We stayed in what is now called Oura Vie...
"We stayed in what is now called Oura View Beach Club, it was excellent we are only dissapointed not to be able to get accommodation to stay there this year as we left it to late to book. Make sure to ask for a pass to the "strip" from the 6th floor which makes the access very easy and avoids all the hills. Fab bakers in the little shoping area between the Oura View and the beach - people queue to get in there in the morning. The staff were excellent the we had a one bed apt which was massive and even had a dishwasher (which we only used once or twice) and a dvd player for the kids. Our friends had studios which were also nice and roomy, we will book a studio the next time as we were afraid that they would have been too small with a child We are heading to the Club Praia da Oura next week (which is also fab but has no air con) and this will be our 3rd time staying there. Will be booking Oura View Beach Club once we return from this holiday. "

A great place to stay
"Our most recent visit to the Oura-View Beach Club was this time last year. We have stayed there several times and have always found it to be very good. The location is superb. Unfortunately the area of Praia d'Oura is not as nice as it was during our very first visit about fifteen years ago - these days there is far too much urban sprawl and it has become over commercialized, especially around the Strip. However, the Oura-View is situated right on the beach and it is very quiet there and really relaxing. You don't have to go the Strip if you don't want to. In all it is a very nice place to stay."

Good for kids and family
"We really enjoyed our stay at Oura View. The rooms were clean and very very spacious. A fully equipped kitchen was a plus. The bathroom was clean and spacious too. The pools were really good and the location of the resort was perfect - a walking distance from night life. I also enjoyed the beach which is at the hotels door step. This resort is great for families with kids as they have wonderful activities for kids. The service was also very friendly. I think perhaps the decor in the rooms could do with a revamp to match the reception area which is chic and modern. Over all - very pleasing stay!"

The Best Pool Ever!
"Just returned today from a fantastic holiday here. The apartment was clean and spacious, as long as you can live with the tile paintings of pots! lovely bathroom and i thought the kitchen facilities wer great. the pool was amazing, huge, with two slides and a waterfall, and a very scary looking dive platform. there was loads of loungers availible too. the proximity to the beach is wonderful, as is the view. it's also just a short walk up to the strip with a large variety of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. we particularly recommend the borda d'agua on the beach front and the Golden garden chinese restaurant, which has previously been recommended. there was the happiest man ever working there! the situation of the hotel is wonderful as its very quiet, but if you choose you can still have a wild night out and be in staggering distance from home! its also a nice walk into albufeira/"

Fantastic Relaxing Quiet
"Had 7 days here 25 feb- 4 mar, just the 2 of us. The veiw from our balcony across the swimming pool and out across the ocean was so relaxing, and the 7 days of Sun helped at this time of the year. The staff were always friendly and informative, and the building was always spotlessly clean. Made use of the sister hotel CPO which is only a short walk along the path just above the beach, past some nice restaurants, their sauna and outside jacuzzi`s were very enjoyable as the sun went down, had such a relaxing time (apart from the hills), the courtesy bus was always on time and a god send to get to and from the old town. Although alot of restaurant and bars were closed or were being maintained for the coming season, it did not spoil the holiday. Every restaurant we used served excelent food and can recommend the Chinesse Golden Garden at the bottom of the Strip, dont miss it down the alley-way, the atmosphere, decore, and peking duck to die for, perfect for that special meal. The Happy House for china buffet and Paulo`s for Italian, around the location of the Oura Praia Hotel can both be recomended. Most enjoyable and will be returning in the not too distant future."

Just returned after a beautiful two weeks here
"Date: 13th March 2007 We have loved the Oura-view (formerly Montechoro) Beach Club since our first Timeshare exchange there five years ago and have been back every year at this time. The location is fantastic with many apartments having south-facing balconies overlooking the lovely beach, which is about 2 minutes walk away! This year (Feb 24th-Mar 10th) we had the best weather so far - we had lunch on our balcony everyday last week and rarely saw any clouds! The new owners have improved the pool and are investing in the apartments. The staff are as friendly as ever and from the cleaning staff to those manning the front desk, all were helpful. There is something for everyone there at this time of year and you can watch UK football in the bar, eat in the various restuarants within a few minutes walk, or stay in and cook your own food."

