Good city break hotel
"Good value for money, clean, beds comfy, bar food reasonable price, nice outside sitting area and inside lounges. Staff helpful. Near to start of hop on hop off bus. Good michelin one star restaurant nearby called eleven - pricey but worth it - do a lunch and get good views over the city"

"The hotel is rated 5 stars and it didnât disappoint. We got a superb deal through Expedia and stayed there for a week in July 2006.
Itâs located in a quiet area, maybe 2-3 miles north of the Baixa â the heart of the action. But this isnât a problem, as itâs less than 10 mins on the (very cheap, clean and efficient) metro. The nearest metro station, Parque, is only a couple of blocks away â two minutes walk from the hotel.
The rooms are lovely, and the ample buffet breakfasts are superb. The chocolates on the pillow each evening were a nice touch too. The staff are top notch â especially the dining room staff at breakfast who were the epitome of professionalism, and simply couldnât be faulted.
One word of warning though: donât channel-hop on the Pay-TV. Many hotels allow you 30 seconds free preview or suchlike before they ask you to type in your room number to confirm you want to buy the movie. Not the Real Palacio. As soon as you hit the pay-TV button on the handset you are billed for it. There is a disclaimer on the screen but it is in very small print at the bottom of the screen. We felt this was a real con (13 euros!).
Despite this wee glitch (and a particularly arsey and argumentative waiter who tried to make out WE were in the wrong when we complained about a meal), we would recommend this SUPERB value-for-money hotel."

"This was our first time in Lisbon. We chose this hotel based on the great reviews, and we were certainly not disappointed! Location is very good. It's close to the metro, some good cafés, El Corte Ingles and a really nice park.
Our room was very good, spacious and comfortable. It contained a minibar (expensive drinks and snacks as always), bathrobes, fresh flowers every day, chocolates every evening, a large safe (absolutely free to use) and a good selection of toiletries. Good sized TV with a lot of channels.
At first we were a bit worried about the bed, as it was very firm. However, we slept really well so I guess it must have been good. Air conditioning worked well, and added to the great comfort.
Breakfast was very good, containing a variety of fresh fruits, cereals, bread & pastry, different kinds of yoghurt, fruit juices (nothing freshly squeezed though), bacon and eggs, mushrooms, sweet rice pudding with cinnamon, small muffins, chocolate filled pancakes etc.
Staff were very polite and nice to us throughout our stay. They were very helpful, handed us a map at check-in and could always answer our questions.
Never visited the health club.
We would without a doubt return (and we'll definitely go back to Portugal)!"

Couldn't ask for more !
"I have just returned from a full weeks stay at this hotel. It was my first trip to Lisbon and the hotel was perfect. I was there for a work conference and I found the staff fantastic and helpful when it came to booking restaurants etc. There is a certain ambience about this hotel and my favorite part was the atrium in the middle of the ground floor. The rooms were very tidy and the mini bar nicely stocked. The little chocolate at night was also an added touch. The hotel is very near a nice park for a nice stroll, the lovely shopping centre and the metro which takes you to wherever you need to go. It cost â¬3.70 for a full day ticket that covered metro and bus. Taxis are cheap and the nightlife is superb. The hotel added to the success of my trip."

"just got back from a 4 day break in Lisbon and stopped at the real palacio. I agree with everyone and say a great hotel to stop at. It was very plush and absolutely spotless. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was no problem, the metro just around the corner. One night we had a taxi to the docks area which was the other side of the city and it only came to 5 euro."

"Like all the other reviews we can only agree the hotel was excellent, I especially enjoyed the chocolates on your pillow each evening. The staff were all very attentive in particular bar staff who ensured my husband had a centre seat in the bar to watch the Champions League game between Arsenal and Villa Read. The restuarant on the top floor of El Cortes Ingles is brilliant and whatever you do don't miss the Gulbenkiam Museum a short walk from the hotel a fantastic collection.
The only disappointment is yet again the thieving taxi drivers at Lisbon Airport 20 euros to get to the hotel from the airport on only 8 euros to return days later"

Very good value, extremely comfortable hotel
"We stayed in this hotel over Easter 2006. We had a great time. The hotel is out of the centre of Lisbon, but is only a short ride on the Metro. Public transport is brilliant. There are good nearby restaurants if you do not want to travel into the centre in the evening. Eating out in Lisbon is excellent, especially fish. There is a good nearby department store - El Corte Ingles (similar to John Lewis). The hotel rooms are well-equipped and comfortable, and a good size - if you're obsessed with the size of hotel bedrooms like many people on this site. Room service is efficient and reasonably priced. The buffet breakfast is also excellent with a wide choice of hot and cold food, of superb quality. Staff always helpful and polite. There is plenty to do in Lisbon, make sure to visit Belem where there are also good restaurants and a famous pastry shop. Also, make time to visit Sintra on the train. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel - the only thing I would add is a swimming pool!"

An excellent hotel
"Stayed from Monday to Friday in late March 2006. Hotel was everything we were led to believe from the Tripadvisor reviews. I had asked for a quiet room, and we were allocated one at the rear in the new section. I would agree with a previous posting that the soundproofing between rooms is superb. We never heard our neighbours despite the adjacent rooms being occupied. Breakfast was included with our Expedia deal and was fine. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Nearby Parque subway gets you into the town centre quickly. Lisbon is not the biggest capital and we found our break just right to do it justice. Plenty of reasonably priced restaurants in the centre for the evening, and we also followed the locals into cafes for hearty lunches. Also felt very safe wherever we went. Portugese very welcoming. Our only mistake was being ripped off by the taxi driver from the airport. His charge panel was hidden from view, and he didn't delete the pre-existing 10 euro charge, meaning we paid 20 euros, whereas on the return trip, the hotel booked taxi cost just 9 euros. A small upset, but it didn't spoil our enjoyment of Lisbon, and the Real Palacio is a gem."

"Considering many hotel rooms in Europe are rather small, my room at the Hotel Palacio was quite spacious and very comfortable. The staff was excellent and very helpful. I only ate dinner once at the hotel but the food was delicious and the dining experience top notch! The hotel is located within a few blocks of shopping and the subway which was very convenient for getting around. Highly recommend staying there."

"The hotel is almost new. The staff at the reception is polite with very good english. The rooms are clean and very cosy. They have turndown service with chocolates, nice touch, Breakfast is well presented with good choice, Just 5 min walk from the tube station and close the shopping complex. The price was amazing. I paid 65 euros a night with breakfast."

Wonderful accomodations for a good price
"This is a gem of a hotel, located in a quiet area outside of the busiest neighborhoods. The rooms are comfortable and quiet and service is good. The front desk staff is helpful and speak excellent English. We booked through Expedia for an amazing price of $107 per night (off-season) and would have paid 2-3 times that for the same quality in any American city.
The breakfast that was included was an extensive buffet (cereals, bread, cheese, meats, fruits, sweets...anything you would want and as much as you wanted).
We walked to the metro in the lower part of a nearby shopping area. We used a pass that allowed us access to the underground, trains and trams. It was great. It's only 20 minutes to the airport (8 euro cab fare).
The jacuzzi wasn't working when we were there, which was a bit disappointing, but we enjoyed the dry sauna."
