just to fall in Love with
"We arrived and we greeted by a very friendly doorman who escorted us in the magnificent moorish style looby ( one of the most beautiful hotel lobbies I have ever seen). No ususal check-in procedure, we were escorted to the terrace overlooking the sea and were invited for a welcome cocktail while the usual check-in was prepared. Excellent first impression. We were then escorted to the rooms, amazing in size and views, equppied with all amenities which should be standard in a all five star hotels, such as double sinks, seperate shower, flat screen in bathroom, toilet and bidet seperate. Curtains that move with the touch of a button. Bang & Olufsen TV sets, with DVD Players, you can get a wide selection of DVD's avaiable at the reception desk. The Spa is awesome, so are the facilities, they have a Kids Club and various pools, a hotel for everyone, or actually for a few who can afford it. You can see that you are among the same group of people where money is not the issue. The service is very friendly, from profesionalism it can vary, here and there it could be more detailed, but we are not complainers, and enjoy more the hotels then looking for mistakes. All in all a fantastic spot, close to Plama and only 15 min. to the Airport."

lLovely hotel with first class spa
"This was my second visit to the hotel, having travelled there alone for a short break last year. It was my partners birthday during our stay & the hotel provided strawberries & champagne for us together with a birthday cake. The food is expensive but very good with an excellent wine list. The room was good-not one of the most expensive but comfotable & extremely well appointed. Plenty of room to sunbathe in truly magnificent grounds with an excellent pool. The spa area is wonderful-one of the best I have visited. When I travelled alone the year before I was looked after very well & nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended for single travellers & couples alike."

Suitable for all!
"We spent a long weekend at the Mardavall, which was our second stay having first stayed there in 2004. The hotel is wonderful and perfect for families with young children because they have their own pool, well stocked with inflatables so there is lots to keep them occupied and keep them away from the main pool! For adults wanting a flop there is lots of space around the main pool and large gardens with loads of parasols and loungers and one or two hammocks swinging between trees. It is very peaceful and quiet and the staff can't do more to help. We didn't see one unfriendly face during our stay. Unlike previous travellers comments we found the staff at the concierge desk extremely helpful and knowledgeable. This hotel also manages to have housekeeping staff that you never see or hear, so no trolleys being wheeled around or vacuum cleaners swtiched on. The bathrooms are exceptional, and they even supply two types of dressing gowns, one towelling and one cotton! The beds are so comfy, feather pillows and duvets which are a nice change to sheets and blankets. There are some nice touches which are unusual, like a safe with a socket inside so you can charge up your camera or phone while it is inside. A dressing table with a mirror that has a socket on one side for you to plug your hairdryer in and a switch on the other side for the lights around it! A must for anyone who has to blow dry their hair every evening. The Mardavall is well located for Puerto Portals where there are some great restaurants, and for Palma. You don't need a car for the evening it is easier to get taxis, they are not expensive. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a bit of relaxation and quiet, or for anyone with young children who is worried about kids making too much noise and disturbing others. You can't hear the children in their pool at all."

"This is not a Sheraton Luxury hotel. Front desk and concierge staff need training. The first room we were shown was not what we had requested and was still dirty from the last guest - bed not made, room not cleaned, food left in the room. Had to "produce" our confirmation letter to prove what we had reserved. Luckily, the confirmation was on their letterhead. Had to remove charges on our bill for things that were included in our package i.e. free transportation to and from the airport. The bed was NOT a luxury bed. A king was 2 twins put together as is common in Europe. My half was just a mattress and my husbands half had some sort of a pillow top. As for the 300 count sheets listed on their website - there was NO top sheet - just a bottom sheet and two heavy duvets - too much for that weather. Terrible pillows. No view in this "upgrade" room # 379. We were looking at the roof of the spa unless we went outside. We arrived with only one piece of luggage - due to British Airways - they had it for 5 days. Finally came on our second day on Mallorca. Rented a car for a day and drove to Deia and Soller. Since this hotel is a ways from Palma staff should let guests know that Palmanova is close by. We walked there. It is a small tourist area with a beach. The grounds of this hotel are beautiful and the setting is very peaceful. The food in the S'Aigua restaurant was quite good and the outdoor setting is great."

"My husband and I stayed here for three nights and had an amazing time. We were so overwhelmed by how nice the staff was and how beautiful our room was. They upgraded our room to a gorgeous suite and had champagne, roses and chocolate-covered strawberries waiting for us on arrival. The spa was magnificent! While we only paid for one treatment, we spent many afternoons just lazying around their steam rooms and waterbeds and salt/sweet whirlpools. Because the food was so expensive, we drive out to Palma most nights for dinner. Definitely rent a car. Besides feeling more independent, the best beaches and scenic towns require a car. And, the hotel's car service is extremely expensive to use. Major problem: Concierge service. The entire concierge staff was totally inept, unprofessional, and just plain ignorant on how to help guests spend the day in Mallorca. If you must use their service, always request to speak to the manager because she is the only one who can actually give good advice. We were stunned by how little the concierge staff knew about the hotel and the surrounding area. Other than that, we would highly recommend Hotel Mardavall and look forward to staying there again!!"

Great Hotel - Unfair Policies
"Like the posts say, this is a beautiful hotel and the spa is very very nice although the gym could use some free weights and more varied equipment, but it is a good "hotel" gym. The "zen" waterbed room was very nice. BUT WATCH OUT, they will "charge" you to death - everything costs there - a rollaway bed was $185 per night (150 euros); breakfast - 25 euros = $31; and if you order room service from any of the restaurants there is a 40% markup on top of all the room service fees. the spa services were also quite expensive as are drinks. one thing that was unique around the pool area was the staff bringing around cold cherrys in a bowl of ice."

A German hangover
"Wonderful location - magnificent infrastructure - helpful but misguided staff. This hotel is one of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in. However for an international hotel opened only a year ago they seem to be unaware of their market. The satellite Tv of about 30 channels had approx half spanish/ half german content - the only channels in english were cnn, sky news, nbc business and bbc world plus there were 2 arab channels. There were no English entertainment or movie channels! Nothing unusual here but the dozen german channels! the guests were mixed nationalities but predominantly english speaking as is this part of Mallorca. The hotel served german tea and on numerous occassions I was addressed in German! Astonishing in an American Hotel!"
