"We stayed at the Viva Menorca last July for one week self catering and i cannot find anything negative to say about the Hotel.
The Staff were absolutely fantastic, the rooms were spotless and the pool and surrounding areas were fantastic. If you are thinking of visiting i could not recommend it highly enough.
The entertainment for the kids kkept them busy all day and into the night.
We are returning in July 2008 for two weeks and will be going again for sure.. "

"We returned this morning, after 1 week at viva Menorca aparthotel. Following reading previous reviews, I was slightly apprehensive of our visit, but had absolutely no reasons to worry.
A party of three families, containing 4 children with ages ranging from 10-2 years, all were catered for. The 1 bedroom appartments had ample space for self catering accomodation and were kept adequatley clean with maid service 5 times a week. We did not encounter ants and as I'm a little fussy where my 2 year old sleeps, I took my own travel cot, which incidently is not included in your weight travel allowance,so did not incur any further costs. I cannot fault any of the staff members, they were all curtious, friendly and helpfull.
The 2 oldest children, 10 and 4 years, were regularly amused during the day by the specially assigned childrens team, where they learned new and practised old skills and were then rewarded during the kid's evening entertainment with certificates for their acheivments. Following this, the adult entertainment commenced, which was also suitable for children. It ranged from Robbie Williams tribute to African acrobatics. The only negative comment regarding this accomodation would be that the swimming pool temperature was a little on the chilly side, but hey, it didn't ruin our holiday!
My final comment is with regards to the first choice reps. There were 2 assigned to this resort. The female, who's name escapes me, was very sweet and although we had little contact with her, seemed friendly and obligigng. The male, who I think was named Craig could however benefit from some customer relation classes. We were initially informed to meet our departing transport between 06.40-07.10. At 07.30 we were all still waiting, with tired, hungry children. Craig eventually decided to turn up, but didn't feel it necessary to inform us of a change in schedule.
A Thomson rep, also waiting for the transport, informed us that the coach was delayed. When approached by other confused customers, Craig became quite verbally aggressive and defensive, which really does not help an already aggrevated situation.
So to summerise, Viva Menorca- fabulous, First choice Craig- Pratt!

"The hotel was lovely and the staff were amazing. On our first night my dad got rushed to hospital and was in intensive care for the remains of the holiday, the hotel reception staff were amazing. We only had to walk up to the reception and they called us a taxi.

The rooms were lovely, quiet and very clean. The pool was lovely but very cold. I cannot fault this hotel and the staff at all but I can fault the tour operators that we went with. The girls for First Choice at the hotel were very rude and certainly not understanding and fobbed us off every time we asked them something and wanted there help with regards to visits to the hospital, changing our flights etc. The tour operator is the only one that you can book this hotel through which is very unfortunate.

"Whilst searching through endless pages for a holiday for 2008 that might stand a chance of matching up to the 2 weeks we had last year in Viva Menorca, I thought I would have a look at the reviews that were already posted for this hotel.

We found everything about this hotel absolutely fantastic, more importantly so did our 2 year old daughter.

I was surprised to see some reports complaining about the lack of sun loungers. When we usually came down to the pool area around 10:00 in the morning after having breakfast in the apartment we always managed to get a bed without any problem.

As for the entertainment, if your expecting a Vegas show then you will be disappointed, but if your expecting good family shows in a superb outdoor area that will definitely keep the kids happy you certainly wont be let down.

We made lots of friends with other families and soon there was a good crowd meeting up each evening, which seemed to happen all over the complex making a really good and safe atmosphere throughout the complex.

I would definitely recommend Viva Menorca and Cala N Bosch to anyone looking for a family holiday in Menorca.

If there is any word of caution I would give it was that while we were there at night the mosquitoes were in abundance so make sure to take some repellant."

"We were most impressed with the hotel; the facility, it's staff and the overall cleanliness was wonderful.

The nightly entertainment was varied and always fun.

The resort was well within walking distance of everything you could want. The marina was lively and the food at 'El Pato' was superb.

For a quiet beach, ideal for nude swimming and sun bathing, you can cycle to Son Saura, it's only 10mins away and beautiful.

Although the location is excellent, Cala n Bosch is the farthest resort away, so if you go on a bus tour, you are travelling to pick up other holiday makers for two hours before you even start the tour. When you do finally get going you really only have a maximum of half an hour in each place, sometimes less. I wouldn't recommend the tours. Hire bikes or a car, it's much cheaper.

We had a smashing time and the First Choice reps, Fran and Stacey were always on hand to make sure everything was satisfactory.

"Just got back from Viva Menorca and thought the hotel was lovely we had an upgraded room which was overlooking the pool which was lovely.

The rooms are very clean but quite small not as big as they look in the photos. The pool area is really clean and the children loved the evening entertainment.

The hotel is only a ten minute walk from the harbour which is full of different restaurants and also Cala 'n' Bosch beach is really nice as well.

Only complaint would be the useless and we thought dangerous kettles as they are ones that boil on the stove but were within reach of our 2 year old. Did ask for another but they said electric kettles are more dangerous!

