terrible and to think it was this bad back in 1999
"This has to be the most awful hotel I had ever stayed in as described from others as terrible as the owner needs to stay away from holiday resort as she is not good for its future as I had found out complaints were made back in 1999 and it still seems to be the same have a look at the link http://www.irishtimes.com/news/couple-awarded-600-in-case-against-tour-operators-1.175993"

Lovely little hotel
"We stayed for a week in this lovely little hotel. It has less than 30 rooms and was quiet, clean and very relaxing. The pool area was lovely with never too many guests around it at one time. Quite a deep pool which meant it was always cool enough when the temperature outside was very hot 30 degrees+ . We found all the staff very helpful and liked the bar area with the courtyard garden. It was always welcoming at the end of the day to spend a short while talking to other guests and the owners. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was a ceiling fan but we would have liked air conditioning as it was very hot in Majorca the week we visited. Location wise it is about a 5 minute walk to a lovely beach and lots of bars and shops. Santa Ponsa itself is a pretty resort with trees at the back of the beach and some great walks to viewpoints around the bay. Normally we holiday in big all inclusive hotels but this one has definitely changed my mind. Where else can you choose your own mug at breakfast and use sun cream left by others and conveniently left pool side for your use? I would certainly recommend this hotel. It is exactly as described on the holiday websites no more and certainly no less."

avoid at all costs !
"We stayed at the hotel during the first week of July 2009. Upon arrival, we were told by the owner (who did not introduce herself) that we had to swap rooms for the last night of our stay! She was unable to qualify why, and referred us to the manaGER. When we managed to speak to the manager 2 days later, she told us the owner, whom we had spoken to, could have addressed this matter with us! Apparently, our specific room (which was very non-specific) had been booked and payed for a week before, so we would have to change to another room on the Friday night. We voiced our disgust, but were informed that the room was booked and pre-payed 12 months previously so there was no alternative. When I informed her that in 20 years of holidaying abroad 3 or 4 times a year I had never been told I had to swap rooms part way through my stay, I was informed that this practice was commonplace ! For the Hotel Miranda, it would appear that this practice is of no concern or issue. Not so for me! We were offered an early change of room so we did not lose our last full day, so opted to move on the Thursday. Our "new" room, we were informed, was usually more expensive as it had a fridge and (non - functioning) kitchenette. Our original room was surface rather than deep cleaned (dirty / mouldy sealant, rusty railings on the balcony etc) but this other room was like stepping back to the 70's in its decoration, and still appeared to have the orignal dirt. The door had peeled paintwork and the terrace was dirty and littered in cigarette ends. Clearly the management are not concerned with the hotel or its customers, so this hotel should be given a wide berth - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!"

"Worked in Santa Ponsa in 2007 and stayed at the Hotel Miranda for quite a number of weeks! In my opinion this is a rather small hotel but is very cosy and spotless! ideal for older couples due to the quiet peaceful atmosphere. Staff are very friendly as are the cleaners. Ideal for a relaxing holiday in Santa ponsa. has my vote ;-) Nice and Homely!"

"stayed for 4 days and was a bit worried after reading some reviews! Pleasantly surprised- the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and cleaned daily and the food was as good as any other 4 star hotels we have stayed in. The pool was a bit shady due to the large trees but we just crossed over the road and sat by the pool at another hotel! Not the miranda apartment pool but the hotel next door to it. There didn't seem to be any problem doing this and we had sun all day there. Great location a nice 10 min walk to the beach. All in all, excellent value for money. we booked with rooms.net and paid £135 for 2 of us half board for 4 nights- can't complain at that! would definately stay at Miranada again! p.s there was a hairdryer in the bathroom which wasn't mentioned and would have saved packing one!"

"I have just returned from 1 weeks stay in the hotel miranda and I have to say for a 1 star hotel this place is fab. The owner Linda is lovely, very accomodating. The hotel is clean and well maintained, rooms are basic but again clean. I have stayed in a lot worse for a lot more money. It is in a fab location near to town centre and beach but really quiet. I will definately return."

