HOTEL PICAFORT PARK
"Its been two years since last staying at the Hotel Picafort Park and we returned yet again in July 2014. Like our previous holidays this visit was for two weeks and we found an immense improvement in everything. The hotel has a new manager that is very friendly and spends a lot of his time ensuring the guests are happy and always made himself available. All of the the staff right across the entire team were very friendly, always cheerful and nothing was to much trouble. The food was superb with all types of fresh salads, meats, fish (including squid and swordfish, etc). Dishes from Spanish tapas to English and oriental meals were available. Those who say the food has no variation need to try the place again! The poolside food had sandwiches including toasties, pizzas and hot meals. Alternatively for lunch full three and four course meals were available in the restaurant. The evening entertainment was very good and the resident duo were very professional. Bar staff were hard working and would politely send you back to where you were sitting and they brought drinks across to your table. The pool is beautiful and very clean. Those complaining about this hotel in the past need to revisit and assess this 'FOUR STAR' hotel again. We have booked and are returning in 2015 and are greatly looking forward to another fantastic two weeks of bliss!!! "

NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL
"this hotel is now a very tired hotel with poor toilet facilities,no toilets near the restaurant poor selection of main courses unless you like fatty pork or over salty fish .It says sandwiches in bar area ,not true you do not see a bite. Pool area not washed and little tables by sun beds filthy and never cleaned ,the worst Tomson gold hotel we have stayed in. Saying all that the entertainment was the best we have seen in any hotel, and the staff were very helpful and frendley. But all round never a 4 star I have stayed in better 3 star hotels than this one "

"Spent a week at hotel Picafort Park - a Thomson Gold at the quieter eastern end of Ca'n Picafort, but still within easy reach of shops and restaurants. Excellent and hard-working Thomson team. Lovely location 200 yards from the beach. Good service, food and entertainment. the serpentine pool is surrounded by lawned areas and there are plenty of shady trees if you're not a sun worshippe r. A road train stops outside the hotel and for 3 euros return takes you into the main resort. The hotel ranks alongside our other favourite Thomson Gold at Camp de Mar in the south of the island. "

Thomson Gold 4 Star NO WAY
"Having just spent a week there was not over impressed with it. General apperance it is tired and grubby outside brickwork. Bedroom again needs up dating, dust around bedside lamp horrid. Towels hard grubby and stained. Pool area very nice, sun worshippers had towels on chairs from 7 o'clock in morning!!! Hotel staff very pleasant and helpful.cleanliness around the hotel excellent. Food was good plenty to choose from eat as much or as little as you want ,presentation excellant. Entertainment it was okay one or two of the acts a bit dodgy each to there own. One of the groups that performed, there costumes were very shabby and torn however they were such talented singers it did help.Thomson staff the 2 staff on duty trying to keep everyone entertained daily were very friendly and pleasant. The reps who came on a daily basis for a few hours I wish I could say something nice and positive about them There introduction talk was read from a script with no life in it, all I can say I am glad I have no hearing problems as I would not have understood a word.No We would not go back to the hotel. We have booked another gold hotel holiday in September I hope history will not repeat itself."

"Just returned from this hotel - 22/05/11 very disappointed with our room, paid extra for a suite, was definitely not worth the extra. Food very good, staff very good, and very clean. I agree with others it does need an update and bringing up to scratch. We complained about our room on arrival as the balcony was totally in the shade, to their credit we were moved within an hour to a room that at least had some sunshine on the balcony."

Not a Thomson Gold Hotel
"We have just returned from 1 weeks holiday, I think the Hotel was a bit run down and could do with a face lift. Our room was a ground floor apartment which did'nt get any of the sun, so our rooms were a bit damp and musty. When we dressed to go out for the evening we had to air our clothes on the balcony before we were able to wear them. The food was very good but the entertainment poor. My partner and I are smokers and were made very uncomfortable by the non smokers who sat beside us even though we were out side at the smoking section"

not a gold
"we stayed at the picafort park for 2 weeks in august.a very nice hotel clean and tidy, the food is a bit samey pork chicken fish with potato and some veg the salad bar was always full. our room was cleaned daily although one day we had an invasion of ants that turned the floor black the maid came in with a can of spray that left us with sore throats for days. the rooms had TV and fridges in but the TV only showing 4 English channels not that i came on holiday to watch TV,the bathroom was clean with towels changed every day the shower was poor just a trickle and no thermostat on it so pumping cold than scolding water at you.the main shops are a 25 minute walk away not to bad walking in but always seamed a long way back the entertainment was at best very poor the warm up duo where just dreadful singing 1960s songs very badly and the comic Jed walker telling 1980s jokes. most days all the sun loungers where taken by 8am so get yours early the beach is very nice only a short walk away but this will cost you about £8 for 2 beds and a parasol. overall a nice holiday but as for gold i think this is a bronze they claim its 4 star but I've stayed in better 3 star .i would recommend the resort but not this hotel "

An Oasis Of Relaxation
"An Oasis Of Relaxation Palm trees and pine trees surround a fantastic pool, with loungers all around the grounds. People are feeling cool. Itâs Hotel Picafort Park in the sun â a chill-out space, with various options for fun. All thanks to the ebb and flow of those who are corporately always on their toes â cleaners, groundsmen, receptionists, bar and kitchen staff, waiters â all prime examples of how Thomson more than caters ! And thatâs not mentioning the Holiday reps, and the Entertainments folk, so full of âpepsâ ! Our second visit to Picafort Park, (indeed, Majorca), has been very much appreciated; and the weatherâs been a real corker ! (Written into the Hotelâs Guest Book.) [Graham Shepherd / 04.05.06.10;] "

"Would highly recommend this hotel for a totally relaxing holiday. Room light, airy and very clean with view of pool area. What a change to have more than enough sunbeds and because of the trees in the lovely grounds, more than enough shade. All hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Food, although not as much choice as other Thomson Gold, was ample and well cooked, (gained weight, but thats my fault. The first week of holiday, because out of season, there were more elderly guests (we are in our 50s) but the second week age groups were more mixed. We met lovely people, and for those that are anti-smoking, I saw noone smoking in the hotel, and think its unfair to make comments about people smoking outside at bar area. Will be returning soon."