Overall rating we would give a nine out of ten. Also book a car when you are at the hotel as only about 35 Euros for a week!

"Hotel seemed very clean but thousands of ants in wardrobes, cupboards etc. Make sure that someone gets up by 7.30 for the sun beds and is prepared to guard the towels because they are collected by pool staff if left for longer than an hour.

Restaurant has lots of choice but is repetitious, meat, cooked veg, paella, salad. If you have any problems don’t ask the First Choice rep unless you want to find out how many ways she can sayno!

Lovely area especially for kid’s nice beaches but as scuba divers the diving isn't that exciting although the diving staff are excellent and are very caring with your children but note that Spain's laws prohibit under 14's diving in the sea.

"Just back from Viva Menorca and what a superb place to stay. The apartments were spacious and clean and the air conditioning was a godsend. I would recommend as a great place to take a family as there is something for everyone.

The only problem we had was with the sun beds. It appears that we have turned into the Germans and have to reserve beds at 7:30 in the morning to get one. The staff started removing towels from the 1st of August on an hourly basis if nobody had claimed the beds so beware. (Personally I agree with this but it did get up some peoples noses).

The Entertainment was excellent onsite. We did not eat in the Buffet restaurant apart from the last morning and it is pretty much what you would expect. It is only a short walk to the Marina which has various restaurants and a play park for the kids, also a trip to Cituadella is recommended for shops and restaurants.

15 minutes on the bus from just outside the Hotel. 1 euro 65 each single. Booking again for next year, this time for 2 weeks and will hire a car to see more of the island.

Overall 10 out of 10.

"Went with two other couples, a child of 4 and our little boy 17mths.

Was a very nice hotel complex although a bit of a walk to the marina and beach, about 15 minutes but take the sea route and it’s great.

Biggest disappointment we had was arriving and being told that we had to pay extra immediately for a cot, as per the previous comments at the same rate.

Unfortunately felt instantly ripped off as we had paid for the under 2 child place, First choice rep at the hotel did absolutely nothing to help either, and would not recommend them to anyone.

The pool is crowded and the baby pool is so small we never even got to use it, if you get up early though you can do the customary thing and reserve beds. Entertainment was ok, Queen night was very good.

We have been to Menorca for the last 3 years and love it, was let down more by the travel company than the Hotel, which I think was pretty much ok."

"The Viva Menorca apartments were generally quite nice, and we really liked Cala n Bosch.

Good Points:

We really like Menorca, and planning to return again.. Cala n Bosch is a really nice place. Really like the marina, wish it was completely pedestrianised though..

Cala n Bosch’s beaches are great, especially the farthest one!

Ciutadella is well worth the visit!

Lovely restaurant in Cala Blanca to watch the sunset!!

There was one day where the entertainment was impressive, and that was the Queen Tribute night. Entertainment on other nights was disappointing, but the children seem to enjoy it!

If you have a baby or young child, this is the place to go, there were so many babies, we had a 10 month old, and we talked with quite a few others who had children almost the same age, even met someone with a 4 month old!

Bad Points:

Pool area was really crowded and I thought of calling the place viva Sardinia!! However, Cala n boshe is superb in that we just went to different pools outside Viva Menorca and spent our time there.

For example we strolled over to Titanic Park and all we had to do is order a drink and we could relax by their pool all day and it was far less crowded…. We found this when we drove to Cala Blanca, we found a public pool bought a drink and we had the pool all to ourselves! It was very relaxing.. So we only spent half a day out of the whole week at Viva Menorca’s Pool.

We didn’t realize that cots were not included with the price and had to pay an extra €5.50 per day

We asked for a High Chair on arrival and didn’t receive it until day three!!! I complained and refused to pay for the cot fees for the two days...

Very important, if you have a baby or young child, make sure your flight is not late coming back. Our flight was for about 8pm (which is late enough with a baby, but thought we would risk it) However our flight was delayed over 2 hours and our baby was not happy… as a result we will not book a holiday with flights in the evening again!

Summary:

Viva Menorca is located very well to explore Cala n bosch, we really enjoyed our holiday, what made it for us was hiring a car for a few days to explore a bit of the Island and the fact you could go to any public pool and hang out there to relax.

Viva Menorca is a baby Mecca that is great for babies, but unfortunately the pool area isn’t big enough for the amount of people, but the rooms were clean, however smaller than I expected… their photographer is good!

So value for money is not so good unless you get a deal (last minute etc..) So next time we are going to book a villa."

"We had a wonderful week. The hotel and rooms were spotless. The grounds and pool were beautiful. We have twins almost five and a fourteen year old the hotel appealed and catered to them all.

Maid service was great they work none stop and always have a smile. The entertainment staff were excellent with everyone our kids loved it. Something which was particularly nice was how friendly all the other guests where.

Our only criticism we opted to buy breakfast on arrival for the week it really wasn’t good, often cold no variety the same everyday, however again it was spotless in there.

We as a family would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to go back soon.

Hope you enjoy as much as we did."