Excellent value for money!!
"Just back from a fantastic week at Hotel Miranda. After reading some reviews here I was a little worried, but need not have been. The hotel is AMAZING value for money for where it is situated. It's basic, but then what do you expect for the price?! It's clean, tidy and well maintained. My friends paid 4 times what I did for a hotel MILES away from the beach. I stayed in a single room, which had a double bed, a wardrobe, 2 night stands, a lamp, a fan, a mirror and dressing table. I also had a balcony, which meant I could open up the door at night and let air in, that combined with the fan meant I didn't feel the need for air conditioning. I'd say it's like a Spanish 'travelodge' or similar - basic but clean. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and the shower was VERY powerful. The rooms are cleaned every day, the towels are changed twice a week. The owner was really nice to me, I didn't find her lacking at all (although maybe a little spaced out and vague at times). The reception is not manned 24 hours but it's a small hotel - again, what do you expect?! The part time receptionist is slightly offhand and not very welcoming, other than that the staff are all really nice and friendly. The bar snacks are good too - the sausage baguette is to die for, you MUST try one. I didn't see or hear a dog throughout my stay. There were dogs in the neighbourhood, and occasionally I heard them bark, but that's not the fault of the hotel. It's in a very quiet location, I'd say it's more a single person or couples hotel, as there's not a lot for kids to do. The pool is big enough to do lengths in and was really quiet most days - no screaming kids and other people making noise - it was bliss!! As it is a small hotel you did sometimes hear noises from other rooms, people banging doors etc, but that happens wherever you stay, and it wasn't anything unbearable. Overall I was really impressed by Hotel Miranda and will definately be returning, with all my friends!"

"This has to be the most basic accommodation you are ever going to come across in a hotel. The week we spent there the bed linen was never changed. No tea making facilities in the 9 x 6 room. The staff were friendly and that is the only plus to this facility. It is the only reason I gave it a 3 rating. I booked this facility as a last resort and even as a last resort I would not avail of their facility again. Unfortunately it seems as Santa Ponsa is pricing itself out of the holiday market, the standard of their accommodations is falling, which is a pity as I have been a very frequent visitor to this lovely town over the years."

I have just returned from my holiday in ...
"I have just returned from my holiday in Santa Ponsa. Santa Ponsa is a fantastic place the beach, the bars and restaurants and the locals were all fantastic I would highly recommend the resort and its facilities. The Hotel Miranda on first sight was clean with lots of facilities but after you have got over the first impressions you spot the mould in the bathroom and that the sink was not clean, the toilet brush was disgusting. The beds on the other hand were very clean. if you left it to the cleaner (a little Spanish man) to make the beds the cover just seemed to be pulled over. The room was not moped for the entire week we were there, there was no ventilation in the bathroom not even an expelair. I threw my towels on the floor to be changed after day 3 when I got back they had been put on the balcony to dry when I complained we were told towels were changed twice weekly mine were changed on Saturday we had been there since Tuesday!!! A notice was then put up saying it was a 1 star hotel and towels would be changed twice weekly. The swimming pool is not suitable for very young children and has a very steep slope . On the whole the hotel has good amenities but is unloved or under staffed we only saw a Spanish lady at breakfast and her hubby cleaning and maintaining during our whole week. I thought there would be more laid on like a bbq or entertainment but nothing, we only saw Linda the owner briefly in the mornings and then there seemed an array of different people manning the desk or serving behind the bar."

"Just back, stayed there for one week and loved it! Linda the owner is lovely and makes you feel very welcome, the hotel is friendly and incredibly clean. Centrally located (the street behind the Golf Beach), and very quiet. I will certainly be visiting again! FANTASTIC VALUE!"

Under no circumstances stay here.
"i stayed in the hotel miranda for 1 week and i had seen someone on the reception for about 1 hour every day, although the facilities are basic THAT is expected for a 1 star hotel. The manager seemed to think that customer service was a thing of the past! one night before we went to santa ponsa for a few quiet drinks we decided to play music not loud music but medium volume, on arrival downstairs the next morning we were treated to the loudest most colourful language i have heard not from a customer but a hotel manager, she told us to turn the music down or leave the hotel, fair enough, the next morning we were awoken to screaming children and building works ok, fine. as we were heading out the door we were AGAIN told any more slip ups and we would be kicked out. all week we had been regularly disturbed and on various attempts to make peace with the manager linda, even buying her a bottle of wine she still either ignored us or had a very serious attitude. To add insult to injury on the last night we had a few drinks in the hotel, in the morning were were shocked to wait over 5 HOURS to check out and even then the manager made us clean all bottles from the room and take them to a bottle bank 1/2 mile away. We were never smiled at, talked to or happy with our accomodation the whole holiday. I am currently in the process of filing a strong complaint to the hotel. do not visit."
