Fantastic for young families!
"Just to echo other reviews which seem to be under the nearby town of Alaior instead of Son Bou. Excellent holiday for young families. Everything is catered for children and the staff are excellent with the children. The nearby beach is one of the best in I have ever visited. The hotel has a private tunnel to the beach complete with showers to wash off that sand. They have even build a wooden walkway over the sand dunes allowing prams to access the beach. The beach has white sand with no stones or rocks except at the far east cove. The water is crystal clear and very warm when we visited at the end of July. Life guards are on duty with a flag system. The pools are fantastic also, one large pool with ample sun loungers. No need to reserve loungers at 6am with towels. We got a sun lounger at any time of the day. The baby pool is fantastic for small children and my daughter of 5 and son of 1 and 1/2 loved it. It felt very safe but the tiles could get slippery so don't let your children run around the pool. The children clubs are great also. They are called Kikoland. The baby club is open from 10am to 5pm and is available for children 0-3 years old. My son loved it! Also they cater for older children between 10am and 12.30pm then 3pm to 5pm with lots of activities. My daughter loved the tee shirt painting, face painting and arts and crafts. We went half board and breakfast and dinner was great and they had good choices for different tastes. The children also have a buffet. We also made good use of the baby creche putting my son in while we were able to eat in peace with my daughter. Overall fantasic and somewhere we would return to again maybe as soon as next year!"

Fantastic Resort for Families
"We visited the Royal Son Bou with our four year old son and one year old daughter for two weeks and we loved every minute of our stay. The resort is fantastic for anyone staying with Children with two great pools (both heated) and direct access to the great Son Bou Beach with its shallow waters. We requested a sea view which was great although a pool view would be just as good. Apartments are spacious, very clean (maids were fantastic!) and have pretty much everything you need, although no microwave (but both restaurants have for heating baby food etc). Food was good quality although can get a bit samey by the end of two weeks, but selection for both children and adults were good with a choice of two restaurants so you can get a change of scenery. Entertainment every evening for both children and adults, and the staff were very attentive and helpful and always had a smile. There is also plenty of activities children/adults can do throughout the day and our 4 year old did pony trecking near the beach one morning, which he loved (and compleatly free!). There are quite a few steps around the resort although there are ramps, if you have a pushchair it is probably best to request a lower level apartment. The resort of Son Bou is small but with good bars, restaurants and supermarket. In fact probably the best supermarket is opposite the Royal Son Bou entrance. We will definately be visiting the Royal Son Bou again, as think it will be hard to find another family friendly resort as good as this again."

"Absolutely fabulous holiday! Spent one week at the Royal Son Bou with our four year old son. Apartments are clean and spacious with most having a view of pool or sea (ours had both!). The whole complex is well designed and picturesque. Food is excellent with plenty of choice. Even the special children's buffet is quality food rather than the usual chicken nuggets etc. Staff at hotel are really friendly and do their utmost to make the children feel welcome. Evenings were taken care of. Great entertainment for the children in a variety of languages followed by a show for the parents. Two pools. One for the very small children with a view of the sea and another large pool that also has a shallow end for young children. There is a scenic path that takes you directly from the Royal Son Bou to the beach. The beach is long, sandy and the water shallow enough for the young ones. Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants a minutes walk from the complex. If you have young children (3-6 years) then this is definately the hotel for you. We would not hesitate in recommending the Royal Son Bou."

fantastic, clean place to stay
"just come back from royal son bou family club, with my husband and 2 children (15 & 10). This complex is one of the best i have been in! . The location is fantastic, as the beach is 5 min walk through private underpass, directly to beach. the shops are on your door step.!! The beach is fantastic, however this year there seem to be loads of jelly fish so beware, never noticed then before , so must be a seasonal thing? . Every where in the complex is spotless, maids come every day to change your towels etc and you even have a welcome pack in your fridge water, fruit juice and fruit!. The rooms have usual appliances kettle , hob etc, however you dont have a toaster. They even give you a tea towel ( which is a first for us to have!) The childrens Pool fabulous away from main pool with sea views! the other pool spotless and never overcrowded, never had to worry about getting a sunbed, plenty available.! Food i found was very varied, my daughter and i found it quite easy to eat , was great to try new food, they have lots of fish , salad , fruit , hot food cold food , bread etc and you can have a fried breakfast every morn , if you want, however if you are a fussy eater (like my husband and my son) then you may find it more difficult. We went half board, which suited us fine, and worth doing! There are lots of germans and italians here , but this didn't bother us at all! The entertainment was ok , not brilliant , but the younger children liked it! The hotel has their own children club, which i thought was fab! , each child gets a backpack, and t-shirt and plenty activities are laid on. The only down side we had was the WEATHER! never been to menorca in MAY , it did rain , so wouldn't recommend going then! probably later on in the year! Over all i would def book to go here again, staff very friendly and welcoming and we were even upgrade to a 2 bedded room for free , which was well worth having!!!"

our best holiday yet
"we have just returned on the 6th of june after staying at this hotel for two weeks. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can not fault a thing. The apartments are light and airy and very spacious and the kitchenette is an added bonus when you have liitle ones as we did (9,6 and 8 months). We stayed half board and the food was lovely. Something for everyone and always warm. Chefs actually came out and checked temp of food regulary throughout dinner with thermometers. Something i havent seen before even in thomson platinum hotels and other 4 and 5 star accomodation. The kids club was fantastic with a large play area all contained and gated wiith rubber floor and well run check in and out, so perfectly safe. Kids entertainers were fantastic. Best weve ever seen and did a wonderful job of keeping children happy both in the day and of an evening at the nightly mini disco. Entertainment finished at ten which we found ideal with the little ones and was provided by different acts from outside ie chinese acrobats. Some of these were not always top quality but good enough to watch and enjoy. All staff were extremely pleasant which definately helped to make our holiday. Both the main pool area and the baby pool were spotless. There were also plenty of sun beds, more than enoughfor everyone and we had no problem getting four beds even at midday. Never had to put the towels out which is normally the norm. Son bou itself is a small resort but with enough to do to keep you entertained. The beach is lovely with gorgeous crystal blue sea which is like looking through glass and can be reached via a private pathway from the hotel. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone with young childdren and we will definately return."

