"you really do get wot u pay for!!!!
i went with my two daughters aged 11 and 13 and my hubby. even though we had read all the advise we thought we were ready for it we expected the basic and the basic we got.
the cleaners were the most friendliest they really did work hard our rooms were cleaned 4 times a wk sheets changed twice a week.
the beds were awfull matresses to small for bed so if you sleep at edge you would wake with a fall.
it rained for 5 days solid which you do expect this time of year but no entertainment for the kids!!!
they had a lady who aimed everythimng at under 7's and even that was a shame half hr sing songs.
we went for 2 wks and only had 3 nights of entertainment again aimed at 7 year olds but they tried.
take a well equipted fisrt aid bag as there is no first aider on site
the pool was freezeing didnt go in this once all holiday!
grounds nice and clean.
the area is run down be prepared to walk for cigarettes they dont sell any on site or have vending machine for them, no supermarkets sell cigarettes anymore.
wouldnt eat at vista blanes we were all ill after eating there.
go to beps round the corner best prices around that area and delicious.
found places over expensive cheaper over here.
try blackhorse they are reasonable but again delicious.
i wouldnt go back to menorca again i think the euro is terrible you get better bargins in Britain."

Loved Menorca hated Vista blanes
"I stayed at the Vista Blanes Apts for 1 week in October 07. I know i've said my review is terrible but its not as bad as you might think. Vista Blanes apts are cheap and you get what you pay for. The walls would be more sound proof if they were made from paper. The rooms are clean-ish on arrival but don't expect a maid to bang you out of bed in the morning because that just does not happen! They gave us clean sheets so we could change our own beds, and they did clean the bathroom once. The beds are extremely uncomfortable. In fact if you want to Visit Menorca then I would suggest trying somewhere in Cala Forcat as that is where everything is. Its not a long walk from Cala Blanes if you haven't got kids, but if you want ease and like everything on your doorstep then you'd be better off in Cala Forcat. It is a very English resort and there are loads to Entertain the kids. Frankies Bar even has a PS3, which was good when it rained. I did have a really good Holiday but no thanks to the Vista Blanes, it's very rude staff and as for the Rep's, they'd be better off working with younger holiday groups as the only time we could find 1 was drunk in a pub! Beware older kids clubs start from 6 years old. Even if your child (like mine) is going to be 6 in 2 weeks time they wont let them in with there friends.
More about Cala Forcat.......There are lots of the same old style spanish gift shops there and there is one that I thought was fantastic. It sells gifts that are more original than the ashtrays we all know so well. It's called Mystic Rose. Its owned by an English family. You can find all sorts of very unusual gifts right down to Spanish xmas ornaments, and for a very cheap 15 euros you can get a Tarot reading aswell. I had never had a Tarot Reading before, so i thought why not? I was amazed at how much this woman knew about my life!! I had never met her before my reading and she was spot on! I never realised how many people had Tarot readings either, so remember if your going in height of season it may be best to book in advance.
Eating out......That was not a problem at all. Most Restaurants have a specials menu and you get a good choice of food (6 diiferent starters, mains and desserts) so if you don't like Spanish food or you have children that are fussy they usually can accomadate you.
Drinking out.... That can be expensive so be careful and don't be shy to try the local Pomeada. It's very refrshing but remember its Spanish measures!
On the whole I had a fantastic Holiday and would visit Menorca again just not the Vista Blanes. I'm not boring i just hate disrespectful staff and guests who are an embarrasment to our country. Those forty towers jokes are lame and offensive."

A Good Base to Explore the Island
"We booked our holiday at the last minute and chose Vista Blanes because of the good price and reviews on Trip Advisor.
The Apartments are clean and well maintained, if basic. We went out of season (September) and the place was busy with young Families.
After two days we were going a bit stir crazy as the local beach was small (though very pretty) and got very crowded, I can't imagine how busy it would be in July/August!
The local resort and ameneties were a real let down. Everything was English! English pubs, fish and chip etc etc. Whenever we ate there the food was dire and the atmosphere terrible.
Luckily the buses are great and £1 and 10 minutes later we were in Ciutadela which is lovely and authentically Menorcan with great restaurants, bars and old buildings.
We rented a car for 4 days and found some lovely beaches such as Cala Galdena and Macarella, this is where we will go next time we visit Menorca!
Overall we can't fault the apartments for the price but the are let down by the local resort which is a 10 minute walk away. I am sure if you have kids and can put up with the awful food served specifically for the English then this a great place to visit."

