Very good but could do better
"Just got back from 2 weeks at the Atlantic having last been there as long ago as 1984. Apparently it's had a major refurbishment but I struggled to see any major changes apart from a new coat of paint.
If you've booked to go here- well done, good choice. first the good.... the hotel was immacuately clean and maid service was excellent. It's well positioned and we had a side sea view from the 3rd floor (not sure how much lower floors would see as its a 5 minute walk to the beach and there are other hotels in the way). The reception area, our room and pool area were spotless. The resort has enough to keep you occupied for 2 weeks with loads of good eating places and we found prices much cheaper than a recent holiday to Portugal. The reception staff were very helpful. We had a 2 bedroom apartment for 4 and it was nice and spacey with 2 balconies and 2 bathrooms and air conditioning. The beach was pretty crowded but we always found a space. There are lots of nice bars right at the back of the beach and numerous boat trips available from the resort,-Cala Longa at 14 Euros was a decent day out with a lovely safe beach and Formentera at 32 Euros was well worth a visit if a bit expensive for a family of 4.
Now the bad... Our room was booked for 4 adults. We had 3 dining chairs at the table. We got 2 balcony chairs. The main bathroom shower had a curtain in place of where the screen had been (the screw holes were still in the wall) and emptied too slowly causing it to flood the floor. The tap was very loose. A couple of cupboard doors were hanging off their hinges- the sort of thing that happens to cheap DIY furniture- all that was needed was a screwdriver. The lock on our balcony door didn't work. the lifts are the smallest I have ever seen and can apparently take 4 people. It makes check in a bit of an ordeal as you can take one case at a time. Then a major gripe- the Pool. Throughout the 2 weeks we used the pool once.. we couldn't get near a sunbed as the area is small for the size of hotel and the number of beds reserved by towels had to be seen to be believed. In the end we gave up and spent our days on the beach.
So overall the main things are very good but the hotel maintenence needs improving. If cleanliness is your thing book it now, if you want luxury look elsewhere. 8/10"

Very Good but could be better though
"Just came back from a 10 night stay. First impressions was a very clean and tidy hotel. Maid service was brilliant and very efficient with the cleaning staff friendly. Room was a 2 bedroom apartment and was roomy but overlooked a tatty carpark in a neighbouring complex so a spoilt view. Staff in general are a little hit and miss. Some were great and some were just functional in their jobs (no smile or chat). Complaints take 2 -3 attempts to get anything done like leaking shower (still was not fixed after 3 requests). Food is bordering on canteen quality and some dishes look recycled from previous sittings during day. Pool area is very clean but snack and drink bar located inside and they moan if you go in wet so why have the bar inside when most people are in the pool outside? Evening entertainment is typical holiday camp stuff but the guys do put a lot of effort into it.Jodie and Melvin are outstanding in there input for the kids. All in all a nice hotel but a few avoidable let downs mark it down."

"Just got back from a seven day stay at Antlantic Hotel. The hotel is lovely, spotlessly clean and the staff all very friendly and helpful. Great location, only 5 minute walk to the beach and shops and restaurants. The bust stop was just 5 minutes away and you can get the local busses for a very cheap rate to go around the Island. You could also get a Ferry across to Santa Eulallia which is well worth a visit. A trip to Ibiza town and up to the Old Town is a must and well worth going to. We were All Inclusive and while there wasn't a massive selection of food, the food was very nice and always found something that I liked. The Hotel was very child friendly and they had a separate little pool and playground for the children so they were well catered for. The entertainment was not much to write home about but they tried and the staff tried to include guests in the fun. The girl entertaining the children was brilliant with them."

"We have just got back from a 10 day holiday at the Atlantic (25 August-4 September)we had a fantastic time. We had a two bedroomed apartment exceptionally clean made came in every day beautifully spacious, Carol on reception was very pleasant and helpful as were all the staff. very short walk to shops bars and beach, but cala nova beach which was a 10-15 minute walk was the best. Hired a car for 2 days and went to Ibiza old town walked up to the castle which was a killer in the heat but we all really loved it, has a drink in the restaurant at the top the views were breath taking. Went to the hippy market on Wednesday which we enjoyed bought a couple of tops and some jewellery. My husband and youngest son went scuber diving which cost 70 euros each and photos cost 25 euros worth every penny as they loved it and will do it again next year if we go back to es cana which we are seriously thinking about. The scuber instructers were Australian it was at the beach next to the hippy market, but they call to the hotel for bookings so don't miss out. Just around the corner from the hotel to the right is the Montemar cafe food very good if you want a snack lovely staff. Also Rockerfellas down to bottom to beach turn right and the music is great also internet for kids. The internet costs nearly every where about 1 euros for 10 minutes, so if you have a lap top then bring it as most bars have free wii fi if you are drinking there you have to ask them for the code to get connected. Wen loved going into a German bar opposite Rockerfellas Stuble the owner Miriam was fantastic. We went to Santa Eulalia for an indian meal it was fantastic it was called Bollywood and was on the main street where all the restaurants were."

