Great place to stay
"My sister, bother in-law,brother and myself are just back from a weeks holiday staying in las marismas. We had a fabulous stay there. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant and pool bar was great. There was a great selection to chose from. The place was really clean, definitely away better than some hotels ive stayed in back home in ireland.I would really recommend las marismas to people. We are already planning on going back again next year around the same time in september as the weather was fantastic. And trying to check out for april aswell."

"we stayed here for 2weeks i was a bit nervous going after reading about robberies from the previous comments but we rented a safe which was very big and had no problems at all.. apartments were spacious and cleaned regularly didnt see any cockroaches in or around the apartment complex the whole 2weeks. supermarket, tennis, basketball and mini golf all on site. 3 pools that were very clean. its located about 10min walk from the town which was a bit of a walk everyday but still had a great holiday only problem was you have to get up at 7 in the morning to get a sunbed otherwise you would have none. and also some staff at reception are not very helpful. somewhere nice to eat is a place called penny lane lovely food and friendly staff.."

90% chance you will be robbed
"Do not go to bed at night without locking your doors. We are still here on night 9 of 14 nights. We were robbed on the first night. they took about a grand in cash (two families) 2 cameras, one camcorder and an iphone. It was 100% an inside job. Staff did not want to know. I won´t mention our useless holidayt rep who took 4 days to take us to make a statment.
Seems "someone" (cleaners) leave the doors open after cleaning and hope you don´t check the doors again that evening. They open on both sides and sometimes the locks don´t work at all. The chain does not deter them. TRUST me. I wasn´t drinking the night we got broken into and I had checked everything before bed but sure as can be the doors were open in the morning. I have 5 other stories since this happened!!! Its NOT the hotels fault.
Rude staff. Bad food. Bad entertainment. NEVER AGAIN
Tip this is a great hotel if you are German. It does not welcome the English or Irish guest at all."

Not a good place to go with familys!
"When we booked was told kids clubs and mini disco...... they were catered for the spanish no one spoke much english, took my little boy there age 2 and he didnt like it, they did not make u feel welcome at all, mini disco was all spanish music and only lasted 30mins so there was not much for kids to do in evening so we went out every evening for dinner too because the food was very poor and made us unwell??
Recepion in evening not helpfull at all, would tell u to come back in the morning, didnt speak english, god forbid i wasnt in trouble?
2 FRIENDS of ours got burgled and neither the rep or reception could help?"

"This hotel proves 'never judge a book by it's cover'. You can't fault the how clean the hotel and the rooms are but their are a number of faults.First of all, the first night we were there, we got robbed because just before you move in the cleaners leave the glass open but they lock the mosquito net.But the problem was that our mosquito net didn't have a lock.So the cleaners obviously know that the doors faulty.
A couple of days later we moved apartment and on the same day our friends got robbed. But the thieves gave the whole game away because all doors were locked when they went out and all doors were locked when they got back in. But everything out the bedroom was gone for example camera,Nintendo DS's,iPods and driving licence"

"Just got back from staying at the Las Marismas hotel and had quite a good time, although I do feel the hotel is very average of a 3star hotel. First of all the apartments are great as they are very spacious and are always kept clean by the maids, however towels are only changed twice a week. Towels can be hired from reception though during your stay at a reasonable cost. The restaurant food I feel is very standard. At breakfast time there is quite a wide range of choices, however I was very suprised to learn that they only cook sausages once a week. At lunchtime and in the evenings the food can be quite edible and there is always a wide range of salads available, however on other days food is not as nice. Also food is sometimes not even labelled resulting in a lot of waste if people do not know what they are eating. We went all inclusive and feel we got a good value for our money. Drinks are on tap in the pool bar throughout the day until the main bar opens at 6, however sometimes they can be a little warm and the sangria has been known to splash out at people. At the main bar the night staff serve rather good measures of alcohol and soft drinks are much colder on tap. The main two night staff are Raul and Daniele who are always very friendly. It was such a pleasure to meet them particulary Raul as he always had a smile on his face. My only complaint is that they are very short staffed at the bar and sometimes there was noone even there to serve people. Entertainment if I am honest is absolutely rubbish so I would advise you to go somewhere else of a night. First of all there is only a one week programme of shows and they are all situated in a dark and echoey room at the bottom of the bar( not a good atmosphere even if the shows were good). Overall there are three swimming pools. The two main ones are overlooked by the pool bar and are fairly big and also there is a small pool for the children. I advise anyone to get up pretty early to get themselves a sun lounger though as they are very hard to find. The nearest shops are about a 10 minute walk down the road as well as the beach so not too bad. The hotel is just opposite the water park which is handy if you have children. Also If you go all inclusive there is a free shuttle bus to the sand dunes everyday ( an enjoyable day out). The hotel also offers many facilities. There is a miniture golf course which is free for all inclusive guests, also tennis rackets can be used in the court around the back of the hotel. There is a gym, internet access( 1 euro for 10minutes) and there is also a reasonably cheap mini-market within the hotel grounds. Despite some downpoints I would recommend you to come to this hotel for a cheap week away. Overall the hotel is very clean and I know the staff work as hard as possible to make everyones holiday enjoyable.

