First visit to Fuerteventura
"Just returned from my first trip to Fuerteventura. We choose the Elba Carlota after reading some reviews and definitely it is worth it.
A very clean hotel, with awesome surroundings and a lovely staff aiming to help you in anything you need.
Will come back as soon as we can."

"Just arrived from a wonderful two weeks at this nice hotel. From reception staff to animation staff all of them are amazing, always willing to help you in anything you need.
Food is lovely, very tasty and a good range of variety to choose every day, not repetitive.
Rooms are large and they are kept very clean. Definitely we will come back next summer!"

Flies, flies and more flies. Beware The Kids Club Too
"There is a major problem at this hotel with flies. Actually the problem is more with the air conditioning than flies. The AC just doesn't work so they leave windows/doors open and there are no wall mounted fly killers etc. Their sister hotel Elba Sara just along the road, has no problems with flies - we went along there to check it out.
In the EC, flies all over the food, both hot and cold. It really is a disgusting sight.
The kids club is a big worry for us.
We have recently returned from two weeks at EC. Our daughter who is 13 attended the kids club. It's fair to say that the issue of Child Protection clearly isn't taken as seriously as in the UK.
- entertainers stripped to the waist playing games with the kids in the pool. One entertainer had 12 kids to look after and despite the fact that a lifeguard made the occasional visit, how on earth can 1 entertainer look after 12 children and ensure their safety, in that environment?
- there is no sign in/out procedure for the clubs. Our daughter was free to wander in and out of the club as she saw fit
- our daughters picture was taken on several occasions by a male entertainer, without our permission. Apparently these are needed for their weekly show
- these photos were taken by him and a colleague on his own personal phone
- the same entertainer then decided to tell our 13 YO that he found the picture very sexual
How do I know all of this? My daughter was understandably very upset and thankfully had the good sense to tell us. My husband spent a day with hotel management, police and tour company reps trying to get to the bottom of it all, and in the end all that happened was that the police made the entertainer delete all the photos and videos of my daughter. This is despite the fact that the hotel refused to call in the police when the issue was first raised with them and it took my husband speaking to our Travel Company to persuade them otherwise. We have no idea if he then was able to recover these items or indeed if he had backed everything up to PC.
The comments were chalked up as a language misunderstanding despite the fact that my daughters friend also heard them.

"We stayed here Feb 2015, lovely hotel clean rooms and nice pool (although we didn't go in much as it was a bit cold in Feb)
The food was very good most of the time with great variety, although it was let down sometimes by not being cooked properly. The worst of which was a hamburger which was still raw in the middle! But also potatoes were very undercooked and several other things but don't get me wrong the rest was excellent.
We were disappointed in the staff who generally appeared a bit abrupt with you, the bar staff being the worst. We know it wasn't just us as we chatted to others who thought the same.
Entertainment (once we found the information boards) was not great in fact we ended up going to the Sara Hotel up the road, run by the same company but much better shows and friendlier staff."

"Really don't understand the negative comments about this hotel, only time I had to trouble the staff was to ask for our key cards to be redone on our last day as we paid for a late checkout and the cards expired at midday, took minutes to do, I can only assume the negative comments are mainly from the old age who were unhappy at not being waited on hand and foot, we never saw a sprout at breakfast time, had a good variety of food with the only queues after a few bus loads of new arrivals, extra fresh towels were given when asked for, detailed info on buses to travel around the island and what shops were where, rough guide to prices and haggling etc, staff were superb, only thing I didn't like is the same in most places in Spain that smoking is allowed around the pool and the outside area when having breakfast etc, smokers are the most selfish ignorant people in the world, totally ignoring the toddlers around them and happily sharing their cancer causing fumes. Apart from those I'm going back next year but will eat in the restaurant to avoid the selfish ones."

