnât be described as palatial but it is clean and comfortable with a very good level of service. Once a course is finished the plates are cleared away immediately.
The food was excellent, plentiful, good quality, good flavour, well cooked and presented. There was an abundance of choice at breakfast (English and Continental) and the evening meal. The choice at the evening meal was very good, salad bar, soup, at least three choices for the fish course and three choices for the main course with one of the main courses cooked continually at the main food area. Dessert sweets and fruit were plentiful followed by cheese and biscuits if you could find room for them.
The pool area was clean and well maintained with a plentiful supply of sun beds, mattress and towels readily available.
The location was very good, far enough away from lively bars and night clubs not to be disturbed by the noise but close enough 300 metres to be able to avail yourself of the entertainment if required. Another 300 meters and you were at the centre of the local area The Kasbah with numerous bars and night clubs and a good atmosphere.
Entertainment was provided at the hotel if you wanted to take advantage, but through choice we maximised our time and visited the local venues each night.
All the staff were friendly and helpful, speaking English, there were several nationalities staying at the hotel, but hey thatâs not a problem.
I have stayed at Â£300 a night so called posh (snob value) 5 star hotels where the food and /or service of the staff has been far less than that of this hotel. Our experience was that the hotel was of a good standard, in a good location, the food was good to excellent, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back to this hotel it was very good value for the money we paid. (Â£480 one week half board including flights etc, it was half term)"

Never In This World A 4 Star
"We've just returned from a 2 week stay in the Caserio!!! If any of you reading this are spending a lot of money (like we did) , Finf yourself another hotel... This is no-more than 3 star (again at very best). With the staff everything is a problem! To keep it short and sweet, We won't be returning to the caserio."

No change for the better in 2006
"Went to this hotel for 1 week from 26th April to 2nd May2006 and what a big mistake!!, The reception was fine on arrival. The accommodation was poor and not at all in the 4 star market The room was clean and serviced daily although the towels left a lot to be desired either thread bare or with complete holes in them. The food was disgusting, at dinner there were all sorts of stange concotions in order for you to know what was what outline drawings of animals or fish were on display next to the offerings to assistwith your choiceThe food was out at 18.30 and was not topped up or replaced during the entire evening so the later you went in the worse state the food was in. there was no service with the exception of drinks. Breakfast was also a disgrace, again the food was ruined and not fit for consumption. Bread was good and you made your own toast and tea you couldn't go fatr wrong. We ate out a lot Maxamillions restaurant was superb. back to the hotel it closed on the 2nd May for renovation and maybe this was the problem, getting rid of the old stuff in the freezer in the closing days. The staff were not at all happy, some of them would have been ideal castings for bad girls!! you dare not speak to them,. Daily the number of loungers was reduced as the number of residents dwindled and on the last days there were just a dozen or so loungers left, The sauna , Gymnasium hairdresserer and other services associated with a 4 star hotel were all long gone. The evening entertainment was dire and consisted of Bingo a fashion show were 2 fit ladies changed there outfits in front of you, that was good but lasted a mere 10 minutes, The singing due were well past there sell by date as was there music. i have had more people in my lounge than were in this hotel during its dying days. It was even sadder on the last day when we finally got the answer to a continually asked question from day 1 can we have our room till the evening as we were not leaving for the airport till 20.00hrs No was the eventual reply well there was not exactly a rush of people due in there was only the builders. We were offered a shared room but when it was needed it was busy and we had to get washed and changed in the toilets. Customer care no stars, Hotel poor 2 at best. Good advise Book somewhere else"

hated the gerries
"my husband and i stayed there for two wks xnas & new year i think we were the only brits. the staff were lovely and couldnt do enough,but the entertainment was terrible,we never stayed longer than 10 mins.not 1 guest spoke to us as i think they were all germans,apart from agrunt on entering the lift while they looked us up and down as if we sh--. In the dinning room we were in between to german couples.who kept on talking to each other over our table igot so mad i kept on putting my cutlery down every time still didnt stop them. all in all lovely hotel, nice food, fantastic views from our room, just a pity about the guests. would i go back no at Â£2000 for 2 weeks we basicaly ate our meals and slept there"

caserio hotel fantastic
"we stayed at the caserio hotel 4* and thought it was fantastic
the staff we very friendly to everyone and couldnt do enough for you.
the hotel was lovely and clean and spacious .
the food was good we didnt like rabbit that was served one night but everything else was lovely to eat salad, cheeses, fish, steak, pasta vegetables and chips there was also a range of childrens meals
there was also entertainment laid on and not forgettting the bingo
we are aged 49 40 17 14."

Caserio Hotel - 4*? I don't think so!
"We booked 1 week at the Caserio Hotel in Gran Canaria through Med Hotels. We thought that we would get a reasonable standard as we were informed it was 4* half board.
Having now seen this hotel there is no way that it is 4* - it may have a telephone in the room and a shower, maybe the rating is achieved on a tick list, but it was in our opinion 3* at best.
Decor was very 80s and shabby. Food was terrible - on the first evening we tried the food and decided not to eat evening meals there but we thought we would give the breakfast a try in the morning. The following morning we were presented with a really poor display of pale bacon and sprouts (from the evening before). At that point we decided to not eat breakfast there either! Having paid for half board and now deciding to not eat anything there we contacted the rep - we were then able to pay extra to move to the Costa Meloneras (Maspalomas), which was stunning by the way, and we left immediately.
Our opinion - don't go to this hotel unless you are a big fan of Miami Vice decor and don't really care to eat much.
Oh, and if you want to go for the entertainment - on our first night we were treated to the delights of the 'Lets see which couple can wrap the other up in toilet role the quickest' competition'.
