Very friendly and helpful
"My husband and I have just returned from Gran Canaria where we stayed at the Liberty Apartments.
We arrived at one o'clock in the morning and although the night receptionist did not speak English, he had our room key ready for us and managed to tell us that all enquiries could be made later that day. Do not be put off by the entrance to the Apartment block.
We were pleasantly surprised by our apartment which was on the third floor overlooking the pool, and had a terrace with table and chairs. The beds were very comfortable and the power shower was really good. Very good cooking facilites if needed and the linen and towels were changed every other day.
The Casbah is great for shopping, clubs and restaurants and only 10-15 minutes walk away. The Yumbo Centre is closer and has three floors. Lots of bargains to be had, and you can haggle.
There is an Italian restaurant next to Liberty Apartments where the food is very fresh and well cooked, and like all restaurants in Gran Canaria very reasonable."

"Myself and a friend stayed in the liberty apartments in march. We have been to playa del ingles 3 times previously and stayed in differecnt accomodation each time. I must say the liberty apartments are one of the best if not the best we have stayed in.
The apartments do not look appealing from the outside but once inside it is different completely (you should never judge a book by its cover).
We arrived mid afternoon and although the receptionist was having siesta nothing was to much trouble for him.
Our apartment was on the second floor and facing the road, although other people have said it was noisy, yeah fair enough when the doors and windows are open but if you shut them the noise dissappears. The facilities in the room for coooking etc are fantastic although we eat out all the time. The bathroom was llarge and the power walk in shower was excellent. The bedroom was average size with loads of room for clothes etc etc, beds were very comfortable. The apartment for the 2 of us was very very large. The cleaners cleaned every other day and towels were changed x2 weekly. Overall a fanstatic apartment. The pool was great nice and relaxed atomosphere with a pool bar which has a excellent range of drinks and snacks.
The locations is central and is a only a couple of mins walk to the yumbo centre and 10 miins from the kasbah.
The hotel would appeal to younger or older people groups or singles.
We have booked to go back to liberty for 2 weeks in novemeber and are ppossibly going in september 2.
DONT HESISTATE BOOK THE LIBERTY
we booked thru first choice and the rep was fantastic."

Fab fab fab
"Group of 16 of us went for the Mardi gras and had a blast. When you arrive at the apartments the sign for the apartments does not fill you with enthusiasm but look beyond that and you will find large apartment rooms. The bathrooms have great power showers which definately have the wake up effect. We had a pool side balcony and it was very quiet during the night, i believe the road side balconys have more noise. The room was cleaned every other day and was very very clean.
The pool area again was very clean and there is a bar serving drinks, breakfasts and burgers etc.
The staff were helpfull and full of smiles"

have booked to return
"Myself and a friend stayed in these apartments for the first time in oct, i was not too sure what to expect after reading so many conflicting reports but all i can say is that i was pleasanlty suprised. I could not fault either the staff or the apartments. The room was comfortable, we did have a room that runs along the main road and although the traffic can be noisy at times it's not unbearable. There are ceiling fans which do give some relief to the heat and they were in the middle of having air con put into the rooms. The staff were very obliging and you didn't have to get up early to save a sun bed by the pool, as there were plenty to go around. Food snacks are available at the poolside bar as well as drinks, and these are reasonably priced. There were only a couple of families staying whilst we were there and i would say that these apartments are better suited for couples or groups of younger people. Although there were people returning from a night out at all hopurs of the night, (including us) ,we were never disturbed by this and unsociable behaviour is not tolerated. The location is great and pretty much central to everything. As i said i was pleased with these apartments and had an absolutely fantastic holiday, needlessl to say we have already booked to return to these apartment in May 07. So don't be put off by any damning reviews go and see for yourself you will be pleasantly suprised."

"As stated by other reviewers, the apartments are clean, well located and of an above average standard in terms of equipment, furntiture etc.
They're a great bet if you want to be near the Yumbo and in the centre of things. The road view rooms are noisy (the Ave de Tirajada is a busy dual carriageway). There was building works directly underneath us which didn't help!
The main problem we experienced was that the apartments were overbooked and we were forced to stay the first two nights at Dolores Apartments (also owned by Libery Group). The Dolores Apartments were much smaller, no-where near the same location and we had an infestation of ants and my partner swears she saw a cockroach! Doubtless they're cheaper, but I'd booked and paid for Liberty! This happened to another couple that we met - so beware! I've complained to our travel agent (a website) and the guys we met who'd experienced the same thing had had two days refunded -but they booked directly with the apartments.
I'd check with the apartments if you're going there soon, and if you can help it, arrive earlier rather than later in the day."

