Little piece of Barcelona Heaven
"Could not recommend this Hotel highly enough, from the moment we arrived the hotel staff greeted myself and my partner with a smile and where very helpful and could not do enough for us.I completely fell in love with the hotel and it's idyllic location in the heart of Barcelona and Catalan square.Close too everything and really felt we lived the total Spanish culture experience thanks too the friendly staff and location of the hotel.Beautiful Spanish cuisine and laid back atmosphere in the restaurant and the swimming pool on the roof was just great especially at cocktails happy hour! Really from the cleaners who cleaned the room every day and left chocolates too every night right through too the waiters/waitress and hotel management all made our stay that much more enjoyable loved it and will definitely be back!!! New hotel - dynamite location.
"We found this hotel by accident. We had originally booked a room at the Catalonia Port Hotel, but on our arrival the staff said they had a problem with the heat in the available rooms and that we should not stay. They offered to transfer us to another hotel - namely the Catalonia Catedral - which I knew nothing about. We reluctantly agreed, and they arranged a cab to transfer us to the other hotel - they paid for the cab. The Catalonia Catedral is so new that the cab driver did not know of it. He had a lengthy discussion with the front desk before heading out to the hotel. Upon arrival, we noted the hotel is right in the heart of a pedestrian walkway, stuffed between two retail stores. It is hardly noticeable from the street, and one can easily walk right past it if not paying attention. All that being said, we were skeptical upon entering the front door. The floor was not clean, and the reception area very small. That is where my complaint ends. When we were taken to our room, I noticed all of the hardwood floors in the halls and stairs were modern and highly polished - spotless. The doors to each room are dark ebony wood with polished oversized room numbers in brushed aluminum - very contemporary. Entering the room you need to insert your room key into a slot on the wall to activate all of the lights in the unit. The rooms are minimalist in style - ultra modern and extremely clean. The bathroom was marble and travertine with the latest fixtures - again ultra modern and spotless. A flat screen tv sits on the wall opposite the bed, and there is a mini bar below. The elevators are mounted on the exterior of the building and are all glass, so you can enjoy the trip on the way up. There is a bar on the first floor which made the best Tanqueray and tonic I have ever had. It was served in a goblet, and was fantastic. Up on the roof there is a swimming pool and deck chairs. At the bar are two laptop computers for free use with the Hotel's wireless system. The Hotel has a restaurant which is French cuisine, we enjoyed a dinner of duck with a fantastic sauce. One thing that was a bit of an irritant was the breakfast. Although it was a nice breakfast buffet, it is not free nor cheap. We paid over $35 for breakfast. My advice is to eat a lot if you indulge. The location is just fantastic, you step out the door and you are one block from La Rambla, and there are countless shops and restaurants. At night it is wall to wall people, but the noise disappears once back inside the hotel. We highly enjoyed our stay here and would definately stay again."

"Hi We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. Location: The hotel's location is great, 5 minutes walk from Catalonia square and the Ramblas, yet quiet and safe to walk even when you come back in the middle of the night. Rooms: The rooms are new, inviting and have anything you might think of. The shower is big and there's nothing else you need at the end of a long walking day. Dining room: we had only breakfast but the food was very good, especially the hand made pastries. The service was efficient and fast and nothing was missing. Service: One on the best to our opinion. At the end of every day we came to the reception to get their help and tips for our next day's plans. The crew was informative and gave us all the information we needed, including prints of the train schedules to locations outside Barcelona. In addition, they were interested in our feedback on their tips, what else can you ask for? To conclude, the hotel was an excellent choice, we will check it out for sure on our next visit to Barcelona."

A real find in a fantastic location
"This newly opened hotel is a real discovery, in a great location just off the Cathedral Plaza in Barcelonaâs Gothic Quarter. Design features include glass elevators looking into the central courtyard of this tastefully renovated older building. Public areas in the hotel have occasional walls of exposed masonry from the original structure. This, along with contemporary artwork, makes for some pleasant and aesthetically exciting spaces. Guest rooms are bright and well laid out, with large bathrooms and plenty of storage, including closets large enough for getting suitcases out of the way during your stay. An added bonus is the breakfast buffet, served in a pleasant room overlooking the pedestrian area on which the hotel fronts. This same room doubles in the evening as the Hotelâs restaurant, one of many in the area, which has great cafes and shops just steps away from the front door. A courteous and friendly staff make this a great place to stay, the front desk staff is particularly helpful in terms of giving directions to sights in the City and its surroundings. Ask for one of the outside rooms facing the front of the building, all have small balconies overlooking the pedestrian area and are surprisingly quiet, considering that it is so close to the hub of activity in the old city. Rooms at the rear of the building have large windows facing a smaller tree-lined square. A roof deck with pool has great views over the city, especially at dusk. The Cathedral is a two minute walk, Las Ramblas is about five minutes away. We were there for six nights and look forward to staying there on our next trip to Barcelona."

ideally located for sightseeing, extremely comfortable, staff friendly and very helpful
"We stayed for 4 nights at the Catalonia Catedral The hotel located is excellent - perfect: 3 mins walk from Catalunia Square, 1/2 minute walk from the Barcelon Catedral, 3 mins walk from La Rambla.. The hotel is new and beautifully designed and maintained, sophisticated and elegant. The room was large, neat and comfortible. Everything was extremly clean. The staff are very helpful and forthcoming, and provide fast accurate service with a smile. The room is spotless clean, as well as the shower - both very spacious We would (and already have) recommend this hotel to friends and family coming over to Barcelona."

