SBH Club Paraiso Playa

"All in, this was a very good holiday experience, nothing that needed to be complained about. The Staff were very good and the Animation team worked very hard and all spoke good English. Rooms were spacious and comfortable with massive wardrobes a quality safe, free tv, aircon, a telephone in each room. Every room has a balcony or terrace overlooking the sea. Maids come in everyday and are very thorough. If you are traveling independently make sure you have an idea where the hotel is on the island as it could be hard to find. see directions below . Food was plentiful with lots of choice and was presented to a high quality. This hotel is very isolated 10km from the nearest facilities. However the beach is just at the back of the pools down a flight of stairs, and there are plenty of sports to play on site also with 2 day bars you can eat and drink whenever you want. YOU WILL SEE NAKED PEOPLE ON THE BEACH as Esquinso is a very popular Naturist/Nudist Beach. You are very likely to meet naked people in the free Hotel Sauna and Turkish Bath so be warned if this may upset you. Beach towels can be rented from reception which saves filling suitcases with towels. Down the steps to the beach and turn left and walk to the cliffs and you can feed the Chipmunks with peanuts they are really funny and take nuts from your hand. If you are looking for a lively holiday I would say look elsewhere as the evening entertainment is limited to Mini Disco, Mime/Dance Shows , Bingo, & Quiz. Snake Show , Flamenco Show, Riverdance Show. Our first week we were the only English in the hotel which was fine with us as we dont like the loud Brit holiday culture. second week about 3 other Brit families. The rest of the guests were mainly German & French with a sprinkling of most other european countries, a nice crowd of people. The staff could all understand us and communicate with us. if you try to use a little Spanish the are even better. From the airport follow the main road down the island past Costa Caletta, Costa Calma and the take the turn off the motorway to MAL NOMBRE at the second roundabout take the BETHIHONDA turning. The only building on this road is the Sunrise Paraiso Playa on the left. Journey time from airport at speed limit is about 1hr15mins on very good roads. The cheapest car we could find was LOW COST CARS at £234 for 14 days Bad bits As with most all inclusive buffet situations the food needed to be kept hotter as in a lot of cases it was just below warm. However there were microwaves available if needed. I would have been happier if the Tomato Ketchup, Mustard etc had been kept in a small refrigerator and not left on the side of the serveries. We flew with Ryan Air but they are stopping flights to Fuerteventura. Easy Jet do go Luton to Madrid to Fuerteventura at a good price. A Great holiday not a Football (except on the sports court) or a Yobbo in sight we loved every minute "

"A very relaxing two week holiday in an excellent hotel. They seem to have got more or less everything right to keep their guests very happy. The hotel is in Esquinzo a small "village" about 2 miles outside Jandia, and as stated in other reviews there isn't really abything else around the hotel. The reception is very grand with the sea view side just a wall of glass. We were checked in immediately upon arrival with no problems at all. Our room was excellent, very clean and bright, with a lovely view over the children's pool to the sea. Our daughter's travel cot was in place and made up as requested, and was in very good condition. When we stayed there were roughly 200-300 guests in total, which meant we never queued for anything as the hotel has a capacity for somewhere around 900 guests. Sun beds were always available and we were able to use the sunbeds around us too. The staff were great, from reception, cleaning, restaurant and animation they all went out of there way to keep you happy. The hotel manager was always around making sure everything was running as it should. The food was pretty good, a good variety every night and a themed night on Thursdays (Italian and Spanish for our 2 weeks). The hotel guests are about 90% German so the food tends slightly to their tastes, but as we're pretty fond of German food anyway it kept us happy! The desserts are great too, you'll always find room for some no matter how much you've eaten. There are 2 other eating places in the hotel outwith meal times; a smaller restaurant on the second floor facing the pool which also has a staffed bar, and a "beach bar" at the very back of the hotel that serves fast food from 11-5. Both of these have self service beer and soft drinks available. Beach towels - had to go to reception and pay a â¬20 deposit for these, no longer supplied with the room. The beach towels had seen better days to be honest. Pools - there are 2 main pools and a childrens pool. Now here is my only real complaint about the hotel. One of the pools can be heated, but it wasn't during the whole time we were there. Even on the hottest days, my daughter could only stay in the children's pool for about a half hour before getting very cold, resulting in a screaming match as we had to bring her out. Having any sized pool that was actually heated would have been a god-send to keep the kids amused for longer than 30 minutes at a time. There were actually days where we never saw anyone use any of the pools! What a waste. There is air conditioning in the rooms, but during our first week it only worked in the afternoons, which didn't help anyone get a good night's sleep. On the second week it started working through the night too. We did visit the beach for one morning and it is lovely further along to the right of the hotel, and you do get used to naked people walking past after about 20 minutes. The steps down from the hotel are a bit of a chore, but the climb back up with toddler in arms was a bloody hard workout! I'd heartily recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a week or two lying around a pool getting a great sun tan. The wind in Fuerteventura certainly helps keep you cool in the baking sun. I don't think we'd go back with a toddler as the daily gamble between sunburn, boredom or hypothermia was a bit too much like hard work."

"An excellent family orientated hotel. Rooms are kept very clean, with all towels etc (inc. Beach Towels) being supplied. The choice of food is fantastic in the Dining Room, with several choices being available every day, everything from Paella's, Veal, plenty of fish, pork steaks plus all the extras. The All-Inclusive option is well worth it, as there are snacks available virtually all day, ranging from salads, burgers, hot-dogs, paella, cakes etc. Drinks are also available all day, with Beer, soft drinks, coffee, water etc being self service, with spirits being served from the bar or by waiters. Ice Cream is also on tap all day. Entertainment was excellent, with something on virtually every night. The kids are also well catered for during the day and evening. The town of Jandia is a short 1 Euro bus ride away, but it is a little too far to walk. Nothing else much around the hotel though, and the beach, nice as it is, is at the bottom of quite a lot of steps, so not suitable for everyone. Great hotel, and would go back tomorrow. "

"My husband and two children went to the Sunrise in august 2006 we had a fantastic time. The hotel was beautiful and clean the food was very good. The weather was really hot, the only thing was some days it was so so windy but you could cope with it. The staff and cleaning people were very helpful and friendly. As for the entertainment, they were amazing, the shows were great and they were really nice people. The main people were German but we made some lovely friends with them. A few English but it did not matter. If you like pork and fish then the food is ideal for you, but there are wonderful salads. The 3 pools were clean and kids went swimming all day, they did not even want to go to the kids clubs. I would say you should try this hotel with out a doubt. "
