Aparthotel Reco des Sol
24 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"When we arrived at the Reco Des Sol it didn't look much but was a really fantastic little aparthotel. Our apartment was huge...we had a separate bedroom, living area with kitchenette and a good size bathroom...along with TWO balconies! Our main balcony looked over the bay of San Antonio which was a beautiful view. The Reco Des Sol is in a brilliant location about a twenty minute walk to San Antonio or about a ten minute walk to the Bay centre in the opposite direction. The only downside was that the maid only came twice during our week stay but all the staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English. We would definitely return!"

We'll be back
"This was our first family holidy abroad and we could'nt have chosen a better place to stay. Good location only 5/10 mins walk away from beach and numerous bars cafes. Reco is clean spacious nice pool area staff are very helpful and friendly. Of the local bars and cafes we found that Taffy Jones' menu was all you could want from good old english breakfast to a superb sunday lunch all cooked by Taffy and served by his lovely wife Katrina for whom nothing was a problem she constantly put C Beebies on the tv to keep our 20mth daughter quiet. La Kiki cafe is also recomended the salad and lasagne are superb. For the evening entertainment we regularly went to the Pink Panther for the nightly music/sport/trivia quiz and karaoke and many cocktails sold by the pint at a very reasonable 4euro served on the terrace by the very pleasant Laura. All in all a fab place for a holiday " we'll be back " most definitely."

"I was our first visit to Ibiza...wanted to do it before we were too old :-)
We were pleasantly suprised with the apt and for the bargin price it was great. It was a studio and the main and only downfall to our stay was the sofa bed we had to share! Wooden base with a foam matress isnt very comfortable, we had to use the blankets to pad it out!! The space would have been the same if we had had a double bed!
The room had a tv (not that we really watched it :-) with a few channels, a microwave/ oven, hobs and a fridge freezer. There is also a dining table inside and a patio table and chairs on the balcony which was great for meals outside and drinks in the evening. There are also 4/5 power european power sockets.
The bathroom was fine and house keeping came 3 times during our weeks stay! Which is a little hard on the towel situation but not impossible. There was a large mirrored door wardrobe and a small chest of draws and shoe rack. We do abit of furniture moving to create more space! We were on the first floor and our view was of a garden/ field which was pleasant. As for building works we didnt hear anything :-)
There is a nice bar on the first floor and lovely outside area! There is an ice hockey table for the kids (and big kids!) It is abit noisy esp in the early hours of the morning! Reception staff are very helpful with directions and other info. We did have a problem with our toilet and it was sorted within 15 mins.
The pool area is lovely and a nice base for families and couples. The bar serves food/ drinks and ice cream what more can you need :-) There are sun beds and obviously they get taken but suprisingly even at 11am there were still spaces.
The hotel is a 5 min walk to the beach and the beach cafes/ restaurants. It is in a great situation between san antonio bay and the west end. Each are about a 10/15 min walk in either direction. A lovely stroll along the beach is great at sunset and not far from a handfull of beach bars.
The sunset strip is about 25 min walk away and the westend is about 15/ 20 mins around the marina. SPA is about 10 mins away for all your self catering needs too :-)
We would definately return to this hotel, the staff team were friendly, evening entertainment is a little dissappointing but you are in Ibiza so there are everything from cafes/ restaurants to karaoke bars and nightclubs all within ewalking distance, and reco des sol is out of the bright lights so you wouldnt tell from the location. We will be booking the one bed apt next time though for added comfort. A great self catering base for a wicked holiday :-)"

