4 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"My friend and I arrived on Saturday, 21st February to find that a carnival was in progress! The main road was closed and everyone was in fancy dress watching processions and rock bands. Fantastic atmosphere throughout the city! The hotel is in a prime position. We had a room with balcony on the top (6th) floor. Quite basic but very good for a 2 star hotel. Breakfast also basic but sufficient. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. With the balcony door closed we didn't find the traffic noise a problem at all. I would definiteley recommend this hotel for good value for money for a short break."

Loved the Hotel Rambla
"We stayed at the Rambla Hotel for 4 nights from 31st January 09 till 5th February 09. We got a lovely room on 5th floor with an enclosed balcony. The room was lovely and absolutely spotlessly clean. Lovely bathroom. We could see the Marina from the balcony. We had Breakfast in the hotel each morning. It was very basic but adequate. A few types of breads, sliced cheese and ham, butter and jam. It was included in the price. Alicante is a beautiful city. People very friendly and eating out was increadibly cheap. We didn't have a problem with the language. Everyone we encountered had a little English. Bus from Airport leaves you right at the hotel for â¬1 each way. There is no bar or restaurant in this hotel but right next door to the hotel there is a very friendly bar which we went to every night. Would definitely stay at this hotel again and we will return to Alicante very soon. Would highly recommend the hotel and the city. A lovely experience, all in all. Anne, Dublin"

Great location but very noisy.
"We stayed at this hotel at the end of January 2007. If you are getting the c6 airport bus from Alicante Airport it stops right outside the hotel. The cost of the trip â¬1. We were given a room on the second floor. One of the smallest doubles that I have ever been in, however it had an enclosed balcony that further extended the room. We noticed a strong smell of disinfectant that was masking another smell of drains. For the first two days the smell of the drains would waft about the place from time to time. After two days we weren't prepared to put up with the smell anymore and asked to be moved. We were put on the 5th. floor, a much bigger room, bigger bathroom etc and no smell. The breakfast was a joke in this hotel. The slices of bread were counted out each morning and as people took them they were replaced by the amount that they had taken. The same with the two slices of cheese and two slices of ham. A boiling kettle was left on the self service counter top but with no way of reheating the water. The dour faced young lady who looked after the breakfasts never smiled nor greeted us in the morning, just asked us our room number. She would hide in the back room and would only come out when she saw movement in the breakfast room. The hotel is located right beside the marina and old town. However the street is very noisy all night long with cars, street cleaning vehicles, etc. Was it worth â¬62 for a double with breakfast? My suggestion would be to pay a few Euro extra and get a better hotel."

Oh Dear, the weather
"We have just spent a week in Alicante (Feb/March 2005). Weather was awful, could have been in the UK. Alicante is a lovely city though. Very easy to get about, lots of bars, restaurants even for oldies like us. Trips by train and bus also easy to make. We stayed in La Rambla Hotel. As name suggests it overlloks the main street in Alicante. Great city views. Amazing value hotel. I would be surprised if anywhere in the UK could be as cheap. Certainly not big city centre hotels. Staff very friendly. They even humoured me with my Spanish. I can wholeheartedly recommend Alicante (this was our second visit) and La Rambla Hotel."
