worst hotel I have ever experienced
"We arrived at the hotel, went to the room eventually, the room had a cockroach on the approach and in the kitchen, the rooms were tiny and had electrical wiring hanging down from the ceiling, they were very basic and really depressing. I have stayed at many hotels and apartments and have never seen one in such a bad state, I was with my husband and two children, we asked if there were any other rooms available and were told that they were all the same anyway. we didn't even unpack we found another apartment up the road called Vista Club which was much cleaner and brighter. I would highly recommend that you avoid this hotel at all costs, if it was in England i would have advised the envirometal health and health and safety."

Very rude and unfriendly staff! Not a pleasant stay!
"On our arrival at the hotel we were greeted by very passive and unfriendly staff at reception and were then directed to a dirty room that still had bins full of the previous occupants rubbish and unmade beds. When we went back to reception to tell them about this firstly we were ignored for a few minutes and left standing there while they deliberately avoided seeing to us and then when they finally aknowledged us we were told to go away for a bit and they would see if they could get the room cleaned (no apology)!
As for the rest of our experience while there, the bar staff were equally as unpleasant as the reception staff and seemed to make a point of serving us last of all.
On a positive note, the room, once cleaned, was fairly pleasant with a good view from the balcony. The outdoor pool looked appealing but the weather was still too cold to venture in it, we did however used the indoor "heated" pool which turned out to be quite cold. Santa Ponsa was very nice and the hotel was in a good location with lots to do near by. We will not be returning to this hotel and in general our stay was the worst either of us have ever experienced!"

dont go there
"our flight from manchester to palama was about the best part of this 7 night break to santa ponsa..me and my girlfriend stayed at the jardin de playa for one week on a half board basis although i wouldnt
call it half board we only ate our breakfast. because the evening meals were disgusting i wouldnt even give that type of food to our dog and thats not being snobby.
the staff at the were very unhelpful and some of them were very roud on several occasions. when we checked in at the hotel we were given a card to open our room door we walked down to room 110 and open the door and the smell off muskey, damp bedding made me walk straight back out. i was really annoyed has we had paid for a sea veiw, i went
back to reception and asked to change rooms kindly they said i would have to wait so we did..they gave us room 027 after about 2 hours of constant mivering this room was much better and had very nice sea view rooms were abit shabby and needed updating but if your going self catering be warned take some bleach in your suitcase because kitchens were filfiy and needs washing down well before even thinking
of cooking. there is a maids room on every floor, i no this because i would go there when we needed clean towls and bedding the maid only came one our fifth day to change towls but all she left was a clean face towl and she came in at 6:30 am it was a good job i was well covered with a sheet ha ha be warned about going to this hotel in dont think id go to spain again anyway ill stick to turkey and greece were its nicer youve lost out jardin bye bye"

Excellent value for money
"Myself and my fiance booked this holiday in December. It was booked through Flyglobespan and we paid for flights and accommodation. We paid £160 each for the week which actually gave us seven nights. This was for everything, taxes and transfers (all of which were bang on time). Our flight was also from Edinburgh and the times were great. On arrival we checked in fine went to our room which was fine. The beds were the most comfortable I have had on holiday for a long time. They were very clean and I was extremely happy. I had a horrid holiday last year and paid a fortune for an all inclusive fortnight. We didnt get the sun on our balconies as because we were self catering we stayed in the apartment block which was separate from the actual hotel. We did, however, have a great sun trap outside the front door which done us fine. We just moved our seats outside and sat quite comfortably. It was reasonably windy at times and outside the front door was a sun trap. If you did have a balcony in the sun I would imagine it was quite windy and at this time of year can be chilly. We could have eaten in the restaurant had we wanted but we just ate out, for no reason at all other than we liked getting out to walk about. The restaurant looked nice and had a big bar inside too. The weather was absolutely fabulous. It sat in the 70s and 80s on a couple of days. Our room was cleaned four times and the maids were very nice. We had absolutely no problems at all with anything with this hotel and would return. The bathrooms were especially nice. You did not have to pay for the telly either although all you got was news channels but who goes on holiday to watch the tv!! The heated indoor pool was fine and we used that too. Obviously the outdoor pool was too cold but looked nice. We had a couple of resident mallard ducks which woke us up sometimes! Great holiday, great hotel, and Santa Ponsa is a lovely place. The staff also were polite and friently. We will definitely return."