Really great holiday
"I found this holiday on Latedeals.co.uk 4 weeks before we travelled, I booked it for my Husband as an aniversary gift, (wedding aniversary of 18 years). It was very cheap paying £160 each for 7 nights.
The apartment was a studio in block 5 at the top. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The room had two single beds (which pushed together lol), a dinning area, kitchen area with a two ring cooker, a microwave, pots and pans, cutlery and cooking utensils, also an Iron and Ironing board. The bathroom was really clean, a good sized bath with shower and curtain, wash basin, toilet and bidet.
The swimming pools were a good size and warm, with plenty of sunbeds. They were situated in the middle of the apartments with the bar and resturant at the far end.
The bar was reasonable and we drank there most nights as there was entertainment on every night. We never ate there so I can not coment on the food, we went into Forcat every night for tea as there are lots of places to eat and wanted to try them all. There was a great pizza place just in the back street, very friendly and the food was great, I think it was called giavannos (or summat like that) look out for it ,gave us a free bottle of wine for the next visit too.
We went on this Holiday without the kids a romantic week on our own and we really enjoyed this complex. The place was really nice and lots of places to go. We are going to return again but we would love to take the kids with us next time.
I would recomend to anyone, we had a great time as a couple and we know we would have a great time with the kids too."

OK but isolated...
"The appartments are situated a good walk from the main resort. Reps say it is a 10 minute walk, it is really 20 minutes with kids in tow. The pool area has plenty of sun loungers and space and the pool was cleaned daily. The bar serves the usual sort of food, quality compared quite well with others on the island. If you want a quiet pool-side holiday this might be for you, but as soon as you want to move off site (e.g. for cash machine or for an different eating place) you will need a car or will have to walk to town. Alternatively, catch the local bus to Ciutadela - market day is friday or saturday.
The appartments are OK, what you would expect for a 2*; better than some I have seen. They are cleaned regularly; Don't expect to be able to cook much though as the cooking facilities are very basic.
There is a small shop on site, and all staff speak English. Evening entertainment is, errrr, mixed. The Freddie Mercury tribute act is a crime against humanity; the rest seemed to keep the kids amused well enough.
Take time to walk down the hill from the hotel to the small beach, and if you can take a peddallo up the cove towards the open sea.
In conclusion, would we go again? Yes, probably, but we would make sure we had a car for at least some of the time"

The Return Trip
"After our enjoyable holiday here last year we returned again this year for the last week in June& first week in July.
Obviously we knew what we were getting after last year.
The Aparments again were well equiped, clean and on this occasion we were lucky enough to get an Apartment out of view of the pool and right beside the track to the Beach, and as we are Beach animals that suited us down to the ground.
There was one major improvement this year as last year if you wanted a fan you had to hire one with a daily charge, this year all bedrooms had been fitted with a ceiling fan over the beds, which was a real surprise and a welcome one at that.
As to the Beach there was only 1 day out of the 14 where some Jellyfish had come into the bay, but even then only an Amber flag needed and people still swimming, in fact the kids with their nets took it upon themselves to clear all the Jellyfish out of the water. It would appear this problem only occurs when there is a on shore breeze.
The Cove Cafe still had the same staff who remembered us from last year and we normally had Lunch here. The only complaint I had about the Beach last year was the price of the Sunbeds and I would like to think it was something to do with my review last year as this year the price had been reduced from 22 euros to 18. Although the beds have all been moved forward on the Beach meaning a bit less room at front of Beach.
We also had the Acrobatsarrive on the Beach on 2 days, which are aleways enjoyable to watch and put on a good show for a few cents in the Hat once they have finished.
We had some nice neighbours in the next door apartment and after eating out each night we used to meet up either at Churchills or the Pirate Bar on the Beach to have a drink and discuss the day. The Pirate bar on the Beach is now open to 2 in the morning and has entertainment at 4 and 9 p.m. most days, this included Flamenco, a Pianist and Singer and even a Comedian.
It is a waste of time mentioning all the eating establishments as there are far to many and all have a good selection, but a couple to mention are the Chinese beside Churchills now doing a all you can eat buffet for 6.90 euros, the Snack Bar at the Beach (Treasure Island) and the Anchor just before you go into Los Delphines.
All in all we had an excellent holiday again and will proabley return again next year.
I have attached some pictures which hopefully will show people the surounding area and some of the places we visited."

fantastic holiday, great place
"where shall I start? what a great family holiday we had. a lovely set of apartments, which were very comfortable & clean. great bar area, freindly staff. fab pools, the kids pool is safe & brill - our 2 kids spent most of their holiday in it!! reception staff were lovely & very helpful. a convenient nice little supermarket on site. you can hire pushchairs. the holiday reps were really good, the kids club was great. would recommend to any family for a brill holiday. we didn't have 1 thing to grumble about from start to finish. there isn't a great deal to cala'n blanes but every evening we walked into the neighbouring town of cala'n forcat, which took 15-20mins, where there is a nice choice of shops, restaurants, bars etc & so much to do for the kids. it is lovely walk aswell."

