Paradise - but don't go on a Spanish bank holiday!
"We couldn't believe our luck when we saw our lovely bungalow surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers, it is such a pretty place with 4 swimming pools to chose from. For the first 4 days we felt like we were in paradise as it was so pretty and quiet around the pool. Unfortunately what we hadn't expected was the Spanish invasion on the last 3 days (their bank holiday was the same as ours the last weekend of May) you could not get a sunbed as they put their towels out all day even though they hardly occupied them?! that was annoying as you wouldn't mind so much if they were being used. Once we realised this was how it was going to be we decided to explore the Island and spend longer at the beach which we usually only went to until 1pm as it was so hot you needed to come back for the shade (not to mention the All Inclusive Food & Drinks - Ahhh lovely Sangria!) The food was very good with plenty to chose from & you could help yourself to Wine, Beer, Fizzy drinks etc at the dining hall too. The beach is very pretty with the sand dunes & its only a 15min stroll (following the flood defense which runs alongside the hotel) you walk past the Dunas Suites which is part of this hotel (they only have separate dining halls (so All Inclusive not valid there) but you can use their swimming pools if you want, however I found it was much more expensive to stay their before booking & I honestly can't see why? We booked an All Inclusive boat trip on the walkway to the beach for 35 euros which was well worth doing (very pretty coastal trip - they do look for dolphins also, the All Inclusive includes unlimited drink (beer, sex on the beach cocktail & fizzy drinks) paella, cakes, fruit and banana boat rides! you can go in for a swim when they stop but don't bother to snorkel - no fish! take seasickness tablets & suncream & enjoy the views. We took a bus to Porto De Mogan which they call little venice because it has a stream with small bridges running through it. It has a pretty with a lovely beach and it was well worth the bus journey of 3 or 4 euros each way to see the views of the coastal road it takes. The bus stop is about 10 minutes away - turning left on leaving the hotel then 1st right until you see another flood defense which you follow to the main road & its located down the road from a Texaco Garage & runs every 20mins. Evening entertainment at the hotel was OK but aimed most of the evening for kids & the Faro shopping centre was almost all shut down?. We got a taxi to Playa del Ingles a few nights (only 4 euros to the Yumba Centre) which had lots of shops bars and resturants. Our favourite evening was spent at the Drag Show which was fantastic & the drag artists are more than happy to pose for photographs, it was free to enter & the bar staff kept glasses full on request, great fun. To the right of the lighthouse at the beach is Melonares (very up market shops, all the 5 star hotels are here - good for people watching & window shopping though! Nice bars & restuarants. I am sure you will love it here as it exceeded our expectations."

good hotel ,appart from (RULOF )animacion
"he arrived late at nite,so was really friendly of Antonio the get somethink for us to eat, next day spend all day on the pool, were both tired except r 4 year old son.found same friendly kids and were all enjoying themselves till this ,animator (RULOF),kept telling us all the parent that the kids are making to much noise ,no kids on the stage,no kids on dancing floor, because people dance floor was for dancing not for the kids. The stage he was correct, safety of the kids, but then on the bingo night he put a table on the top of another ,and close felt on top of a kids,(maybe not safe)./then on the last day,he was really close to trap the finger of my kid, while closing his door. for the manager all the staff were great ,but this animator,if he dont like is job or kids they maybe telling the get another job, and maybe deal only with adult .so parent can enjoy they holiday with the kids, and then to enjoy themselves."

"A little care is needed here â two facilities share the same site. These are: Dunas Maspalomas Avda. Air Marin and Dunas Suites & Villas Avenida Sunair, Be very careful when giving instructions to taxi drivers etc for pick ups! This review is for the three star Dunas Maspalomas Advantages ⢠Accommodation clean and spacious ⢠Landscaped surrounds ⢠Fully equipped (bar kettle for some reason â but you can always use a pan or microwaveâ¦) ⢠Left luggage facility ⢠Free wifi ⢠Good range of food ⢠Reasonably priced ⢠Numerous pools ⢠Nearby bus stops ⢠On site shop â but as previously mentioned not cheap! ⢠Patio and rear enclosed clothes drying area ⢠Quiet ⢠Friendly cats!!!! Disadvantages (minor ones for me!) ⢠At least 15 mins from beach and shops (Itâs just over a mile). ⢠Little variety in vegetables in the restaurant â for example I never saw cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage peas or green beans on the menu! ⢠One cockroach. Inevitable I fear â but no other bugs managed to get in. Conclusion Recommended â and Iâd stay there again."

