Don't book it!
"We have just returned from 2 weeks in Alcudia. We travelled with Thomson and this supposedly 3T+ is the worst place I've ever stayed in. The walls were paper thin, so you could hear next door's conversations and people passing at all hours up to 3am.
There is not a kids club as advertised, I wouldn't have booked a hotel without a kids club, my youngest (6) had a great experience last year in Cala Bona, but not here. Took him along on the first day and found the place locked, hunted for the entertainment team (the two of them - Minty and an 18 yr old girl) and found out the kids club was "playing in ithe pool today". So I took my son in the pool approached the kids rep and said he'd like to join in. After he'd been ignored for a while he came back to me I'd stayed a few feet away in the same pool and asked me what to do. "Go and ask to join in" I said and he did, I watched as she ignored him again at least ten minutes had passed and she was only playing with a small group of girls. I was going to bring him back when she started a group activity and all the kids were playing ring-a-roses. Great we thought watched for a while all seemed well and we took our eldest for an ice-cream at the pool bar, a couple of minutes later returned to discover that the kids rep had taken all the other children to the other pool leaving my son in armbands on his own. Complained to thomson rep & still can't believe that level of irresponsibilty.
The apartments cleanliness was also questionable - other peoples hairs under the beds and mucky corners in the bathroom. The pool was too cold to swim in most days even the kids didn't want to get in - in august. And on the couple of days we braved it was full of teenagers pushing each other in, it was so boisterious I'd say it isn't suitable for families with young children.
The entertainment was awful enough to give small children nightmares! The flamenco dancers consisted of one male dancer who was pretty scary.....and Minty.....oh dear."

Dogâs dinner of a resort
"Having read with great interest the great reviews upon these internet pages regarding this so called hotel, we thought why not give it a whirl. We have just returned from Alcudia (3 Adults and 3 Children) and glad to be home. We now realize what a mistake that was and cannot come to terms as to why anyone with any brain cell can give this hotel good marks at all. What with damp rooms smelling of urine, human waste and sweat, a pool that constantly had food and rubbish floating in it and a lack of any real customer service I feel very low. Had to endure stinky nights and not allowed to be moved to another room. Hotel management gave us a can of air freshener which was a great help. Hotel blamed the weather but donât get fobbed off as we had good weather and hardly any rain. No bath as mentioned so had to use the shower. After washing you felt dirty again so gave up washing and the will to live after the 3rd day. Thomson brochure indicated a 300 metre walk to the beach whereas more like 800 metre walk which you need to cross a 4 lane main road to get to. Great when you have kids. Cafe on the beach was very pricey. The beach was compared to an ash tray thanks to the hundreds of Brits from Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle that dominated the area. The beach was never racked over and cleaned at any stage of our holiday due to sun loungers and shades fixed permanently to the beach and in the way. All features mentioned in the Thomson brochure were not free (ie. Rifle Shooting, Water Sports, Etc). I find it hard to come to terms with anyone giving this place the name 'hotel' as a joke. I would definitely give this place a wide birth and leave well alone. Now need a holiday to get over this excuse of a holiday."

Fab Apartments for Alcudia
"We have just returned from two week stay at these lovely apartments on 3rd August 2007 and don't understand negative reviews. Had a great two week stay and found apts to be ideal for what we required. Had a one bed apt for us and our two kids, 15 & 12, which was perfect for our needs which are admitedly mainly just a comfortable place to sleep. Didn't use self catering facility nor restuarant as we eat out but they both seemed to be getting good review. Asked in advance for possible pool view apt and delighted when this was able to be accomodated as in our opinion better located apts.
We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, with a well run apthotel, very clean and organised. The bottle of champagne on my birthday was a nice touch by the manager, first ever in all years away which was much appreciated. No panic for sunbeds as booking was not allowed and generally adhered to (there were still people at it but kids entertainer "Minty" sorted them out a few times over the period which meant everyone had a chance of a bed during the day. A joy not to have to go to the pool at 6 in the morning to get beds for the rest of the day!! Pool & surrounds kept clean and ideal for my 14 days of lounging. Pool bar was however very slow and never more than one person on duty which meant long queues, so we nipped round corner on occasion to Foxes.
Wasn't impressed with Thomson rep when my wife took ill and asked advice re docs and chemists just to get the hyphcondriac ramblings re her health instead. Similarly her repeated mail drops to our apartment requesting presence to her welcome meetings and to purchase trips from her, but used to hard sell by now so just ignored her.
One small irk with Minty the "entertainer" which probably makes us spoilsports, he takes the kids round the pool every couple of days with their water guns, 20-30 kids at a time as a firing squad systematically soaking everyone and everything (ipods, books, cameras etc dont tend to like water! ) and everyone gets it whether they like it or not, young or old. Some loved it but a lot of people not their idea of fun. Highly recommend our experience of this Apthotel to others and would have no qualms about returning again ourselves."

