Not as expected
"Arrived on 28th june to find a very quiet complex with hardly anyone around. Bungalows are a bit small so a squeeze to fit our things in with two kids. They are cleaned every day but our sheets were only changed once in the two weeks we were there. As advertised in brochure there was a sauna yet this was used as a store room, not that we wanted to use one as weather was fantastic. Nothing really for children except a playground that has seen better days. There was a pool table yet the white ball was stuck inside and this was never removed while we stayed. The swimming pool was ok, not the cleanest we have seen and we never saw it acctually being cleaned. The sunbeds were old and uncomfortable with no sun shades. We had two sun loungers on our terrace which was nice so you could relax at your own bungalow. Pool bar called The Harp which was not to exiting but i think this had a lot to do with the lack of customers. We had read reviews and it sounded like a good old laugh in there but that is not what we found. The location was great, only 5 min walk to centre of town. Great place for Breakfast was The Goose and Firkin. Emma and Mel were great with the kids who are 6 and 2. Full breakfast only 3 euro's. Food in resort was pretty good and price not to bad but everything else is far to expensive. Local Netto supermarket big rip off and sweet shop....steer well clear. Small toy car with some sweets in 9 euro's. Its is a wee bit of a walk along beach to go to big supermarket in the shopping centre but worth it for better prices. To round up Bungalows are not great for families as there is not much for the kiddies but rooms are ok and clean. Take lots of money as you will need it. Also high factor sun lotion as wind very diceiving."

2nd time around
"After a sneaky week last May, My girlfriend and I have just returned from another great 2weeks in these basic but charming bungalows. This complex is ideally situated, only 10 mins by taxi from the airport, (apprx 10 euros), so no need to wait on coach transfers. On arrival we found the reception staff were very friendly and spoke very good English, nothing is a bother to them, i.e. organising car hire, booking taxis, excursions etc. even requesting a specific bungalow on arrival (no. 406) which we had last May was not a problem.
The bungalows are basic but comfartable and are kept very clean by the friendly cleaning staff. the beds are pretty hard, (but then who sleeps a lot on holiday).
The complex bar, " The Harp " is run by Sue,aided by Annemarie, Bob, and Wallie, who are all as mad as hatters. My special thanks to them all for making our holiday so memorable.
All in all, as a package holiday, you wont go far wrong with this resort and this complex . Everything you need is right on your doorstep, nice beaches, good walks, great restaurants, especially " Fado Rock " and also night life, if you want to find it, and all covered in a fantastic climate. What more could you ask for. See you in September."

Very Relaxing Holiday...
"Booked hotel with Alpharooms & flight with Thomson Fly.
Arrived on Friday 14th March, got a taxi straight away from Airport to apartments, only 10 Euros. Took 10mins to arrive, got checked in very quickly, reception staff spoke good English & very helpful. We hired a safe on the first day, it cost 10 Euros for the week + 3 Euros deposit, which you get back when you hand the key in.
Room (505) was very clean and quite spacious. Had a pay-TV, but only had 2 English channels (CNN & Sky News), it was 1 Euro for 60mins. Kitchenette had a toaster, microwave, kettle, 2 electric rings & fridge.
Bedroom had two twin beds (which we pushed together), a bedside table, a wardrobe and a dressing table with mirror and stool. Bed linen was changed once in the week.
Bath was a bit small, but it did have a shower. Bath towels were changed twice in the week.
Maid cleaned the apartment 4 times and they even washed up for us once. They spoke basic English and were very polite.
All apartments have a terrace and ours had 2 sun loungers and a table & 2 chairs. We had no sun on the terrace in the morning but in the afternoon we had the sun until it set. The apartments don't have air con. We didnât need it, as it was quite cool on a night, but i guess in the summer months it will be quite warm.
There was a Harp Bar (Irish Bar) on the complex, staff very friendly.
Weather was lovely, sunshine for the first 5 days, but last 2 were cloudy until late afternoon. The evening became quite cool esp. with the wind (it was quite windy while we were there), i would suggest taking a cardy or long sleeved shirt and trousers or long shorts in the winter months.
We went for a wonder about on Saturday morning and there was a market happening. It was ok as the stall holders didnât nag you.
We walked round to the harbour. Near the harbour, on the rocks which are further round, you can see some Chipmunks.
There is also a chance people to go Deep Sea Fishing (70 Euros) and Snorkeling.
There are plenty of places to eat on an evening, our favourite was a steakhouse called Fado Rock. We also went to Tony Roma's Rib Restaurant & Mexican Corner. There are a few Chinese & Indian Restaurants + others.
The nightlife wasnât great, no clubs, but there were a few bars & sports bars. Drinks were quite expensive, but i think that is because of the exchange rate at the moment.
Souvenir shops were plentiful and you can get some great deals on Cigs & Spirits. I found that Netto (the tourist supermarket) was the best for Spirits.
The apartments are only a short distance to shops, restaurants & beach. The Harbour is about a 10-15 minute walk away, so no need for any taxis.
Beach was clean and quite big, the sunloungers and parasols were charged.
The day before we left, we asked reception if we could stay in our room until 12 noon instead of 10am and they were happy with that.
We got a taxi to back to the Airport, the reception ordered us one on request, it arrived within a couple of minutes. It cost 10 Euros.
Ideal holiday for all ages. A really good place to relax in the sun. Would definitely recommend."

