13 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
We have just come home from a excellent...
"We have just come home from a excellent holiday which I can definitely recommend.
We were switched to the Club Princesa Playa a week before departure and didn't know what to expect although our daughter had checked out the reviews on this site.
The hotel surroundings are beautiful, very well maintained, clean and very friendly staff.
There was a wide range of self-service meals available to suit most tastes.
There were computers but some weren't working so it was not always easy to get on to them.
The staff were all very friendly. Some were very keen to practice their English!
The maids were fantastic. Our room was spotless the whole week.
The entertainment was great. Our daughter really enjoyed it, especially the African acrobatic act!
The hotel is a ten minute walk from the marina at Cala 'n Bosch where you can find banks, restaurants, bars and shops.
The beach at Son Xoriguer was sandy. Just behind the beach were some shops, a bar and restaurant.
The hotel has it's own small supermarket but there are a number of larger supermarkets close by.
Throughout the whole week the Cosmos Reps where very friendly and helpful.
We are definitely planning to return next year in August .

"just returned from 2 very relaxing and enjoyable weeks at the princesa playa. The pool is very large and caters for all ages and abilities. Even when they are doing activities in the pool there is plenty of room left for everyone else. The buffet was excellent and have def put on weight on our return. The hotel animation team deserve a special mention from the kids disco to the main evening entertainment these guys put in some work. Rooms are adequate but nothing special. Lovely beach 5mins walk away which doesn't get as busy as main beach in cala n bosch. Goody Goody park at marina a def hit for young kids. Would recommend buying 10 Euro all day wrist band as can work out quite expensive if paying individualy. Wld def recommend and will be returning in the future."

Fab, another relaxing hol in this fab hotel
"This was our second year to the Princesa Playa and were not disappointed everything was just fantastic we stayed from 22 June - 6th July with my two children aged 5 & 9. The food was excellent, the staff were excellent, The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels every day. My daughters were constantly entertained through the day in the pool, which is great for all ages, and the evening entertainment ,ok although is cheesy kept the kids happy which is what you want on holiday. Some of the acts ie the magic acts , chinese acrobats and varieke were outstanding. The waiters adored the kids especially Dani and Laabid and really made their holiday special, Dani even came into work 2hrs early to say goodbye on our last day. If you tire of the Hotel a short walk to the marina and you have shops, restaurants and the Goody Goody Park a kids heaven of bouncy castles, trampolines etc 3euros for 2 hrs a bargain. We hired a car again this year the nicest places to visit we found were Son Bou and cala Galdana both with fantastic beaches. Ciutadella is a must visit just for a wander around some of the boutiques and designer shops finishing with lunch on the port where the restaurants are set into the city walls. All in all if you have children under 11, fancy a really relaxing break, enjoy not doing too much on holiday and want good clean, spacious and a friendly hotel I would book the Princesa Playa with out a doubt. I have already recommended this hotel to a lot of my friends."

Nothing changed - still fab!
"I used to be a holiday rep at this hotel when it first opened, I remember the land being a pile of rubble the year before and looked forward to working there the following year. That was 10 years ago and not very much has changed, some of the staff are still there in the restaurant and bar. Pool and garden areas are still immaculate and well maintained. We were half board and the food is good, esp for vegetarians and some great fish dishes every day. Staff are very friendly and the entertainment is your typical hotel entertainment. I would highly recommend seeing the island by car. The resort is good with enough supremarkets within minutes walking and Cala'n Bosch is about a 10 minute walk away with more choice of bars and restaurants etc. The rooms are an adequate size for 2 but had experience of the apartments being slighty compact! The decor is still the same as are most of the furnishings but in good order. Overall, a great base for a relaxing holiday."

