5 Star prices, 2 star Quality
"Staying here currently. Pool is not in use as there are maintenance works being carried out, which at no stage were we notified. That's a big part of a sun holiday out the window. Building works being carried out on hotel beside us and on casino in front means daytime is very noisy and makes for a pretty unpleasant view. Batteries died on tv remote during movie, meaning we couldn't unpause, and you can't turn off the tv at all without the remote! When you hit the button on the side, it displays an error message. So our choice was to take out the card, or go to reception. We went with taking out the cars because the reception people act as though any questions or requests you have are a huge inconvenience. Lovely rooms, nice beach view, but no where near 5 star quality. Even the little fountain out front was dirty and the pavement leading up to the hotel was broken and littered with rubbish, including broken glass"

5 star dissappoinment
"We booked as a family (6)needing three rooms, hopefully rooms next to each other but ended up on the same floor but spread down the corridor. We only stayed bed and breakfast, and found most of the hot food for breakfast was more often than not only cool/warm unless you waited for it to be cooked. There were new rules apparently about clean towel and reserving sunbeds that nobody seem to follow, only one member of staff who you always had confrontation with before he met your request. Then there is a construction site, on land the hotel used to own, between the hotel and the beach which was noisy and dusty. The reception area and rooms were very nice, drinking in the hotel very expensive. I doubt I will return soon. "

Not as good as we expected!
"Coffee machine which we had to buy coffee pods if we wanted a drink,
we requested a room with a bath, which we got but because of the lay out had to step in the bath to turn on\off taps as they were behind the glass partition, dangerous , & getting out was a work of art!! Pillows were so hard too,
Otherwise all was ok with hotel, staff, food were all very good.
probably will not go again though.

Nice hotel but dangerous location
"What turned out meant to be a rewarding weekend break has left us with a nightmare memory forever . I was robbed a few yards outside the hotel knife to throat . Staff seemingly aware that t his has happens , the road to the hotel is so dark and remote
Do not even think about walking. Back at night . Service was poor as the team did not go out the way to help us as they rather played it all down .we are so disappointed with the service and the opportunity to give caution in walking in this area as it has happened before and could have been avoided .
Overall nice hotel and resort bit just need to be careful , in my books not worth going there as to experience this I hope no one needs to ever again."

Do NOT waste your money
"Having spent an over-the-top â¬2300 for a delux room with a seaview for 9 nights, disappointment is an understatement. It was supposed to be a well-earned treat but the word nightmare springs to mind. Firstly, our 'seaview' is a lateral seaview. When we tried to discuss this with the receptionist, she arrogantly told us that only superior rooms have frontal seaviews. At no point was this stated in our booking. We would have happily paid less for a yard view which is what we got. Secondly, many of the guestroom amenities as listed on the internet website are not in the room- bathrobe, slippers, bathtub, tea... I have not yet stayed in a hotel with so much false advertising. We also had to buy Internet access for the week due to work purposes which cost â¬50. This hardly ever worked, crashing every few minutes. (In fact, this is my third time to type this review as it keeps crashing but I want to warn people before its too late for others). On one day, it rained all day. We went to use the indoor pool where we were told it would cost â¬10 per person despite the fact that this is not stated on the website as incurring an extra charge. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The young staff members (probably seasonal staff) are generally nice but thats where customer service ends. One staff member constantly coughs on food while carrying it to the buffet which has obviously been extremely offputting. We have tried to speak to management on two occasions to no avail. If you are travelling to Portugal/Vilamoura, spend your hard-earned cash on a hotel that appreciates you and your business. Certainly, in the Crowne Plaza, they dont seem to care whether you return or not."

Great Location, Lovely Hotel
"Just returned from this hotel, got upgraded to deluxe sea view room, no charge.
There is a lot of music coming from next door at the beach club of a night.
Swimming pool lovely, and grounds are nice, very clean, and staff nice. Would recommend this hotel. Close to the marina, and location of the hotel is on beach."