Excellent location, friendly staff, clean and contemporary hotel!
"The hotel was perfectly situated in the heart of the city, and literally a 2 minute walk to the Gothic Cathedral. The room was very modern and clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was fitted out beautifully in marble with a fantastic shower. The staff were friendly, helpful, and proud to be working in the newly refurbished hotel. Although the hotel had only been open month at the time of our stay, everything ran smoothly and we enjoyed the benefits of staying in such a sleek and 'new' environment. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was absolutely beautiful. My husband and I would definitely stay again and recommend this place to our friends and family."

Funky hotel in a great location
"We stayed for 3 nights at the Catalonia Catedral. We were welcomed very warmly at 2am when we arrived after a 4 hour flight delay. The hotel has only been open for 4 weeks and has been renovated to a very high standard with modern bedrooms with huge beds and a great shower! Our bedroom faced the courtyard which meant it was really quiet. Surprising considering it's right on a street full of shops, round the corner from the cathedral and only a couple of minutes walk from La Rambla and the Placa de Catalunya. The location is very convenient for the Airport bus, the Bus Turistic and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants all within walking distance. The bar was a good place to relax with a drink after a busy day sightseeing and the local red wine at 2.70 EUR for a large glass was reasonably priced. Great trip - apart from the weather, we would definitely go back when the sun is out!"

"This hotel has been just reopened after a major renovation. We couldn't find hardly anything online about it, but decided to take a flyer considering 99 Euros a night was a big bargain for this level hotel in this location during the season we were going. We were so glad we did! The hotel was so new that the cab driver didn't know it, but that also meant that everything was new and clean. Our room was quite large, with a very nice big bathroom. Hotel service was quite friendly, but the one downside of a new hotel is that they haven't quite worked out the kinks yet (no mini-bar price list, AC in original room didn't work, but quickly and courteously switched us). Great location!"

Excellent location, very good hotel
"Had a four night stay at the hotel. We were impressed by every aspect of the hotel: the staff, the room, the facilities and the location. Very close to the Aerobus stop ( two minutes walk), La Ramblas and Cathedral. A couple of minutes from the touristic bus stop and very close to good shops and restaurants. A pleasant walk to the the port and beach. The hotel fully met our requirements. Only had one meal at the hotel - it was good but a little expensive as is usually the case in this area. The location was surprisingly quiet at night considering its central location and felt very safe to walk around and we enjoyed the street entertainment, especially the people creating giant bubbles that were chased by a local dog."

Best Vacation Ever!!!
"Traveling for over 5 years straight, staying at many hotels and never leaving so sad! We were shifted to this hotel since the hotel we booked (Duques De Bergara) was over booked. Arriving at this hotel after the first night it opened it was a bit under construction. We were welcomed by a fine, English speaking and friendly staff (especially Patricia). We received a deluxe room (we got upgraded) with a balcony facing the Square). The room was large, neat and comfortible. Everything was extremly clean (shower, toilet, floor). The breakfast in the hotel is a little expensive (16 Euros) but we booked a B&B so it was worth it. very rich breakfast: omlettes, bacon, fresh squeezed juices, jams, and muslie. The location is perfect: 5 mins walk from Catalunia Square, 1/2 a minute walk from the Barcelon Catedral, 3 mins walk from La Rambla. The staff helped us with getting around with the many maps they keep around. I recommend this hotel!!!"

Stop looking at Catedral and start booking!!!
"We've just got back from a stay at the Catedral and we were blown away. We shortlisted a few hotels using tripadvisor, and thought about the Catedral, but were put off because we couldn't find any pictures of the bedrooms. Then we spotted on one website that it was being refurbished, so we took a gamble because of the location. What a winner !!! We were the first people to check in after the refurbishment (17th Sept. '09). There were workmen still putting finishing touches to the place, but the staff were so welcoming and proud of their "new Hotel" all our doubts dissappeared, especially when we saw the room. European city centre rooms are usually quite small, but this was great. It had a fantastic bathroom with "drench" shower and marble tiled floors/walls and a huge bed (actually, it was two, two metre wide beds side by side which gave an overall super kingsize double). The decor was really modern and funky, lots of black Ash and marble tiling. The location is the best, just 5mins walk from Catalunya square where the Aerobus drops you off, and just 2mins from La Ramblas, ( which is too busy to stay on ) and the streets around are pedestrianised. In other words we were thrilled with our hotel choice and would recommend it to everyone. This is the first time I have writen a review on tripadvisor, and just for record if you are looking for a great place to eat in Barcelona, try "The Attic" on 120 La Ramblas, fantastic food at great prices. Thanks Barcelona for a great break."