Cha Cha slide
"Hotel was nice and clean and just what we wanted; a cheap place to sleep and to sun bathe in the day and this did the job!
When we arrived, our names were not on the accomodation list, but after sweet talking the manager it was sorted. We also requested a pool side view which was great as there were many complaints about the noise from the road side view (ASK FOR POOL VIEW)!!!
Great, except they played the CHA CHA SLIDE every 10 MINUTES and this was extremely annoying at the pool side, especially with chavvy famililies trying to dance to it!!!
Otherwise, a good all round hotel."

Great location but noisy at front
"The Liberty apartments were great, although a but noisy because we had a road view only 2 floors up. As others have said & I can only back it up, they were spotlessly clean, beds very comfy, good cooking facilities, although we only used the microwave (to warm up some croissants), the kettle & the toaster. But there were plenty of pans, etc if you wanted to cook on the two electric rings.
The walk in shower was the best we have ever had in any hotel or apartments. The TV has some free channels (the only one in English was Sky news) but there were others that your paid for at 1 Euro per hour. In reception theres are tow computers online which cost 1 Euro for 16 mins, which is enough to check up & send emails. We did not use the pool but that was our fault because we are not poll people so I cannot make any comments on it. The Yumbo Centre is 10 mins away & the Kashbar Centre is 15 mins.
The beach, & I must admit I turned back when we got to the nudist part, is 20 mins walk down but 30 mins back up but in that time you could weigh yourself loads of times because there are lots of 50 cents a time weighing machines everywhere. On eating out, I reckon you could go there for a whole month & eat in a different place every night. Up the road is a super market were you can get fresh fruit, deli counter & everything you should need including freshly baked bread. This whole area is only 30 mins max from the airport.
Our only problem with this island is that it is a four & a half hour flight from Manchester & with not being able to get extra legroom seats made getting my 6 ft 1 ins into a normal seat very, very uncomfortable. We will not be going back again (but we seldom do go back a second time anywhere, but mainly because of the long flight."

"We booked 4 weeks at the liberty in august 06. The room was perfect. We requested a high room & pool view, however we got a road view on top floor. The noise from the road is loud with the balcony door & bedroom window open. Once closed its virtually silent thanks to the double glazing. It can get hot in the room but they have free air conditioning! When we first arrived it was not working which didnt worry us but for the last 2 weeks it did work & was wonderful.
The whole building has undergone a recent renovation & everything was brand new & modern! Kitchen area was perfect and included a microwave. Bathroom was lovely with a large walk in shower. Bedroom had 2 single beds pushed together which were VERY comfy! Balcony was ideal with table & chairs.
The pool area was large with a snack bar serving food & drinks all day. If you didnt get up by 10am you might find it hard to get a sunbed, but this could be due to us staying in august. As the pool area had also been renovated they had brand new sunbeds which were very comfy!
The liberty is officially a 1key property but deserves at LEAST a 3star it's a great place and very clean, the maids did an excellent job even helped to kill the odd cockroach if they were around in the corridoors (we never had them in the room)!
The staff were very helpful, we had a small problem with our toilet & as it was 8pm nobody could fix it, the man from the front desk came to help & said as it was broken & wouldnt flush he would give us the card to another room opposite which we could use untill the morning when they could fix ours! The only other problem we had was on a few occasion we did not have any hot water and twice no water at all, but this was sorted very quickly & didnt cause any big problems.
Location is great, Yumbo just a 5 minute walk away & Kasbah centre about 10 minutes away, unfortunately the beach was a good 25-30 minute walk down a gentle hill but taxis are cheap.
Our room worked out around £21 a night which in peak season is very cheap! The Liberty is an excellent complex & excellent value with very friendly & helpful staff we would love to stay here again."

