"This holiday was fantastic! Everything was fantastic! The people are very friendly. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from!! Friendly entertainment with Antoine. My kids are 15 and 12 and don't usually get involved with entertainment but the activities were so good that they got involved everyday they played water polo and more activities. We had a fantastic rep that was always around to makesure that everyone was happy and that there were no problems with anything. Also the pool bar is always open and sells drinks, food ice creams etc. When the pool bar just at about 6.45pm the hotel bar then opens for happy hour. I would definately reccommend this holiday for everyone. "

Used to be our favourite place
"I went to this hotel with my parents in July of last year, which was the fourth or fifth time we had stayed there, and after the last visit I really donât think weâll go there again.
Iâll reiterate the point about the unfathomably loud music â it was deafening. So much so that another nearby hotel actually called the police. We were sat on our sunbeds when a policeman arrived and walked straight to the refreshment hut from which the music is controlled. The blaring Michael Bolton, or Abba or Bob Marley or whatever godforsaken noise it was, was turned off immediately, only to be ramped up again by the âentertainerâ when he returned from his merciful lunch break.
This man was atrocious. He was rude, in your face, and really rather aggressive. Call me a boring traditionalist, but when I go on holiday I like to do this fabled thing known as ârelaxingâ. But that clearly was not the entertainerâs take on what a two week break means. He actually insulted the people who declined his offer of âaqua gymâ and said that we were lazy via the microphone, which was permanently grafted to his mouth â when he wasnât strutting around and flexing, that is.
My dad went to reception to ask if the music could be toned down, seeing as the weight of the police visit clearly was short-lived. He was shrugged at by the Rep. Another father did the same thing the following day and was told that if he and his family didnât like the music then they could go to the beach. This was frankly unbelievable. Aside from the price that a two-week stay at the Casas Del Lago Hotel costs, holiday-makers generally arenât in the habit of being told what to do for their money. The music was regularly so loud that I could hear it through my iPod earphones with the volume at maximum.
The most saddening thing about this is that the Casas Del Lago Hotel was not always like this. Four years ago it was still as pricey, but it was relaxing, and there was no pumped up larey man pontificating around the place insulting everyone who didnât want to do what he wanted them to.
I totally agree with digbybaigentâs review, and felt that I should add my opinion to the list of reviews for this hotel, mainly to highlight that it was not always like this, and also to ask that the management seriously reconsider exactly what it is they think people like to do on their holidays. We used to love this place, but will not go again.

"Just returned from Casas del lago apartments. Excellent location and apartments spotless, cleaned every other day and linen changed twice a week, towels three times.
If you want a view of the marina this should be requested with your tour operator as one third of apartments do not have this view. Abundance of sun loungers and parasols round the pool at no charge. All kitchen appliances are in the apartment including micro wave. Only complaint would be the loud music played poolside durung the day by the entertainer! which wacompletely unneccessary. Restaurants around the marina were many and we found El Pato exceptional."

Can't wait to go back
"Stayed in Casas Del Lago in August with my husband and teenage daughter. The apartments were lovely and clean and well maintained. The view of the marina is spectacular. The pool and surrounding area was clean and there were always plenty of loungers.
Antoine is the best entertainer always full of energy and fantastic with the children. Nathlie and Lenka were great fun. Antoine's quizzes are one of a kind and must be experienced to be appreciated, we were in hysterics most of the time.
All in all a fantastic holiday and we can't wait to go back."

beat our expectations
"My wife & I in early 60s but very young at heart booked this apartment via Thomas Cook and went 1th Oct to 23 October 2009. This week is the last week before total closure of the resort for the winter. The only downside ref the resort was that 90% of the restaurants and bars had already closed and those that were open were closing daily. We have been to the resort previously and do like it. The quietness didn't spoil it for us but young people with school aged kiddies looked bored. No entertainment in the complex.
The reception staff were extremely polite and pleasant. The cleanliness of the apartment (we stayed in number 12) was the best we have ever known. Towels changed 3 times in 1 week plus clean bedding mid week. What surprised us was that considering this was the end of season, everything was spotless and clean.Prices of food eating out is comparable to UK ,however £2.85 for litre of fresh milk and £3.10 for a small BIMBO loaf is taking the mickey. The Euro v £ is poor but things were hiked up in price.
All in all a brilliant place...bus stop outside the hotel goes to Cuitadella every 30 mins.
Beds very comfy and as a previous writer said once the blackout blinds are closed and with the bedrooms being on the back peace and quiet is great. My tip would be to as for a room numbered between 2 and 16 as these all have great views.WE WILL RETURN!!!!!"

