Hoposa Hotel & Apartments Villaconcha
12 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"We have just returned from a week at Villa Concha. Food excellent and such a big variety. The apartment was adequate, clean and quiet. We had booked half board but took our own tea and coffee so we could make our own drinks. It was quiet around the pool as most people were sun bathing and reading. We found all staff friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was that the beds were a bit too hard. That would not stop us from returning."

Just back from Peurto Pollensa- fab
"Just back from staying at The Villa Concha Peurto Pollensa booked on line through Direct Holidays-part of the Thomas cook group. What a fantastic holiday!!! The hotel was super -the rooms and the facilities were spotless. We shared a one bed apartment with our 12 and 10 year olds who also had a great time. The kitchen was tiny but well stocked. The maids were lovely and provided clean towels far more often than the 3 times a week stated. All staff were helpful and cheerful with the bar staff being especially pleasant. The pool area had a life-saver on duty and was exceptionally clean and well maintained. We tried several restaurant, sampling various local Mallorcan dishes like Rabbit with Onions/Stuffed meatfilled Aubergines at C'AN PANCHA and Baked fish with Tambert/Suckling Pig at SIMBAD'S both were excellent .Little Italy was lovely but a little expensive worth a trip though-usually need to book. All things considered it was a FABULOUS holiday and could not be faulted. No loud bars or nightclubs, no yobs and no hassle! A great family holiday."

nice to stay with the ants!!!!
"stayed at the villa concha from september 11th to 18th 2006,from the brochure & web site the hotel looked very nice, clean & tidy.......don't let this fool you as it did us!! after one day we found ants in everyroom of our appartment,so i went down to reception to tell them and without any hesitation handed me a can of ant killer spray,it was if they were waiting for me to tell them, also heard other holiday makers saying they found ants in there beds!!it is no wonder the hotel as these problems because on the week i stayed it was only cleaned once, the bed sheets once and the towels only twice!! this needs to be sorted out NOW!,then perhaps the ants will leave,i read in previous reviews on trip advisor this ant problem and the person got moved to a second floor appartment, will i was on the second floor, this makes no difference..you still get ants!
also the staff at the bar could learn to smile a bit more it seemed like they were working for nothing and everything seemed an effort for them,at night my wife sometimes fancied a coffee rather then a alcohol or soft drink, but on three occations it seemed the coffee machine did not work after 10.00pm so had to go without,
the pool area was clean and a lifeguard was on call most days, and the snack bar food was good, location was also good only a five minute walk from the main town,
in all the hotel needs upgrading and staff need to be a bit more cheerful, then this will be a very good hotel rather then a not bad!!
we paid £500 each for a week and i excecpt more for this sort of money......at least clean sheets and towels & definitly NO ANTS!!!"

Villa Concha, Perfection
"Just got back from a week at The Villa Concha, great place to stay, First impressions mean alot as soon as u walk through the door you can see this place is a good accomodation to stay at, the reception is welcoming and bright as are the reception staff always smiling and willing to help. A safe cost 17 Euros for a week bit steep but worth it for the peace of mind. On first look the rooms are very basic but are your typical room in a three star across this type of resort, u get ur small kitchenette two rings sink hot n cold water, toaster, microwave, fridge, small freezer the works. In the lounge u get semi comfy couches, a tv with Sky news, BBC2, CBeebies and a movie channel, Dining Table, chairs and extra wardrobes, extra tip take hangers u get about 10 in the whole room. The whole room is v spacious, bed room has a bit of room a dressing table, two beds and Air Con. What a saving grace that is!! and its all free, there is one in each room, its great, u have no concept of heat outside it is that good. The room is basically very good. The maids are also very friendly and are willing to clean ur room at ur convenience, on numerous occasions the returned to our room as we were asleep or busy no hassle at all. The pool and bar area, the pool is great really clean and refreshing, never struggled to find a bed, just about positioning at different times of the day due to the shift of the sun, as the pool area does offer areas of shade which can be useful. As the hotel is suitable for families children come as part of the package, can be slightly annoying but remember they are only kids u get used to it, Life guards patrol the pool very safe. Bar area can be expensive, but service is relatively good, internet is available in the bar area and they show all the big football games on widescreens which for me is a big plus. Pool Tables in door and out very good 1 euro each. Thomas Cook rep was really good, Denise, very nice went on a night out with all the north island reps all really good, friendly, and welcoming, Had a quality night in alcudia. As for nightlife, try O'haras, or Mulligans in Pollenca, or Cheers and Peach Pit in Cudia, they are more for the younger generation like myself. Eateries wasn;t overwhelmed by them, if i was to mention a few i'd say try Tango, Little Italy thats the far end of pollenca, but don't try Neptuno it is rank meals were like microwave meals just not good. The beaches are 1st class really clean and patrolled by lifeguards plenty of activities to be done, water is clear and warm, beds and parasols available at 10 euros for two beds and a parasol, not too steep.
So to finish up i had a quality hotel every aspect was first rate not qulams about returning not one bad point about any aspect of the holiday. A five star Holiday. Hope this helps

