"Only moans about this hotel were the poor beds around pool.Very hard and no adjustment at all.Found music round pool also quite annoying but i am 64 years old.Otherwise a very nice place in a nice location providing you don,t mind the hill.Cala Galdana is a beautiful place and this was my fifth visit. Will be going back."

"Just arrived back from our week stay at the Anabel, been home 10 mins, and i have to say im gutted, we had a fantastic stay here at the Anabel. We stayed half board the food was good and plenty of choice, the staff were friendly and very helpful. The anabel was very clean and there was always cleaners around the hotel keeping on top of the gardens and the rooms. There was entertainment everynight at the Anabel which was great. The hill that everyone talks about was not bad at all, i didnt struggle with it one bit, the beach is a short walk away and we visited this a few times during our stay, i found this very beautiful, and relaxing. If you like you could explore the caves nearby and go for walks through the pine trees and discover other hidden coves with little beaches. The resort itself was very quiet and the bar and shop owners very friendly, we ventured down to the shops daily, the only downside was that with everything selling in euros i did find alot of produce a little expensive. So overall i had a fantastic time, the weather wasnt too good the fist few days but did pick up towards the end of the holiday and was very hot, but the locals did say they hadnt seen rain for the last 4 months so all is forgiven lol."

Not our cup of tea
"Just got back after 10 days at the Annabel. Stayed in a 1 bed apartment with my husband & 9 year old son. It was clean, tidy but cheaply furnished. The pullout bed my son slept on in the lounge was fine for him but would not take the weight of an adult or teenager. Maid service was very good & regular. Staff in general were helpful & polite. Only ate in the restaurant once, it was ok, not a great choice but was fine if you want cheap & cheerful. I have read other reviews saying the bar was very expensive, we found it wasn't & was about the same as other bars in the resort. The pool was great for kids but was spoilt by the lack of umberellas. It did'nt help when selfish Brits left towels on sunbeds & 'claimed' their umberellas as soon as the pool opened at 9am & then disappeared off to breakfast or for an extra hours sleep. These apartments are great for young families but were not really our cup of tea. There were times when I was really ashamed to be a Brit when I watched the selfish behaviour around the pool. The apartments are also up a hill which is'nt so bad when walking up at night but during the heat of the day it was no fun at all which meant we only went to the beach on 1 occassion. Would we stay here again, no. Would we visit Cala Galdana again, possibly. "

Great value for money
"If you are looking for value for money this is the place to go. If you want:- No kids Flat ground High quality accommodation High quality food Quality entertainment. Then donât bother We paid £600 for two adults for a week on a Bed breakfast and evening meal basis and I went with the thought of treating it as a B&B but only ate out twice as the evening food was perfectly acceptable. The accommodation was clean, yes we had some ants, tiny things, at one stage, so I bought a spay and they were gone for the rest of the holiday. The room was only cleaned and linen changed twice but thatâs what it says they do, and was furnished to normal standards and had air conditioning. A decent pool, lots of families, sun beds were of a basic type. Drink in the hotel on the expensive side. Did not bother with the entertainment but all reports were that it was good for the kids. Staff were pleasant. All food was of buffet style and whilst I would not describe as piping hot, it was hot enough and always plenty of it. Breakfast covered all the normal choices, evening meal had 3 choices and was well cooked with chips every day if you wanted. We liked the Sa Luna halfway down the hill towards the town, quality drinks and food and the owner, Pierre or Peter in English as he said, very attentive and interesting. However, we were told all of the places were good and itâs just depends on the sort of place you like "

"Just returned from this hotel the staff and the hotel were excellent . Very clean and anything that was asked for was dealt with straight away. I had ants vising my room and as soon as I reported this someone came straight away and dealt with it.This a first choice hotel and the reps they have based at this hotel are first class. The childrens clubs reps were on site all day and you can leave your children for each of the sessions they hold for at least five days out of seven with complete piece of mind they are first class girls and gave my grandsons an excellent time with the activities they had. If you go self catering there a few resturants to visit along the front but the one we visited 5 out of7 days was the DELIT half way up the hill first class food and lots of it set menus 3 coures from 9.50 euros. Manuel the waiter looked after everyone should really try this "

"went for 1 week with my fiancee, 9yr old girl and 13 mnth little boy. very clean place and very nice surroundings too food was basic but good choice always felt we'd eaten enough anyway ! the room was clean and pretty spacious.i would reccomend half board though as the resort is very expansive especially with the euro o pound not very good. you'll be paying around £3.00 a pint. they were charging 2 euro for glass of wine and you can buy the same bottle for just over 2 euro from supermarket down the road !! overall i would stay there again but would prefer a little more facilities within the hotel. . . .but yes i would reccomend the anabel"

