Probably Not Again
"I'd been here before, 2 years ago, and had a good time. This time was a lot worse. The Good My double-room-for single-use was spacious. The room cleaning women were excellent. Did a fantastic job. The Bad The pool was in dire need of a good clean. This was the start of the season but they already had had guests staying there for weeks. The pool area should have been cleaned daily and it wasn't. The food - you can survive on the meals there but I gave up after a couple of days and opted to eat out in the evenings. At best the food was lukewarm and not very exciting - certainly catered for the German residents. The area - staying there 2 years ago was 'different' but being surrounded by rude Germans (and they were mostly rude) wears down on you. I quickly found the other English guests which did help. Germans are used to paying a little bit more than Brits, and it showed in the resort prices - San Miguel 3-4 Euros a pint. I took the bus over to Palma Nova and Magalluf for a day and the prices just drop - meals for 4-5 Euros, San Miguel for 1-2½ Euros (yes I saw pints for 1 Euro!) The Ugly Groups of loud guests (both sexes). Lots of noise when they came back from clubbing at 4am-5am. The police were called at one point. Overall not a very good experience. I won't be staying again."

"Full of Germans, rude staff, and worst meals ever! Me n my friend are both 17 and were very nervous about being on our own in a foreign country, on our first night a bunch of german people next door were shouting and singing till 6 in the morning, we simply said shhhh as we figurerd they wouldnt understand please be quiet. This obviously didnt go down well as the next night we came in at 4 went straight to bed...which is reasonable seeming as the bars dont shut till 7, we get a knock on the door from the night guard threatening us in spanish and shouting saying the germans next door had complained. Me and my friend were in tears not understanding what he was syaing. I went down stairs with my spanish handbook to try ask them what was going on. 2 of them started shouting and one grabbed my mate by the arm and twisted it behind her back, and said if i didnt leave they would ring the police. We honestly had done nothing i was just trying to understand what was happening, i was crying and not raising my voice as to eb honest i didnt know wot they would do if i did shout as they were very aggressive. When i attemped to say im sorry but i do not understand, one of them grabbed a Batton (i think thats what its called, the things the police have) and threatened us with that. We ran upstairs and threw everything in our suitcases and left in floods of tears. We each had 140 euros which would not have been enough to move hotels, or get a cab and a last minute flight home, we was stranded and of course our parents were so worried. However if they had rang the hotel to say anything the hotel staff wouldnt have understood or tried to understand anyway. Me and my friend returned after a night out on the streets with our suitcases at 7 in the morning when luckily there was different staff on. From then on every night we went out, the 2 night staff would make nasty comments and shout stuff at us. we refused to react as we didnt want a repeat of what happened on our first night. we was stuck there and we had 2 make the best of it. We got woken up early every moring because the cleaners would shout down the corridors and argue with eachother every day. The food was cold at breakfast, cold chips...how odd is that. and at breakfast u can help urself to drinks, however at dinner they close of the drink machines and make you pay for drinks. Dinner was also unpleasant i think me n my friend had about 2 meals there of which we didnt complete. I must admit the pool was nice and the bar was nice. It seems to me that this hotel does not have time for english people, and only accomadates for the germans. The staff made no effort with us. BUT DONT let this stop u visiting playa de palma !!!! the clubs are fantastic, the beach is absolutely gorgeous, and the returants and bars are great. If u fancy going somewhere to drink thats english go to Beach Combre! absolutely lurrvly people there made us feel so welcome, and they give lots of free shots and drinks :D only english people in there. However i would definately recomend you stay in a different hotel. Hotel Isis is quite nice and only across from the beach. Best of luck! But do avoid this hotel! The staff hoever may have respect for more older people."

not all bad
"i stayed at trhis hotel from 31st august 2007 for one week.i came with my son 19 and my father in law 70 .after reading the reviews before we went we were thinking about changing our accomodation.we were glad that we didnt .we got what we paid for which was half board for 220.00 each.we went there fully expecting to pay for extra food out but it wasnt always needed.yes the hotel and surrounding area was full of germans but they were better behaved than a group of english teenagers.we were treated very well at the reception desk and nothing was tooo much of a problem for them.the hotel was clean and the food was reasonable.you pay for what you get and sometimes people expect too much for their money."

I went with 2 of my friends to Hotel Ale...
"I went with 2 of my friends to Hotel Alejandria on 28/7/07 - 04/8/07. The whole town of Arenal is German and Dutch & the staff around the town have made more of an effort to learn German than English! The hotel however was very clean and so was the room itself, we were given fresh towels everyday, I think we only got clean sheets once. The chances of getting a pool view are very slim and we ended up being above a nursery which had screaming children running about every morning at 7.30am. The hotel has more than 500 rooms however there are only about 10 sun beds around the pool...we never went in the pool once, we did however go to the beach which is only a 10-15 min walk from the hotel...AGAIN this beach is mainly a German beach. AS FOR THE FOOD IN THE HOTEL.... this was TERRIBLE! CHIPS...YES, CHIPS every morning... and sweetcorn! The breakfast buffet was swarming with flies all over the fruit and the food was very distasteful. As for the dinner we sat in one night out of the whole week as the food looked horrible. We ate out every other night after that. Some of the staff could speak fluent German but not a word of English...which can get confusing when you are asking a question. The hotel is in a very residential and local people area...but again is only a short 15min walk to the beachfront where there are shops and restaurants. Overall I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I certainly would not return. "

All German town and Hotel
"I went with 2 of my friends to Hotel Alejandria on 28/7/07 - 4/8/07. When I read some of the reviews before I went i thought "it cant all be germans" BUT I WAS WRONG! The whole town of Arenal is German and dutch, the staff around the town have made more of an effort the learn German than English! The hotel however was very clean and so was the room itself, we were given fresh towels everyday, I think we only got clean sheets once. The breakfast buffet was swarming with flies all over the fruit and the food was very distasteful. As for the dinner we sat in one night out of the whole week as the food looked horrible! The germans seemed to like it tho! We ate out every other night after that. Some of the staff could speak fluent german but not a word of english...which can get confusing when you are asking a question. The hotel is amoungst a very residential and local poeple area...but again is only a short 15min walk to the beach front where there are shops and restuarants. Overall I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I certainly would not return."