FAB HOTEL ! NO COMPLAINTS WHATSOEVER
"We have just returned from 1 week , we were travelling with 2 kids( 5+10month). just to note we have on the last 4 years stayed at the Tivolli Marina Hotel but decided to stay at the CP as they were more than half the price cheaper !!!
We were due to arrive at our hotel at around 10.00am and I was aware that they don't start check in until the afternoon. however I phoned them the day before to let them know that we would be arriving early and if possible could we get an early check in. the receptionist was very nice and friendly and she would do her best.
When we arrived at the hotel it turned out that the woman who was checking us in was the woman I had been talking to and she had remembered our telephone conversation, she was extremly friendly and had told me that our room was ready and that we could have a look at it to see if we liked it . if not she could look at giving us another room !!!
When we went to our room it was fab, nice and big and with a seaview. it seemed to be much bigger than the other rooms on our floor we had a lovely sitting area which was turned into the fold out and also had a cot in it. even with this we still had plenty of room left and it wasn't too squashed at all . it had a nice size balcony which overlooked the pool are and the view of the sea . the only thing which was a let down was the cleaning, they forgot to empty the bin on 2 days and they didn't refill our nespresso either ( which isn't too bad I suppose but that's all I can find to compain about )
The pool area was lovely however they are extremly strict about putting towels on the beds to keep them , if they find out your are not around after 1hr they remove your towel, I saw this happen on numerous occassions, and we were at the baby pool .... when it happened it caused a huge problem there was nearly fisticuffs :) There are plenty of "FATBOYS " around the lawns which is an added bonus and they are actually very comfy -
The breakfast was very nice your usual buffet style - can't complain about it. we did stash a few extra croissants and fruit so we could have them during the day :) I found the staff very helpful when it came to getting boiling water for my baby bottles and fruit juice for her too, ( they never charged us for filling her bottle with fruit juice anytime during the day )
However just to let you know on the monday or Tuesday of our stay there was a bit of ructions in the lobby when we went down for breakfast , there was police and loads of staff members around - we were a bit concerned but we soon found out from the gossip around the pool that the builders are still owed money from the hotel so they are protesting outside the hotel. they had blocked the delivery area with a truck and had parked 2 trucks at either entrance to the hotel car park !!!!! all the workmen and trucks were still there and we left on Saturday !!! however there were police there round the clock keeping an eye. - it didn't cause us any problems but was a bit of an eyesore !
The walk to the Marina was fine, about 10 mins but it the footpaths are very narrow and in an awful state so this made the manouvering of a buggy quite difficult. - We only ate in the Marina area and we couldn't really fault it however there is a restaurant called "prime Steakhouse " which was absolutly fab it got packed very quickly they didn't supply any highchairs for babies which was a huge dissapointment as the food was fantastic, so I wouldn't recommend it on the ground of you needing a high chair
On checking out I asked if I could get a later check out due to our flight been in the evening time this was no problem at no extra charge and they allowed us to keep our room till 4pm however they said if housekeeping got to our room before 4pm we would have to vacate the room which was fine with us but we had the room until 4.30
All in all I found this hotel absolulty great. however it is not at a 5* rate yet as there is still work been done ie; indoor pool etc and miniture golf , but that didn't really effect us."

A False Start...
"We were in this hotel in last July and there were some construction work still going on. The hotel has been reconstructed and the rooms are fantastic with a stunning view. The social areas were unfinished and the pool area was being finished at the time. The service was far away from a 5 star hotel and all the staff looked unhappy and very disorganised. There were some silly rules that wont fit in a beach/holiday hotel...
The breakfast was great but the lack of personnel leaded to some waiting lines about 9h30. The parking is easy and the location is very good. There is a nice kid area with a huge pirate boat and a huge lawn to relax. The pool is superb, but the kids pool is not well clean. The bar and room service prices are absurdly expensive and the quality of the service does not correspond that absurd price. An 1,5l of water costed 5â¬ and a Nespresso 3.5â¬! Money is not a problem for me but i felt riped off!"

Very bad service, Superior double with seaview ... view on ugly city and just a bit of sea on the side
"Very bad service, unfiendly, uncapable ... we pre-orderet an extrabed for our 8 years old, they didn't put one, so we called the reception after arrival and they promised to bring one. When we came back late there still wasn' t any. So in the middele of the night we had to call reception again ... they were unfriendly and gave us a mattress from next door. While checking out they asked if everything was ok and we mentioned the missing extra bed ... they were very unfiendly again. No sorry, nothing ... wehad the impression it was our fault! The superior double rooms with seaview are a not really big and the view was over the ugly city next to the hotel and only by stepping out the balcony you can see the sea quite far away. Not really a thrill for the price. I' ll not come back!"