reco des sol is fab hoel
"We stayed at the reco des sol from 19th until 26th of may there was a buliding site across the road from hotel however there was no work going on at any time whilst we were there. hotel rooms were clean although drains in the bathroom smealt very bad. pool bar did close at 6pm however hotel bar opened at 6pm. if you are not up early do not expect a sunbed as people were reserving sunbeds form about 8am and going down town even when there are notice up stating towels would be removed but the staff didn`t seem to bother much. Try Taffy Jones resturant had several different meals and found every one fantastic. avoid the beach house resturant like the plaque was terrible 2 of our party ended up with an upset stomach and another 2 were served WHITE roast beef and also childs chicken meal came still on the bone claim to be a british resturant when every cook and waitress is spanish. try trevors bar for beakfast you wont be dissapointed. need to have a go at the bladerunner absoulutley fantastic speed boat goes up to 70mph and then does handbrake turns and emergency stops you get very wet but well worth it. went to water park with airtours cost us 34 euro per person was the worst water park i have been to cetainly not worth the money as there is only about 5 or 6 rides and the leave you there for 6 hours gets boring after 2."

"i went to reco des sol with my four children i was put on the fourth floor an the view was a building site didnt mind that too much but when i booked it i was told i would have poolside view to keep an eye on my children.then when we used the toilet we had to put pans of water down as the system was faulty.i complained about this as the smell was making my children sick it was bad drains.i was told there was nothing wrong.in the end i complained constantly an from the day we got there on the monday we never got moved till the saturday.the place was nice but the staff were far from helpful and i wont be going there again."

"We also stayed the week of 7-14 May as per our Scottish counter parts but although there were building works we could not complain as we did not travel thousands of miles to sit by the hotel pool every day! With numerous beaches around the area, the closest being about a 5 minute walk away and continuing all along the front towards San Antonio (about 20 minute walk along the front with various pubs along the way) and in the other direction where we found a much nicer choice of bar/restaurants/pubs for those with children or who do not want to spend time clubbing all the time - also cheaper this end of the Bay we could not complain about a lack of things to do or see. Bukaneers bar - the best with great friendly staff who made you feel really welcome. The excursions provided by Airtours were varied, unfortunately for those arriving on Sunday if you want to do the Tour of the Island consisting of a visit to the caves and vineyards with wine tasting, best you advise your rep on arrival as we missed out as we were only advised during our briefing on Monday - too late. The boat trip to Es Vedra was a great day out, cruise around island, champagne cocktail, champagne diving, stop at a lovely beach for a picnic lunch and a sing along on the way. We also did the trip the Hippy Market in Es Canara which was ok but we found two and a half hours stay there a bit long so wondered into the town to see the most spectacular views overlooking the sea. Well worth the trip for that alone. You can catch a bus from San Antonio to Ibiza town for Euro 1.55 one way and it is well worth the trip to walk through the old town exploring the tine side streets, visiting the cathedral, etc. A nice day out. We also took the litle train from San Antonio for a 20km trip through the back streets of the island, again an enjoyable trip. Stay away from Reco's BBQ as already warned as it was a disaster but you never know, they may learn by their mistakes! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful to us especially after I had my handbag snatched - ladies beware - by a cyclist! Let your man walk on the road side or leave your bag at home. There was a children's playground at the hotel too with a swing and slide - not much but at least something. We would stay there again as it was within wallking distance of everything we required to have a lovely holiday.

Beware Building Works!
"We booked to stay at the Reco Des Sol apartments from 7 May 2006 for 7 nights and lasted 2 nights before demanding to be moved by Airtours. The accommodation in itself is lovely, nice rooms, spotlessly clean with nice decor, nice pool area etc...so what's the problem I hear you say?
The problem is that there are major building works going on less than 100m from the pool area, constant banging, drilling, sirens, dust etc all day....from 7am until 7pm to be precise. We just couldn't relax at the nice pool area which was regularly overhung by a crane when building materials were being shifted.
It was such a shame because the apartments in themeselves are decent but I would not recommended them for families because there's nothing for kids to do and the pool bar closes at 6pm. All the local shops etc closed at 6pm too which was a bit of nightmare and we had to walk into San Antonio for any decent entertainment. I've attached photos of the building works for those who aren't convinced. One further word of warning though....stay away from the Reco's BBQ nights, they are a disaster and the food we received was only half cooked!!!"

