A great holiday
"We have just returnrd from a week stay at the Drago Hotel and we had a great time, the staff were welcoming, our room was clean and airy with air conditioning although we didnt need it as the tempreture dropped at night and we needed the blankets provided, the bed were twin rather a double which we would have prefered,as we kept falling down the gap,my hubands matress was lumpy with a dip in the middle when we complained the matress was changed within the hour. The food is ok plenty of choices for main courses but the deserts were the same every evening mainly jelly and cake. The entertainments rep Ramiro was was brilliant working non stop throughout the day and evening encouraging everyone to participate he could speak 5 languages and always found time to speak to everyone making them feel welcome, he is an assett to the hotel. We could not comment on other activitys outside the hotel as we just chilled by the pool, the weather was lovely and we returned feeling refreshed. The pool was freezing forgot about that "

Horrendous start no rooms.
"On 9 September about 1pm arrived at hotel to be informed at reception that the hotel had no rooms available.Another couple from the same transit bus but from a different flight were told the same. We 4 persons were sent by taxi to the Golden beach hotel to spend the first night of our holiday at this hotel. While at the Golden Beach hotel we met 2 other couples who had also been told by Drago Park that there were no rooms available. All 4 couples returned to the Drago Park on Saturday 24 September where we were all allocated rooms. While at the Drago Park we met other couples from the previous weeks arrivals who had a similar experience on there arrival. The same scenario happened to 3 other couples who arrived at the hotel at the end of our first week stay. We were there for 2 weeks some of the other couples were on 10 days and others on 7 day holidays. This seems to be a problem for Friday arrivals and from my experience mainly affecting persons from UK flights. "

"this was the best holiday i have ever been in trust me the cleaners come every day, the food is good and hot all the time, every night the food was different and good. It varied from chips every night and meat every night, there was always a vegetarian option which was salad, veggie burgers. The hotel room was nice because it wasn't too crowded and not too little inside it. IF I WAS YOU I WOULD BOOK THIS HOLIDAY FOR THE SUMMER"

VERY NICE EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY
"We had a short stay (3 days) at this hotel as part of our first visit to fuerteventura. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly efficient receptionist, checked in without any fuss and directed to our room. The hotel is very nice, staff are friendly and courteous, it was exceptionally clean, The food was very good during our stay always hot and freshly cooked The hotel is situated well away from the beach area of costa calma but dont let this put you off, there is a free bus service from the hotel to the beach and the rest of costa calma (not really much at costa calma anyway apart from lots of sea and sand and much more expensive hotels) we used a taxi to return from costa calma and were charged 3 euros, if you prefer to walk it is about fifteen minutes but most of it is uphill. The hotel pool area was very nice, there was a gym, football pitch/tennis court and a childrens play area. We stayed here from the 3 to the 5th of June and there seemed to be about 40 other guests (so no queues) at the hotel at the time. The bar staff were very friendly and good at what they did mixing and serving some very nice cocktails contaning generous amounts of alcohol overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel it offered us a good standard of accomodation a relaxed atmosphere and we feel excellent value for money. we will visit here again when we return to fuerteventura. I booked this trip independently and got an excellent deal through Alpharooms I quoted AR661 and got a discount on an already cheap price"

"Hi,everyone who just wonder whether to go in this hotel or not.I will definetly recommend it to my friends. It a nice 4 stars hotel, very very clean and bright. With friendly staff. The rooms are spacious with balcany. The swimming pool is good to relax under th sun and is just 1m.deep,which makes it safety for these who cant swim.:)The food was nice.We been there for 1 week on sept and the weather was hot around 30-33C and very windy, which make you feel cool and unsweat. The resot is small but nice and quiet. The hotel provided free tickets to the beach. If you like quiet and clean place this hotel is perfect .We have arrived very late but they keep us cold dinner and if you have to leave on your way back very early they give you breakfast too. There are plenty of food and local drings on AI board. It's your choice but we definately like our holiday there."