A very pleasant surprise
"Stayed at the liberty from 7sept for 2 weeks and was pleasantly surprised. Booked 2 appartments and they were spotless and the staff were great. Lots of bars and shops nearby + the Yumbo.
We are in our 60s and found a good mix of people at the Liberty .
The only niggle was the 7 steps up to reception ( my son in law is in a wheelchair) . But for a late season break its very good value."

Booking for next year already!!!!
"I cant rave about this place anymore....... everything was totally
perfect which was not what i expected at all.
Im a Travel agent for First Choice so booked The Liberty through
work for me and my 8 friends. We stayed for 2 weeks from the
25th september 2006. I booked property more so for its location
as me and my mates are gay and so wanted to be as close to the Yumbo Centre as possible. The pictures in the brochure
also looked nice too and i was pleased to hear the apartments
had recently been refurbished.
The flight over was great, no delays and we arrived at our hotel at
8.30pm to a welcomed smile from the receptionist. We were directed to the 2 floor and at that point we were more focased on getting into our rooms, getting changed and heading out on the town but we were all taken back by the amazing rooms. Really spacious for all three of us, the bathroom was really stylish although to my mates horror it didnt have a bath (im totally a shower freeeek).
After a night on the tiles at the hotspots in the Yumbo Centre (Ricky's Bar, Kareoke Bar Wigs and Beads, Mykonos and Mantrix), we ventured down to the pool area the next day.
We were all so impressed with the green lush garden area with huge palm like trees and even a little love shack!!!! The pool was perfect in size and not too cold and there were always sun loungers free as the hotel wasent overly crowded.
I read somewhere on here that the food at the pool bar was really bad and over priced but i couldnt disagree more unless im just used to paying too much. I became addicted to their Ham and Cheese toasties with chips and salad costing only 3.50 euros, a bargin in my eyes. Staff were always happy to have a laugh with you and to put whatever music you wanted on (i actually left one of my CD's there so if u find Club Classix its great).
The Rep was a total star and we even swapped numbers. Great welcome meeting even though i played up somewhat and that night we went on the Bar Crawl around Kasbar (China Whites, Pacha, Minsitry and Cream) one of the best nights of my holiday and we didnt even know they filmed the whole thing along with fotos which we purchased the lot of.
It was my birthday out there too and so we went on a camel safari which last about 20 minutes and was so funny (they stink to high heaven). Water park is a good day out too.
We also visited the man made tropical beach near puerto rico which was out of this world and toatlly free, just have to catch the 39 bus to puerto rico and then jump in a taxi to amodores beach.
Just one last mention, you must go to the Irish centre as they give away so many drinks. We got dragged in one night and they gave us 3 drinks for the price of 1 plus 2 bottles of champagne and a bottle of peach snapps.......... it couldnt get any better.
We are looking at dates next year to go back cause it was so fantastic so if you come across a bad review dont even read it, unless your royality you should find no fault with this place.
Have a wicked time!!!!!"

Fabulous Stay As Always :-)
"Tony and Phil.
We have both stayed at Liberty many many times and as always, we cannot fault the hotel and the team who work there. Pancho, Angela (now sadly left) Carmello, Javier and all the house keeper welcome us as though we're family.
The cleanliness of the bedding, hotel and Poolside are perfect. Book your stay with Liberty and you'll never go wrong :-)"

"This was my first visit to the Liberty apartments, we had a warm welcome after a 5 hour delay from our flight so we did not arrive until the early hours of the morning.
The apartments were ready for us, both had a pool view as we requested, they were clean and very roomy.
All the staff (including cleaners) were very hospitable throughout the stay.
The pool area and poolside bar were cleaned everyday except sunday, but that did not matter because the people staying there were all respectful of the staff and kept it reasonably clean.
The other guests were very pleasant and greeted us which made the stay even more accommodating.
The apartments are situated in a prime area with easy access to the Yumbo centre (5 min walk)and taxi's galore right outside the door if you needed one.
My only gripe, and it is a small one, the breakfast, which cost 5 euros could have been a little bigger, this was not a problem though because we were able to walk to the Yumbo centre and have a full breakfast for the same price.
All in all, we had a fabulous stay at the Liberty, we made new friends and would definately stay there again.