Fabulous location and place
"A great place, with wonderful staff-located right on the beach after walking by the pool. I traded my time share for Oura View and found it to be the roomiest ,nicest space I've ever traded for. It's an easy walk to great restaurants and shops. When we told our receptionist we wanted to eat where the locals ate, she directed us to restaurants that were nearby, 15 min walk or less. They were all fabulous. It's a 20 min walk to the bullfight arena. I never wanted to see a bullfight in Spain because they are brutal to and kill the bull, but in Portugal they don't and the fanfare was fun. (Like going to a local suburban bullfight-I'm glad I saw it. Go to Oura View-you won't be disappointed!!!"

"Spent two weeks here at the beginning of August 2006. The apartment was excellent, with a well equipped kitchen, large bedroom and double balcony with a wonderful view of the ocean. The complex is located just yards from one of the best beaches you will find anywhere and the pools were excellent. The immediate area is very peaceful, but is only a few minutes walk from the Strip, where there is a wide variety of night life to suit all tastes. There are some great restaurants along the beach front, and value for money is quite good. I highly recommend this property."

"Stayed here this year its our second time there. We found the place to be way above average its location is superb and in the whole of our stay we only went up the awful strip just once. With the beach the pool and good resturants on the beachside we felt no need to join the scrum, I would add that if you like the heat and energy of the strip style holiday then the strip is excellent and located just to the rear of the Beach Club. The beach which is a few yards beyond the pool is sandy clean and as good as you will find although sometimes a little crowded. The pool is sensational for kids and adults alike and large enough to accomodate both. Its expensive compared to other accommodation in the area but in our opinion worth it."

been going here for the last 12 years
"Have been a timeshare owner here for the last 12 years. While the resort was one of the best in the past it is now tired. However, it has recently been bought over, and they are having an extensive investment programme over the next few years. Maintenance fees being hyped because of this. It will in my opinion bring the resort up to its original high standards. The apartments have everything you could need. Although some starting to look well used, spacious rooms, the bathrooms could be better. Entertainment is almost non existent, a piano bar, have heard that is changing. Will wait and see. With the Strip on your doorstep there is a multitude of entertainment, depending on your likes. July & August is extremely busy with native Portuguese. Used to be called the hotel of the footballers as many of the Portuguese famous footballers holiday there, even still. We do not do much in the way of cooking whilst there. There are some excellent restaurants in the area. Dom Carlos in the old town of Albufeira, not the best place to take children, choice of 2 menus and can mix and match, excellent value for money, its better to book. O Poeta at the beach end of the strip does a really good Beef Stroganoff and excellent wine list, as well as may other food choices, can be pricey. Paulos, good Italian restaurant, mid priced family friendly ask anyone for directions, the street runs paralell to the strip on the east side. Some really good Chinese food on the strip if you can stand the crowds. Some of the restaurants on the strip are awful, cannot remember all their names, maybe they have improved over the years!!! July has a high incidence of the loud, Anglo/Geman/Dutch drinking crowds, but can be avoided by going east or west of the Strip. Worth a visit."

"I can't believe nobody has reviewed this one. Ok it's a while since we stayed here but we still fondly look back at this Hotel as one of the best we have stayed in. It's run by the same people as the Montechoro Hotel at the other end of town. This one is right on the beach/coast. The rooms are superb - large balcony, twin sinks in the bathroom and separate bedroom, and furished in blue and white. Pool and poolside restaurant are everything one could expect. Evening entertainment sedate - piano bar. All in all for the money, an excellent deal. If there is a downside it has to be Montechoro itself - the strip and it is a strip - can be loud and brash. But you will always find a quite place to have a drink. The restaurants can be a bit hit and miss also - like getting your wine after your main course. However there is an excellent Chinese Restaurant close to the Beach Club with a mini zoo. Albufeira is definately worth a day trip - don't believe all the lager lout hype - it does exist - but did not affect us. I would definately return."