very good with a few exceptions
"overall the holiday was very good and i would highly recommend the Cssa Del Lago to couples, and families with very young children, not a place for teenagers and the 20/30 crowd.
The hotel had a lovely view over the marina which was jam packed with Resturants, and a few shops and supermatkets.
We had meals out, and can highly recommend the El Pato and Bahia, also Chaplins. The meals at El Pato ( The Duck ) was the best value foe money and nothing was to much trouble for the waiters, the place was full most nights, and ome or two nights had people waiting for tables. Try one of their boards.
All the resturantswe used were very good with small children.
The one downside to the hotel was their charges for self catering basics.
Safe 50 euros for 2 weeks with 10 euros back when you leave
Kettle 23 eur " " " " 5 " " " " "
Toaster23 eur " " " " 5 " " " " "
H/chair25 " " " " " 0 " " " " "
Other items such as Ironing Board, Portable Heater, And Fan were all similar cost.
one weeks charges slightly higher on a pro rata basis I.E Safe 35 Euros including 10 euros deposit Kettle 23 euros including 5 euros deposit.
The Beach is close by but can get a little crowded, if you walk out beyond the beach on a footpath between the rocks you will find a lot of little coves, and another beach at the far end, which has resturants overlooking it."

Not as good as people made out
"we asked for a view over the marina, as the blurb said all appartments have this view i was confident. however, all we could see was the back of the appartments in front of us. we were right down the far end away from the pool (that was OK) but we had no view. our TV wouldn't turn on without the remote control. the very nice man who came to repair it was not a TV repair man and only did what i had already done. Channel 3 was frozen and it was not fixed during our stay. as we didn't go there to watch TV that wasn't a big issue. having to pay for a toaster, kettle and safe was a rip off though. these have been free at other places. the best thing was the curtains. silly, but a good sleep in helps you to recover and these kept the daylight out very well. the "animator" was great at night, but a pest during the day. his music was too loud and inappropriate. the Aqua-gym class he took was dangerous. he kept the poor souls in the blazing sun for over an hour, no warm up, erratic exersizes to music that wasn't meant to accompany excersize Eg no rythm, just loud. and he would often wander off during the class to do somthing for himself. the surrounding area was good at night, not many places for just a drink, but plenty to eat at, although there tended to be not much choise. prices were a bit steep but the whole thing was good for an evening strole. everything closed down at midnight and our appartment was nice and quiet. the nearest beach was a little small and there were plenty of old fag ends in the sand. the sea was good for snorkling and plenty of people were jumping off the rocks into the water. we won't be going back, but i can see others really enjoying the place"

"just got back from Casas Del Lago. Having worked hard all year i was looking forward to a quite time. Antone, the Animater, was a nice guy and in the evening was a plesure. From 3 till 5 he put a big sound system on the pool side to "entertain" us. very strange music, far too loud. i complained and it was turned down, later i over heard him complaining about "people not being happy" and "he needed it loud for the water gym." i take classes and know loud music is good to work out to, but this had no rythm and his class was a joke. the tv in our room broke and a nice man came to mend it. he did exactly what i had done and left telling me to get a remote control. you shouldn't need this and the tv was not fixed. our tour rep contacted us 3 times, to remind us to "tick the excelent box on the feed back form" the nice view over the marina we asked for, turned out to be of roofs. we could just see some lights and that was about it. we were down the far end away from the pool and i think the bottom rooms had an even worse outlook. not having a kettle or toaster was a pain and a rip off, but we boiled water in the microwave and ate bread. we thought the beach was a bit dirty, quite a few fag ends in the sand and very busy at times. also 17 euros for 2 beds and a shade. there are some nice bars and places to eat, but we found it expensive. everyone was nice and the complaints above did not spoil our holiday. silly as it sounds, the best thing was the black out curtains. we slept till 12 noon it was that dark. the room had a high cieling and good aircon, so it was pleasent to stay in, with a good sized balcony. we won't be going back. but i'm sure it will suit some peole."

