Oh no what a mistake
"They show you pictures of rooms but not the tiny room we got.No air conditioning just a fan that did sod all. People talk about you get what you pay for well our holiday was not a cheap and we expected a lot better than we got. The staff were nice and the breakfast was good that's all i can say on that. My advice is don't come here there are loads of better hotels. We will never be back to this hotel although we will be back to Palma Nova."

Oh no what a mistake
"Our room was unlike any of the photos they show. Staff were very good. This was not a cheap holiday as it cost over £1000 for 9 days and then we had to pay for coffee with our breakfast."

late summer trip/ missing ring
"The rooms are very basic, but thats to be expected and not really an issue, if you want a fan which you will need to sleep, this is extra. The breakfast is basic and to be honest i feel sorry for the cook, who seriously could not work harder! It was very difficult to sleep for the majority of the time as most of the guests who were next to us were young and often came back at 4am on wards and chased each othr up and down the hall, crashed into other peoples doors and put music on. I was going to say that the staff could not be more helpful or lovely - until i had an opal ring stolen from the shelf in the bathroom. I took it off one evening, and found it missing 24 hours later - along with our tooth paste! I can only guess that a cleaner took the rng out of my wash bag and knocked the toothpaste into the bin.... When reporting this i was asked if it was my fault, an accident or even a joke being played by my friend - as it couldnt possibly be the cleaners!! Frankly the holiday ended on a sour note! "

"Just literally got back from Mallorca this afternoon. We stayed in the Gabarda Hotel for 14 nights. It is a basic hotel but what more do you need than somewhere to place your head at night and then a shower in the day to clean the muck away? Tanya (and another lady, sorry cannot remember your name) on reception were fantastic and very happy to talk to. The bar staff were great but there was one that did seem a little grumpier than the others. The hotel was quiet in the evenings due to the end of season, but certainly met some characters out there. Overall a good stay for us but if you are looking for a little more uplifting look at the other end of Palma Nova or Maggaluf. But this was perfect for us."

"After reading the reviews on here and other sites i wasn't really expecting much from this place. However, i was pleasantly suprised! Me and a mate (we are both 24) came here in September 2009 looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful, and that's pretty much what you'll get from Gabarda. The room was very basic - two beds, balcony and shower room. But although it's basic, it's also very clean, and the maids came round three times to change the bedding etc. The shower was also clean and warm, although most of the time you'll probably want a cold shower anyway!!! The hotel is British owned and the lady who runs it is very helpful with local things and was always very friendly. Even the Spanish bar staff were extremely friendly and chatty (all speak perfect english). The pool is small but very nice. Breakfast is a proper English fry-up with british products (none of that horrible European streaky bacon stuff!) and the bar is open 24hours with a good selection of drinks and snacks. Location wise i thought it was ideal, it's only a 5min walk into Palma Nova which has loads of shops, bars and restaurants - and about 20min-30min walk to Magaluf, where all the clubs etc are obviously! So yeah overall this place is spot on for the price, and as long as you're not expecting luxury! Only thing i would change is putting Air Con in the rooms as the fan does pretty much naff all and it does get very warm at night."

Better then expected
"Stayed here last week, i have to admit we were abit worried after all the bad reviews however we were both pleasantly suprised. Room was simple but very clean and value for money. Only problem was lack of air conditioning however i have stayed at hotels with hire star ratings and price tags with the same problem so this hotel is value for money. The staff were very friendly on the whole apart from a rather moody bar tender who seemed to be working 24/7. The hotel has very convenient location and i would defently stay here again."

For the price very good
"For the price i paid and the fact it was a 1 star it was very good. there are 4 parts to the hotel on different streets. we were in the part with no pool but it was only a short walk to the main part of the hotel. didnt have any noise at all and v quiet area at night. only a short walk <5 mins to beach and a 30min walk (6 euro) taxi to magaluf. great area and hotel was good value for money. rooms werent particuarly clean, but service was very good"

"me and my friends stayed in gabardo in june 2009 for 5 nights we expected to turn up to a complete hole but when we arrived we were greeted by lovely staff and a nice atmosphere the hotel is definately for young people and is lous but we were the girls that contributed to that so it didnt effect us at all great location really close to magaluf only a 6 euro taxi and a nice walk if you want to, some lovely restraunts in the area and a nice beach :) the hotel was very clean and we loved the chef she was very friendly because its english owned its very comforting so as this was our first holiday away we felt comfortable and at ease all in all an amazing crazy holiday prepare for no sleep and messy hangovers but a nice hotel and location to recover you !!!!"

Perfect for a short loudish break
"An amazing hotel that contributed to an amzing Stag do (my own). We were quite a noisy bunch especially round the pool, but the staff realised that we were there to have fun and not cause trouble, and because of that we had a lot of respect for them and vice versa. I would 100% reccommend this hotel to any (reasonably sensible) 20 something lads."

Long weekend away
"We booked to stay in Gabarda late Thursday night and arrived 9.00am Friday morning to be welcomed by very friendly staff who upgraded us to Martinez Aparments at no extra cost !! We were expecting a sleepless 3 nights but we were woken up only once and they werent overly noisy just laughing - no different to the 5-star hotel we stayed in in Tenerife. I would recommend this hotel to any couple wanting a cheap weekend away - we will definitely book this again. The staff were the best we have come across in any hotel abroad."
