"Stayed in this hotel for 3 weeks in September with Saga.It is only 3 star and basic but what a lovely friendly hotel,it was clean and the rooms were basic but good, also the hot and sunny balcony,we payed for a sea view. The dining room was a bit like a canteen but the food on the whole was not bad and plentiful the dining room staff were lovely. We were A.I. and the drinks were quite good.We had gorgeous weather and sat in the outside Blue bar as it was very hot it is a lovely bar and the staff once again were lovely,in fact right from the manageress through to the chambermaids all very helpful and just nothing too much trouble for them. We had a fiesta on with the beautiful horses parading in the village awesome. The beach is a drag to get to but worth it,sea was warm.there are reasonably priced restaurants by the beach also and some lovely if not strenuous walks in the country.lovely people lovely holiday relaxing. The acts at night had some good singers. Jackie Pye our rep from Saga was wonderful.!!!!!!!"

playa azul again
"We returned to this hotel as we had such a good holiday there last year. we enjoyed every thing about the hotel and the island, The hotel staff are fantastic, beautiful Rosa on reception Jorge at the bar ( my daughter quite likes him ) Isobel in the restaurant and Tito and Tien all busy seeing to everybody's needs. The island tours with Raphael Olives are a must, he knows every thing about Menorca and is so funny. the food is always cooked to perfection and such a wide choice to choose from. Every thing about the set up there works, a perfect location perfect staff and a beautiful island, we will return. don't pay transfer fees if booking package hotel 20 min away just 20 euros by taxi. Gavin Aitken and family."

Excellent hotel - recommended***
"Just spent an excellent week at the Playa Azul. Good variation of food (couldn't find the microwave mentioned in earlier reviews - but did not need one!!). Staff were very pleasant and helpful, rooms were very comfortable and spottlesly clean. My only complaint would be that coffee from the pool bar was served in polystyrene cups but considering that it was by the pool health and safety issues need to be addressed."

Excellent hotel with excellent location
"We stayed 1 week in playa azul and took the hotel as a last minute offer for around 350Eur/pp including flight. For the price we paid, the hotel offered much more! The room we were given was on the last floor with see view, and it was to best thing to have! The food during the evenings is tasty and good, with table wines, beers/ sodas available for free. The breakfast is standart continental/UK breakfast, and was good as well. The personel speaks english and is freandly, the room was cleaned every day very well. The rooms are new and shining. The pool area is new and clean, but we never used it since the beach is 5 minutes walk and is also extremaly nice. Bus stop is just near the hotel, the busses run to Mahon 7 times a day and cost 1.60 From Mahon you can take other buses to Cuitadella or other cities, however to see the best of the island I would recommend rent a car. We used Amigo rent a car for 40Eur/day inclusive all insurances and were quite happy with them. Overall we got much more then we paid for and we are really happy with Hotel Playa Azul."

excellent chill-out relaxing week
"just got back from a week at this fab hotel, from the moment we walked through the hotel reception till the day we left it was brilliant, the staff especially the resturant and bar staff were very freindly and attentive nothing was to much trouble, the food was first rate, the only blip was no entertainment except saturday night, could have done with some quiz or bingo etc other than the bar to keep you in the hotel, although there was other bars to visit with shows on, but i may be guessing that because it was newly refurbished entertainment may be on thier to do list? hope so because we're going back next june."

faultless newly refurbished hotel
"Just got back from Playa azul which has been taken over by Seth Hotels and completely refurbished. Hotel high standard from pool, restaurant to rooms. Good selection of food for brecki, lunch and evening meal. Very quiet while we were there as it had just reopened but had a good time on the all inclusive. Staff very friendly and everything kept really clean. Anyone wanting a quiet hotel (at the moment) with a beautiful view of the bay then this is the hotel, go before more people find out about this little gem. To get to the beach is either down a steep flight of steps OK going down but a tow coming back up or down a winding road which again is OK going down but still tiring coming back, there should be a train to use for the beach but wasnt running whilst we were there. The resort was just starting to come alive as we left . there are a few bars and restaurants (we didnt use these as we were all inc) and just outside the hotel a regular bus into Mahon â¬1.60 where you can shop, markets on Tues & Sat and get on a bus to visit other places on the island. For smokers there are 2 ciggi machines in 2 of the bars in Cala n Porter, to buy in bulk you have to go to Mahon to the tabacco shops 200 cigs from â¬30 euros upwards depending on brand (B&H â¬35) Finally from Mahon Airport to Playa Azul in a Taxi is approx â¬20."

Newly Refurbished Great Hotel
"Stayed at PlayaAzul 20 - 30 May 2010 10 nights all inclusive. Beautiful Hotel, spotless, good food and good selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner, friendly staff. Clean and lovely swimming pool. As it has been completely refurbished the reviews from people staying in 2009 and previous are now no longer true for this hotel. We couldnt fault it. As it had just re-opened whilst we were there there were very few people in the hotel and it felt like we had the place to ourselves on many occasions. (Go now before it is advertised in brochures) We had a sea view room and the view was beautiful across the bay of Cala n porter. A Bus to Mahon runs regular from outside the hotel, Market days Tues and Sat. for smokers there are 2 cigi machines in Cala n porter in the bars, we went into Mahon to buy in bulk and cigs are from â¬30 upwards depending on the brand (B&H â¬35) Bus Cala n Porter to Mahon â¬1.60 e.w Taxi from Mahon Airport to Calan n Porter â¬20 "

"Undoubtably the worst hotel we have stayed in over the last 30 years. The food that was supposed to be hot was cold and there was a queue for the microwave at each sitting. I have never had to heat my own food. We were there whilst re-furbishment was going on and dining room floor was vibrating. Management ignored complaints, reception was rude. We complained to the Consel insular who have now told me they have taken action. Travel Co. Fleetway refused any form of compensation."

Great beach, you get what you pay for with the hotel
"I can't complain about this hotel, we paid about £330pp HB for a week with Thomas Cook and it was fine. It was so cheap that we decided to have a night in another hotel in Ciutadella while we were there! The food is ok, nothing special but again I can't complain about the pice we paid. If you're looking for luxury get real, this is a clean and cheap hotel ideal for people on a budget. Its clean and basic but it is comfortable. We used it as a base, we went down to the beach early and travelled all over the island by bus only stopping in the hotel to eat, wash and sleep. The busses are fairly regular so you can descover the whole island for a few euros and the beach is superb, it really is one of the best beaches on the island. If you just want some sun and a cheap deal go for it as its such a lovely island..."
