charming small hotel
"We have just returned from a very pleasant 4 night stay at the Son Sant Jordi in Pollenca. This is a charming small hotel right in the centre of Pollenca, which we think is the nicest town on the island - very traditional and unspoilt. If you're looking for pazzazz and night life don't go to Pollenca! We however, are 2 middle aged codgers who just want to chill and eat good food - Il Giardino and C'an Costa are extremely good eateries, both less than a 5 minute flat stroll from the hotel. ( We didn't eat in the hotel as we quite like a change of scenery in the evening) What we liked about the hotel - traditional small town house with many original features. Lovely rooms. Spotlessly clean.Pretty garden. Great location. Good air con. and big beds.Fresh towels daily, complimentary sparkling wine and nibbles a nice touch. You feel far from the madding crowd. Do not stay here if you're the package deal all inclusive sort of holidaymaker looking for a buzzy pool and bar. Suggestions for improvement - the room lighting is a bit dark - had trouble reading book in bed! Very firm mattress. Things to do Spend a day on the lovely beach at Formentor - accessible by boat or car. BEWARE jellyfish with nasty nettle like stings - you won't see them unless you have a mask and snorkel. Not just at Formentor - all over the island. Tour the north and west of the island - Lluc Deia the mountains, and the coast beyond. Spend a day in Palma. Train from Soller to Palma. This was our 10th visit to Mallorca and it won't be our last!"

"We booked this hotel from their website and the rooms depicted appear FAR larger than they are. Having said that the room was very pleasant and tastefully decorated. We arrived on Monday when the restaurant is closed and after a few teething problems (no phone in room as shown, no cold drinks available to buy) enjoyed our stay. The staff are very helpful and the area pretty and only a short walk to two squares full of bars & restaurants. The pool is gorgeous and grounds well kept. Overall a very pleasant stay but not cheap for what it was."

Very noisy and check your bill carefully
"The hotel was reasonably comfortable for a four star but not on a par with many other four star hotels I have stayed in on the island. Breakfast was very average, a poor selection of fresh fruit, little cereal and a minimal choice of cooked food. The location is central but traffic noise in the evening made sleep difficult. When checking out you are offered discount if you pay in cash. This we did but we were overcharged by 95 Euros and the money was not refunded, so I would advise anyone to check their bill carefully and not to pay in cash."

Wonderful littel hotel and graet restaurant
"A small oasis of calm just above the bustle of the main centre of the medieaval town of Pollenca and only 10 mins drive from the Port.. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the garden and pool are lovely. Parking and finding your way round the tiny cobbled streets is a bit of a challenge but the town is too small to ever park to far away. The restaurant and bar though separately run are integral and you are assured a fantastic meal and warm welcome fom the English proprietor Harvey. Brilliant wine list and honest advice on what to sample. A nice touch to find a bottle of bubbly (cava) in our room on the second day of our stay from the owner. A delight all in all."

Unspoilt and Perfect location
"We have just returned from Mallorca where we stayed in the Hotel Son Sant Jordi. We arrived by hire car through the narrow streets of Pollensa. The sun was shining and it was so warm. (stark contrast from a cold, wet and windy morning at Newcastle airport) The Hotel was easy to find and is set in a small square, where locals meet for coffee. It was clear that it was an authentic old building that had been sympathetically restored. There were beamed ceiling everywhere, with the modern addition of a lift. We stayed in El Puig, room 6, on the top floor. It was a beautiful breathtaking room. Rustic marble floors, shuttered windows, beautiful antique mirrors and furniture and in the middle of all this, the most romantic 4 poster bed with billowing fine white cotton drapes. Perfect. The Bathroom had all mod cons (except the spa bath was broken) but even this couldn't take away the wonderful facilities there were on offer. Out back there are beautiful gardens with a sauna and small swimming pool. The breakfasts were buffet style and there was a good selection of hot and cold items. At this time of year some of the restaurants are closed and we chose to eat in the Hotel restaurant on two nights. The food was good quality and selection and at very affordable prices. On our last day, we arrived back in our room to find a selection of sweets and nibbles together with a half bottle of Cava! Very nice touch and much appreciated. I feel dreadful having a couple of niggles but here goes. The couple who were running the bar and food side (They had only been there a few weeks) weren't exactly mine hosts. They spent much too much time on the internet and constantly complained to the customers about the long hours and how they couldnt wait from one Monday to the next for some time off. And that they took it on over the winter because they were out of work! At first I felt sorry for them but ended up dreading going back as I felt guilty that I had spent some money elsewhere. I must stress that this couple were not the owners of the hotel. The other was that there were no shampoo etc available for guests. Small points but worth mentioning as you will need to take your own. That said, we had a wonderful time and felt that the place was much more than value for money. We stayed here for 4 night B & B, all for 80 euros per night! Well Done!!!!"