Lovely and laid back environment
"Set just a short walk from the beach, shops and restaurants in a small resort. we travelled with our 5 year old, so the transfer from the airport was only 30 minutes. We stayed close to the end of the season so the town had some restaurants open, but very quiet. Fabulous beach safe for children and building sand castles! We saw some lovely sculptures. The hotel itself had two lovely restaurants for breakfast and dinner. Good food and good variety, friendly staff. The apartments were fairly good size, it was good to have a fridge, sink and cutlery etc. they were kept clean daily. There were two pools, my son mainly used the larger one, which varied from ankle depth to 1.6m. Lovely surroundings to sunbathe too. Kikoland was popular, you could leave your child if you wish at no extra cost, plenty to do in and outside. My son was overwhelmed by german kids so he didn't want to go that often. The occupancy of germans did out weigh the english a great deal, so evening entertainment is more swayed to their needs. If that doesn't bother you, then you'll have a great time!"

Love this place!
"Have just returned from our second trip to the royal son bou with my husband and 2 young children (aged 2 and 4) After thoroughly enjoying our first trip in May 2006 I can honestly say that standards are higher than ever. This is a must for all families who are looking for a beach holiday and entertainment for the kids. The beach is 2 minutes away through the hotels private walkway and this year a boardwalk has been added to help you get over the sand dunes. I reckon son bou beach is the best on the island, clean and safe for the children. The complex has a large main pool and a smaller splash pool for children, the place was fully booked whilst we were there but sunbeds were plentiful around both pools. The kids spent many a happy hour in 'kikoland' which is a very well supervised play area with bouncy castle, indoor play, baby club for 0-3, and organised activities such as pottery making and ball sports. You can sign your children in and leave them to play or stay and play with them. If you go half board you can choose to dine at either of the 2 restaurants both offering excellent self service hot and cold buffets. This was the highlight of the holiday, the choice and standard of food at both breakfast and dinner was outstanding, the children even have there own section with an excellent variety of freshly cooked meat, fish and vegetables. Evening entertainment starts with kiko and friends entertaining the children at around 8pm which is followed by a visiting cabaret act at 9pm, we enjoyed an Abba tribute band and a Chinese circus act during our week, very entertaining! To sum up, I can't speak highly enough of the royal son bou family club and will be booking again for next year. The place is clean and well maintained and attracts a mix of Europeans, we met Italian, French and German to name a few and it was great to see our children mixing with other nationalities."

"The staff are really kind and helpful and the waiter Jonathan was brilliant with our daughter (18months). Taking her up to the stage to meet Kiko the duck, on the evening entertainment provided for the children. Kikoland is good but definitely great for children 3+ yrs, but they do have an area for toddlers and staff to look after them. We went around the toddlers pool, which was lovely, perfect depth our daughter loved it really boosted her confidence with water. The place is lovely and clean and the maids do a great service however, be aware Germans seem to love this place so Brits were a bit out numbered and staff can speak a good level of English. The restaurant was buffet style which offered a wide range but mainly catered towards German type food. Whilst we ate a couple of times we left our daughter with the staff as they offer this free to enable you to eat your meal and relax. Ideal for a quiet holiday with no stress with a toddler who was happy. Beach was nice and clean, child friendly leaving your buggy at the top and a little walk down then to the sea. There was a Chinese, Irish bar, English bars, and around 5 restaurants we ate out at and where ever you go they love children and are helpful and friendly. Nice Perfume shop and a Lacoste shop but other than that, we got the bus into the town Mahon from Son Bou - but it gets really really busy so when we went another time we got a taxi, but just make sure you agree a cost beforehand and we had no problems at all. The town Mahon has lots of cobbled streets shops and supermarkets to stock up and a Burger King but that was very quiet though really and we found a lovely shop selling gorgeous ice cream. "

"This is an excellent choice of hotel for families. The beach only 150m away is clean and the sea-water is crystal clear. The Apartment was nice, clean and spacious. The Food was very good. The Pool is great and there is a good range of sports and games activities. The biggest assets is the facilities for the kids. The hotel-run kids club cater for all ages, even babies. There is a good sized play park (which is screened from the sun) with a climbing castle, bouncy castle, labyrinth, art + craft room, sports and games, and baby club for the under 4s with ball pools, toys and even cots for sleepy little ones. The childrenâs club team were excellent with the children and make a real effort to keep them amused with games, pony rides, and all sorts of activities. The club revolves around 3 characters which all the children seemed to love - Kiko, Cooqui, and Hooky. The same team will provide entertainment in the evening and they do a fantastic job all in all. Some other reviews have mentioned noise problems, but as we were the top floor we had no cause for complaint. The staff were very friendly, and helpful. We would happily return to this hotel as it exceeded our expectations by far."

Perfect place to stay with kids!
"Perfect place to spend great days with kids! The apartments were spacious, very clean and very well equiped. We spent one week with our kids and it was really worthy. The beach was very good, the staff very helpful, the entertainment was very good and the kids activities amazing! Regarding the food, breakfast and dinner were very good with plenty of choices, even for kids! Son Bou area is surprisingly calm and not to much touristic. It has what is necessary to spend very good vacation!!!"