"Just got back from 2 weeks all inclusive, room on arrival looked lovely apart from no air con, (or hairdryer) just a ceiling fan in the bed room. Maid only changed bed linen once throughout our stay (so I had to do it 3 times after requesting sheets). My son cut open his toe in the baby pool which I reported to reception as tiles missing on the bottom of the pool but nothing was done about it. You are handed an entertainment programme when you check in (only saw aqua arobics once on last day, Nothing at all for kids to do, my 4 year old went to kids club didn't have to sign in or out and he had found his way back to us, no-one seemed to care. Entertainment was very poor. kids tried to play football near the bar area so that parents could keep an eye on them, the hotel hired a sercurity guard to stop them. Food ok but no ice creams for the kids and snack time between 3-4 only. onto the waterpark which was included the main wave pool was only on for 10mins a day a 3 o'clock and you have to pay for sunbeds at 3euros a day. All in all a pretty poor experience. You Live and Learn."

a tad disappointing
"have just returned, after a 2 week hol with two kids, absolutely nothing to do for children at this time of year, and this isn't that early,,,, a childrens club for 2/3 year max, which was for a half an hour. no entertainment with the exception of two nights and this was absolutely pathetic. a magician, which did nothing magic, and a flamenco night with what looked like mother and son. and again was embarassing and with both nights the room cleared before they had finished. housekeeping was missed on five days. there was a keep fit schedule handed to everyone on checkin, water aerobics etc and none of these took place at all???? food was generally cold and with very little choice, no real meat dishes at all. where lunch was served during the day (outside) came alive with cockroaches at nightime. hotel was a good 20 minute walk to the beach and taxi's ranged from â¬2.50 to â¬5 depending on what time you got one at to get to the beach. all inclusive had signs everywhere excluding certain items??? i.e. if you wanted a burger at lunchtime you had to have it before 1 or after 3pm or else you pay for it???? weather was gorgeous, so we had a great holiday, as the hotel was most disappointing. but we met some great people and had a great time in any case nothing got to do with the hotel.... would not reccommend it and would not return, have been in this town and stayed in other hotels most occassions, this is very overrated/ we got a cheap deal so were able to console ourselves. if you do consider this hotel please do not go all in. got a beautiful room and they all seem, very spacious. you pay a deposit for your towels normal enough, and then when you change them you pay an extra â¬1.50?? the hairdryer the same, you pay deposit and then and extra â¬1.5 for each day you use it...."

Good quality accomodation
"Las Marismas booked following research of reviews
Expectations fulfilled, accomodation was great and apartment incredibly spacious and comfortable
Large complex but never felt crowded or cramped
Plenty of space around the pools
Coffee machine provided;kettles, toasters and microwaves available to hire
Only a few British guests majority seemed to be German and Scandinavian
Taxis very reasonable and cost to old town/harbour around 3 Euros
Large selection of restaurants and bars but weak £ has meant that meals and drinks are quite pricey although general quality is good
For best value would recommend Lemon Tree (same street as Gibsons) run by British couple
cheapest breakfast we could find at 2.95 Euros
Menu quite limited but quality of food excellent and surroundings very clean and pleasant

Super winter holiday
"Booked after reading scores of reviews stayed from 7th Jan 2009 for 35 nights, this aparthotel must have the largest one bedroom apartments on the whole island, the quality of the appartments are first class and have enough utentials and equipment if you wish to stay self catering/ we opted for half board and I must admit that out of the whole stay we were only disapointed with the evening meal on about 3 occasions, most nights the choice of meats were from pork/chicken/beef/burgers, and even rump steak on a bi weekly day, the breakfasts were very good with plenty of choice of hot or cold choices, every sunday its a smoked salmon and champange start at breakfast, the waiters/waitresses are very polite and helpful and always ready with a smile the grounds of the hotel are well kept and very clean, the heated pool was well used and the temp of the water was warm enough even for the youngest of guests, hotel reception staff are multi lingual and could deal with any problems and requests,we had a car for the whole holiday and could leave it in the secure locked car park free of charge, for those who need them there is a well stocked minimart, aself service laundry,a gym to keep you trim and hire bikes if you need them, all in all a first class aparthotel well worth three stars, and we will certinly be back."