Fantastic Holiday!?! Our truth guide......
"The Villa Concha is ideally suitable for families with young children. The area is peaceful but it is only 5 minutes to the beach. There are 3 pools of varying depths, the cleanliness of which were checked at least once a day. Getting a sunbed can be a problem in high season but that's not any different to anywhere else and you can use the chairs outside the bar to hang your towels while you swim if there's no room. JMC run kids clubs 6 days a week for children up to 12 and the Kids clubs reps are really nice and friendly. The hotels own entertainments man also does a mini disco for them at 8pm most nights. He also organises games of water polo in both pools as well as indoor games such as darts. There is a pool table and table tennis and a few arcade type games although they were expensive. The bar serves breakfast, snacks through the day and dinner from 7pm and the food is good although a little pricey; alcoholic drinks arent too expensive although try to avoid buying canned drinks from the fridge in there - they were two and a half euros each but you can buy them in Spar for 65cents!!! The bar staff seemed on the whole okay but one or two of them would have been better if they had smiled! There is entertainment in the bar from about 10pm most nights - such as a parrot or reptile show or a magician or comedian, Spanish dancing or karaoke - something for everyone really. All the entertainment, however late, was clean and family friendly. Reception staff were polite and helpful and they sold English newspapers and maps of the island. You can hire the use of the safes in the room but the key will cost you 31 euros for 2 weeks - a bit expensive for a key to something thats already in your room! The apartments are clean and comfortable and although there does seem to be a little problem with ants, spray is available from reception. Maid service is 3 times a week with frequent linen changes.
The resort itself is very nice - even in high season it did not feel over crowded unlike its neighbouring Alcudia, although if you do want to get to Alcudia Old Town (market on Tuesday & Sundays), or the Port or beach at Alcudia, the bus is cheap and frequent. The beach at Puerto Pollensa is sandy and the water clean and you can hire pedaloes and banana boat rides as well as parasailing and other water sports. There is a marina with lots of nice yachts and you can go out on a glass bottomed boat for a trip around the bay when you can swim in the sea off the boat. There are lots of lovely bars and restaurants within a 10-15 minute stroll along the promenade and even a Ben & Jerry's ice cream parlour to treat yourself after your evening meal!
Villa Concha stops serving breakfast at 9am - but we found a lovely little bar & restaurant opposite the Pollensa Park Hotel about a 10 minute walk away that did a Full English Breakfast - called BON DIA - run by Welsh ex-pats. After having tried one or 2 other places we returned here for both breakfast and lunch several times - this definitely did the best grub and the service was warm and friendly. They also have an Internet service and free book exchange - take a book on holiday - read it - exchange it here for another one from their bookshelves! They did a full menu from 8.30am right up til 11pm and made up beach picnics for take aways. They sold alcoholic drinks too!
Overall we had a fantastic holiday - I would recommend going to the Villa Concha Aparthotel - it isnt perfect but it went a long way to making our holiday great!"

Two great holidays
"We returned to the Villa Concha this year after a great time last year.
The hotel is great for young kids, as we have two under five. The pools are very child friendly and the play area with swings and a slide is good also. We couldn't fault the staff at the kids club either, they seemed lovely,as were the hotel bar and restaurant staff on both occasions we were there. They work long hours but were all very pleasant and the service was good. The food at the bar/ restaurant is good for a daytime snack.
The resort itself is beautiful, with some fantastic restaurants that are very good value for money and i would really recommend it for families with young kids or older couples on their own or with friends.
My only concern is that the rooms at the VC could do with a refit. The bathrooms are a bit tatty,as is the furniture in the living area. That said, they are very clean and adequate for the time spent in them so it wouldn't stop me booking a third time to be honest."

Had a brilliant holiday at the Villa Concha!!!!
"Was really worried before I went on this holiday because of some of the comments particularly the ants problem. Requested a second floor room and did not see any of them throughout my stay. It was also my 9 year old son's first foreign holiday and he was really sad to leave. The restaurant and barr staff were lovely and friendly and could not do enough for you. The apartment was kept really clean and three times a week you had maid service. The reps Denise and Sam were very helpful as well. My son went to the kids club on 1 occasion but never went back but I think that was more to do with his age (not cool enough!) Did hear a few reports about the kids entertainers not being interested since it was the last week of the season. Nuna(?) the hotel's entertainer was brill with all the kids and I even found Carlos (the main entertainer) very friendly as well. Met loads of nice people as well which made our stay even better. Very sad to leave especially since the apartments were closing for the winter the day we left and a few of the staff were leaving. Puerto Pollensa was absolutely stunning as a resort and would not hesitate to return at a later date."