Nothing to do in the evening
"We booked this hotel on teletext website for a cheap deal as we were saving up to go to Florida the following year. We arrived at the hotel and were a little disappointed with the surrounding area as there was not a lot close by (we later found that a better resort for shops and beaches is Jandia). We went to reception and had to wait for ages until they found our room (I was a little apprehensive that they would say we weren't staying there) but luckily they found our name. It then took us ages to find our room but when we eventually found it we saw a simple but satisfactory room. The hotel catered mainly for French and Germans, we were the only English family at the hotel apart from an elderly couple we didn't meet until our last night. For breakfast you could expect a selection of mixed veg, chips, cakes, fruit and eggs, some of this is not what you expect. The fod was always the same really but substantial. The pools were good and the daytimes were enjoyable enough, though in the evening there was no entertainment at all and there was nowhere close by to go either. If you chose this hotel you would have a pleasant time but not really for you if you like entertainment."

Entertainment non existent
"stayed at the hotel Drago Park in July 2007, the food generally was okay if you like carrots and butterbeans and chips for breakfast!!!! the pool and rooms were loveley. We had two teenage boys with us and unfortunately there was absolutely no entertainment for them, or for us, there is a kiddies disco for about 1 hour in the evening and a game of bingo, no activities on at all during the day, and the only music you can hear is on the room radio system, there is a terrace bar which seems to be where all the social gathering goes on, we were 4 of about 20 Brits staying at the hotel, this is a mainly German resort, and the Brits sat on the terrace until the lights went out, which we discovered was as soon as the last of the Germans left the terrace, there is one bar in the area but never open.there is a market which only sold 4 items, sunglasses, bags, belts and watches. We had to hire a car and travel 100km so the boys could go to the water park and have a bit of fun. if you are staying here take plenty of board games with you!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"My wife managed to book a late deal holiday at this hotel for our family which includes two boys under six. We had a short period of time to secure the booking and after looking at the comments on this site nearly turned it down. I would like to say that we were very pleased we decided to book the holiday. There is an old saying you get what you pay for and I didnt expect to be staying at the ritz for £870.00, but what I did expect is a comfortable clean hotel with edible food and we were not dissapointed We arrived at the Hotel at midnight and the staff were extremely helpful and courteous they had even saved us a meal, we were too tired to eat and had drinks instead. All the rooms at the hotel overlook the pool and are spacious but more importantly very clean, in fact during our stay the rooms were cleaned to a high standard every day. The food was fine and there was always something on the menu which we enjoyed, people have posted that there was nothing for the children to eat, if your children eat chicken nuggets , fish fingers and pizzas then yes they will be dissapointed. There was beer, wine , soft drinks and locally produced spirits available all day free to A inc , you could also purchase branded spirits if you wished , for approx 2 euros you could buy a huge shot of single malt ! The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the beach,if you prefer not to walk ,you can obtain free bus passes from reception to the beach. The bus runs every hour we used it several times . The hotel has an entertainer ( animator ) who organises water polo and volleyball and also the childrens and adult entertainment, he was a great guy. The hotel is about a 50 min drive from the airport and you may as well hire a car, as we did , for the transfer fees are about the same price . As you leave the airport follow the signs for Morro Jable as Costa Calma isnt signposted until you are virtually there. If you have children pay a visit to the oasis park zoo approx 7km away from the hotel( back on the airport road) they will love it! And enjoy your holiday!!"

"after reading other review we were a little worried about are stay here, but on arrival with were given a room down by the pool which was nice but not what i need as it everyone staying one room( 2 adults 2 kids) the hotel itself is set up away from costa calma and if we hadnt hadnt hired a car for a week it would of been not a great postion as the beach is about 25 mins walk, appently there was a beach bus but i never saw it, the food was ok i allways found something to eat, but the kids struggled because there is nothing for them, the drinks were good as there were self service for beer and soft drinks which takes out most of the queing, but should u want sprits there was a que, there is a kkids club which seemed to be good and a kids disco every night, in the day not alot goes on in the hotel but i played water polo and there was football aswell, the hotel is not very well designed for instants they have tiles all round which get boiling hot and the kids cant walk on them, theres no pool bas as such the only beach is in the lunch room( not far form the pool) overall i would say we got vaule for money but wouldnt stay there again."