"This was a nice hotel but wouldn't rate it as four star more a three. Hotel plus points - rooms were clean and towels changed regularly and could receive British TV channels, rooms nice and quiet at night.
Food was definitely not up to 4 star rating and VERY repetitive! Staff seemed to be miserable and didn't respond to requests very quickly. There were large queues for food when they did change the menu!! The kids lived on pasta and chips for the whole week and we sometimes went out to eat, felt there was no effort to cater for British tastes with brussel sprouts on offer at every breakfast.....whats that about!!. Lots of flies and small insects crawling on tables - yuk!!
Had to queue up every morning for a sun lounger and waited most days with the other guests for up to an hour before the maintenance man unlocked the sun loungers - never had this at any hotel in my whole 40 years as a traveller!!
I had stayed at the Barcelo Thalasso just down the road in March and this was a four star hotel but, by far, more superior than this place - therefore won't be returning to the Hotel Elba Carlota. :(

"This is fantastic, is close to the beach, next to a shopping center with cinema, restaurants, bars and shops, just 10 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes walking from the town of Caleta de Fuste, couldn't ask for anything else!! Pools are very good, people from the restaurant is helpful and they smile anytime, the food also is very good.

"couldnt ask for anything more. Yes the waiting staff may seem rude to some, but with the high amount of people going through give them a break they are rushed off their feet and the service is quick. i've been here twice and planning to return again and again! its great for couples and family and being so close to the beach and neighbouring shops its perfect for all. We have your money so just go
"just back from elba csrlota on saturday and i won't be rushing back- the hotel was nice and clean and the rooms a bit more spacious than others. i have never had a hot meal the whole 2 weeks and the choices were not that great.
if you are going i would make sure that you have early flights home . the hotel was over booked and we could'nt keep our room on. told to book a slot for courtesy room then i was told no courtesy room available. i asked how i was supposed to freshen up the receptionist shrugged her shoulders and said use the shower at pool bar then walked away. when i went into the toilets to get changed it was full of people trying to get washed and changed for travelling home. no consideration was given for disabled people or people with children. maybe the wrong time of year i went but i was not impresses."

Our first family holiday
"Myself, my partner and our 2year old daughter have just returned from a 2week stay at the Elba Carlota and all I can say is that we had a fantastic time - despite having a bag with our spending money in stolen off the airport transfer coach! The hotel staff were really helpful and friendly - especially to our daughter, she loved them. The hotel itself was spotless, our room was cleaned everyday & we were given fresh towels everyday. I found the food really good, with a big selection of meats, fish, salad, desserts. My boyfriend found the food a bit 'samey' but then he wouldn't try anything new so stuck to the same things! The pool was lovely, our daughter loved the kids pool and the jacuzzi. It was really nice to not have to get up at the crack of dawn to ensure we got a sunbed, we could just stroll out to the pool after breakfast and have our pick, as there were so many. There were lots of activites held in the main pool such as aqua zumba, water polo etc. The entertainment/animation team were fab, they were really nice and really good with the children in the kids disco. We saw some really good shows put on in the sinatra bar aswell, a favourite of ours was the comedy acrobats, as well as the dance shows put on by the animation team. I would definately reccommend this hotel to families or older couples, if your looking for a really lively hotel for a boys/girls holiday then this probably isn't for you, as most people leave the bar the second the all inclusive ends at 11pm, we were usually the last ones there at midnight. The town of Caleta De Fuste is quite lively and is apporximately a 15-20min walk from the hotel. We liked going to Pierros music cafe/The beer garden. Its located under the main shopping area so is in the shade and is cool enough to sit and enjoy a drink. We went here to watch various football matches and the staff were lovely and there was a great atmosphere. Our last but 1 night was my 25th birthday, so to celebrate we went to La Bodeguita resturant, you can't miss it, it has fairy lights floor to ceiling in every window. I would definately recommend going there, the food was fantastic and the staff were fab. Prices were slightly higher than some of the other resturants in town, but no more than you'd pay at home, we paid 65euros for a 3 course meal for 3 including drinks! "

Best Holiday Ever
"Came back yesterday from this hotel. It was amazing. I went for 4 days all inclusive to celebrate my 40th. Could not fault a thing. The hotel was lovely. The room was huge with a king size bed, it was cleaned every day. The food was brilliant with a huge choice of meat, fish, pasta, fast food ie burgers, chips and hotdogs if you like that sort of thing. If you like salad like I do then the choice was never ending. The meat was cooked fresh in front of you. The puddings were amazing, lots of cakes which were all homemade. There was plenty of drink with the all inclusive, the wine was surprisingly nice and the spanish cava was very good. The resort was lovely and 10 min walk to the main town which had lots of bars and restaurants. The swimming pools were huge and all very clean. Best hotel ever and am already looking at going back next February and taking the family. Amazing. "