Don't stay here
"My husband booked this trip as a last minute getaway. We both wish he hadn't. There is nothing positive that can be said about this hotel other than we did have a beautiful view from our balcony.
On arrival we were treated as an inconvenience by the otherwise engaged receptionist. It really did seem a chore for her to check us in, and she was unable to provide us with any information regarding facilities at the hotel or local area.
The common areas of the hotel were all a bit sad and depressed. But this was nothing compared to the dilapidated room which was dull and grimey. The soft furnishings had all sorts of unsavoury stains, and the furniture in the bedroom had profanities written on it. I could go on and on but the bottom line would remain the same.....
Don't waste your time or money going to this hotel."

Not Impressed - at all!!
"After having to wait three hours for our room to be allocated we were given a room that was dirty, grimey and slimey. Yes we had a sea view, room 28, but the gale coming from the sea meant we couldn't sit on the balcony, we couldn't sit inside either because the seats and settee was covered in old sun tan lotion and oil - we had to put towels down first. The dead cockroack stayed in the room with us for 5 days, there was another outside which stayed for 3 days. The fridge leaked and was also covered in greasy slimey lotion as was the kitchen cupboard doors and the utensils. The food was only luke warm and the deep fried eggs were something else!
We did get moved to another hotel, better but not what we had booked. We had booked the Punta Del Mar, which when we visited seemed 100% better. Direct Holidays only told us 5 days before leaving Scotland that the Punta Del Mar had been overbooked. Not impressed. I could go on and on, but I know we were not the only couple to be in the same situation."

Was no impressed at all
"Well to start off we were changed hotels because they over booked us, we did book punta del Mar which looks to be a fab hotel, but we were put in Jardin de Playa. When we got there late saturday night there was food left out for us in our room, we got a room where u had to stand up to get any view , we could heard the music from the sqaure ALL NIGHT long & we could hear every bus that was going up the road & every bus that pulled into the apartment. The door in the apartment did not lock, we had our 2 year old son with us who could reach up & open the door so we had to put the cot up against the door so he could not get out.... The room was cleaned every 3rd day but the sheets were never changed, we got new towels but not sheets the floors were never swept or cleaned... the balconys are not up high enough i was afraid of my life to leave any chairs beside the balcony, as my 2 year old could have easly sat on the chair & went over the balcony.. we got half board because of the change of hotel, & i tell you the food was horrible.. milk was warm with your ceral was just horrible, we only had breakfast there once went out after that.. I would not reccomment this hotel is anyone with kids, & we would defintely not be booking this hotel again.
We stayed there 16th sept 2006 for 1 week..."

Was just okay
"We stayed at the hotel on the 5th-12th of september. On arrival we were greated by a very friendly lady who explained that because we arrived late, that food would not be provided (we were half board and we'd paid for it) although A/I guests still had access to the buffet until 11ish-pm, they could have at least allowed us to grab a quick bite especially so because we had two kids with us. she showed us the way to our rooms and on our journey down we slipped on the ramp that allows pushchair and wheelchair access. Tiles we warm and very slippery if you were wearing flip flops! Rooms were very basic but clean. Our room was cleaned nearly every day but our sheets were not. Plenty of towels were provided in the bathrooms and were of good quality.
This hotel no matter your travel agent states do not have any double beded rooms so the kids had the bedroom and my husband had to sleep on the sofa whilst i slept on a campbed type thing!
One problem we discovered was that we could not lock our door from the inside althought u had to have a key to access the room from the outside. We pushed chairs under the handle but our two yr old son still decided to go for an early morning stroll while we were all sleeping, luckily im a light sleeper and realised the door was open and found him on the top floor. If he had walked downstairs he would have been near the deep end of the pool and i dread to think what could have happened..
The food available on a half board basis was fantastic although i have never seen bacon like it!! more fat than meat!!
The kitchen was basic and equiped with a fridge, gas cooker and a whistle kettle. It was quite cheap to hire a toaster and a electric kettle. Dont bother hiring the sea scooter because they are crap, you would have moved quicker on a lilo. The beach near the hotel i personally think was great for kids to go rock pool fishing etc and i would advise to wear flipflops to walk into the sea, the sea to be honest was warmer than the pool and very safe. Red marker bouys were in place near some of the rocks because alot of people we stung by sea urchins (i think thats how you spell it) but all in all the little cove was safe for young kids. i wouldn't advise for you to walk your granny down there though simply because of the uneven rocks. One little cove we found was beautiful and we watched the sun set from there, if you walk down to the cove at the end of the pool an turn slightly right and follow the path you will find a small white sandy beach which is safe and clean.
The music square was only minutes away up a few steps and fab free entertainment was provided every night must recommend the abba night on a tuesday. shops contained the usual souvenirs and were reasonably priced. The Crown pub on the square was the cheapest and it was like sitting in your local!!! loads of irish and scotiish people were here too and great fun!
Two restaurants we can recommend it the miami near the square and the chinese restaurant nxt door, we had fab meals and would have gone there every nite if possible!!!
Santa ponsa beach was twenty minute walk and had a great beach!!!
ANY WAY MUST GO AND FINISH MY HOLIDAY WASHING!!!
I wouldnt go to this hotel again but santa ponsa itself was fab!!! The jardin's sisters hotel the Punto Del Mar was much better and to be honest i wished we booked to stay there.