Excellent hotel on San Antonio Bay
"My boyfriend and I have been to Ibiza 3 years running and this was undoubtably the best hotel we've stayed in around the San Antonio area. We stayed in a 1 bed apartment, the room looked brand new, we had air-con which wasn't advertised in the brochure a kitchenette and nice sized bathroom."

We Got ROBBED ! Please read all of this it will save you alot of pain
"PLEASE READ THIS ALL AND IT MAY SAVE YOU ALOT OF HEARTACHE !
I stayed in the Reco des sol in san antoni last weekend for a stag party. We stayed for 3 nights - 4 days. For the entire time our room was NEVER cleaned and the hotel boasts a buffet breakfast which was none existant and when you actually went down for breakfast the receptionist would make you pay 6 euro's before you entered the restaraunt and after you pay and go in you are then told there is no full buffet breakfast untill the hotel gets busier and more people book in half board, then you are offered bacon and eggs from the kitchen. There was however 2 choices of cereal and some yoghurt and croissants but no toast or beans or tomatoes or mushrooms or anything to that effect. This was just the tip of the ice berg along with the shoddy service at the pool side bar where a cheese toastie would take anything from 25 minutes to 45 minutes to actually be made.
Now let me tell you what happened on our final night. We left the hotel for our final night out at around 10pm. Upon our return at 3am we found the hotel door had been kicked off and all of our possessions had been stolen barring a few items of clothing and footwear which was strewn around the apartment. we then informed the hotel receptionist who got the owner of the hotel to come , let me just point out that they did not seem the least bit concerened or surprised about what had happened and insisted that the hotel had never experienced this kind of thing before , well i found this to be a little disturbing as upon further inspection we found the hotel door frame was very badley damaged and looked as if it had been smashed off previously and then repaird with a feww nails and some glue. Let me also just point out that the next day we actually spoke to 3 people who said their doors had also been kicked in and the frames were damaged and we also spoke to someone on the plane who was in a different hotel but told us that this sort of thing ws a regular occurance in the hotels around san antoni ibiza. Any way to get back to the hotel - so the manager phoned the police upon our insistance and it took the police 2 hours and 15 minutes to arrive and when they did they didnt speak english so we had to rely on the hotel managers word that what he was translating was what we were telling him although i doubt it was we were told that it would take a long time for all of us to go and make statements so we decided that only one of us would go and make a statement about the robbery and mention the most valuable things taken as we didnt have enough time to do it all individually as we were flying home later that morning, the manager then promised to pay for a taxi to the police station and back and escort us there so he could help with the translation and he also promised to pay for our taxi to the airport where we were supposed to be at 7.30 am. Well as soon as the police left the manager said he would only pay for our taxi there and we would have to walk back from the towns west end where the police station is situated. I may be jumping the gun a little but i am not stupid and i know when i am being scammed or conned and in my opinion we were all totally done over and as far as i am concerned the hotel was in on it i mean how convenient that upon our last night, and im sure it happened to many others , we get all of our possessions and belongings stolen and our bags and it all happenes in a certain amount of time so that we are unable to attend the police station because we are flying home a few hours later and the only people who know these facts are the hotel , do the math people. We report it but cant make statements so the hotel maintains its never had a theft and how can they not see these people entering the hotel or leaving as the door is right there in front of the desk. I would hate for someone else to have to experience this so please heed this warning, we were just lucky that our passports were not taken and we were able to get home. Mine was found where they had dropped it , my cousins was in a freinds suitcase in another room and my other freinds was in the lining of his suitcase. all in all we lost about 2-3 k of belongings which included rings , jewellerey, watches ,sunglassess, sandals, flip flops, t-shirts, shorts, jackets, aftershaves and english money and euro's which they put into my cousins holdall and stole along with his underwear and all his clothes.
PLEASE STEER CLEAR OF THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS ! "

"Disappointed with our stay, rooms were fine size and well equipped kitchen, but pool area was small, hotel bar closed early, rooms were only cleaned every 3 days, no clean towels in between, hotel was very noisy at night, lots of late night partying and loud music (between 3am-8am) and staff did nothing about this, definitely would not return, "