Perfect for a short break
"Ideal for a short break, this hotel is clean, the staff are friendly and very accommodating (we arrived at 9am with a check-in time of 2pm but they checked us in early). Yes the hotel is very German - the whole resort is, but as a guest you benefit from a quiet and relaxed hotel with no loud noise from the nearby bars. The food is what you would expect for the price, basic but very edible. Be careful if you have any dietary requirements - my friend is a vegetarian and had a lot of trouble with the food (one dish was labelled simply 'fried'), but I enjoyed the salad bar and nice cake! Plenty of sun beds as well so no worry about getting a space!"

A few things to say about this hotel.. ...
"A few things to say about this hotel.. 1. If your British then i'd stay away because this hotel is solely used by Germans. They are mainly the younger generation and are so noisy and disrespectful. They look at you as if you are S**T on the floor because you are British. 2. The Food in the hotel was the worst i ever experienced in my life. It was cold and they had no order or presentation whatsoever. They had no bacon or other English breakfast items. Just continental breakfast for the one and only country Germany. 3. There were 2 British families in the hotel when we stayed. We used to walk in the restaurant and take a swift exit back out. They had vegetable pie for breakfast and crisps (yes crisps)! Nothing whatsoever that we could of eaten. We could of starved for all they cared. We spent more money out of the hotel than the whole holiday cost, solely on food alone. The restaurant workers were so ignorant and it killed them to give a smile. They also raised the price of the water twice while we were there. We refused it. We expected half board meals to a standard but this was a *** hotel and stated in the review that its used by English and Germans. We went in high season June/July. 4. The reception staff were ok to an extent with only 1 English speaking receptionist. When he was not there we had to translate to our best ability, which is not right for a hotel The hotel was clean and spacious and the maids were friendly even though they were Spanish they smiled. Lastly the pool ladders are loose and a potential hazard to children. Just a word of warning, this is the worst hotel i have ever been in my life. It should not be 3 star more like a 1 star hostel. So if you've booked up here your up for a tough ride. This hotel really spoiled our holiday. We couldn't wait to get back home for a decent meal. The weather was lovely and hot though 32 C everyday. Ok for a short break
"We went for a long weekend, which this hotel is ok for, wouldnt like to think we were there for any longer. Food wasnt up to much. This hotel caters mainly for the Germans, they seemed to eat plenty. The rooms are basic but clean. Be warned there is no air conditioning and it gets rather warm. The beach nearby is wonderful and only a 5 mins walk from the hotel. Staff were all ok, didnt have any problems in the hotel. The resort generally caters for the german holiday maker, in fact we didnt speak to a single english person the whole time we were there. Palma is only a short bus ride away and worth a visit."

"I cannot stress too much the need to avoid this hotel. The staff of surly and unhelpful and deny knowing English when you wish to complain. The hotel is predominantly for German tourist especially stag and same sex parties. Noise is awful throughout the night banging doors, shouting and singing, even police visits! The food is worse than dreadful, the hot food is not hot, and the cold food is not cold. Breakfast on a morning was different - crisps, baked beans and sweet corn with peppers. Evening meals were an education with scrag end of lamb. Veal? And deep fried battered broccoli. The location of the hotel left a lot to be desired with the square outside the hotel being used and local racetrack for boy racers. All in all a nightmare of a holiday."

Arenal nice promenade
"Hotel very clean, breakfast, chips nearly every morning, I had egg on toast or beans if on the menue, evening meal, fish two or three times a week, Rabbit once a week, chicken twice a week and lamb was mostly bone and fat once a week. If making your own transfer from the Palma airport to the hotel, there are plenty of taxis, and the charge is roughly between 16 and eighteen euros. the hotel guests are mostly German, the airconditioning is on the hotel ground floor but not in the bed rooms. The hotel is about 10 minuets walk from the beech. Going to Palma there is a No 15 bus fare 1/10c euros and 23 bus 1 euro, The 15 bus is more frequent and I sujest you catch it at the No one bus stop on the front, because they get very full and there are only a few seats , they cater more for standing passengers. There are 15 bus stops on the front each represented by a beach bar and on the back of these bars are the number of the bus stop. There is model train which you can catch to take you to the far end of the promenade, there is only one fare and that is 3euros 50 cents."

"my partner and i have just returned fron this hotel. i had read reviews from different sites about it which made us aware that it was not up to date in refurbishment and it was just like els bells on carry on abroad (1970s) decor. it was also mostly young german, spanish and dutch people ages from 17-25. the night we got there i was afraid it may have been a little rowdy but after 4 nights i can honestly say there was no noise from them at night only when they were in the pool during the day but nothing more than laughing. the hotel its self was a blast from the past but near to the beach and also near to the airport so taxis were cheap. it was clean, maids were in every day, but no air conditioning. buffet breakfast was just the normal (boiled eggs, ham, cheeses, and cereal) dinner buffet differed each night but for what you pay for half board was okay. to be truthful we didnt fill our plates and were'nt there long enough to see what others actually left on there's the young ones seemed to enjoy it. staff were friendly enough and didnt seemed to phased by the amount of young people in groups. this hotel is okay for a few cheap nights away for a little break but wouldnt have liked to have stayed for a week. without air con and the size of the rooms you nay have began to feel a little suffocated. especially in mid july."