I'm giving this hotel 4/10 which may see...
"I'm giving this hotel 4/10 which may seem harsh, but when you read on you'll see why, there are things that are important to us that will not affect other people. We are a couple in our early thirties, which normally in the gold hotels we have stayed in isn't a problem, but the age range at this hotel is more 70+ than the usual 50-65 age range we normally encounter. We met two couples who at 65 and 69 said they felt young! I must echo the point made by a previous reviewer about this hotel that it seems compulsary to smoke, the bar is non smoking, but don't be fooled, there is an indoor smoking area in reception, which was fully occupied at all times, right outside the bar entrance, which is a large open entrance, no doors, so this defeats the object of a non smoking bar, also the bar has tables outside, which you can smoke, I have no problem here, it is outside after all, but the large floor to ceiling windows are open all of the time so the smoke just blows straight in, for this reason we only went in to watch two shows in the bar area during a seven night stay. The bar staff must be commended for the service and they were always friendly, smiling and helpful. Drinks a bit pricey compared to previous gold hotels, 3 euros 10 cents for 0.5L san miguel. Evening entertainment - 1st few days: Very Poor, the staff announced upcoming acts, then in the same sentance they said that they didn't know if they were coming or not, sort of wait and see, this happened twice in one week! Two girl singers sounded more like karaoke singers, they seemed to be on most nights, although in fairness they were energetic and did try and could also play instruments. Evening entertainment - Thomson Gold team: Excellent, they tour the gold hotels on the island, luckily they came to this hotel why we were there, they are new and only been perfoming as a group for a couple of weeks but you couldn't tell, they were fantastic, seen them twice doing two different shows, managed to speak to them after one show and they were really nice people too. Reception: Helpful and spoke very good english. Rooms: Basic and cleaned daily, although if I would give 3/5 for this as they were not cleaned to the degree we are used to. Only 3 tv channels CNN, Fox, and SKY, but beware you may not be the one who controls what is on SKY, it seems that there is one remote per block, allocated on a first come first served basis, so someone else has the remote, they choose what you watch, which makes interesting viewing! The weather was bad so we did try to use the tv more than we would normally, but couldn't due to this issue. Restaurent: there are themed nights where the staff dress up, and very good they looked too, although why I don't know, as the food certainly isn't themed, maybe they forgot? The food options appeared to be repeated twice per week. My partner is vegetarian, the weather was cold and wet so she was looking forward to a hot evening meal rather than the usual salad offerings, but alas all week not a single hot vegetarian option, which was annoying, salad or bust! The lady in the restaurent asked us to come and see her the next day to 'see what they could do' - we didn't see her again! I don't see why you should have to go and ask them to knock you a meal up, i'm sure the restaurent staff are busy enough catering for everybody else, rather than being given last minute requests for other meals. The way I see it is that non veggies would/could eat veggie food, jacket potatoes, veggie lasagne etc... this was certainly the view of people we spoke to who were also dissapointed by the lacj of selection. Is has to be said that the food that we did eat in the restaurent, options permitting, was very nice, so i'm not saying it was bad food, it wasn't, just a very limited choice for those with dietry requirements. Pool Area: Clean and tidy, plenty of loungers available, you can also move loungers to the grassed area if you fancied some space, as the pool area is rather crowded, but nice to have the choice, although parasols are fixed, but plently of trees if you require shade. Reps: Only seemed interested in selling trips, didn't see them otherwise, first two days I was woken during the late afternoon siesta in my room by phone calls from them! I unplugged phone after that, I am on holiday after all! Entertainment team: The two entertainment people were good and if you wanted to get involved in activities you could, no pressure to do so, although as weather was bad, very heavy rain, one or two more activities would have been nice, there was no bingo however, although not my cup of tea most seem to enjoy this and it did seem dissapointing by it's absence. Location: Residential, quiet... ish, our room had a sea view, but there is a road between you and the sea, also the bus stops were outside our room, but not a lot of other traffic, people also seem to drive slower here so no loud cars to disturb you. Main shops/bars/ restaurents were a good 15-20 min walk away. In the resort it is 90% german, i didn't think that this would be a problem, but it seems that they don't care if you are eating your food in a bar/restaurent, they will just sit next to you and light up, which is a bit rude, i mean i know you can smoke in bars etc.. but some courtesy around those eating would be nice. So in summary if you are not bothered by smoking then this not a bad place to go, but if you are then I would choose elsewhere. "

Would defo recommend this hotel for coup...
"Would defo recommend this hotel for couples 35+. First time at Picafort Parc last year and had a gloriously relaxing time. Am booking again for 2008 just for the relaxation alone. Staff very pleasant and polite, very clean rooms, pool guys a class act in themselves...watch out for the lollypop pool guys...think he is the hotels resident entertainment during the day! Entertainment team were very good although it was quite obvious that they had their favourites (those who continually joined in)which left the rest of us feeling a bit left out. We paid too guys, it would be nice to be acknowledged! Plenty of activities during the day if you wanted to join in... If not.. No pressure. Food excellent...for veggies and meat eaters alike. Lots of choice and freshly cooked in front of you (omelettes, pancakes, crepes etc) All in all... go there ... its grrreat!"