Absolutely brilliant Holiday
"We stayed here in Sept '09 for 14 nights. Myself, my husband and our 9&7 yr old grandsons. The apartment we stayed in was very roomy, and the maids made an excellent job of keeping the room spotless. The whole hotel was kept to 1st class cleanliness. We made great use of the laundry, an absolute necessity with children, & so low priced. The staff were all amazing. Yohan, Kelly & the rest of the entertainments team were incredible. Always making the daily activities enjoyable. The night entertainment was good & the children were always met with friendly faces. Thank you Yohan for the daily water aerobics & water polo. We stayed self catering, but we had several meals in the downstairs snack bar. These were reasonably priced and always good, & generous. We will be returning to these apartments, probably next year. Es Cana is such a great place to stay. I'd recommend to everyone. "

It was situated near to all ammenities and you couldnt ask for anything more.Well done to the maids who changed the towels every day and made the beds everyday and left the room spotless.I would definately stay there again and recommend it to anyone of any age group.Well done the "Atlantic"."

We loved it!
"We are a couple in our twenties, and stayed at the Atlantic Hotel week beginning 18th October, on a half board basis.
The Atlantic is advertised as a good family hotel and I think this is probably accurate. I was a little worried at first that we would be the odd ones out as there were only a handful couples without children. However, this turned out to not be the case and we felt very welcome and included. If you're not a fan of kids running around everywhere, this may not be the hotel for you but we didn't mind at all. The hotel was modern, spacious and clean.
The room was great, it was modern and had everything we needed, and it was cleaned daily. We didn't mind that there were not many English channels as we don't go on holiday to watch telly, but German MTV was good for a bit of background music. Although there were only two of us in our room we had two single beds and a sofa bed. We actually slept on the sofa bed a couple of times to see the sunrise, and it was comfortable and steady so I'm not sure what other people were doing to make it flip over! The windows and doors are double glazed so they block out most of the noise, we were on the second floor on the swimming pool side and slept peacefully, even when we had an early night one night.
The entertainment team were great. You couldn't fault their enthusiasm, day and night. They tried to get everyone involved, kids and adults. They did several competitions during the day (shooting, archery, pool, darts, etc.) and gave out certificates in the evening, very funny! There were party dances and various other entertainment in the evening. It was kind of holiday camp cheesey but it was a laugh and MOST people seemed to enjoy themselves, I guess if you don't like that kind of thing you can easily go elsewhere in the town. We got dragged on stage one night for a 'Mr & Mrs' sort of competition and well and truly embarrassed ourselves with how rubbish we were, hopefully no one we know saw us!
The hotel is pretty much in the centre of the town, it's a small town but has several supermarkets, souvenir shops, and a few bars and restaurants. It was the end of season and a few of the bars had already closed and others were in the process of closing so it wasn't as lively as I guess it is in peak season. That said, we drank in quite a few different bars in the course of the week. A few bars do the local lager for â¬2 a pint, which is cheaper than the hotel.
It rained a few days but we still managed to come back with quite good tans. It was warm during the day, and we only needed a jumper one breezy evening. The pool was cold but the sea was warm!
We enjoy meeting the various characters you come across on holiday, and the staff at the Atlantic were no exception. Crazy, sometimes grumpy, funny but very entertaining; from the bar staff, to the waitress in the restaurant, to the cleaners. Maybe we are weird but we find that quite entertaining!
We have been on quite a few half board holidays and realise that you're not going to get a 'michelin star' standard restaurant. I think the main fault of the restaurant, if any, was that they tried to have such a wide variety of dishes that there was clearly a lot of food leftover at the end of the day. They do use the leftovers in some of the dishes the next day but if you don't like the look of it, don't eat it, there are plenty of other fresh dishes to choose from! They could have avoided this by putting less food out but people would certainly have complained about the lack of choice. Dinner can be three courses if you're greedy enough(!) we even had a three course breakfast! (Coffee and biscuits to start, followed by full English and fresh fruit to finish!). We used the restaurant all week, we never went hungry and never got ill, we had no complaints - we were encouraged to complain by another guest, who also felt it necessary to film the food in a sort of 'undercover food inspector' way (bizarre but exciting holiday video I suppose!) but it did kind of ruin our meal.
The idea of a holiday for us is to get away from all the stresses and worries of life at home, to relax a little, to over-indulge slightly but mainly to have fun! Our attitude is; when things don't go as planned or as you hoped, the best thing to do is make the best of it and not let it get in the way of enjoying a well earned week off - rather than spending the entire week looking miserable and moaning to other guests, I guess trying to ruin their holiday too?
On reflection I think you get out of your holiday what you put into it; we had a great holiday because we wanted to have a great holiday. If you are going to this hotel, I hope you have have as much fun as we did!"