you get what you pay for
"This was a cheap holiday booked last minute. It would have been cheaper if we hadn't been charge excess £54 for excess luggage, only allowed 15 kg each now, and despite thinking I'd packed light, I hadn't. Everything went smoothly on the way there and we decided not to pay the travel operator for transfers and got a taxi to and from the airport which was much cheaper.
The bunglaows are a bit tatty but clean. They were cleaned every other day. The gardens around them could do with tidying up but they were tidy outside the ones on the front. The staff were good and the people in the poolside Harp bar were very nice. There is a pile of magazines and books you can dip into and swop for yours and I found this to be very useful. The pool is ok, but the sunbeds are those rock hard ones that you can't adjust and very uncomfortable.
The worst thing for me was the bed. The mattress rests on a bit of MDF and was so uncomfortable. I ended up taking the sofa mattress and putting it on top of the bed one for some respite.
The beach is very close and it's a short walk to the resport centre with a varied selection of bars and places to eat. As it's a man made resport there is no old town and nothing typically spanish but it's ok for a week. The nightlife was quiet and most things shut quite early. When we went it was mostly older people and couples with children, only a few young couples were there and they appeared to be very bored, it's not really a place for teenagers or people in their 20's. We found drinks to be expensive with a round for 2 costing around £8 sometimes! Eating out wasn't cheap either.
If you do stay there, when you get to the beach, look to your right and you'll see a very large terracotta building (the very swanky Sheraton Hotel) If you walk beyond this you'll come to a much nicer beach.
To conclude, these apartments are 2 star and they were quite cheap so I didn't expect anything better really. I'd go back to the resport, but next time I''d like to stay somewhere with a few more stars."

Great location & Good value if you're on a budget
"The location of these apartments are ideal, only 5 mins from the beach and restaurants, (no need to shell out for any taxis). They are clean but very basic and in need of updating. I agree that air con would be a nice touch as the room was extremely hot in the evening. The pool itself was ok but most of the sun beds are broken and you have to rent un umbrella which I have never experienced before.
I can't really complain regarding the air traffic noise as our brochure did warn of this and the planes only landed during the day. We also saw the transfer time of 10 mins as a nice touch!!!!!!
All in all my fiancee and I had a very good holiday as we were just looking for a cheap break in the sun, I may have been disappointed if I'd have paid more. The resort itself is a nice size and fairly quiet. It has a nice mix of bars and places to eat."

Earmuffs please and air conditioning a must!!
"Just got back from these bungalows and here are the plain facts you need to know. Firstly there is no air conditioning which is a shame because although there is a slight breeze on the island this does not compensate for the very warm rooms after returning back from a day out in the heat. Also difficult to sleep, had to leave windows open so bitten by flys. Beds were rock hard. Also, you are on the approach path to the airport and you can almost see the tread of the tyres let alone the extremely loud noise. You cant have a conversation until they have passed!
The pool is cold and the bar was dissapointing as it has a limited menu and dosnt open til 10.30am.!? Also note the rooms are not cleaned on Sundays and Wednesdays. Some plus points are the excellent position for shops, restaurants and beaches. Rooms very basic but clean with some appliances looking brand new. Staff are very friendly and make all families welcome. It is very child friendly. Baby cot very clean and in perfect condition. Generally OK but will not visit again. Thanks"

When going to Fuerteventura we were a bi...
"When going to Fuerteventura we were a bit worried as it is not a popular island like the rest of the Canaries.
Caleta de Fuste is a lovely resort, family orientated and quiet, but just what you need for a relaxing break.
The accommodation left a lot to be desired and was very disappointing. The Castillo Playa was very unloved and quite run down.
The apartments were under occupied and there was also a break in while we were there.
The area around the bungalows was dangerous with electric cables coming out the side of the wall. The childrenâs play area seemed dangerous.
The location was good and I would definitely recommend the Fardo rock restaurant. Excellent food!
The Castillo Playa may have been updated since we went there but please check with your travel agent before flying, as you may have a very nasty shock!"

castillo playa jan 07
"Just back from 1 week staying at the Castillo playa with my husband and 2 kids (4 and 1). Apartments were very clean, although basic but had all you needed, got cot on arrival, hired highchair for 12 euros for the week, staff were very friendly and helpful, the grounds were kept clean .One downside is that there is no aircon, so wouldnât recommend for summer months but perfect for a winter sun break. If going during winter months be prepared for a cold pool as it is not heated. The apartments are central to everything that you need, beach is only a 5 min walk away, as is the centre. You are based close to the airport,so a quick transfer. Planes can be heard and seen from 8 am till 10.30 pm, but they are not intrusive and kids enjoyed watching them.Just going to book again for next year same time."

"we have been to these apartments for the last 3 years we have always been very well looked after by the staff who are very helpful and speak good english.the only thing they need to improve is the pool which is very cold during the winter months perhaps heating it would be a good idea but otherwise we recommend anybody to go they are near everything that you need excellent"