Perfect when travelling with small kids.
"Quite, garden like place with several pool areas that differ from each other. Places to play and the yards in front of the bungalows allow kids to enjoy and parents to relax. We are going there again this year!"

"We are one of the many victims of the Trip Advisor overload, as we have trolled through many reviews of all sorts hotels/villas for many hours to find our 'perfect' holiday destination, and we still did not have a clue what to expect! As people can certainly moan about anything! We have just came back from a weeks stay at Dunas Maspalomas bungalows and it was perfect! From our short transfer from the Airport to the resort, we arrived at a clean spacious reception area. We were quickly given our all inclusive wrist bands and then were presented with a map of the resort ( as it was spread out ) and where our bungalow was situated. We made our way through the manicured gardens and were pleasantly suprized at our very own little abode, with a tiny patio with table and chairs. It was very clean inside and spacious. It was directly outside one of the pools...so managed to get the towels out before the morning rush. All inclusive is the way to go, even if you are a pickie eater there was still an huge amount of choice and all very tasty. The alcohol was also good, and was not the normal cheap nasty stuff we are used too at a 'All Inclusive' resort. Oh and we only saw one cockroach...of course not a nice creature to see! Now it sounds like we are an 'easliy pleased' sort of folk, but we are far from it, we are in our early 30's and work hard for a living, so take it from me, if you need to take a little week in the sun, to relax and fancy putting on a few pounds then Dunas is the place for you!"

Nice modest place
"We were staying here for 1 week thru Finnish travel operator, Finnmatkat. Place was clean and rooms were cleaned daily. Service was ok but nothing special. We had breakfast every morning which was nice and gave us a good start for the day. We had lunch and dinner every day outside the hotel area. Unfortunately there is only few restaurants near by. Others are only accessible by taxi (taxis are cheap). Rooms are modest, bit old but functional. I wouldn't stay at the hotel if it was raining but sunshine forgives a lot. Pools are clean and some are heated. Hotel's own supermarket is robbery, prices are very high and service is very poor. Next supermarket is about 1 km away."

fgantastic time away for a pre-wedding couple
"This was my 1st holiday abroad since i was 14, so 9 years ago. I loved it, the staff were great the food was good. we were on a S/C basis but that was fine. we dined at a place down by the coast almost every night, fab food there, massive variaty....pubs all over and not bad prices too. at the hotel the rooms were avrige and no air conditioning but a fan can be hired for a small price from reception for a small price. Great entertainment on an evening for the adults and children, a nice relaxing and great family hotel, i cant wait to go back there again, relaxing break and loads to do in fuerterventura....please try it out, you wont regret it, especially if you have kids. fantastic night life out side of the hotel too."

dunas suites maspalomas
"We spent 2 weeks in the Dunas suites form 17/11/2008 to 1/12/2008, overall, we had a very enjoyable holiday, the food was good and always plenty of variety, unfortunately it did suffer a very comman fault with Buffet presentation and that is it was frequently not hot enough but at least there was a microwave on hand. The staff were extremley polite and helpful and nothin' was too much trouble. There were several pools, mostly heated and usually sufficient sunbeds,so we avoided a 3rd world war with the Germans. The only major citiscism we have with the hotel was the very poor and amateurish evening entertainment, it was for us one of the worst we have ever encountered. There were no vocalists or instrumentalists and all the acts were miming to background music, they might just as well have asked the guests to perform. An exception to this and which could have been one highlight for me was a cartoon of my beloved 'Foghorn Leghorn'which was shown on a large screen between the childrens evening slot and the adult entertainment. However, they also managed to ruin this by substituting the caracter sounds with some awful heavy rock music, they definitely need a new entertainment manager."

Attention all holidaymakers do not waste...
"Attention all holidaymakers do not waste your money on this resort it is infested with HUGE COCKROACHES that scuttle over everything we even had the misfortune of two travelling back in our luggage with us!The staff are rude & unhelpful the food is freezing cold ALL the time! The heated pools are like ice water! There is one english TV channel CNN which repeats every 10mins so if you do get a downpour whilst over there you re bored out of your brains! The only thing that this resort has going for it is that it is visually stunning but thats no comfort when you ve got cockroaches in your bed on your toothbrushes near your food on the walls curtains etc you get my drift!Disgusting!"
