Hotel Playasol The New Algarb

Great holiday location
"We stayed as a family in this hotel when it was a Fiesta 3 years running and it was excellent, Just returned after a week with my wife and all though there have been some changes we still had a great time and will be returning next year. If you want peace and quiet then don't go to this hotel as there is some noise in the early hours from people returning from the clubs. But hey ho they are on holiday and are entitled to a good time. The only criticism i have is the bar staff, they all look like they need a good wash and their queue discipline is shocking. They just serve anyone without considering how long you have been waiting. Also if you buy your drinks then you get it in a glass and can if you want have a pint of beer, If you are all inclusive then you get plastic glasses and can only have a half. However they will give you 2 halves. For the price you pay this hotel is a bargain but if you dont pay for the all inclusive package then take lots of money as it is very expensive to eat and drink outside of the hotel. Overall a great place to holiday for all ages. Oh and by the way there were no kids in the hotel which was great for me and also no tacky entertainment."

"I decided to go away to ibiza this year with my mates. We had never been before and weren't sure about what hotels were best. After researching hotels I found the Algarb, where I read many positive reviews. We decided to go all inclusive, and it turned out to be great value for money! Freshly cooked breakfast, lunch, dinner with a wide variety of dishes acommpanied by drinks of your choice. There were also snacks inbetween meals just encase you were peckish. The hygiene standards were excellent, the cleaners knocked on our doors to clean our rooms every day although half the time we were asleep. The location of the hotel is right on the beach so you can be from your room to the beach in less than 2minutes. The beach is lovely, golden sand clear water no rubbish. The hotel is about a 15minute walk from one of Ibiza's best clubs Space. One thing I will point out is that this is a young persons holiday so do expect alot of noise from early evening to 1am (when everyone goes to the club) and again at 6-7-8am when they return. Apart from that the Hotel Algarb is the best hotel I have ever been to and I highly recommend Ibiza for a holiday!!! 10/10"

Lovely days-loud sleepless nights
"When we arrived at the hotel, we were initially impressed by the efficiency of the reception staff-there was quite a queue & they cleared it quickly, smiling and helpful all the time. Our room was on the 2nd floor, we opted for the lift as we had cases-the lift wouldn't stop at the 2nd floor and just went up to the top and then back down to the bottom! Our room was adequate-typical 3 star hotel room-no bells and whistles but clean and livable-we had a lovely view of the sea and ibiza town! We both thought that the food was fine-breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast was typically bacon, sausage, beans, choice of croissants etc, cheese and cold meat and bread. The chef was available to cook omeletes, although the woman chef usually made scrambled eggs instead and just pretended that that's what you wanted :-) The male chef was much better, but was always on his moblile phone and seemed a bit moody (depending on his previous onversation?). Lunch was a choice of fish, chicken or veal, pasta, a paella type dish and then either fish or meat cooked to order. The salad bar was basic lettuce, toms and cucumber with some dressed pasta salad or coleslaw on offer too. The soup was always good-chickpea and veg, chicken noodle, bean soup-a definite one to go for! Ice cream, fresh fruit and a selection of cakes every day for those with room left to sample them. Dinner was along the same lines as lunch but with extra carvery style joints of meat and fresh cooked pasta meals. Restaurant staff were all really nice and helpful as were the bar staff. The location of the hotel is really good-it's right on the beach-the walk to ibiza town is lovely and takes about 30 mins-the pool was fffreezin!! it was cleaned daily though and was only so cold as it's quite deep-if you go in the pool, then the sea, it feels like your getting into a bath :-) There were loads of sunbeds, but look for the ones without saggy middles, as some really need re-stringing. Now the bad bits--this hotel is ideally located for 'Space', so alot of the guests are 18-30's who get up at 2pm and party all night, coming in anywhere between 3am and 6am still singing, dancing, shouting and generally making lots of noise. As someone who gets up for work at 6am every weekday, I do not go on holiday to get up at the same time, so for me this was a huge problem! I cannot understand why the hotel doesn't put the party goers at one end of the hotel or on the bottom floor, but they seemed to be spread out like a noisy virus on all floors, spoiling everyone's sleep, banging on doors, screaming and shouting-then having the audacity to put the 'do not disturb' sign on their doors to ensure a good days sleep!!! It rained heavily on one of the days that we were at the hotel, and it sprung leaks like a collander!! The huge reception/sitting and bar area was strewn with blankets (the same ones that you find at the bottom of the wardrobe in your room!) to soak up the drips-it amused me, as there was something very 'faulty towers' about it, but highlighted the fact that this hotel needs some money spending on it to bring it up to scratch. In all it was a good holiday-I just wish that I'd had one good nights sleep-I wouldn't return to this hotel because of the noise at night. If you're going to Ibiza for the club scene and want a good hotel then I would recommend this hotel, but if you're going to relax and chill then spend a bit more and go somewhere else-you deserve it!!"

"I stayed in this hotel for 1 week. The hotel staff was always nice, the food was good, the drinks were great, the room was very nice, etc. The all-inclusive plan is very good. Very nice room from my balcony. Nice pool and surroundings, lots of sun chairs. The location great-near the beach. I look forward to returning to Ibiza and I would select Hotel Algarb again."