super hotel, poor entertainment
"arrived at 6am and was surprised at how polite and courteous the staff were. The room was very spacious and had everything we could possibly have needed, small kitchen area, dining area with 2 fold away beds, seperate bedroom with 2 beds and balcony overlooking pool and play area. The hotel was kept very clean and tidy at all times, with the room itself being cleaned nearly every day. The restaurant served nice buffet meals from early evening and the bar served all day til 12pm. The pool area was great for the child, well supervised at all times and had pool table etc to keep him entertained when he got fed up in the water. At the end of the pool theres a small beach onto the sea which really isnt much to shout about, but walk along 200 yards to the right and you'll find a great wee spot where the locals all hide away !! Its like a private beach club with bar, sun loungers, steps to the sea, diving board etc. - a great wee spot and anyone staying at the hotel can go there. Entertainment was the only poor thing about the place, unless you fancy playing bingo in German ! But the Square across the road provided excellent bands nightly with a childrens disco before each performance at 8pm. Staff were excellent, could not fault them. Will definitely return. July 2011 - Group Holiday
"A very large group of family went on holiday in July. The hotel was very nice. Rooms were fine apart from kitchen area which was a bit pokey. We had heard of apartments being robbed which was a concern. On the second night it happened! One of our apartments was ransacked. Nothing taken so it seems like they were only looking for money. A family with three children, one baby, coming home to that. Not good. There was no breakin which was a bit unsettling. As we had approx. 16 apartments you can imagine how many of us there were. We all voiced our concerns at reception, loudly! Thankfully it didn't happen again but did leave a sour taste. One big issue I had was with the pool bar. Very handy and food was fab but it closed before four o'clock each day. This was a bug minus because most days we wouldn't leave the pool til near seven. I don't understand that as they would have made a killing if they'd kept it open until even six???? No entertainment in the hotel so you always had to go out. The beach is a bit of a distance but wouldn't stop me coming back here. Overall though, a very enjoyable holiday. Centre of Santa Ponsa was a nice stroll away or two minutes in a taxi if you wish, â¬5.00. Would definately return."

Awful from beginning to end!
"We were moved to this hotel by Thomas Cook as our original hotel Hesperia had apparently over booked by 21 rooms! However we were only informed of this 15 hours before our flight! On opening the room door (051) we were met by a stale smell, ants on the balcony, dirty kitchen area (if you can call it a kitchen area), holes in the wall, a balcony door which did not lock and air con which did not work. When we complained to the Receptionist (with limited English) we were told air con was fine and that we had to stay there! Eventually moved to room 010 after much complaining to the Rep. Room was slightly bigger, on the bottom floor - I am not keen on being on the bottom floor of a hotel due to the risk of being broken into, however other travellers in the same position as us were broken into on the 5th floor (!!!!) What swung it for us was having air con which remotely worked.
We were met on return to our room one night to a river in the corridor coming from a leak in the ceiling, when we reported this nobody did anything....until 2 hours later and the ceiling fell through! Only then, they lay down a sheet and it was like this for another 2 days.
Room was cleaned only once during 7 nights - this was only because we complained about not having any cllean towels!
Food is atrocious, dining room is grubby, Manager is rude, location is at the top of a mountain behind the Irish Square. Not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.
Never again, it is rated the same as the Hesperia, but dont be fooled - there is a WORLD of difference between the two. This was the only hotel in the whole of Santa Ponsa that had at least 21 rooms available at short notice - this says it all!