We have just returned home from a superb...
"We have just returned home from a superb holiday, staying at the Club Princesa Playa.
The hotel surroundings are beautiful, very well maintained, clean, and very safe for young children.
The maids were fantastic our apartment was spotless the whole fortnight.
Entertainment was great the only downfall for us was the childrenâs disco started at 9pm and the evening show began at 10pm and we were away with our 21month old& 4 year old sons and they were far too tired to really enjoy them.
Although when we did manage to go the shows they were fantastic, especially the oriental acrobatic act!
The only disappointment are the apartments are quite compact and you had to hire a kettle! Something we have never had to do!
Cala n'bosch was superb! Lots of restaurants to choose from although we had 2 favourites - El Pato & La Fontana.
Definitely recommend the waterpark, although we did go in June and it was very quiet we would imagine it to be very busy during high season.
The hotel is a short walk to the marina but reading negative reviews before our trip we expected a hike! This was not true, a nice 10minute stroll and you had everything there.
there are a few eating places closer, one in particular had a little park attached with bouncy castle, trampolines etc. (think the park is called la delfines park)
Beaches were ok although full of jellyfish in June!
To get to the beach use the back gate to the hotel, turn right, cross the road, and take first left as if you were going local supermarket, beach is located behind few shops.
Plenty of supermarkets around.
We are definitely planning to return next year."

3* hotel not 4 bad smell in room!
"Hi thought i would write a review, as i have just come back from this
hotel with my partner-my 1year old son. The hotel on first inpression
is good, clean etc, the reception is clean etc. We arrived at the hotel, and found out our room was not ready to go into, it needed cleaning hadnt been done yet, even those it was 2.30pm in the afternoon. after waiting around the reception for 30mins+ the room was ready.
The room itself is small, i booked a apartment for the 3 of us, the apartment is really a hotel room with a kitchen in the corner, so dont be fulled for space, this room is meant to sleep 4+ (no way).
The rooms are cleaned daily, there is a problem with the room those, not the cleaning side, the room always had a musty smell, when you came back to it, the sheets were changed daily, but would always be damp when you got in to them (very musty in bedroom area) i cant explain what it was causing it.
The aircoditioning was broken throughout the holiday, reported the problem saw they had alot of this fault on there list. they didnt fix it.
The food etc is average, i would say a 3 star hotel, not 4 the pool is fantastic those, for kids etc, the room definatly has something wrong with it, something rotting? we spoke to a couple who had the same problem here, the beach is small, hardly any swimming can be done, the water has jelly fish in, they come on shore.
PLEASE look at the feedback of this hotel on here, most of the top reviews come from 14-15year olds not people with kids. this is no way 1-2-3 best in minorca."

"Stayed with my wife and 3 children, all under 4 years old in June 2007. Found this hotel to be excellent. The room although small for 5 was adequate and very clean. Maid service was daily with fresh towels everyday.
We had a great room (328) which was on the ground floor and overlooked the pool. A great location for families with small children with buggies.
We booked self catering with Cosmos and paid for half board when we arrived it cost us about 360 Euros for the week, which we thought worked out as good value.
The pool was fantastic and always seemed very clean.
Location was great for the beach (make sure you use the exit by the tennis courts to cut out an extra 5 minute walk). The marina and most of the restaurants is about a 15 minute walk which is fine but can be a bit of a pain with little ones particularly in the hot sun. We tended to walk there and get a taxi back which cost between 5 and 6.50 Euros depending on the time of day.
Overall we had a great holiday and would recommend this hotel to any family with young children."

Best family holiday ever!!
"We booked the Princesa Playa via a Cosmos package holiday for 14days, after reading the reviews on tripadvisor.
What a great family holiday location. We stayed in a hotel room with our young (3.5yrs) son, which was the first time he'd stayed in the same room as us, on a halfboard basis.
The hotel itself is very pleasant and well kept with polite friendly staff. The rooms are clean and airey and the maid comes daily so there's not much to do.
The restaurant is where the hotel exceeds, espcially for families with young children. After a hard day at the pool, a quick shower and change for dinner and a short hop to the dinning room is all it takes. The food was superb and different every night, with a choice wide enough for everyone and not in short supply.
The kids clubs and facilities are an added bonus which our son really enjoyed, there are two kids clubs if you book via Cosmos, as the hotel operate their own too.
Pool and outdoor areas were lovely and the pictures don't do it justice, even when busy there's no shortage of sunbeds (not your usual rubbish either) and the pool(s) are huge.
The whole holiday flowed and felt relaxed the hotel create a welcoming and friendly environment which is why you go on holiday after all isn't it."

