"Apartments were in reasonable condition and clean . food was not what we expected ,given one menu to choose from then taken of us and given another when they realized we were half board .the food quality was so bad we went to a different hotel for our evening meal, would not go there. Again on a half board basis."

spot on(not the flea stuff)
"My wife and I have been twice now and will be going back,we normaly go the first to second week in May if you lick a quiet and relaxing break it is for you.with it being the start of the season there is not a lot to do which is not a bad thing.I must say at this time of yaer if I had Kids I woud go up the road to Calam Bosh. The hotel rooms are very well equipt with a full kitchen(fridge freezer full oven and hob)and clean. The first time we went we were given a upper floor two bed appartmet with a sae view(one double on suite a twin and sperate bathroom spot on)the scond time this year we had a one bed with a pool view not bad(a bit spoiled the year before). The beach, if you want half a mile of sand and sea to share with and I mean not a lot of people great(if you like to fish there are some good spots ask the locals). If you go self catering as we do shop at the super market in Es Migjorn you can get the bus about two euros each way or if you hire a car five mins away, the markets and super markets in Mahon and Ciutadelia are as cheap as chips(good call at the end of a site seeing day).Bus travel is good cheap but make sure you get a up to date time table.Best to book with Monach about the best price but do your research. All in all great spot, on the beach and great staff.By the way the resturant food is good but not cheap"

sometimes you get what you pay for...
"Sept. 2011 Could not fault app 405, very clean throughout, and everything we needed, modern enough, cooker, microwave, and good t.v.etc., i cannot understand people who expect completely up-to-date furniture etc! it's just furniture! All the staff, Management and cleaning staff, and maintenance, from receptionist, to bar, and restaurant, very friendly, and helpful, lovely people, one thing, expensive drinks, which may be beyond their control?,we went half-board, and the food was good enough. If you come to relax and chill-out from the 'rat-race'in the uk , then this is the place to be, situated perfectly by the beach.Yes perhaps could be one or two more restaurants, but on the whole, very friendly, peaceful, and safe for all. Although there is nothing we can do,we were very lucky with the weather, mostly very hot, dry and calm, you take your chance like anywhere else. We would like to return one day. "

Hit & Miss
"Stayed 2 weeks self catering in apartment 111. Good size with 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms and in a lovely position overlooking the pool and beautiful gardens, but oh dear! this was like stepping back in time. The furniture consisted of 2 bench seats that doubled as a bed in the living room, a book case from the 60s that had books on that looked and smelt like they came from the 1860s, dinning table and chairs.(a bit like a Austin Powers film set "YEAH BABY" ) Kitchen lacked basic utensils. Pots, pans and crockery all appeared to have been donated from a charity shop. The apartment was clean and bedding and towels changed regularly. The location was lovely, with a beautiful beach and a nice swimming pool area. Restaurant? had a lovely meal first night but after that ALL tables were reserved for half boarders, though we can recommend Hallys Bar and Es Pins with its beautiful beach location. It appears that the apartments do seem to vary considerably, so don't expect the same as you see on the web sites,as it seems they are indivually owned. "

best apartment ever
"I stayed at Hamilton Court at the end of the season. Apartment 516 is a two bedroomed apt. With e-nsuit in second bedroom and another large bathroom. Lounge dining area was large and homely leading quite a lage balcony. The kitchen was well furnished with a washing machine, fridge freezer and micrwave. You can also hire a TV which gets BBC1 and BBC2. The apartment was really clean and not a speck of dirt or dust anywhere. The pool and sunbed area are good and the bar restaurant clean and friendly. The reception staff were marvelous really helpful and friendly. Santo Thomas is very quiet resort but I found some pleasant walks along the coast and sea front. The locals are also friendly always saying Hi when passing. All in all a lovely place for a quiet break."

"after seeing the pictures on your web site of the apartments, we were very disappointed with ours (nothing like the pictures) i do believe we are in the 21st centuary.... where televisions and microwaves are stantard in all apartments (not in hamilton court) and you do not have to pay extra for, we asked for a upgrade, which we were willing to pay for and was told there were none although the hotel was very quiet."

