Marvellous accomodation & facilities
"Timeshare exchange, first time in Portugal. This accomodation is by far the best I have stayed in through RCI, and have been a member for many years. The apartment was beautifully furnished, with every dish etc you could wish for. It was cleaned and bed linen changed every 2nd day (unusual for time-share). The 3 pools, indoor pool, sauna, gymn were all excellent. The gardens were kept imacuate. Only complaint is the charge for electricity 47 euros for 1 week and we had no heating or AC on !"

"OK readers, heres the low-down on this place if you're thinking of booking:- -Location - Excellent - close enough for all the shops and marina, but quiet and seculded -Security - Excellent - nobody can get into this place without a pass and the staff get to know residents and who the strangers are -Facilities - Excellent - pool, bar, indoor pool and spa all very good and exceptionally clean. Agree with earlier post that some areas are quite dated, but look beyond this as everything else makes up for this. -Accommodation - Good - very spacious, exceptionally clean, everything you need for a very relaxing and enjoyable stay -Staff - Excellent - by far and away, the staff friendliness and being helpful make this the great resort it is. -VFM - OK, yes it is a little on the pricey side if you're use to "all you can eat" all-incl; but the facililites and staff warrant the 30p more for an ice cream or 50p more for a beer than other resorts. Overall; if you want a very safe, secure, clean, spacious FAMILY holiday, this is the place. The four-seasons has a really home-from-home relaxing feel about the place. You don't feel people are looking at you and its very welcoming from the minute you step into the place. Not suitable for couples during school hols/high/peak season - this place is FULL of kids (great!). Enjoy."

"As 2 married women with extremely busy lives and careers we could never fault the the 4 seasons. we have holidayed by ourselves there for 15 years. We have been able to do this due to the safeness of 4seasons and surrounding area. For a complete chill out, pig out. we could not reccommend elsewhere. The staff are so friendly and attentive and many have been there for as long as us which is testimony to 4seasons. I agree that the apartments are looking jaded but we wouldn't swap our 2 bedroom chill out zone for anything. may we return many more times."

our home from home!
"We have been staying at the four seasons for the last five years, we go in Feb, July and October, and are members. We have looked at other destinations but cannot seem to find one that has everything that our family would need. Excellent Golf in the Algarve for Husband and Father, wonderful restaurants, in and around the area, great shopping, great weather and lovely people. The staff are friendly and have become friends, the management are very accommodating. The rooms maybe are not boutique style and ultra modern, but they are clean, huge and have a welcoming feel that many new hotels do not, and the minute we walk in the door we feel at home. The area is peaceful and we meet up with many other guests who travel there each year, our children have made many friends all over the uk and portugal. There is much more to the algarve than just vilamoura, hire a car and visit the mountains and other towns such as tavira, lagos, loule and alte, but the peaceful area that the four seasons is situated in makes it a welcome oasis after a busy day sightseeing or on the beach. Taxis to the marina are cheap, £3-4 euros for those who want to have a drink on an evening, the walk is about 15-20 mins depending on ability and whether you have small children with you. All in all this provides us with a perfect getaway, until we can afford to relocate there for good in a few years!"

"Just returned having spent a week at this resort. Located an easy 25 minute drive from Faro Airport (not sure how one of the earlier contributors managed it in 15 minutes ! ). Located at the back of Vilamoura and its marina, set amongst private villas and another resort complex. Very quiet location, and surrounded on 2 sides by Pinhal Golf Course. Security is of the highest order, with barrier access at the front and a see through green fence all around the resort. 24 hour security on duty which makes it a very safe resort for families with young children and prevents unwanted guests just popping in and out. Our apartment had views of the golf course and central pool area. Being the 1st week in June the resort was busy and a pleasing lck of small children running about the place (nothing wrong with that but been there and done that ! ) . Apartment was 2 bedroomed and facility for drop down bed in living room. Extremely spacious, clean and fully fitted with dishwasher, oven, hob, fridge freezer, washer and drier. We opted for daily cleaning service which was available for a small extra cost. (Also possible to have a DVD installed during your stay if you prefer watching TV to the beautiful scenery) Bar service and food available most of the day and night with a restauarnt also catering for breakfast lunch and dinner. Lovely covered terrace for dining and also pool bar. 3 great swimming pools outside and one indoor pool, together with beauty salon, gym and small games room. Staff extremely helpful and all spoke excellent English. A full and varied programme of events is provided each day for those who like to participate. No problem or hassle for those who dont. Tours also avalable for those who wish to venture further afield. Played golf at several of the Vilamoura courses - Pinhal ( 2 minutes walk to 1st tee from apartment) - great course. Top of the range though was Victoria - One of the best I have ever had the pleasure to play and that includes St andrews, carnoustie, turnbury etc etc. Visited the marina most evenings and dined in several of the restaurants all overlooking the Boats. Weather was warm so all the sliding doors were open in an evening which created a great atmosphere. Not a lot else to add except to say I would highly recommend anyone looking to visit the Algarve to put this resort on their list."

vacationing at four seasons vilamoura
"We did a timeshare exchange into this resort. We had a spacious unit on the upper levels with great views of the ocean, surrounding town and of course the pool area. We found it comfortable, friendly and well furnished. Lots of swimming pools, a very good restaurant for meals which we used. Very good soups and special buffet nights for meals which were tasty and well displayed. We found the staff very helpful and friendly. Lots of daytrip excursions offered to Lisbon, Seville, Gibralter etc... golf right next door. A little train comes every day on scheduled times to go to the marina. A supermarket is located in the old town and within walking distance. We loved it here and would highly recommend to others."

