the powdrills return again!
"the powdrill family have been to this hotel five times and we are going again twice this year .its one of the best hotels we have stayed in .it is also ideal for children, being just across the road from the beach,as we have taken our grandchildren four times and they love it.all the rooms we have stopped in have always been clean as the maid service is excellent!as is the food and all the staff who are very welcoming and will do anything for you.everything you need is on the doorstep, bars shops ect.there is also a bus stop a few yards down the road and also the taxirank does a very good service around the resort.we would not stop anywhere else in palma nova ."

"myself and family have just returned from another stay at the tropico playa. This time we were given a front facing room which, although it had lovely views of the sea, it also came with a lot of noise well into the early hours from people sitting outside the hotel on the verandah. This was the first time we had experienced so much noise at this hotel so next time we will definitely request a different room location there. Apart from that, we could not fault anything else at the tropico, the rooms are very clean and adequate, the staff are very friendly and the location is good. We did notice the change in the prices though when browsing the shops, we were last there in july and between then and now the prices have risen quite a bit! "

Just got back from the Tropico Playa Hot...
"Just got back from the Tropico Playa Hotel, the hotel it self is quiet good and the staff very helpful, the only thing I would say about Majorca is that they can see us Brits coming a mile, the prices they charge at the Spar shop are ridicilous, for eg, baby body wash in the UK £1.00 and they are charging 5 euros?? nearly 5 quid, I would recommend to people that are going out there soon is to take most things from here.
Another thing that lets the place down is they are trying too hard to offer us everything English whilst we are out there, I mean everthing is geared at Brits, even most off the shops are named in English, some of us dont mind abit of a different culture whilst we are in a different country!!!
another thing I would say is to think carefully about the excursions, they are not all that, for eg, we went to the Inca market, paid nearly 50 quid and it was awful, most of the stalls sold the same things and again cheap tacky things that are way too expensive.
But the tropico Hotel we cannot fault.
Enjoy your stay"

"My family ( 4 adults and 2 kids) stayed here in sept 2008, fab hotel, very clean, staff very helpful, excellent location. directly across the road is the beach. plenty of bars, resturants, shops near by. crazy golf next door to the hotel and very cheap kept the kids happy in the evening time. mcdonalds is across the road from the hotel where kids got a snack during the day. weather was excellent the week we stayed around 28-30degrees with two cloudy days. We went to the western waterpark, dolphin show and boat trip which were all reasonable priced and a great day out. Our favourite was the water park suitable for all ages. I must say the food in the hotel was just out of the world could not fault it something there to suit everyones choice and a different selection of food and desserts every night. I will say pool is small and the shallow end is very deep for kids. However i would highly recommend this hotel to any one and I will be going back next year."

"We booked the holiday to the tropico playa with out reading reviews on here....then after reading some reviews we wondered if we had done the right thing.
Well i can tell you this was the best holiday we have had in a long time.
On arrival julia the recepionist was very polite and quick to see to our needs.
The room was clean and comfortable although we didn't get a sea or pool view it was still fine....aircon was very good and fridge came in handy which can be hired from reception...25 euros for 2 weeks was great...( cold beer )...
The restuarant was excellent Ferillio head waiter ( not sure of spelling his name ) was very funny and made the meal times relaxing and funny....the food was very good and plenty to choose from.....condsidering it was a 3* hotel food was spot on...thumbs up to the chef...
The pool was small yes but still easy to access and sunbeds!! well i have never been away where you can still get a sunbed at 10am....so if you like the pool sunbeds are no problem.
The hotel is located right across the road to the buitiful beach , so we spent most of our time on the beach...and with mc'donalds been on the beach front it was ideal for snacks during the day.
The staff in the hotel were very friendly and some are english staff as well....gail and neil were great...
we enjoyed our stay so much we have booked again for 2009 within 1 week of returning home.....we stayed at the tropico on 19th aug to the 2nd sep and the resort is very clean as well and well maintained...everything you could need is within 5 mins of the hotel....
dave & debs.....see you all at the tropico next august...

"The hotel is in a prime location, the dining room is too small, we took our six year old grand daughter, she didn't like the food, we were told that they did not cater for children although the place was full of them, we took her out for food.
According to the reviews the beds were very comfortable, it was like sleeping on an ironing board.
We had a very enjoyable holiday, I cannot believe the brilliant reviews, they must be easily pleased."