"Wow wow wow, we have just arrived back from the confortel annabel this afternoon and are genuinly upset to of left. The most friendliest staff and reps are on hand morning noon and night to ensure we had a fantastic holiday. We stayed at the annabel for a week and wished we had booked for 2 weeks instead. Their was us with our 11 month old and some friends with a 1 yr old and a 9 year old and none of the children got bored at any time. The reps were great at night with the childrens disco (My husband really enjoyed the chi chi wa song and is driving me potty still singing it now ha ha) getting everyone who wanted to get up, up but didn't force anyone if they didn't want to. The pool haad different segments for different depths so was great for our little ones to have a spish splash without us worrying that they could venture down to the deep end in a blink of an eye. The annabel is the cleanest of hotels with maids and gerdeners constantly maintaing the hotel to a very high standard, the rooms were very clean and had everythink we needed to have a relaxing holiday. My friend went to reception to ask for some extra towels and by the time she got back to her room which was a 2 minute walk the maid was waiting to hand them over. My biggest fear in life is cockroaches and every time i go away i scout the floor for them but i can honestly say i didn't see ANY (this being a first on a holiday), not just in the hotel but down in the resort to. There are some ants but with a quick spray around your door they soon scarpered. We did see a couple of dung beatles to which i thought were fascinating to watch and actually quite cute coming from a bug hater. The "Hill" which we were dreading wasn't actually that bad, especially when Habbi and Miguel and the rest of the fantastic staff at the family bar at the top of the hill were ready with a nice cold drink and a friendly smile. The only and i mean ONLY down side to our jollies was that the bar was very over priced charging 11 euros for a bottle of plonk which costs 2 euros at the little shop on the hill. soft drinks were 2 euros which was mainly ice but the service was lovely at all times. Hope this helps to anyone looking for a relaxing family holiday with nice families. Well off now to book into the Annabel for next year, Adios Amigos xxxx"

"This was the best holiday we have ever been on. We booked the holiday 5 days before we were due to travel.I was looking for a miracle at just £250 per person 2 adults and 1 child aged 7. I wanted Half Board, kids club, evening entertainment, transfers to hotel meals on plane, sun, sea, beach. The tour operator gave me all i asked for however we would be allocated on arrival she did state that the hotel would be a First choice or Thomsons hotel and we would have a great holiday. I was scared!!!!. However when we approached this beautiful pretty resort of Cala Galdana i thought jackpot. When we arrived at the Confortel Anabel at the top of a steep hill i looked at it and smiled it looked clean and nice, however most of the hotels we stopped at when dropping off other holidaymakers were very desirable. We checked in and the staff were friendly we had a beautiful room with a large balcony that overlooked the swimming pool and the evening entertainment. We went downstairs for our evening meal and the selection was fabulous the food was hot and the staff once again were friendly. There was spanish and english food avaliable, and yes the obvious chips were on show daily. We didnt have to pay for our drinks at the time of having our meal as this could be added on a tab until our weeks holiday had finished. The kids club was fantastic my son made lots of friends. The disco and entertainment for the children were great. They were encouraged to go on to the stage and dance or sing or play games they were thoroughly entertained. The magician was great fun and entertained the children including the parrot show. Only downfall was the magician asking to purchase his magic tricks which i guess put pressure on parents. It was good for parents to dance and sing along with the children which encouraged real famliy entertainment. The flamenco dancers were excellent my partner and i watched this from our balcony. The children were entertained by first choice holiday reps during the evening (which gave parents a break)they provided face painting, videos, games and received a holiday pack with a sun hat pens, crayons, pictures, word search. At the end of the holiday they were presented with a certificate which my son was very proud of. The food was excellent a great selection for breakfast and an appertising selection for dinner. The desserts were nice could have a bit more selection however thats just me been fussy. The rooms were cleaned regulary and towels changed. Great power shower to get all that sand off. There was arcade games for the adults as well as the children. A great bar area however drinks were a bit pricey. However if you walk down the hill about 100 yards there was a shop that sold alcohol at very good prices. Although we spent some mornings by the pool at the hotel we did venture to the beach everyday. One day we decided to explore and found a rough earthly track we followed the wooden arrows that we came to. We then came to the infamous 256 steps ( i think, it could have been more) climbed down and came to an absolutley spectacular beach. There were alot of spanish people there they were obviously getting away from the english crowds on the popular main beach. We stayed there all day once again there was lots for the children to do. We ate a selection of squid, sea bass, and drank rose wine at this beautiful restaurant (cant remember the name of it)it was in the centre of the resort. Once again entertainment for the children was encouraged singing dancing colouring.Every restaurant had a play area for children. All nightlife finished by 11pm which was perfect There is a reasonable selection of shops and a tapas bar which was great for lunch. Lots of friendly people great families. Nearly forgot the weather was fantastic we booked it at the end of august 07 and the temperature was 27 degrees most days then went up to 30 degrees we never experienced no rain or cloud. By far the best holiday we have ever been on."