Excellent holiday! When we arrived here...
"Excellent holiday! When we arrived here it was a lovely place with very friendly staff.
Our room was the best we have ever stayed in. The towels were changed nearly every day.
The pool was brill as there were 3 sections so ideal for all ages.
Entertainment at night was really good with a different act on every night. The beach was 5 minutes away. It got quite busy on the beach and there were jellyfish a couple of days, but other than that it was lovely and clean.
I would definitely go back to this resort."

One of best holidays we have ever had!
"We stayed in the hotel on half board and I have to say we didn't have any quibbles at all.
The staff, rooms. hotel, resort and island can best be described as wonderful.
The choice of food is amazing and we did not feel repetitive, yes the resturants in Cala n Bosch are nicer but our kids loved that they could eat as much as they wanted every night!
Its a friendly hotel for families and older couples and a very very relaxing environment.
The cosmos rep was helpful and friendly and not at all pushy, he was there nearly every day.
Our kids loved the kids club and the the reps knew all teh kids names from the 1st day.
We will be going back!"

Not 4 star plus apartments
"I have just returned from a week in the self catering apartments at this complex. I cannot understand how these apartments gained their official 4 star rating, and I am even more baffled by Cosmos rating them 4 star plus.
The first thing that you notice on entering the apartment is the stale smell. Reception told me this was because the apartments had been closed up for the winter and they just needed airing. On closer investigation I discovered that the smell was attibuted to the mould growing in the wardrobes, and the kitchen cupboards. (I think the apartments had been cleaned at the end of the season and closed up for the winter whilst still damp). I spent the first afternoon and evening of my holiday cleaning. The fridge was disgraceful - I have thrown out better fridges than the rusty one that was in our apartment.
On the plus side the gardens, pool area and restaurant (we ate there a couple of times in the evening) were fantastic and truly worthy of their star rating. The reception and restaurant staff were very polite and helpful.
If these apartments were cleaned thoroughly and the old applicances updated then I would have no hesitation in recommending this complex as a great place to stay."

Dissappointed. Shouldn't be No.1 on trip advisor
"Booked this hotel, as had such great reviews which gave it the No.1 position on trip advisor. Would have to say, we were slightly disappointed and extremely glad that we had the week on a special offer through COSMOS. Not really sure how it has had such high ratngs in the past.
The hotel itself was clean and tidy, if a little dated. The rooms were O.K, as we hardly spent any time in it, however, could do with being updated. There was a fridge which we used for drinks, but wouldn't trust it to being cold enough for food or milk etc.
The highlight of the evening entertainment was the kiddies mini disco. Wouldn't bother with the rest of the entertainment.
The food was fine. Breakfast was lovely, lots of fresh croissants, pastries, bread, fruit etc and ample hot selection
Dinner was O.K if a little repetitive. But perfectly O.K for a buffet selection. We were on half board, but you can change a dinner sitting over to a lunch if you fancy eating out in the evening. This we did on 2 evenings, which gave us the opportunity to eat in Cituadella and also Calan Bosch. Much better !!
The snack bar by the pool is dreadful. You're better off walking to the beach ( 5 mins ) and having lunch there. The pizza's are great, as is the spag bol.
The pool was lovely, but a little cold in May. Two parks for the kids which were great and a bouncy castle and play area which our daughter loved.
If you're looking for a clean hotel, with friendly willing staff and O.K food that is reasonably priced, then this hotel is fine. However, don't expect it to be brilliant.
Final point, if you can, don't pay for the coach transfer as it it last on the drop and pick up and apparently takes forever. It is just as cheap to hire a car for the week, which we did and also had the benfit of being able to drive places in the week."