Kids kids and more kids
"If you want a low priced family holiday this is the place for you. If you want peace and quiet stay away from here.If you want A lively holiday with plenty of activity Vista Blanes Appartments will suit you down to the ground, theres plenty to do without leaving the complex. The food in the bar is good value, but if you like to cook the kitchens are very basic, two rings and a microwave.
The swimming pool is excelent with plenty of room. The staff are very frendly and the bar prices are not too bad eg 2.20 euros for a pint.
There is a small beach 5 mins away but is does get crowded."

A good value-for-money holiday complex
"We stayed at the Vista Blanes apartments last October and had a very enjoyable holiday. Located close to the Cala'n Blanes beach and only a shortish walk away from the far more brash resort of Cala'n Forcat, the Vista Blanes complex is officially rated 2 star which is probably about right in my opinion. The complex is well-maintained - a problem with our bathroom light switch was fixed within an hour of us reporting it - and public areas were clean. There is a small shop on-site providing basic groceries and although the large swimming pool is unheated there is plenty of space around it with lots of loungers provided.
The living/kitchen area of the apartments is fairly compact and basic but everything was clean and all the utensils you need for a self-catering holiday are provided. Cooking facilities are a bit limited as you only get a 2-ring electric hob and a small microwave oven but then who wants to cook much on holiday anyway. The fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster were all new and an iron and ironing board were also provided. The bedroom was a good size and contained a safe which you can use for about â¬2 a day. All the one-bedroom apartments have a balcony big enough for a couple of people to sit out on comfortably and the two-bedroom apartments had two balconies. While we were staying there, towels were changed every couple of days and linen was changed every 4 days.
Vista Blanes is not a quiet complex, especially if your apartment happens to face in towards the busy pool and restaurant areas, but families with younger children will certainly be happy with all the kids club activities for the under 12's. The only downers for us were that the sound system was a bit too loud and the evening entertainment wasn't really our cup of tea. However, one man's meat is another man's poison as they say and we still had a very enjoyable time using Vista Blanes as a base to explore the rest of this lovely island."

"Planning our fourth trip to Vista Blanes Apartments this year. Our holidays are all about our 9 year old daughter having fun and this is perfect. These safe and spacious apartments aren't in the centre of shops or clubs but are a pleasant 20 minute stroll from the hub of Cala n Forcat. The beautiful beach is less than five minutes away and is perfect for families. It's very small and only really serves these apartments and the hotel nearby so it doesn't get packed. You can always see where the kids are. The apartments have great little shows at night and and if you don't want to walk you can eat, drink and relax at the small bar and restaurant by the pool. We love everything about Vista Blanes and would really like to keep it a secret. SSSHHHH!"

nice and quiet with a few buts
"Been here before so i thought i new what to expect basic but clean apartments rooms now could do with a new paint job as a little dim and the doors slamming and moving of furniture is very very loud, no entertainment or sat BBQ on offer either only about 30 people on site so it could have been even louder the reception staff pleasant and helpful cold pool when you first dip your toe in but its refreshing once your totally in (we went 1 Oct 13 still nice and hot.) beach only 5 minutes away down small hill. can just manage to get a spot away from sunbeds and bar expensive on beach be careful when going in sea its quite rocky just as you go in water
however nothing much has opened this year the Thompson rep told us the main shopping area had closed down in 2012 as had the nearest pub Churchill's and Chinese restaurant so having my disabled mum with me it was near impossible for her to leave the complex without going in a taxi into Cala Forcat at a cost of 7 euro each way the paths outside are impossible to walk on so use the road l know its not the fault of the apartments but put a dampener on the whole of the holiday(( i loved this place first time around but there's not a lot of choice now and I'm not sure we'll return ))loved Frankie's bar last time but now they have two hours of bingo every night not our cup of tea. Fantastic holiday very recommended
"This was are first time to vista Blanes and first real family holiday out of UK we loved it 8 of us went 2 adults and 6 children of all different ages and not one of us had any complaints the staff are lovely and the whole place is spotless nothing is to much trouble the shopping place is about 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes walk to the bus stop and 1 euro for the bus journey. We will definitely be returning its just perfect the beach is 2 minutes walk and beautiful everything you need. The food on site is very good value for money and lots of it you will not walk away hungry and the entertainment and waiting staff are very friendly and again nothing to much trouble. The pool is cleaned almost every night it's cold when you first get in but it takes seconds to get used to it and then it does the job and cools you down. Thanks vista Blanes for the perfect holiday we will see you again soon "