"ive recently got back from the Tropico Hotel and i had the most amazing holiday ever. The hotel was lovely it was in the best location straight opposite the sea and right in the middle of the shops, bars and restaurants it couldn't have been located in a more ideal place. The rooms were lovely, cleaned daily and very comfortable. It had fantastic facilities the pool was lovely and there were plenty of sun loungers for everyone. You couldn't have asked for nicer staff, anything you asked from them was never too much and they were all more than happy to help you out. The staff really made the holiday for me. Also the meals were fantastic, there was always a great choice of food to suit everybodys appetite. Palma nova itself was also a lovely place, ideal for the perfect holiday. I would definatly go back again."

Not long back from a great holiday in Pa...
"Not long back from a great holiday in Palma Nova where we stayed at the hotel Tropico Playa. The hotel location was fantastic the beach was just across the road and both beaches in Palma and Magalluf are amazing.
The accomodation - room sizes were a little disappointing rather small for a family of three but very clean and we were impressed with the services, there was fresh towels every day and rooms were cleaned spotlessly daily, also staff were very polite and welcoming.
The dining facilities were also excellent we never had to wait for a table the food was of a high standard, catering for everyone's needs and the vast variety they had to offer was fabulous. The waiter service was second to none and entertaining too.
Palma Nova is a brilliant little resort just a short distance from Magalluf and Palma's magnificant Royal Palace and unforgetable Cathedral which is one of the largest gothic structures built in the 14th century. Whist staying in Palma Nova these sites were easily accessible by bus which are fully air conditioned and run every half an hour the numbers 104 and 106 take you directly to these attractions.
In Magalluf there is the famous pirate show which is a must see for any one who visits this fantastic place. Overall our holiday was Fab,Great, Brill, excellent, wanderful what more can i say i would definately recommend a visit to this lovely place and go back again again."

"Just came back from Tropico Playa and being 17 i was worried from what i saw in the reports but none of them were true. loved the girls at reception they were always nice. there was a range of food for everyone. cleaners were brill!! and it was directly opposite the beach. close to magaluf which was good for me and my mate and cheap taxis. loved the cocktail bar and the only true bit i have read from a report was the cocktails were strong but only 1 out of about 5 i had!!!! we loved it and i would defo go back. ignore the nasty reports they are WRONG!!!!!!!"

"just come back from 11 nights at the tropico playa,it was fantastic, ignore all rubbish reviews as what they expect god only knows, the food was excellent with a great choice for everyone, gerardine the kids entertainer was great with the kids,my son connor who is 5 absolutely loved her,the only thing what lets the hotel down is the pool/sunbathing area which is way to small but right over the road is the best beach,s sunloungers plus a parasol is 9 euros, not bad really.would certainly go back again.
thanks again gerardine for making connors holiday"

We booked this holiday at the last minut...
"We booked this holiday at the last minute without really knowing much about the resort..so when checking reviews re. Hotel Tropico we were a little apprehensive! BUT...we had a brilliant week there!
We have a 2 and a half year old and he also had a great time.
We found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming and on arrival we were impressed to be given a choice of 2 rooms. Was handy to pick the quieter of the 2 (RM 32 - away from the bar and main road).
The air conditioning was a god-send and we found the facilities to be very clean and the sheets crisp and fresh!
The pool area was ok - yes, the main pool is too small for the size of the hotel but it didnt really stop us from enjoying time in it. The baby pool was just right, shaded most of the day but access for small children was a bit dicey - no steps, you have to clamber up and over into it. (just a prob for the kids when wanting to get out if you turn your back for a second).
The pool bar was useful, selling pizzas, burgers, lollies...vodka tonics! Convenient with a family.
There is also table tennis and pool, video games inside, TV, internet access.
The restaurant was fine (we are talking 3 Star accommodation so you can't expect gourmet). There was a wide range of food to help yourself to, buffet-style. I dont know why peole have said there were no healthy options! There was always plenty of salads, fresh fruit - yes, chips were available but there was always alternatives - rice, pasta, potatoes. Breakfast was plentiful - a range of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts, croissants, pastries....hash browns (our fav...) bacon, eggs....the list goes on. You can't complain for a 3star place, was great.
The beach is literally on your doorstep, just over a smal road and your there. Plenty of water activities and sunbeds. Gorgeous sands and views. (there were jellyfish early august so be cautious).
We have already said we'd go back to Tropico Playa, good value for money, brilliant weather, short flight...
Oh, lastly, the kids entertainer i'll let you judge for yourself......