Chilled Out and Happy!
"We have recently arrived home from 2 weeks in Majorca staying at the Son Sant Jordi hotel. We initially booked for a week and booked another hotel in the south of the island for the second week. However, having arrived at the second hotel we decided that it was not what we were looking for (especially for the significant nightly rate) and so we rang the Son Sant Jordi and went back for a further week! Initially we booked room 4 (Les Aguiles) for the first week and then due to our 'unscheduled' return we stayed for 3 nights in the suite that is part of the owner's home next door to the hotel, 1 night in room 3 (La Platja) and then 3 nights in room 8 (El Calvari)! So we feel justified in being able to say ALL the rooms in the hotel are lovely! They are all beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, have lovely bathrooms and comfy beds. All of the hotel rooms we stayed in overlooked the garden and are therefore wonderfully quiet. The suite overlooks the road, however, this is a tiny one-way street and as a consequence the suite was also really quiet and we did not experience any noise issues day or night. Breakfast was generous and tasty and the gardens and pool a wonderful haven and perfect for days when we didn't want to go out. The cafe bar attached to the hotel was great for daytime drinks, snacks and evening drinks and Jose who ran it was really helpful and friendly, in fact all of the staff are great. Pollenca is a wonderful old town with a maze of tiny streets, wonderful restaurants, bars and shops. The hotel's location was perfect on a lovely little square, just a 5 minute stroll to the very centre of town. The only minor frustration was that every Monday the cafe was closed all day and as a consequence you can't get any drinks or snacks in the hotel. We would definitely recommend a stay at the Son Sant Jordi, we certainly will be returning!"

Pleasant Son Sant Jordi
"We stayed at the Son Sant Jordi for a week in April 2006. The old town of Pollensa is lovely and is a good mix of traditional Mallorcan culture with a moderate element of commercialised tourist-based businesses and restaurants. The hotel is in a great position being a short walk from the main square which is the hub of daytime and evening activity. The building is tastefully refurbished and extended, retaining it's original character and giving the feeling of being in an old building but with most modern facilities. Furnishings are of a good standard and we enjoyed our room (No.4, "Las Aguilas") which overlooked the small garden. The staff and owner are friendly and welcoming. The only problems were caused by what seems to be poor attention to detail and some "gaps" in the management structure. If you book on the basis of one of the "special deals" which include such things as airport transfer, wine-tasting trips, champagne or "Mallorcan dinner", be sure to confirm details fully. We didn't get any of these things except the airport transfer and the return trip to the airport was in doubt for a while! This didn't spoil it for us but if this sort of thing is important to you, beware. All in all, a nice place for a quiet relaxed stay but more attention to detail is needed and the coffee at breakfast is awful! If you need a hair dryer, take your own because the hotel didn't provide one even when asked and despite the promise in advance."

"We stayed in the San Jordi for 4 nights. The hotel in a lovely spot about 5 mins walk from the main square. We had a massive room which was very tastefully decorated. On two of the 4 nights we received complimentary wine/cava plus nibbles which we thought was a lovely touch. The hotel has a lovely peaceful garden (I would suggest that is a real bonus in the town) with a small swimming pool. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Despite being on a square the hotel was very quiet. The hotel also has a bar/restaurant which we did not use. We would not score this hotel as being excellent for the following reasons:- there was a bit of confusion when we arrived - we had to wait for the owner to arrive and whilst we were told he would be 5 mins it turned out to be about 1 hour. Also we found the breakfast situation to be a bit stressful due to the fact that often there were far too many people in one smallish room at any one time (however we might have been spoilt by breakfasts we had enjoyed in other hotels on our trip) - also the coffee was not good!"

"The Son San Jordi is a small eight bed oasis in almost the centre of Pollenca town, (the main square within a pleasant stroll) with beautiful and very well kept rooms, a friendly bar/restaurant and a small pool in a lovely enclosed garden of orange, lemon and cherry trees. All the staff where very friendly and extremely helpful and accommodating, which meant a lot when travelling with a 2 year old. Wonderful food, great atmosphere, beautiful surroundings which Iâm sure made for the most relaxing time possible for the parents of a very active toddler."