Santo Tomas September 2010
"We have just come back from our stay in Hamilton Court for 2 weeks for which we had booked just 48 hours beforehand with Lowcostholidays. We were really thrilled with the spacious apartment for 2 people which could sleep 6 so it was fantastic and very well equipped, even had a dishwasher which we didn't use just for the two of us. It was home from home. The swimming pool is really clean and one of the nicest it seems on the island. There isn't a lot of places to eat in Santo Tomas apart from the hotels but we went out most days to various places and there is reasonable places to eat. The buses are good and cheap to get about but the last bus from Mahon is 7.45pm. If you go to Binnibecca there isn't a lot to do but very picturesque White Buildings it is another world. The buses are few and far between so make sure you get your connections. We found a lovely restaurant called Delaney's a little way up from the bus stop. Very reasonable and friendly owners. We would certainly return as the island is very pretty. You need to find your entertainment in the evenings, so check hotels as they are really good. The Las Dunas bar is a lovely place to have a drink. The barmen are really nice. No measures!!!! We would certainly return. The Spanish people here are really friendly too. "

Definately going back!!
"I would just like to say how happy we are with Hamilton Court Apartments. We got a cheap deal with Sunmasters so we did not expect to get a luxery apartment. We were over the moon we when arrived! There were 6 adults and 1 baby in our group, and we stayed in one of the 3 bedroom apartments. We absolutly loved our appartment, especially the private roof terrace. We couldnt have asked for more. It was spacious, well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Santo Tomas is a very quiet town. There are a few restaurants but it could definately do with a few more (to say the least!). We didnt find that any of the food was very nice, which was a shame. The nicest meal we had was at home, when we had a BBQ. Also there is no where to have a cooked breakfast apart from one pub or the hotels which are expensive. The beach was lovely. Very clean and not too busy. I could not believe how clear the sea was for Europe. We managed to snorkel and saw lots of fish. All the same but lots of them. We had a feb time away in Menorca. And would like to go back one day especially if Santo Tomas has more restaurants! :-)"

"i have just returned from menorca i booked a package with travel republic and everything went like clockwork good flight air con minibus transfer then a great appartmentfull bathroom inc bath shower cubicle bidet etc fully loaded kitchen right down to washer dryer lol and lovely sitting dining room 2 sofa beds table chairs tv with even bbc and a huge balcony over looking the pool and the beach my only comment is that it was probably the first time used this season and needed a good airing as a bit musty and maybe a lick of paint wouldnt have gone amiss but hey i paid £550 and in my opinion got more than my moneys worth the receptionist was very polite and helpfull and a nice restraunt/bar ps non smoking the pool big and spotlesswith ample sunbedsall in all good accomodation and i spoke to a couple who had payed through the nose for the sol hotel and they were enviousof what we had the resort is a quiet retreat with a handfull of bars and restraunts excluding hotels where all are welcome but beware it is expensive ie a pint of local 3.50 bread 3.50 milk 2.00 get the idea and for cigs you have to go to the next village and the bus service is limited and taxis expensive"

