quite an experience
"desperately needed to use internet on site but broken.fire escape permanently locked.take your luck getting in lift as we got stuck in it twice.rooms standard ok.excellent food in bar near pool but beware there are no signs to point you in the right direction.reception is a joke as most of time no one there.if you arrive late at night reception will not be open, your name will be on a piece of paper pinned to the wall, your room number next to your name and saying keys are in door.so anyone could walk in and take your room."

great place to stay
"just took a chance and booked this holiday on internet. when i read reviews on these apartments was a bit weary of staying there. on our arrival we was pleasantly surprised on what we seen. the only down side to these apartments is the reception. on arriving early hours no body was their on reception and we didn't no what to do until we noticed a letter pinned to wall telling you to ring a number for security to bring your key. apart from that they where spotless friendly and in an ideal location close to everything. maid service was excellent pool excellent. i will be going back to guinea apartments next year."

Great location, great value!
"If your looking for somewhere cheap in Inglas look no further! The apartments are of a good 2* standard and well kept. Cleaners seemed to come around 5 times in 7 days providing clean towels and new bedding. There is a good size fridge/freezer and 2 hobs. They also provide a frying pan, saucepan and coffee machine, along with plates, cups, etc.....
Apartments are 5 mins from the beach and night life. Only downside is if you hire a car you may struggle to find a space. Even though the apartments have parking spaces they won't allow guests to park there and the main gates are rarely open. There are parking spaces directly outside the apartments, however they are normally full. There is a car park near by which charge between 9am-9pm.
Had no problems with reception, if anything found them quite helpful."

Great for a basic, no-frills sun holiday!
"Our room was spotless - no cockroaches :-) - and cleaned every two days, with towels changed. Modern décor and furnishings, with a spacious lounge area and separate balcony. Cupboards were available, together with cash-slot TV. Sleeps two in the bedroom, with an optional third sleeping on the pull-out sofa, with extra blankets for them in the cupboard.
Kitchen had all necessary cutlery and crockery, with fridge/freezer and adjoining breakfast bar. Whilst there was no toaster, microwave or kettle, we had a pan to boil water for tea/ coffee on the two hobs available.
Hot water for the showers does run out quite quickly, with a third person having to be especially quick! However, a reasonable amount for two people... more than 15litres, I'm sure! lol
The apartments are within 3 minutes walk to the beach, coastal restaurants & shops and no more than 10 minutes walk to the bigger supermarkets & Yumbo nightlife (tip: go by the alleyways and steps that cut *across* the roads, rather than by pavement *along* the roads).
Reception's only open part-time (9am - 1pm, then 5 - 7pm, from memory) and not really much help nor that friendly. If you arrive outside these times, a key awaits you in your door lock, with an arrivals list of who's staying in which room on the wall next to reception. The package holiday folders at reception being in German, Swedish and OTHERS? indicate that the apartments aren't really geared towards English visitors, but no problems despite that.
Floor access is by stairs or two lifts available and the pool area was very clean and well looked after. The two English staff in the Club House (underneath the pool) were much more helpful than reception. They were happy to look after our suitcases after checking out, allowing us to freely go into town for the day, before we came back, used the shower block and left mid-afternoon.
We went in early March, where it seems the majority of guests are elderly couples during the winter months, so we didn't hear any noise during the nights, as below. The weather was reported as being around 20Cs just before we were going, so we were pleasantly surprised to enjoy at least 25Cs during the day and 16Cs in the evening.
Overall, was pleased with what we got, for what we paid and would come back again for the same type of holiday.
Liked - Location, cleanliness, facilities, nice large lounge & balcony and weather.
Disliked - Limited hot water and reception.
CAR RENTAL: Finally, a warning for everyone who plans to rent a car in Playa del Ingles. The car we rented from JETZ (blue leaflets) was dangerous to drive. The brake pads were completely worn out, we could hear metal rubbing against metal when breaking and it got more than a bit scary when we got to the steepy narrow roads in the mountains!!! Make sure that the car you renting is in good condition, otherwise overall great holidays can turn into a little bit of a survival camp! :-)"

Nice but Noisy
"The apartments are good by all accounts, clean, well kept, spacious and have everything you need for a comfortable stay during a holiday. It is very close to all of the major attractions in Playa Del Ingles including the nightlife, restaurants, the beach and plenty of supermarkets and shops. The only complaint i would have is that during our stay the apartments were very noisy during the early hours of the morning (by early hours i mean from around 3am till about 7 am when people are coming back from the bars and clubs). These apartments do attract a fair number of younger groups looking for a wild week away in the sun, so no shortage of entertainment but also no shortage of chaos at night time. The main reason as i could see it for the noise was that there was nobody on duty at the apartments overnight hence no-one in an 'official' position to tell them to pipe down. If you are looking for a place to party, these are great, if you are looking for a quiet week away, go elsewhere."