Confortel Anabel Aparthotel
"Facts: 2 Adults and 2 children. Boy aged 10 and girl aged 9. 2 weeks Half Board. First time to Menorca, Cala Galdana. Arrived after 21:00 hours to reception, staff efficient, leaflets and info given simple and basic but to the point. Food ready for us as they expected us. Room/Accomodation:We were allocated room 218 on the second floor. If you have mobility problems take it slow as there are a series of 6/7 steps at intervalls so bare this in mind when you have cases. Opening the door we were greeted by a typical self catering 1 bedroomed, kitchenette, bathroom and balcony layout. First impression was that it was spotlessly clean throughout. Food: Well presented, simple and basic but well done and we had no complaints(value for money). Staff quickly attend and clean tables as required. Bar: Beer 3.5â¬, soft drink 2â¬, spirits 5â¬. This is were the Hotel let itself down very, very expensive so we did not buy at the bar. Cleaners: In very regularly and towels regularly changed. Pool spotless and Lifeguard on allday, this lifeguard is strict about safety which pleased us, and did not tolerate tom foolery by older children. Kids Clubs excellent, but thats down to the reps excellent work Dizzy Danni, Hyper Haley and Loopey Lianne. Facilities at the Hotel are simple and in this resort this is important as there is little elsewise, but it is a beautiful cove were you sit quitely with your family and fish if you wish. Evening entertainment is what you would expect and on alternate evenings. Whilst there we had Puppet Mania, Queen Tribute, 70's night as an example. Kids mini disco is at 20:30 - 21:00 and the children enjoy it. There is a PJ Club from 21:00 - 23:00. Beach is beautiful but sunbeds will cost you. Small selection of shops and cafe/bars. Supermarkets are limited and please, please this advice is important, if you are going self catering everything IS VERY EXPENSIVE even allowing for the ⬠being strong to the £. For example a sliced loaf was 3.68â¬, 5litre water 1.5â¬. Eating out is expensive so I would advise upgrade to Half Board as the restaurants charge top wack ie. diddy salad 5.95â¬, paella 17â¬, omlette 5â¬, ham and cheese baguette 4.25⬠this is a snapshot but its important to realise it all mounts up so we were saved this cost. Car hire we hired from Holiday Auto/Owner Cars 4 days 110â¬. The Lidl supermarket is in Cuitedella on the Industrial Estate, OK prices there 5litre water 55cents, loaf 1â¬. Buses from Cala Galdana cost 1.80⬠to Ferriries, and from Ferreries to Cuitedella 2.2⬠each. Our family enjoyed ourselves and were made very welcome by staff and treated with smiles and friendly attitude. We decided 2 weeks was a little too long if we go again and would go 10days max. Excellent value for what we paid as a last minute deal. The only real nit picky thing we would say if pushed was that furniture coverings were tired, zips broken on covers, and a wooden slat missing on sofa bed, but thats it. It was also obvious to us that times are hard for Menorcans as tourist numbers are down but costs are high and sadly this has shot themselves in the foot. "

"We embarked on our first foreign holiday with our young family, two boys aged 4 and 3. We weren't too sure what to expect having read the reviews posted but can catergorically state, that the holiday was great. Firstly we had a slight delay on our flight and arrived after the restuarant had closed. The staff at Reception were welcoming and said that some food would be made available to us. The bar/pool area was in full swing with the nightly evening entertainment on. The pool area was packed with young families, great we thought. We then found our room, which had a poolside view and large balcony. The air conditioning had been left on so the room was too cold!!!The room was adequately stocked, with a fully functional kitchen, including, microwave, toaster and fridge. Our boys had a seperate bedroom, two single beds that we pushed together for them to add to the experience. The entertainment finsished about 11:30pm and then the pool area was quiet, great given that our boys would be up at 7am anyway! Breakfast was served between 830-1030 and offered everything that you could ever want to eat. There was a choice of cereals for kids, toast, meats, and of course the full english! The pool was then again filled with all the parents whilst children ran off to the kids clubs which are run by the fantastic First Choice reps. The hotels crazy entertainer then embarked on getting the adults to play games, she was persistent and just wanted to have a great time. Evening food was varied and cooked to a good standard, with the bar staff doubling up as waiters taking you to a table. The area itself was set on top of steep hill, but I managed to push a double buggy up the hill with relative ease, great work out each day! The beach was great, with warm mediteranean waters and soft white sand. I would recommend the beach. Our kids though just loved sitting about the pool, playing in the childrens area with their water guns and inflatables. Just do what we and others did. Went to the Supermarket over the road and stocked up on sweets and drinks as the cost at the pool side bar was more expensive. Have booked up again to go this year as loved it so much!"

"STAY AWAY!!! firstly with 2 young children age 4 & 6 having to deal with a apartment full of ants and flies (petrified) complaint after complaint nothing was done! had to sit through irish dancing 3 times as the entertainment advertised was not what was on show. maids only left clean towels once...cala galdana is a rip off over priced food , drinks , staff NOT HELPFUL when offered the courtesy room at the end of our nightmare holiday my 6yr old daughter walked in to the apartment only to slip and hit her head caused by the wet floor that the cleaning staff were supposed to clean between each visit... cala galdana is a beautiful place if somewhat quiet not enough for children only the beach and a few parks scattered next to restaurants... i would definately not recommend this hotel or resort for people looking for family fun and cheap dining...VERY POOR!!! (9 EUROS FOR EGG SAUSAGE & CHIPS PFFFFFFFF!!!) ONCE AGAIN STAY AWAY...."
