"I've been going to menorca with my family ever since i was 6 years old, we've always stayed in the mestral apartments. This year my girlfriend and i were planning to go on holiday and i knew the perfect place. The resort is wonderul for relaxing and is ideal for lazy couples. We chose to stay in the Vistimar studios because there was only the two of us and we didnt need alot of space, it is the cheapest place to stay aswell. However, i wouldnt let the price fool you, though it may be relatively cheap it still gives you everything you require and the placement of the bathroom is a lovely addition. The receptionists are extremely helpful also. Though the nightlift isn't exactly lively, there will be a bar open to have a drink and relax. If you are the realaxing type of person and if you're going as a couple or with young children, look no further"

uncomfortable stay at vistamar
"Santo tomas itself is a beautiful place, very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. We stayed at the vistamar apartments(2 adults, 2 children aged 1 and 6), the room was very cramped for a family of four. Cot looked liked it was about to fall apart, we had 2 single beds and a pull out for the rest of us and I have to say it was the worst nights sleep I've ever had (and I can usually sleep anywhere), the mattress had definately seen better days. On whole the kitchen was well stocked and the bathroom was a pleasant surprise, almost as big as the studio itself, and we had lovely views from the balcony. They were kept clean and we had frequent towel changes. The swimming pool area was nice if a bit cold at times as not heated, wouldn't advise for older children as not alot to entertain them. Restaurant on complex was adequate, not the cheapest and didn't offer the best variety. Although there are plenty of others to choose from. Overall had an enjoyable holiday shame about the accomodation."

The perfect self catering accommodation.
"Me and my boyfriend recently returned from a 7 day holiday at the Vistamar Studios and were more than happy with the accommodation. When deciding where to go on our holiday all we knew was that we wanted somewhere quiet and relaxing so we used holidaywatchdog's reviews to help narrow down our choices. They were extremely helpful so i wanted to return the favour :) On arrival the Vistamar looks much smaller than all the other hotels but we were already expecting that. The check in was quick and easy and the staff were all very friendly. Our room was on the second floor and on entering we were both shocked at how clean and cosy it was. The bathroom was the biggest suprise, tucked away behind a wardrobe door it was beautiful. There were two single beds which we pushed together, a ceiling fan and a safe was available for 10euros plus a 5euro deposit which you got back when you checked out. The only criticism was there was no radio or television in the apartment which at times made it a bit too quiet. The view from the balconys are amazing and the pool area is kept clean with lots of sunbeds to chose from. However the pool itself is freezing, they do not heat it. The beach was also beautiful especially when the sun was setting! We only ate at the Don Tomas restaurant once becuase the hotel next door offered a buffet dinner for 18euros per person which suited us better. The supermarkets are just down the road and are both resonably good value for money. At night the apartments could be occasionally noisy with people walking past and the entertainment from the neighbouring hotel. But overall it was a very enjoyable experience and perfect for anyone wanting to go self catering."

"Just back from the Vistamar studios and have booked up to return next year. The resort itself is small and friendly with a lovely stretch of beach. The apartments were first class, clean, comfortable and very well equipped - down to an iron and ironing board, corkscrew and bottle opener, with enough crockery to serve 4 at dinner! Prices are sky high in the resort but a short, inexpensive trip into the village of Migjorn on the bus is all that's needed. You can pick up your shopping for 50% less than in the resort. Around half of the apartments are privately owned so there is an exclusive feel to the area. The pool and gardens are beutifully well kept. We tried all the restaurants along the way - including each hotel but we returned to the Don Tomas, in the apartments, time after time. The food here is first class, well priced and varied. There is a nudist beach but you are told of this on arrival so if it is not for you then don't go there! There is a fan in each apartment which was fine for us. While we were there there were only 3 children all under 3 so there was no running and shouting around the pool either!! A very relaxing, comfortable holiday and we would definitely recommend to older couples and honeymooners looking for peace and quiet. "

Would definitely recommend.
"Just arrived home from a week long stay at vistamar in St Tomas. Transfer 45 mins from airport by coach - no probs. The appartments are scrupulously clean (and cleaned regularly). The little pull out bed was not particularly comfortable for our 8 year old, but it was ok. Hot rooms but all with balcony and a fan. Fantastic views across the pool to the sea. Best location in St Tomas. Best hotel for us, quieter at night. Our 13 yr old, 11 year old and 8 yr old just loved the pool and walking down to the sea. The Don Tomas (hotel restaurant) did great food and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel and we all want to go back there. A good location for trips out as it is the middle of the island."

"Cannot fault the airport transfer to our apartments. On arrival, staff very helpful and friendly. Apartments quite dated and small, but had everything you needed. The views were outstanding. The resort itself was very nice, quiet and small, ideal for us with 2 children - aged 5 and 1. The supermarkets were very expensive, and my only complaint would be that there was not much choice of local food in the restaurants. However, the food we ate out was lovely, especially at Es Pins, with beautiful sea views. We found an unlikely little gem of a cafe-bar in between the supermarket and other shops, with the most delicious tapas - run by Eva and Gloria - very good value for money and they were great with the kids. Everywhere we went, the locals were wonderful with the children and there were lots of little parks for the children to play in. Fantastic resort for familes who enjoy the quiet life with not much going on. Would definately go back as the value for money was outstanding."

"will not beat the view or location, just open the gate and your on the beach, food is very good at the don tomas , and the staff at the restaurant and reception are 1st class. appartments are basic and need updating, a lot are privately owned but met owners who are very nice. the resort is mainly for the older generation and is quite expensive, most places to eat are the hotels or restaurants at the appartments and are all roughly the same price and menu. i would not go again , not because the vistamar is bad but because the resort is very small, would be ideal for couples who want to just relax and are not to bothered about bars etc at night. be careful of the supermarkets as they are very expensive."

"Location was unbeatable overlooking the beach and sea which were almost within touching distance. Rooms were clean although small and beds weren't the most comfortable ( are they ever?) and fan was noisy so we turned it off at night. Staff were friendly, efficient and polite and food was whatever you wanted and varied. We had coffee & sandwich in the restaurant for breakfast and had the best steak meal dinner ever before we left. The tables are poolside and the restaurant is popular with non-residents and there are other tavernas and hotels in this small resort. You should visit Mahon & Ciutadella. Just my type of relaxing holiday and can't wait to come back. Watch the chef cook his specials at your table!!"

"The Vistamar Studios - i came here with my mam and my daughter who is 4 yrs old we loved it although it was very quiet, the studios are well equiped and nicely decorated full view of the beach and pool which looks stunning at night , beach is just on the door step and is very clean, pools are very clean aswell, the are quite a few restaurants, chinese aswell but the best pub we went to (quite often) was the bar halley which is an internet cafe which does brilliant meals at quite good value, use of the internet is really cheap aswell- supermarkets are well stocked but abit pricey. there is a tobacco shop aswell but it shuts at the end of september, it is worth having a look round mahon there quite a few good shops there aswell, and you must have a go on the glass bottom boat it is brilliant! all in all this is a brilliant holiday recomended for older couples or familys looking for a peaceful relaxing time we've already booked up to come back this year 2008 "
