What a Let Down
"After reading the few available reviews we had great expections of this newly refurbished property for a Xmas A I break. Sadly we were deeply disappointed, mainly by the very poor quality, quantity and choice of food on offer. It was far below 3* standard. We are not fussy eaters but I cannot eat cheese . As none of the food was labelled and not always obvious what it was that was a problem for me and many others who were equally unimpressed. We witnessed people leaving the restaurant without eating and paying to eat elsewhere. The Xmas dinner was better but only of the standard we should have expected at every meal. The promised Al La Carte restaurant didn't exist, nor did the supermarket and we couldn't find a way in to the Mini Golf which didn't appear to be open.. There was no lounge or comfortable area to sit, only a pool bar with plastic chairs and no entertainment except one parrot show, two kids concerts, the nightly (9pm) kids disco and the same three guests singing the same three karaoke songs every evening. However the animation team worked very hard and were very good with the kids. The waiting staff didn't change at all week and served breakfast, lunch, dinner and worked in the pool bar. They worked very hard and were friendly and helpful as were the receptionists. The chef was a bit grumpy but was probably fed up with all the complaints about the food or lack of it. . On a brighter note our bungalow was very nice though the majority of the patio areas including ours had no privacy. The complex was nowhere near full and not all the bungalows finished. Our impression was everything was being done on a shoestring and there was not enough left for decent food and entertainment. The location was very good a few minutes walk from the two beaches and the centre of Calle De Fuste. The harbour was a little further but in reasonable walking distance. I had a great experience swimming with sealions and we went on a brilliant trike tour with Cool Runnings which made up for our disappointment with the Cay Beach Villas."

good potential - worth a visit
"We stayed at this accommodation in Dec 09, leaving for home just before christmas. Unfortunately when we arrived all the facilities were not really available so this was a bit of a disappointment. There were very few people staying there and I suppose because of this there was never very much choice of food (although what was available was good). There was certainly no ice cream, which was a must with young children, and we struggled sometimes to find food that was child friendly. Furthermore there was very little in the way of entertainment and even less bar staff, most of the time you had to get your own drinks, and if you stood for too long behind the bar you ended up serving everyone else as well. The main point of contention was that our brouchure said that there was a kids club. Apart from an animation 'team' that consisted one member of staff who tried to do everything for absolutely every age group, this facitlity was none existant. I did complain to the manager about the lack of facilities, and I was very disappointed by his reaction, he more or less implied that things were starting to improve and therefore I had no right to complain. In reference to the kids club actually turned round to me and said 'what do you expect, somewhere where your children can sleep...' I was so upset by his comments that I had to walk away before I started to cry, something which I felt totally embarassed about and did not expect to happen on my holidays. Having talked about the negatives it would be unfair not to mention the many positives. The bungalows were really well furnished and kept very very clean. The staff who were available had got multi tasking down to a fine art, and although they worked very hard they were always pleasant. This hotel really does have the potential to be very good once it is really up and running, however I do think that it is important that the management listens to their customers complaints, even if they dont agree with them. We are at the end of the day paying customers and not recalcitrant children..."

Good hotel - shame about the food!
"I was also a bit wary of this hotel due to the lack of reviews. And to be honest I needn't have been. We went all inclusive with my 17 yr old son. The hotel is immaculate and the rooms top notch. It has had a total refurb so everything is new and modern. The apartments are equipped with everything you might need. They are spacious enough and were suitable for us. The staff are helpful, friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. There are only 2 things that let it down. The food was a bit hit and miss. But you could get by as long as you're not a fussy eater - having said that we were there for New Years eve and the food was absolutely superb, if it was more like that daily I would have had no complaints whatsoever!! The only other problem was the entertainment - it was poorly organised and a bit repetative, but there were only 2 people on the animation team so its understandable. Anyone with small chldren who are fussy eaters may struggle as the only alternative to the restaurant food was burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs etc when the restaurant wasn't open. However we throroughly enjoyed it and would definitely go back."