"went with two friends. hotel nice and clean. reception staff helpful.food really nice with good variety. entertainment was practically non existent unless you counted the dire attempts of staff. hotel full of german people, who are not very polite. we were a 3 girl party and the hotel is central to all shops, bars and beach.we spent most nights at british pub over the road from hotel called "big bens". we would strongly recommend that the british family with children do not book this hotel as it is not child centred at all, due to lack of any entertainment or amenities for them. we heard the hotel had changed hands recently and that is why it was brimming with german people ( let them have it )"

"The hotel is on a good location, right on the beach and was close to anything you needed. The food was brilliant, so much choice pretty much catered for every type of eater, and the staff was great. I think they did keep the rooms clean as I had the cleaners at my room like every day around 12ish. We had a lovely view from our room of the sea and the pool, so when booking ask for that view as the one they class as the sea view isn't that great. As some of the family was staying there and you had to look at some work being done and at a car park. I didn't really go into the pool as it was always very busy and all the sunbeds are normally taken The beach was charging people around 4euros for people to use the sunbeds. There is many trips you can take if you walk down the beach to the pier. I visited the town and a island, I have forgot the name but it is a lovely place, the town was okay, good if you're there to shop as there are a lot of stores, including designer stores. If you like boats you will love Ibiza town pier as there are many amazing boats which are surely owned by millionaires /billionaires! They are truly amazing. The hotel offered its own entertainment but I didn't use this as it looked cheap and not well thought out. It is better just to take a walk up the road to where everything is going on, be careful of the roads though they are dangerous, make sure you look both ways because believe you me you will get confused. There is a water park up the road , there is also a little fair thing up the road with about one good ride in but it is very expensive but hay you get a video out of it. I would definitely go again, as I only stayed for a week which was not long anuf, try it and see what you think, personally it was one of the best holidays I have every been on!!!"

"Hotel is right on the beach but it is not the best beach on the island, food was ok, but got a bored with the same things after 2 weeks, the staff in the restaurant are lovely, very friendly. The rooms in this hotel are very basic and reminded me of a cheap apartment bedroom from years ago, which is not great as it's not cheap. And after reading the reviews above I have to say that I don't think the rooms are cleaned well at all. Our balcony wasn't swept or mopped for 2 weeks and the bath wasn't cleaned greatly either, bed making was the top cover pulled over, didn't matter what the sheets were like. The pool is far too small for a huge hotel like this, the sunbeds are packed together in tight rows and some of them were a bit knackered really and a bit uncomfortable, (I only lay by the pool for 1 hour in 2 weeks). The pool area is very very busy and hard to get a bed as they all have towels on even though no-one is lying on them even though the hotel say this can't happen they do nothing about it, (as the hotel is right on the beach with no gates or security. I was convinced that some of the people around the pool weren't even staying there!) The pool is very deep which is mentioned above and was jam packed with lilo's, there were 8 in there when I was by the pool so you couldn't really get in to cool off and it was boiling, even though again the hotel say 'no inflatableâs in the pool' there are fiesta staff around the pool but they just let anything happen. Also there were a few large groups of lager louts bombing the pool repeatedly, not great really. P.S the Thomson reps are a waste of time! not interested and didn't care about a problem we had. Book direct. The hotel is in between Playa Den Bossa and Ibiza town and is served by a half hourly bus service as mentioned in the brochures, however, we never got on the bus in 2 weeks, it comes so far through Playa Den Bossa that by the time it gets to the Algarb they are packed on like sardines and it wouldn't stop for us, we walked the 2 Kilometres to Ibiza town every night which I liked anyway but not great if you don't like walking or are a bit less mobile. I have been to Playa Den Bossa loads of times but the last time before this trip was 1999 and it was really good but not too busy, now it is a cross between Magaluf/Benidorm and really was a bit to 'English city' on a Saturday night for me with all the stags and hens and big groups hanging around, the place has been a bit spoilt really from what it used to be. (you do get used to the guys and gals with their bottles of lager at 7am hanging around by the pool and in the streets after a few days) The hotels ok really but not for me, the staff are really nice, that is the best thing about the hotel, but there are much better places to stay in Playa Den Bossa than here. Hire a car and see the island yourself, it is easy as the island is so small, we went all over and my favourite place was Portinatx, Hippy market is rubbish and there weren't even any hippies there! don't do the tour operators excursions; you can do them cheaper and easily yourself. Holiday auto's was the cheapest for car hire from the UK (do go to the Hippie market as it is nice to walk around but I was expecting a bunch of hippies and it is just a normal market really) What I forgot to mention is that the hotel has a lot of 'all inclusive' guests which really bugged me as these people do not move from the hotel for 2 weeks, incase they don't get as much food and drink as they possibly can! Make the trip to Formentera. It is lush!! Best day of our 2 weeks and there is a boat company along from the Algarb, outside the Sirenis Golletta hotel that does the trip, and they'll tell you what t do where to go etc."

"This hotel was fantastic the food was superb. The staff were very polite and helpful. The pool was a little deep but there was a life guard on during various times. Playa den Bossa was only a short distance from the port of Ibiza. There are lots of shops and restaurants close by. All in all an excellent place to stay. We will certainly be back!"

"Holiday was absolutely amazing. Best hotel Iâve been too. Went for two weeks and could have stayed there for an extra month. Food was nice, always had a pizza and chips if you are fussy and had many international dishes, although had a lot of fish based dishes. Show cooking was great, had a large selection and never found any dishes were repeated during the two weeks. Outside area was stunning, large grassy area great for ball games and for the children. Always plenty of sun beds next to the pool, although the pool was a little on the deep side. The holiday entertainers were fantastic, always had games going on; darts, water polo, football, etc. Evenings were great with an outside bar, and a large lounge inside. Brilliant shows on every night. Hotel has a post box and 4 computers in it to keep in touch with people at home. Holiday overall was such an amazing experience. The hotel is in a fantastic location, and I would go back without thinking twice next year."