"We have just come back from cala n bosch and we stayed in casas del lago hotel... we found the apartments very spacious and comfortable but did not rate the maid service as they didnt do much. my partner had to clean the apartment on several occasions. The entertainment in the hotel may well have been non- exsistant as they had a mini disco for children 3 nights running playing same music over and over again... day activities in hotel were not very good either.. aqua arrobics for the ladies for 1 hour daily..
The only other downside to the hotel was that you had to pay for toaster..kettle..safes and believe it or not tv remotes, we were told when we booked holiday that there were no hidden costs. This became quite costly.
The plus sides were that you had beautiful views of the marina and central to everything around you. only few mins walk from restaurants/ bars/beach/ mini markets etc...
Although we were on a self catering basis we found it more expensive to buy food in to cook after the 1st few days and it worked out cheaper to eat out... you couldnt get bored of the food, plently to choose from for every budget.. We highly reccommend the Brittiana Bar, we found it lovely here and spent most breakfasts and evening here.. however we donot rate the Fiesta resturant as we found it not to be value for money and the people that ran it were quite rude and arrogant!! We found that people in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. All in all we did find this holiday very enjoyable and hope to return next year.. taking other family members with us. Hope the cleaner's do their job better next year!!"

"We stayed here for the first 2 weeks of the school holidays: myself, my husband and 2 daughters 14 & 12.
We had an upstairs apartment by the pool and overlooking the marina - i don't think i've ever had such a lovely view. The apartment itself was spacious with sofa beds in the living area (could happily accomodate adults), a table & 4 chairs, a small kitchen area with hob, sink, microwave and fridge. We took a travel kettle and a camping toaster (bargin buy on ebay for about £3!). A nice size bathroom and a double bedroom with quite a bit of storage space. The maids came every other day to clean and change towels and every 4 days for linen - they did a great job and were very friendly. There is a pool bar where you can get snacks until about 6pm and in the evening there is a bar in the hotel. There are also 4 internet stations 1 euro gets you 15 mins. A small shop is located in reception where you can buy essentials (water & chocolate!) Antoine and Diana run the entertainment and your holiday would not be complete without taking part in one of Antoine's quizz's! The Thomas Cook rep Becki was fantastic was always happy and helpful!
The guests are mostly British and with families. My daughetrs made lots of friends and the adults made a few too! The hotel is right at the centre of the resort and the lovely beach is a 2 minute walk down the road. The resort itself is family orientated & most things seem to shut at midnight. We ate out every night and can recommend El Pato, Avanti and Tropicana. We ventured out on the local bus a couple of times and went on the Amigos boat trip-go on the one where you can swim in caves - we had a very enjoyable morning.
We had a fantastic holiday and would certainly recommend this hotel to any family travelling to Menorca.

fun fun and more fun!
"Myself and my husband have travelled to Casas de Lagos with our two teenage daughters (age 14 and 16)for the last two years along with another family who also have two teenage daughters the same age as ours, we had concerns that Cala'n Bosch would be too quiet for our girls so it was with great trepidation that we re-booked, as the 16 year old girls would definitely need more entertainment. When we arrived we were given a ground floor apartment beside the pool which started our holiday off on a great footing. It made such a difference to us. Travelling from Dublin we were in the euro so we did notice a great reduction on prices from 2008. There is a great choice of restaurants in the Marina but we found that our favourite was La Marine. It was by far the nicest restaurant we had been in and there was a much better choice of good white wine. We ended up having 3 or 4 meals there. Some of the nights they had a set menu for 13.95 and 19.50 but was absolutely fantastic and the waitors were so professional. Our other favourites were Il Pato and Avanti. We ate on the beach most lunchtimes which was fantastic, the view and the beer grande hit the spot! but leaving all that aside credit where it is due the entertainment was really enjoyable this year Antoine was fantastic, he bonded with the children and ourselves and he had a great ability to get us all involved in whatever he was doing from the Aqua Aerobics, Water polo and his infamous quizzes and even his Mr. and Mrs night! which caused great excitement. Antoine definitely made the holiday for us. Diana also worked in the entertainment and had a great rapore with the girls she was equally as good. Greg and Ingrid were most friendly in the bar and always had a smile. We all had an absolute blast and were really sad our two weeks was up. The girls met a fantastic crowd and were crying leaving, which to me is a sign of a fab holiday. Would so love to go back another year but could be pushing it with 17 and 15 year olds, but will work on it if we knew Antoine or similar entertainment would be back again for 2010!"