Badly Needs a Refurb
"We have just returned from the Four Seasons after a week's break. I have to say that the unit that we were in, although at first glance looked to be very good, soon we found that it was actually not so. The unit was in need of a total refurbishment, not just a lick of paint. We thought it was a little cold but with the exorbitant charges the resort makes for electricity, we decided to wrap up rather than turn on the heating. I do have to say that the unit was superbly equipped and it was pleasing to be able to pick up so many TV stations. In other timeshares we have stayed in, there has been a dvd player in the unit that could be used - sadly in this one there was not. We also found the charging to be a little unfair. The resort charges for just about everything apart from the use of the pools and the sauna. I feel that they need to review this policy. By all means take a refundable deposit for the snooker table or the table tennis equipment, but dont make a charge. In all honesty, once you take away the pools, which you cannot really use in wnter, the Four Seasons does not have much in the way of amenities. Yes there was a gym and a hairdresser, but very little else. Being out of season, apart from Bar Nautica, the Old Village appeared to be closed for the winter. Fortunately the Mercado was open so we could buy some food. Vilamoura itself seems to have no soul. Maybe this was due to be being there out of season. There was no buzz to the place and unless you are a golfer, I personally cannot see any reason to spend your euros there. Talking of which, with one pound being worth less than one euro, I predict a very hard summer for the tourist industry in the Algarrve"

"My boyfriend, his parents and I went on a 10 day holiday to Vilamoura in June 2008. Location: The Four Seasons is situated about 15 minutes from the airport on a hill overlooking Vilamoura. You cannot walk to the Marina in my opinion as it is too far and very uphill. The old village surrounds the four seasons and there are some beautiful villas nearby also. All in all a very relaxing and quiet part of Vilamoura. but not much to do here! Vilamoura and particularly the Marina is more lively. Fairways Restaurant is gorgeous and the Irish Cabin Pub is great for watching matches etc... Facilities: The pool area has to be one of the best I have ever seen. It is really fabulous. Twice a day the staff even come around with fresh fruit and cold towels for those around the pool! very refreshing and a nice touch!! The bar/restaurant serves great food and an array of cocktails etc... very good selection. The bbq is ok too but perhaps a bit pricy for what u get! At times I found the entertainment to be not great but the bar is nice to have a few drinks in early before going to the Marina! The hotel also has a gamesroom but this is not great as it is in a hot basement!! but who needs a games room when it is 30+ degrees outside!? Indoor pool also fabulous although did not use it as it was too hot!! Accomodation: We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on the ground floor. Very spacious and cool. Huge bed and bath! garden with sunloungers etc steps away from the pool!! couldnt fault the apartment. Although perhaps maid service could be more frequent( only twice a week) Staff: All I can say is how friendly and helpful they were! some even knew us by name! really really good!! Golf: We played golf at the Pinhal Course in Vilamoura and Vale La Pinta in Carrvoeiro. Pinhal is very well maintained and was very well run! We finished 18 holes in approx 2 and a half hours. Lovely clubhouse also. However Vale la Pinta wasn't the best although it was considerably cheaper. Got held up by slower group in front and took almost 5 hours for a round!! Would'nt recommend! All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Four Seasons Vilamoura. Perhaps there are one or two areas which could be improved but these are minor and didn't affect our stay! The staff and the pool area are definitely the highlights!"

Having trouble staying anywhere else!
"My family and I have been staying at the Four Seasons Vilamoura for the last five years and absolutely love it. The accommodation is fantastic, particularly when you have young children. The apartments are spacious and airy and fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, oven, hob, washing machine, tumble dryer - it is a home from home. Having trouble going anywhere else!!!!"

"We stayed for a week in the off-season during December 2007 on an RCI booking. We had a huge, fully furnished and equipped 2-bedroom apartment to share with our two small children. The apartment had everything, down to the washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher! Our balcony had a great view overlooking the central swimming pool area. Since it was winter we only used the indoor pool and jacuzzi and we basically had the entire place to ourselves. This is a beautiful hotel with all guest amenities and services. It is situated in Vilamoura next to the old town, but quite a distance from the Marina itself. It's a nice walk but a rather stiff uphill walk back. Since we had a rented car it did not matter. It is a great hotel to stay in and the size of the apartments is really something! Although we stayed on a self-catering basis, it was also possible to dine in the restaurant or to order room service. Vilamoura itself is modern and not at all typical to Portugal. For that you need to go to towns such as nearby Loule, or even further to Sagres or Monchique. The closest town to Vilamoura is Quarteira (5mins by car) which has a more authentic Portuguese feel with some quaint restaurants and great pastelarias (small confectionery shops that serve coffee and truly delicious Portuguese pastries). You can also buy great seafood at the market next to the beach-side promenade. We can recommend the Four Seasons without hesitation!"
