Modern hotel - Good Location
"Good base from which to explore Palma. Was in walking distance of the old town. Hotel is modern, clean and the staff helpful and friendly. Only thing I'd say is that it was a bit pricey (â¬120 per room per night) for what you get. Breakfast was not included. There was no view to speak of but otherwise the room was well appointed with TV (no english channels) mini bar and hair dryer. If I was going back to palma I'd probably be looking for something with a little more soul."

Central, modern hotel.
"Stayed at the Palacio Avenida in August and it was fantastic. The rooms, although not overly spacious, were very modern and airy and the decoration was minimal and stylish. The bathroom was great and there was even a jet shower on the wall. The staff were business like but very helpful and the breakfast was very good, although it was just continental, which suited us fine. It is very well placed and the train to Soller is a 2 minute walk form the hotel. Overall, if you're after a modern, trendy and clean centrally palced hotel i would recommend The Palacio Avenida, great value too!"

Not what we booked!!
"We had originally booked the UR De San Miguel Hotel, but as a previous reviewer remarked we were given the same excuses of overbooking and burst pipes. I think this must happen regularly. The Palacio Avenida was nice but just not what we booked, once we had unpacked we just did not want the bother of packing again to move back to San Miguel Hotel once a room became available."

Very high value for reasonable price and very good location
"I booked the hotel because of a change of a sailing trip for one night at the same day I checked in. The price was 80 Euro for a single room [ without breakfast ] I arrived at the hotel two hours after I booked it. My booking was not on their server yet but the very friendly person at the reception said I could leave my luggage in the hotel. The room was ready at 3 pm. For me the most important things were: - very friendly people at the reception - room with brand new interior [ large bed with very good matraces, leather chairs, sofas, dark furniture, a lot of glas in the bath room, high quality water tabs, shower with massage option, enough towels, very extensive beauty kit, mini bar ] - state of the art technical features [ FREE wifi with excellent high speed internet access flat screen TV, self explaining air condition control, very silent, mini bar, the posibility to dimm the room light etc. ] Another very important point was the location of the hotel with - bus station to all directly in front of the hotel - the historical part of palma can be reached in two minutes. - check out until 12 am All in all: perfect"

Fantastic hotel and location
"Having read some of the previous reviews I am slightly confused. My Husband and I are seasoned travellers and have high standards. However the Palacio Avenida succeded all of these. We were delighted with the central location, as Palma is an easy to walk city with no need for taxis. Buses and trains are 2 minutes away to explore Mallorca. The room was lovely, a fantastically comfortable bed, great bed linen, superb bathroom with fluffy robes. Room was cleaned daily and linen changed as needed (put your towels in the bath and people know to change them, no need to change every day in this climate!)Air continioning is set to a mim temp however when we were there in june it was 30+ outside and our room was cool and easy to sleep in. The cafe was great for coffee in the morning and was same price as other local cafes. Also wifi worked perfectly on our PDA. If your looking for a great, modern room with comfort in a central location then this is the hotel for you. IWhen we go back to Palma I know where we will be staying..."

"This hotel was a real find. I understand it has only been open since January and we were able to get a reduced rate as an opening offer. The rooms are very modern and the staff are friendly and helpful. In terms of location it's about 15 min walk to the centre of the old town. There are also of plenty shops and department stores nearby. The transport links are excellent. If you are arriving by plane, take the No.1 bus and it stops out the front of the hotel (Placa Espanol). The Trip takes about 15 minutes. If you'd prefer a taxi, it cost us 15 euros at 11pm on a Friday night. If you're heading to the beach, take the No.3 bus towards Illettes to the end of the line and you'll find a wonderful beach. Just watch out for pick pockets when you're waiting at the bus stop."

a pretty good find!
"We decided on friday to go to palma for the weekend. And this hotel indeed was a good find. We arrived early at the hotel, and they checked us in early, that was a treat. Relaxed for a bit and then took off. The location is very good. The bus from the airport dropped us just outside the hotel, which is apparently the main hub for lot of buses and trains. The rooms are decent, nothing spectacular that would make you say - WOW, but not bad at all, for the price and location."

We didn't book this hotel but finished up there.
"We also paid to stay at the Misión de San Miguel. On arrival, we were advised that due to overbooking, we had to go to the Palacio Avenida, part of the same hotel chain. In an effort to placate us, we were told that the alternative hotel was an `upgradeâ, having recently been refurbished and earning 5 star ratings. The receptionist insisted that attempts had been made to contact us the previous day to advise us of the change but we didnât receive any kind of message. The Palacio Avenida was 5-10 minutes walk from the Misión de San Miguel. It turned out to be 4 star rating rather than 5 but what was more disappointing was its location at a busy T-junction with train & bus stations nearby. This was precisely what we aim to avoid when booking. Our room was at the front of the hotel and although stylishly decorated & modern, initial concerns were with opening & closing the windows. Devices were fitted to prevent them from opening out too far but this didnât function on one of the windows â thus creating a condition where a person could easily have fallen out. Given that we were on the 5th floor, we felt it necessary to tell the duty manager. He moved us to the room next door. We had already commented on the noise level from the traffic. The only way to block it out was to keep the windows closed but this resulted in the room being intolerably hot & stuffy. We asked staff to check the air conditioning, as we were unable to adjust it ourselves. This proved pointless because there was a fault with the digital reader; besides which the system operated centrally so that individual rooms could not determine their own temperature `needsâ. After 2 nights of virtually no sleep and feeling completely wretched, we requested a move to the hotel that we had initially booked in the first place, i.e. Misión de San Miguel. We were advised that this was not possible on account of problems they had been having with the sanitation. It seemed curious that this was rather inconsistent with the original reason we could not stay there. Overbooking? Sanitation? We were offered an alternative room to the rear of the Palacio Avenida; whilst it would not have the same views, at least it would be quieter. Having checked out this room (by now the 3rd one) we found the windows wouldnât open at all. Our 4th room proved OK in that at least we could get some sleep. By this stage, we were almost too fraught and careworn to worry what the room looked like or how it was decorated. On the plus side, staff were reasonably responsive to our concerns and tried to help out where they could. However, this is not what we asked for when we booked. Would I recommend it to a friend? Well if they book the Misión de San Miguel, they are likely to end up there anyway. ` . ."

"Situated on the corner of Placa d'Espanya, the hotel is located in a converted cinema. Hotel was only opened in Jan. 2009 so rooms were spotless, and well proportioned. Our room had a view over the square. Didn't have breakfast in hotel, so can't comment on that, but overall, I'd certainly recommend hotel or return when in Palma."

Could do better!
"We had originally been booked into Hotel Mision de San Miguel but due to their problems we were moved to Hotel Palacio Avenida. The reception staff were welcoming, the location excellent and the rooms were large. However, the cleanliness was not good enough. The room was only vacuumed once during the 7 nights we were there and the towels were not changed often enough, unless prompted. Similarly, bedding was not changed nor was the bathroom cleaned well enough. Although the rooms have WiFi we could not get it to work and the wired internet connection was located in the bathroom! Can't fault the location of the hotel which is on the Placa Espagna. No need for taxi's everything was within walking distance, even the railway was less that 5 mins walk away as was the old train to Soller (which is a must visit). We did not eat in the hotel since it was overpriced. For example the sample menu was 45 euros each. Instead we ate some execellent meals in the Llotja area of the city, near Passeig Born. In short we had a wonderful time in Palma since it is such a great place. But despite the superb location of the hotel and the service being friendly enough when we next re-visit Palma we are likely to go back to Hotel Mision de San Miguel rather than Hotel Palacio Avenida. For a 4 star hotel you would and should expect better."