Value for money!
"We stayed at the hotel in January 2007. I would say that the hotel was a typical Canary Islands hotel! It was quite as we expected. The room was very nice. We had a balcony and a lovely view over the pool-area. The staff was friendly and helpfull. We ordered a all-inclusive which was okey compared to the money we payed for the stay, but the food was quite boring after eating the same food for four days."

Very disappointed with this hotel
"In our view, this hotel is not a 4*, more like a 2-3* maximum. It's sad because the hotel has so much potential but it's looking tired and in desperate need of refurbishment. The pool is a nice size but is not heated as advertised - the water was freezing, but as always there were some children braving the water! Also, we only saw the pool being cleaned once during our two week stay. The food was the worst I've experienced in any country on any holiday. It was poorly presented slop and had it not been for the little signs, you would not know what it was. Food seemed to be recycled from breakfast to lunch and from lunch to evening dinner. The ambience was like a school canteen rather than a relaxing meal - very uncivilised waiting in a long line for lukewarm food then walking around trying to find drinks or cutlery etc. I would expect this in a 2* hotel, not a supposed 4* Medhotel. My husband and I were all-inclusive (big mistake) and after losing weight after the first week, decided we would find alternative eating arrangements. We spoke to the duty manager on reception about how dreadful the food in the restaurants was and he agreed and said he doesn't eat it (!). The staff need customer service training as they were unhelpful and unfriendly unless you are German (sorry, but that's how it appears). The exception were the Animation Team, who tried hard to motivate the guests and children and always had a smile. There was a free bus to the beach and back each day, but hang onto your hat as he's a GP racer in disguise. He took our breath away a couple of times with the speed he took the corners... We hired a car for our last four days and enjoyed exploring surrounding towns, beaches and restaurants nestled in the mountains. Before we booked this hotel, we saw other Costa Calma hotels on the seafront which we decided against as they didn't look like they had as many facilities and of course the Drago Park was listed as 4* so we went for that 'extra star' service (what a joke). We had a walk along the seafront and had a look at those hotels during our stay and they were much nicer even though officially rated lower, and would advise holidaymakers to book those instead of the Drago Park. There was a lovely firework display on New Years Eve, and I would say that was the best thing about our stay at the hotel. Fuerteventura as whole is relaxing and worth a visit (especially if you're into kite surfing) but it's worth finding out more about your hotel or you might end up with a Drago Park nightmare."

Nice Hotel - shame about the food !!
"As 'seasoned' travellers we've been to a lot of 4* Canary hotels over the years, and have just had a week (23-30/12/06) with five friends at this hotel (2 x couples plus 1 x single, all 50+). We knew what to expect, and were not disappointed with the accommodation, and previous comments about the hotel being a 'bit tatty' are correct but in keeping with the majority we've been to. Location we knew was 1500 metres from the beach but it's only a 10 minute walk, and although there's no promenade the daily 1 hour walk along the beach was very nice in the sun. The greatest disappointment was the food. As the hotel caters mainly for Germans, there was only fried eggs or pancakes for 'us Brits' at breakfast and if the urn had water in at all (for making tea), it was only luke-warm. Lunch and dinner starters / salads were OK even though there was little or no choice of cold meats, but a limited choice of main course with very few vegetables was a poor offering, and unless you had the food directly from the grill it was cold or luke-warm. There appeared to be the standard facilities to keep food warm (steel trays over a bath of hot water, but there was never any hot water in it !!) Puddings were identical each day - jelly, creme caramel and ice-cream. We had a 'Gala Dinner' on Christmas day, but reconstituted turkey impregnated with dates and raisins was not our cup of tea. Would I go back ?? - possibly, if the restaurant bucked its ideas up, but there's too many other hotels / resorts to see."