We stayed as a family in April 2008. Ho...
"We stayed as a family in April 2008.
Hotel is excellent has great facilities and is very large, pools are a bit cold this time of year but when the sun shines it's great.
Had a two bedroom apartment, which turned out to be two apartments with adjoining door, lots of space and two of everything.
Easy access to all restuarants and attractions by foot or Taxi's are soooo cheap that we taxi'd everywhere.
Highly recomend this resort and would definitely return.
Best Restuarant - had to be the Slow boat III in the old town, you have to pass the other 4 Slow boat restaurants to get to it, but well worth the visit..
Food is plentiful and cheap in general, but go to the better restaurants if you want good quality...
Didn't try the buffet in the hotel as did not want to pay â¬22 Euros for the two kids to eat nothing....however found out on the last day that kids under 5 eat free and under 12 or something eat for half price, so would have tried it other than that.
Bought in the shop and had breakfast in the room every morning, 7.50 a head in the restaurant, you can eat very well for everyone on 10 Euros...
Shop in the resort is actually OK and has quite a lot of stuff in it, and actually found that the bigger supermarket around the corner was dearer for a lot of stuff such as bread, water etc..
Found a doughnut/cake shop just before leaving the main strip and entering the old town on the right beside the last taxi rank....doughnuts to die for and only a Euro each and as big as a mans open hand...:-)
Water park is OK for the money (80 Euros for Family of 4) and dunes trip is worth it, if the wind isn't so blowy..sunbeds are 3 Euros each on the beach and the parasol is an extra 3 Euros.
One tip for after meals...main courses are very reasonable but add in deserts and they are pricy enough...everywhere sells ice cream, so save 20 Euros (for 4 people)on having deserts with dinner and have your choice of ice creams for 5 Euros....well worth it, oh and throw in some doughnuts..:-)

Just returned on 2nd Jan after spending...
"Just returned on 2nd Jan after spending a week at Marismas on A/I.
The hotel buildings and grounds are well maintained, spotlessly clean and was a pleasure to stay at. All the staff were exceptionally well mannered and courteous and friendly. We stayed A/I and found the food good value with breakfast a good buffet selection of meats, cheeses, salads, fruit, bread, butter (if you can find it hidden amongst the marg!), choc spread, jams, melon etc tea and coffee (could have been hotter!), and lastly hot stuff - bacon, sausages (not English), eggs (done to how you like them - egg lady does lovely cheese and ham omelettes, but took a while to get used to doing hard fried eggs lol! the hot food was plentiful but a tad on the cool side (could have been hotter). The waiters in the restaurant were excellent, clearing away used plates almost as soon as you had used them. Overall very good selection.
Evening meal there was selection of salads, fruit etc for starters and hot food e.g., always 1 or 2 carved meats (pork, beef, lamb) or choice of 5 or 6 meals that didnât vary very much from day to day but was very nice, with selection of veg and usually chips, once or twice we had new potatoes in meat stew, again very nice but could have been hotter. Puddings were mainly mouse or cake/fruit and ice cream. The dinner time lunch was served in the pool bar and again a smaller choice of salads, warm meat and cake or ice cream. Overall I thought very good value for money for A/I.
The evening entertainment could have been better. We had a Cuban band (very good) but only on for an hour or so, a flamenco couple, and a magician (very funny), but if you on A/I not much else after then if you wanted to make the most of the A/I drink. A/I drinks were all local beer, spirits and wines, white wine was very nice, but if you don't like Aguila beer (lager) you're goosed as that is all that is available on A/I, mostly everything else you can get though if you wanted anything not on bar list you can get half price.
The hotel was a bit out of the way, but that is what we wanted, but was probably about a half an hour stroll to the main street with all the bars and shops etc. (5 Euro in taxi). The harbour area is lovely and there are many fish restaurants lined along it.
The hotel is just next to the water park but we didn't use it so can't comment on it. The pools were lovely and not too cold either. Plenty of sunbeds (with lovely comfy cushions), although most had been reserved with towels (as usual!) before 8 am so be quick if you want a sunbed! The hotel provides a free bus to the sand dunes at 11 am returning at 3.30 which is brilliant, the nudist beach further up the sand dunes is a must if you want an all over tan. We took drinks and sandwiches with us but the beach bars are not too over priced at all.
Overall the hotel and its facilities were excellent with a small supermarket on site, a minigolf, gym, kids club, kids play area, internet cafe. The apartments are well maintained, clean and spacious (although double beds are actually 2 single pushed together!), microwave, fridge and all utensils even though we stayed A/I it was nice to be able to have a cuppa first thing and last thing at night.
We would definitely stay there again, but maybe would try half board or even self-catering as would have like to gone out of the complex more. Just also to say that the hotel excelled itself with the fantastic buffet they put on new year's eve, with champagne and the works - brilliant night (oh and they gave us all a goodie bag with funny hat, party poppers and streamers etc), and the Cuban group was on again! - but who cared after 4 bottles of wine he he!
I would highly recommend the hotel, the grounds, and staff and everything was brilliant, just the entertainment and cool food could have been better. We arranged our transport from the Airport with Holiday-Taxis (on line) but wouldn't recommend them - took us 3 hrs to get from Airport to hotel (should have been 40 mins!) Happy holidays!"