Thank Goodness for Nuno!
"Just spent a week here, weather hit and miss but apartment very clean and adequately furnished. The jmc Kids World 'Reps' were absolutely USELESS!!! I know it was the end of season but we had still paid good money. They couldn't be bothered with the scheduled activities and twice sent our kids back to the apartment stating they couldn't do the planned activity. Instead Jay (who was the lead kids rep) sat in the bar watching football. We had to ask for the free kids' packs (which we found out about from another guest!!!)
However, the hotel's own kids activity organiser (a Belgian girl named Nuno (?)) was fantastic, our 7 year old loved her and she was great with kids of all ages. Her boss (carlos) was a bit embarrassing though, quite egocentric.
The resort is beautiful and the restaurants we enjoyed were Nico's, Dakota and especially Simbad's."

"When I visited te Villa Concha this september the weather wasn´t all good at all but the Kids world reps entertained our children to the max. Del the Kids World rep was fantastic at her job and thomas cook should be proud to have her working for them- she made our holiday. The kids loved the things she did e.g. dress up asa Mrs Blobby!!! We miss her a lot and the children
The reception staff were rude and very unfriendly. the bar staff was the same.
the location is exellent and well worth the money"

"My family and I stayed in a one bedroomed in the villa concha apartments from 24th september for one week. This was our second visit to this accommodation and they have deteriorated greatly since our last holiday there. The apartments are grotty and need updating badly, our bathroom was on the point of being disgusting - broken cracked tiles, stained mirrors generally very old fashioned. Water pressure very poor - shower appalling. A light fitting went on fire over the coach in the living area and had started to drip down on to the couch when we discovered it - we were lucky not to have been incinerated.. kitchen dreadful again very dated and tiny too claustrophobic to cook in and fridge leaked constantly.pool areas are nice but there seems to be a problem as they were constantly topping pool up with hose pipes from across the road. Staff at reception are not the most helpful i have come across.
having said all that we did enjoy our holiday puerto pollensa is a beautiful place a piece of paradise. i would recommend stay restaurant out at the pier and also the brisas restaurant on the pine walk. hire a car and go to formentor a scary drive but spectacular."

"We have just come back from a week staying at the Villa Concha and were slightly disappointed with the quality of the accommodation.
Our apartment could have been lovely. It was spacious and for the most part very clean. The air conditioning was a big bonus.
However, the apartment was in need of some upgrading. There was a big crack in the marble surround in the bathroom, the 'camp beds' were not the most comfortable, many of the floor tiles were chipped and the walls are paper thin. My husband could tell me what had been on Sky news because next door were watching it!
The swimming pools and area were lovely and well maintained - plenty of space.
Puerto Pollensa is a lovely place and these apartments could have been lovely if they had been maintained a little better. Overall the apartments were fairly good value for money."

Oh the noise!!!!
"We were one of the parties diverted from the VC(as called by the JMC rep) by JMC after the storms which affected the water at the apartments. We were intitially located at the Habitat Apts which are further out of town but had 2 beds and were much quieter.
It may be me but the VC was incredibly noisy in comparison. I know you can't expect a quiet holiday when there are kids around but the noise was at night. The design of the apartments was such that any noise echoed around the corridors and the slightest sound was magnified. We were so knackered after a full on day of trying to prevent our 2 year old from joining the fishes at the bottom of the "sea sea sea" we just wanted to get a meal and an "early" (10.30) night.
Now I am not a light sleeper (to help me get to sleep I just need to lie down - anywhere will do as long as its horizontal!!) so its wasn't that. If it wasn't the couple upstairs having their last night couplings above us or the kids who should have been in bed instead of screaming around the corridors at midnight or the adults who thought having a late night session on their balcony was an excellent idea whilst the rest of us were trying to recover from our day time exertions with our nippers, it was the trundling cleaner trollies and people wheeling their suitcases going up and down the corridors time & time again.
I agree that the reception staff had a rather po faced attitude to customer service and it took 3 requests and 5 days for the air con to be looked at on the day before we left, but as we spent most of our time on the beach it was not really an issue.
If you want a quiet holiday at nights then steer clear of VC - you won't get it - head for the Habitat and hire a car!!"