Fab hotel, but bring earplugs!!
"We got a great deal on this hotel. Only 117 p/n as just opened. Many 5 stars were twice this price. Hotel lived up to my expectations for a five star luxurious hotel.. Rooms lovely. All glass and marble. Beds v comfy. Beautiful bed linen/robes. 2 bottles of complimentary water, Nespresso maker, iron, relaxing wicker chair on balcony. We were in room overlooking casino/marina. Even numbers have this view, odd numbers
have view to old port of Quarteria. Frontal sea view rooms are larger with bigger sitting area/sofa bed. Can sleep 2+2. Breakfast marvellous. Can sit inside or outside on beautiful deck. Sparkling wine for bucks fizz.. Couldn't fault it. Pool area lovely. Very luxurious. Wicker recliners with thick pads. Beanbags on lawn. Lovely seperate pool for kids. also, big "pirate ship" play area for them too. Glass of wine from â¬2.50, beer â¬3.50. Lunch baguette, about â¬9. good value for such surroundings. Free internet in lobby. Overall very luxurious, stylish, and suitable for quiet lie-in-the-sun holiday. One HUGE problem however is the noise which comes from the Casino outdoor disco at night. Only about 100m away. Lots of people were complaining and staff have made complaints to police. They offered to move us but said that beach party would be going on on other side of hotel and that would probably be as bad! We had 5am taxi for 7am flight and were awake until 2 or 3 am. Despite all the fabulous qualities of the hotel, I feel that It was all negated by the inability to sleep, and,to be honest, the staff seemed unable to offer any adequate response. Its going to be an ongoing problem for them.
Recommendations :Restaurants, Akvavit (far side of marina, but worth the walk) waterside Prawn Lasagne with lobster sauce( http://www.restaurante-akvavit.com/. )
also Il Lamparo (http://www.illamparo.com/) . Hard to find a place that doesnt have tv screens around marina tho'.! Catamaran boat trip , 3 hr â¬17, Cruzeiros de Vilamoura. Used Bravotur for transfers. (â¬55 in taxi).
Basically, I loved hotel.... IF ONLY they could do something about the din. I'd say though that many of the hotels must suffer from noise as there are quite a few "outdoor" discos close to other hotels ie Tivoli Marinehotel, Vila Gale. Saw no hotel however, that could touch it for sophisticated luxury , and I did look. So my advice is "Go" but bring the ear plugs....."

Excellent hotel, brilliant location
"We were lucky enough to have a room on the 8th floor overlooking the marina with a good sea view for our three day weekend break. The marina is minutes walk away and good bars and restaurants only minutes away. Breakfast good, and evening buffet nice - but we ate on the marina too - Prime Steakhouse recommended, good prices and good views.
The pool area is a delight, the water pristine and the sunbeds plentiful and comfortable. Above the pool area are vast gardens stretching to the beach full of fatboy loungers, brilliant. There is an exit during the day to the beach which was beautifully clean and sandy.
Having stayed at the Hilton and Tivoli Victoria last year this had the same luxurious atmosphere but a better location IF you want to be in the centre of things, however it can be a bit noisy at night on the balcony. Shut your doors and enjoy the aircon though and all will be fine. The beds were incredibly comfortable and all the staff, though none could be called speedy, were polite and friendly (if you know Portugal you'll know that's a boon!). I'd go back in a heartbeat - it's lovely. The pool towels were good quality and comfortable and much better than squeezing in to your luggage. Rooms are spacious, and in our room we had lovely bathrobes thrown in. Good quality toiletries in the gorgeous bathroom too - ladies you will need to bring your own hair conditioner if you like to look after your locks - it's a two in one. Don't hesitate, just book! Used a2b transfers as algarvetaxis were fully booked - but both are good value and recommended for efficiency and good service.
Prices for food and drink pretty much what you would expect but certainly the day menu was better value than the Hilton or Tivoli - the chicken baguettes were delicious! Bar staff knowledgeable and throw together an excellent cocktail. The Marina is buzzing at night, but if you like it more laid back the beach bar at the front of the hotel is lovely, very chilled and candle lit with an excellent cocktail menu at just 6.50 euro for long drinks.

good but disorganised
"arrived,check in proceedure very good,room refurbished nice finishes,very light,unfortunatly overlooked scrubland and circus .go for a room at the front or with even numbers,overlooking vilamoura.whent half board dinner buffet very disappointing salad good as expected ,only 2 meat dishes both allmost inedible,no show cooking as advertised.food obviously cooked hours before,breakfast the same,cold meats etc fine eggs all pre cooked.no show cooking fresh eggs,ommelettes etc as advertised.when we asked at reception for an allowance against half board to a la carte they said no ,even though the dinning room staff said it was possible.pool area great huge sun parrasols unfortunatly not bolted down one blew down missing my wifes face by inches(took 3 people to lift it off her).noby bothered to ask how she was management were aware of how close she came to being badly injured but again nobody bothered to ask how she was.hotel management need to improve markedly ,tell people BEFORE they book abou the problems.it will be fine when finished."