Excellent Value Accomodation
"We have just returned from a weeks stay in this hotel and cannot speak highly enough for the quality of service and accommodation.
Upon arrival the check in process was extremely efficient and we were in our room within 5 minutes of entering the hotel.
Rooms are spacious and clean with plenty of wardrobe space, small kitchenette/dining area and large living quarter leading to balcony.
The apartments have hob, fridge, air con, sattelite TV with english channels (BBC1,BBC2,ITV and News 24) along with a number of other spanish/german channels
There's plenty of space in the large pool complex which consists of 2 pools one larger than the other. We were out in the sun early but never saw anyone struggling for a lounger. Facilities in the pool area are ping pong and pool.
We didnt eat in the hotel at all as we went into Alcudia and Porto Pollensa to eat and found some excellent places to go.
The beach is fantastic with loungers available for 3.5 euros per day each. The beach gets a little crowded but is generally fine.
The staff within the hotel were very friendly and even sent missing crdeit cards back to me in the post which i left in the room, DOH!
Altogether a very enjoyable week and would highly recommend this accomadation"

Good clean, well-run hotel & good value
"We have just returned from the Alcudia Beach apartments (2 adults, 3 young children) and I'm surprised to see some of the negative reviews on Trip Adviser; We stayed for a week and were delighted with the hotel, it's staff and the location of the hotel - not too near the noisier parts of Alcudia and about 5 minutes walk from the family-friendly beach (watch out crossing the road though!). The apartment we had was well decorated and clean. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the whole hotel [ if you don't believe me get up a bit earlier and watch the army of cleaners at work!]. There are two nice pools at the hotel and the reception & bar areas are well presented. We found the staff and Thomson Rep helpful and courteous. As we have a toddler we were given a ground floor apartment and within 10 minutes of arriving reception had called to ask if everything was OK.
Considering its 'free' the adult and children's entertainment in the evening was pretty good (if you like that sort of thing - if you don't, there are other areas of the bar to sit in)"

Very cheap hotel
"We have just returned from Alcudia, and it was lovely and we would love to go back. However, the Alcudia Beach hotel was awful; we had a studio apartment for the first time, because it was last minute and we are a couple in out late 50âs. (Never again). The carpets were full of holes, the smell horrendous; the tiny balcony only had a view of the fire escape. All the edges the table had peeled off and were hanging down with all the dirty glue on view, the fridge and cupboards were too dirty to use, we kept our clothes in our case. Unless you are getting a VERY Very cheap holiday donât go there."

Great Hotel, would visit again
"We stayed for a week at the alcudia beach aparthotel and really enjoyed it. We had booked late and were slightly aprehensive, but this hotel exceeded our expectations. The welcome meeting was informative and a great chance to meet others. The staff were always friendly and helpful and the location was excellent, only about 3 blocks to the beach and 3 to the main shopping area. The rooms were nice with a handy kitchenette and were reasonably clean.
The entertainment at the hotel was wonderful and completely unexpected! We participated in the rifle shooting and a water fight. The evening entertainment was suitable for both adults and children and the pub/ restaurant area was delightful. The pool was also very nice.
If you are visiting this hotel make sure to visit the port of alcudia, which is only a 20 minute walk away and has some nice little stores and gorgeous views."

"Have just returned from Alcudia Beach Aparthotel which was booked through Thomson.co.uk
We booked for 4 adults in two separate apartments. Our accommodation turned out to be one room with two "sofa-beds", they are more like garden benches with a mattress on. Each has high wooden sides and back. Three of our party are 6ft plus and it is impossible to lay on the "bed" without your feet hanging over the bars at the end.
We spoke to the Thomson rep and an operator on the Thomson Helpline and were asked if we mentioned our height when we booked the holiday!
24 hours later we were offered alternative accommodation at an additional cost of £771 for the remaining 6 nights.
I have never booked a holiday and thought to question whether there was a bed at the accommodation and to pay £280 under-occupancy really does add insult to injury. Apparently this additional charge is for a 3rd person but a 3rd bed is not obvious. Looking closer there is a small cupboard in the corner and when you turn it round, there is a mattress inside. Unfortunately, if you rolled out this "bed" there would be no floor space left at all.
The hotel is meant to be a 3* but has stained threadbare carpets in the corridors and the 5th floor has a constant seweage smell. The rooms are sparse and tired with holes and tears in the bed linen and not too clean (don't look under the "sofa").
Outside in the pool area you are reprimanded if you move any chairs and are constantly reminded by tannoy that you cannot have any food or drink in that area that is bought in from outside, funny as the holiday is advertised as self catering.
Overall the hotel staff try their best but this particular hotel is not accurately described by Thomson. I think they operate a "take the money and run" policy."

lovely pool area
"We stayed here in June 2004. This hotel is in easy walking distance to a number of restaurants, cafes and shops. 10 minutes walk to the very clean beach but we liked the pool area so much we stayed there mostly. There were plenty of sunbeds and shallow pool areas for children. The rooms were an apartment style with fridge and very basic cooking facilities but the beds were a bit uncomfortable as they were sofas during the day - ok if you were less than 5 foot 6!! Staff were helpful. A shower room was available in reception area for late check outs. Very good value for money."

"+ great location, spotlessly clean, most staff helpful, food excellent something different every day,ate far too much.
- asked for room with pool view, was given one overlooking side road, only had sun in morning to cold to sit out on balcony in afternoon, too windy. Were were there for 10 days, only had entertainment 3 nights. No children's entertainment. Were only British there."

"The hotel staff are very friendly, and we have really enjoyed our week there where we did meet some absolutely German families. Food is not great but definitely plentiful. Rooms are clean. Only gripe I can honestly have is that our travel agents never even hinted to us that absolutely everything is catered for a German market....including the childrens entertainment every evening which is carried out solely through german, which I thought was unfair. All signs on the notice board, and all reading material at reception are all solely in german. The menu does however translate into English too so at least we knew what we were eating! B"