"Stayed at the Atlantic Hotel in Es Cana in Ibiza on an all inclusive basis after FIRST CHOICE informed us the hotel we HAD booked several months earlier had closed for the season! As if they wouldn't know the dates that their hotels close??
They sent us here instead. The holiday started badly after we left my 5 year old daughters bag on the bus from the airport with her Nintendo DS in! Arriving at 10pm there was nothing to do but wait till morning. The rep ROB, after much persuasion, managed to get in touch with the bus company and we had to travel about half hour by bus and cab at a cost of 35 euros to collect. I know it was our fault but I'm sure the hotel could have done something more to help.
Our 'All Inclusive' package was an absolute joke, the food was simply shocking with the SAME bits of meat and quiche type things, salad appearing 3 days after they first appeared!! Breakfast was JUST passable and edible but only fried eggs offered and disgusting looking scrambled, no boiled, soft boiled etc etc.
We were refused bottled water and ice cream for the kids on our 'all inclusive' package as they said it was not on their list of things that they offered on this basis! Some of the staff were very hostile, mainly the young women serving at the snack bar. The actual bar manager guy was great and gave us bottled water whenever possible, lovely fella. For lunch we had to pick from the snack bar menu. All well and good till you realise that there are about 3 things marked with an asterisk that you can have!! Hot Dog with chips, burger with chips and that was about it! No tuna salad rolls allowed, no salads allowed, a total joke!!
FIRST CHOICE expect your children to drink coke and fanta ALL week, good for their teeth eh! Whatever happened to promoting healthy eating and drinking with water, salads etc??
Having had a row with the assistant manageress after she complained bitterly that we tried to make up a few rolls to take out with us as we had missed breakfast, one member of the staff at reception said that the hotel was NOT suitable for all inclusive and that it should NEVER have been offered by FIRST CHOICE!
Rob the rep was about as much use as a chocolate fireguard, simply useless apart from making a phone call.
My wife and I had to sleep on a sofa bed which tipped up when you went near the edge! We went on a train ride round our part of the island and saw the place we were meant to stay at and it looked simply beautiful from the beach even though it was closed. No comparison to the Atlantic.
The actual hotel was clean, showers were good, tv ok if only 3 channels, sky news and cnn and mtv. Entertainment staff worked hard and involved mostly the guests as part of their act. Pool was nice and clean although my wife and daughter got ear infections whilst there although obviously not definately the pool. The Atlantic is probably ok for most people but only go self catering and NEVER all inclusive. We ate out at restaurants from the 3rd day onwards as the food was getting worse and staying out longer and longer! Some rotten banana desert was wheeled out the next day with crumble over it to disguise it!! Laughable almost.
You cannot really go to bed before 1200-1230am as the noise from the bar doesnt end till then.
Would I go to the Atlantic again...NO. Would I book with FIRST CHOICE again? NO!!
First Choice? More like Last Choice!"

"Been to Es Cana before and it didn't disappoint - neither did the Atlantic. Spotless well equipped studio which was cleaned every day. The pool was large and the weather excellent. Es Cana is a relaxing place and very good value for money. The Marvent still offers fantstic service and value. Had a meal at the Chinese and it was ok would not really recommend it to anyone though.
Ibiza is a lovely place and nothing like some peoples perception of clubs and all nighters its a short hop from the UK and any transfers are quick and painless. All in all top apartments in a top resort.

"Got back a week ago, had a fantastic time our 2 year old loved it. We upgraded to an appartment and it was great with a seperate bedroom that you could divide off as you needed. Room was absolutley spotless as was the rest of the hotel. We opted for half board and the food and choice was exellent. All the staff are very friendly and helpfull. The only thing we could fault was the evening entertainment, when it finally started (advertised at 10pm) it was usually good but it was not organised very well at times, sometimes there would be a long delay between the kids disco (8.30-9.30) and the adult entertainment starting, but on the whole this did not stop us having a fantastic time......... We wish we were back there now!"

"Myself and my girlfriend along with our 2 year daughter visited the hotel in June, when we arrived we were very impressed with how well presented the hotel was and with how clean the rooms were found to be. The childrens pool area was excellent and there was also a play area, the bar service was excellent and served nice food, however despite their hard efforts the entertainment left a lot to be desired and we spent most of our evenings around the various restaurants and bars in Es Cana. We would love to go back and may return for our family holiday next year."