Food could be better but the rest.......Fantastic
"Spent Christmas at this complex and it has only just opened up fully so we expected a few hiccups but the complex is great, only fault was the food, you wont starve but the standards and choice are pretty low BUT we got away from the snow so overall no complaints"

"we found the bungalows very will equipped, towels changed 3 times a week, sheets once a week.lovely clean walk in shower with great hot water, staff and lifeguard friendly and helpful.air con is 3 euros a day, there is a laundry room with washing machine and a dryer downstairs near the pool. 3 mins walk to the shops and resturants with some doing 8 euros for a 2 course set meal. The pool is kept very clean and maintenance staff sweep and wash it in the morning it also has 2 bubble beds at the shallow end.The Atlantico shopping centre( passed the sheraton hotel ) has a McDonalds out at the front entrance, bowling, chinese( set meal for 8 euros), There is also a Spar supermarkert with a fresh bakery. There was a problem with the sunbeds with people reserving them with towels, as I observed people being at the shops, then using there sunbeds later on the day. because there is not enough beds for everyone so we had to go the beach .The promenade is very flat like a horse shoe shape, there is also a mobility scooter/bike hire. On a Saturday the local markert is quite steep to walk up to but there is a mini road train which will take you up.The Thallasso spa ( is open to non members) has various spa and massage treatments/turkish baths and saunas .We also went on a grand tour of Fuerteventura which we enjoyed and we booked at the excursion shop which was next to the herzt car hire, as we found this to be cheaper than the reps deals."

Just what we wanted
"We stayed here in November, would I go again - most definately YES but not in peak season as I think they may struggle if full to capacity. During our stay there were so few guests (max 25-30) and just a skeleton staff made it just perfect for us, it was quiet around pool so no problems with sunbeds, we all found it quite amusing to actually walk around the bar to serve ourselves as Tofy (bar manager) bless him also waited on in restaurant and did all the washing up, he did this 12 hours a day 7 days a week but always had a smile on his face and couldn't do enough to help, in fact all the staff were cheerful and helpful. The hotel itself is in a great location just a few minutes walk from the square with all the bars and restaurants and approx. 5 mins from beach. All rooms are bungalows with living area/kitchen which included 2 ring hob, fridge, kettle, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and tv. Bedrooms are an adequate size with plenty of wardrobe space. Bathrooms have walk-in shower and hairdryer. Best shower we have ever had lashings of hot water as each bungalow has its own solar panel on roof. Safe in wardrobe at extra charge, air-con extra charge (we didn't need it), tv just got CNBC in english unless you paid for satellite - this only got eurosport, BBC world news and 2 movies4men channels showing really old films - westerns etc. Food in restaurant was fine but with so few guests obviously not too many choices, although always a fish dish, some sort of meat, pasta (bit bland) chips, chips and more chips. also salad was always nice and fresh. There doesn't seem to be a lot for the sightseeing tourists, but if like us and you just want to stroll along prom. then its perfect also flat so no hills. Because of the limited no. of guests everyone spoke to one another, we met some lovely people and laughed continuously, thanks guys (2 in particular) they'll know who I mean. We intend to book again next year for the same time, hopefully it will be exactly the same."

cay beach - best in caleta
"great apartments, very new & modern, comfy beds, walk in shower with plenty of hot water available, all the staff are very friendly & helpful, ( especially barbara on reception ), fantastic spa / swimming pool, 5 mins from the bars & shops, 5 mins from the wide beach, which is ok for a dip and has lots of fish that like feeding close to the shoreline, not that much late night nite life, but a few bars with acts on, which were of a decent standard, and karaoke too if you really want it !! you can party till 3am if thats your thing? a good selection of restaurants, chinese, indian and spanish grill type places that were all very good, average cost of a quality meal for 2 with drinks was under £40, several english owned bars doing excellent breakfasts from under 3 euros which were really great value. the supermarkets are competitive too, overall we had a very relaxing time would definately visit again, the complex is on the newer side of caleta and only 12 euros in a taxi from the airport, perfect location for winter sun.... one last note... fags & booze are cheaper in the resort than at the airport duty free so buy there before you return home."

Has potential to be brilliant
"I stayed here recently for a week with my sister. The complex was very quiet and not quite up and running yet but we had a brilliant time. The apartment/bungalows were great - all shiny and new and spotless! Staff (not many of them at the moment) were absolutely brilliant! We opted for AI which was good value for money, although the food choices were a bit limited we always found something we enjoyed from the buffett. There was no entertainment in the evenings, but we understood that this will shortly be in place. No shortage of sun beds as only about 34 guests when we stayed! Location is excellent, accomodation spacious and clean and food of a good standard for an AI - would recommend (if the price is right) and would certainly re-visit."