Right, where to start... the good stuff ...
"Right, where to start... the good stuff I think. Hamilton Court: These were fab apartments, brilliant. We had a 2 bedroom and the space is perfect, there was a big lounge/diner, decent kitchen, 1 big bedroom, 1 moderate size bedroom and 2 bathrooms (very handy) and a big balcony off the lounge and main bedroom. Whilst basic and maybe could do with a lick of paint (just being picky), it was clean and just what you need for a holiday base. The pool area is perfect, Big pool, a little cold but still nice, plenty of sunbeds, a great play park for the kids, our 2 year old loved the sand pit and slides. There is the Lady Hamilton Cafe/Restaurant on site which serves the usual beer/coffee/snacks throughtout the day and then dinner later on, we didnt try the evening menu but the Menorca Sausage and cheese toastie was great with a pint of San Migel ! The staff were all really friendly and helpful, no complaints at all. The beach just down from the apartments was beautiful, very clean sand, crystal clear warm water with lots of fish swimming around. Oh, if you want some amusing entertainment everyday, then, wait till around 11:00am and a bunch of italians staying at the hotel next to Hamilton all come down and start doing mad exercise games, all running madly around shouting who knows what ! insane, but it kinda looked fun ! and when you walk past the hotel they are all on spin bikes madly peddling in the heat, and thats a holiday ?!?!? Ok, thats the good stuff done, time for the bad. Cost ! everything in Santo Tomas costs a fortune, be prepared, take more money than you planned to, it wont be enough ! at the time we went the 1 euro was about 80p. I will give a quick rundown on average costs for items. Sunbeds on the Beach 18e (roughly £14) for 2 beds all day - take towels and lay on the sand, its nice and warm and free 1 Pint Beer - 3.50e / £2.80 Lunch - 3 toasted Sandwiches - 2 beers, 2 soft drinks - 25e / £20 Dinner - 4 Adult meals, 1 Child, 2 beers, 1 bottle wine, 2 desserts, 3 spirit coffees - 100e / £80 And the shops, unbelievable we are all used to resort shop prices but this is in a different league - they basically charge what they want, Milk is £1.60 for 2 pints, Swim nappies 11 nappies for £12, Bread £3 for a sliced white local. If you are prepared to look you can buy stuff at a reasonable price, Maybe I am a little out of touch with resort prices, as my last abroad holiday was in Turkey in 2005, but it was nowhere near this expensive. And also there is the Strong Euro not helping things, but I do get the impression that the local prices will change to always be near the sterling value. If you have a hire car for trips out then it would be prudent to stock up on supplies at one of the big supermarkets near Mahon while you're at it. Entertainment (or lack of it) - The night life in Santo Tomas is all hotel based. Apart from Las Dunas, this had some entertainment for the kids, disco type things, which was ok, nothing for the adults though unless you fancy doing the okey kokey or superman ! There are no bars/pubs to speak of, just hotel based which all seem to shut at 11pm. We were told that the Victoria Playa had entertainment on but we didnt go to see so I cant comment on what it was like. Food - ok, the food was not awful, it wasnt even bad really, just there was not much choice, there are not many restuarants and what ones they are all seem to server the same stuff, chicken & chips, fish & chips, pork & chips....I think you get the idea. We did find some places we liked. Don Tomas - this was hotel based and was really nice, friendly food was good, I enjoyed the Spag Carbonara and the rest of the family enjoyed their meals aswell. Es Pins (think thats what it was called) - this was nice too, nice views over the beach and the food was good. Las Dunas - This was good too, had a nice sea bream there, too pricey to have everynight though. We did try some local food, i.e Paella, but it was not really that good, so ended up sticking to Brit favourtites, or at least what they think is the brit favourites. Kids meals are all the usual types, fish fingers, chips, beans, nuggets etc... Weather - We went in Sept so it was always going to be changeable - which is was, 3 days of nice sunshine, then 3/4 days of rain, thunder (very impressive 12 hour lightning storm) but it was always warm. This is not a complaint on Santo Tomas as you can never tell with the weather and it was Sept. Ok, Conclusion time... All in all we had a good time, despite the prices and the lack of food choice, the resort is very clean, friendly and very kid safe, there are loads of parks scattered about the resort and of course the beach is a child winner every day ! Who should go - Families with young children 1-6 years (any older might get bored) Who shouldnt go - Anybody wanting bar/club nightlife, wanting to try new foods, lots going on etc... At the end of the day it is a 2 hour flight from Gatwick and a 30min transfer from the airport, just right for fidgety kids, It is purely a beach holiday, nothing more and for that reason we did have a good time and so did our 2 year old, at that age he can just happily play in the sand and water (which did get choppy at times) Hope this helps and happy holidays."