It hit our spot very nicely
"Well located for the beach and for the one of the main nightlife centres. We were more interested in the Yumbo - 10 minute walk was not too far for us. The best thing was the great weather we had. Early March but a high of nearly 25c every day.
The Kitchen had the basics and the fridge freezer was quite big. microwave, 2 electric rings, nice (small) breakfast bar, and nice balcony. The place generally has clearly been looked after and looks reasonably freshly painted. Wasn't entirely convinved by the security of the doors, but we didn't have a problem ourselves and there was no hint of problems from anyone else.
The pool was very clean and well looked after.
Booking wise I saw something on Telextext and booked through a company called SunSplash - no frills but no problems - though we did get a BA flight.
The main reason we chose this one was there were 3 of us and we didn't want to pay a massive single person supplement for the one room - so this worked out quite cheaply.
The food in the resort is pretty low rent, and we had to get in a taxi and ask for a spanish restaurant.
We enjoyed a day at Aqualand too - especially as there were virtually no queues in early March. If there are more than two of you don't go on the bus as the taxi is the same price but much quicker."

Friendly but basic
"We have just returned from a ten day break staying at the Guinea apartments in Playa Del Ingles, Gran Canaria. The apartments are very basic which we knew about before going but we did encounter a couple of problems whilst there. There was a lot of cockroaches in our apartment especially around the kitchen area. They were coming out of everywhere. We were given an aerosol to spray around the work surfaces to try and keep the buggers at bay. Also we struggled with the "hot water system". Apparently, the apartments only have a 15 litre tank so when its gone its gone - well you have to wait for it to fill up and heat up again. A little annoying when theres a group of you staying in the apartment - there were four of us and we had to start bathing/showering early so as to all get some hot water.
That aside we had a brill time and the rep (Jackie) looked after all our needs. The hotel staff were good fun too especially Nino + Senni. At a push we would go back to the Guinea apartments purely down to the very good price we got the accomodation for."

Cheap, Cheerful and Clean
"If you are only looking for a bed, bathroom, balcony and bidet then the Guinea apartments are for you. This 2 star accommodation was extremely spacious and would easily bed 3-4 people. It had a seperate bedroom, bathroom, lounge and kitchenette area and was very clean. Each have their own balcony. It really is a no frills apartment with all the basics for a cheap holiday, clean and comfortable break. The room also had a fridge in and a tv if you wanted to hire it. All floors have access to them by stairs and a lift. The pool and toilets were exceptionally clean and maintained with a maid coming in every other day. The staff are exceptionally helpful and obliging and on hand 24 hours a day. We had the misfortune to have our cases misrouted to Madrid, but the apartment staff offered to lend us money til they came. They are situated just 2-3 minutes from the beach and local disco spot and a 5 minute walk to the popular Yumbo centre. In all, it really is a basic apartment block with basic facilities within easy reach of all the places to be. The rooms are a little bit dated and could do with a bit of maintenace but hay, they are always in constant use and poplar with young people and families so wear and tear??? As a seasoned traveller myself people should not be put off by the sight of an odd cockroach or ant in hot countries. I have stayed in some 5* luxury places abroad and seen more cochroaches than I have ever done in more cheaper hotels - a sign of a hot, humid climit where sanitation generally isn't as robust as the UK."

Guinea apartments ideal for young singles!
"If you are looking for a budget holiday with plenty of sun, sea and ..... sangria - then you can't beat Playa Del Ingles. This was our second trip to the island, both times we visited in April - which is a relatively quiet month with few English people. However - if you want to dance the night away with your friends with no hassle then this is the place for you.
The Guinea apartments are right in the action - 5 minutes walk from the nightlife. The hotel was clean, and generally maintained to a good standard. Dont expect luxury - the hotel is basic, but ideal for groups of friends and couples looking for a cheap and cheerful getaway. A large cockroach was there to greet us on our arrival but we didnt see any after that, thankfully! Room had a television, fridge freezer and cooking equipment, but no kettle or toaster which was disappointing.
Pool area kept clean at all times, Nino and staff at the Guniea cafe provided great food and service throughout our stay.
Nightlife was great - ChinaWhite staff treated us like celebs and we had a good laugh with the barmen - especially fit Jeorge (Quebo) and Jimmy (Peter Andre lookalike!) Plenty of other bars 'down the steps' too with lots of attractive bar workers - male and female!
Our group consisted of 4 girls aged 23-26 and we had a wicked time - would recommend to anyone looking for a cheap hol and a bit of sun!"

"Just got back on 27-02-11 and had a fantastic holiday, apartments are just back from the beach and if your on the 6th or 7th floor you get a sea view. Apartment was clean and tidy with the maid coming in every other day and during the 7 nights we were there we had our bed linen and towls changed halfway. Cant fault the accomodation, yes hot water will run out but the small tank will quickly reheat. Car park at the rear was a real money saver if you hire a car. Small supermarket and bank were at the rear and 100yds away. Road outside was not noisy and led to the main walkway above the beach road. The beach is 5 min walk and there are plenty of good places to eat nearby. Kitchen facilities were good with microwave, toaster, coffee maker and very large fridge/freezer. There were 5 of us and the bed settee was comfortable. Dont know why anyone would complain as this was a great apartment for the price that we paid."
