Adriana Beach Club Hotel Resort
38 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at the Adriana Beach Club. The staff are very helpful, the rooms are spotless, the entertainment was excellent, the food was very good - plenty of it - a choice of fish and meat every night. The grounds and pool areas are very well looked after and the beach, which is only a 3 min walk from the swimming pool, is lovely. The only disadvantage is the French people who as pushy and rude. Apart from that small point we had a fantastic time and I would definitely go there again. Could easily be a five star hotel."

A relaxing holiday
"We have just returned from a 2wk stay at the Aquamarina and overall had a very good time (2 adults & 2kids 11 + 13). Having read some previous reviews we were a little bit apprehensive with regards to the hotel staff, but all were friendly and helpful. The resort itself is kept immaculate and the rooms are spacious and cleaned thoroughly. We had a 6.40am flight from Manchester and arrived at the hotel around 11.30am. We were lucky with the weather (red hot) but not so lucky to be told our room would not be ready until 1pm. At 1pm we were told 1.30pm and at 1.30pm we were told 2pm and at 2pm were were told 2.30! Knowing that there is an early flight you would have thought that there would be rooms available! You are given a wrist band in order to purchase drinks and enter the restaurants and key card to your room. The wrist band serves no purpose as the only way to get a drink is to show your key card. We booked a ground level room as my wife has difficulty walking/climbing stairs. Our room was in block Z - the furthest block from the main pool/entertainment area. Bizzarly you had to climb stairs upto the 1st floor, walk along a corridor and then go down stairs to get to the entrance. We had supposedly adjoining rooms. In every other hotel I have stayed in this means there is as internal door between 2 rooms. Here, it means a door that can only be locked on the inside, leading into a hallway that separates two further doors by a set of 5/6 stairs.Fine if your kids are a bit older but not so good if you have little ones. The food is very good and plentiful. The kids (and adults) have a choice of 5 flavours of ice cream to help themselves too during the day. The animacion team work there socks off trying to get people involved during the day and the early evening. Our main gripe was the fact that this holiday is advertised as a kids world holiday. The number of French over 50's clearly had this resort more of a French Saga holiday. None of them know the meaning of manners and ettiquette (children waiting in line were just pushed aside!) In the evenings there is a Mini Disco for the kids that runs from 8.30-9.00pm and a show in the theatre from 9.30-10.15pm. The main entertainment area is outside. Fine, if the weather is good. Pretty much everything winds down by 11pm. If you want to have a good party time - this isn't for you! If you want to just relax - this is the place!"

Even better than last time
"We were here for a week in Oct. 2006 and on the strength of that booked 2 weeks in May 2011 for an early holiday. Rather than repeat a description of the complex, food and drinks just read other reviews and take all the good points as read. If you've been all-inclusive before you'll know what to expect. You won't starve or die of thirst! If it was good in 2006, this time it was even better. Why?... Because new owners took over last year and have made lots of minor improvements which have added to the experience. Most noticeable was in the quality of the staff. They too were OK before and this time were outstanding. Always polite, friendly, humorous and willing to exchange a word or two even outside the complex. Quite a few "suits" around keeping an eye on things but also getting involved too. I'd love to know what happy pills they all take first thing in the morning (my friend said they're called P45s but then he's a cynic) as I'd order some for myself!! Even the grounds staff were prepared to exchange a word or two according to their abilities. Animacion staff were the best we've seen yet in their daily work and evening shows in the separate theatre. Other shows were well worth seeing too, although they repeat on a 7 day basis rather than 14. The complex is about an 8-10 minute walk end-to-end but around mealtimes electric buggies (one an 8 seater) circulate continuously which you just flag down for a ride to the dining room. (If you're not using the smaller one down near block Z and the smaller pool). A 50 seater free bus runs back and forth to Albufeira and if it fills up there's a local bus not far behind. A large contingent of Frenchies arrived during our first week too. Very noisy in the dining room with their tables for 12 or more but pretty harmless, really and good fun to people-watch. They've never heard of orderly queues like us docile Scots so our elbows were brought into play too and they didn't object. We were allocated rooms in a group of blocks outside the main complex and across the access road. At first we were undecided about that but with an electronic room key which opened a gate in the security fence (animal fence really) it was only 5 minutes to the dining room and a quieter location too which suited us. Open farmland and scrub-land surround the complex with many paths to explore on my pre-breakfast or afternoon walks (I'm not a dedicated sun-worshipper) Cliff-top paths are enjoyable too and the beach (down 92 wooden steps) is just tremendous for sunbathing or walking in the surf. A splendid place to holiday in. You could do worse than to give this place a try. "

"Excellent hotel and staff were generally helpful and kind. Whilst it was end of season (end Oct'10) most things were still running and open although they were packing things away around us! Food was generally very good although some dishes were over cooked. Sweets were the same everyday! ...but nice. Free bus ride to Albufeira was useful for a day out although there was no guarantee of getting back. When the bus was full you either had to wait for the next or pay for a taxi. Return times were 1600 and 2000hrs. The room was very comfortable and clean although you had to pay a 20 Euro deposit for the safe and again for the TV remote! no tea or coffee making facilities were in the room. A lovely beach is close by ...but you need to be reasonably fit to climb down and back up the stairs. On our last day we found out that there was a rep and a briefing on the first day which no one had told us about. Another rep mentioned that there had been problems! to find out more visit the games room and the reps meet through there. In general a very relaxing holiday and a place we would possibly visit again. It is remote and you might wish to hire a car. "

Brilliant place for a family holiday
"We have just returned from a great week's holiday in Aquamarina Beach Club with our family of 3 'children' (all in their 30s!) and their partners. The complex is situated in fantastic grounds and beautifully kept gardens in a village style. Our room was basic but clean and perfectly adequate with towels changed daily if required. The food was excellent, the choice in the main restaurant was simply amazing and beautifully presented. There are also two other restaurants which are good but with less choice. The only improvement we felt that could be made was that there were very few vegetarian choices for our two daughters. As we were all inclusive alcoholic and soft drinks, ice cream and snacks were available all day although all the bars closed at 11 pm which we felt was good as we always had a quiet night. The beach is only five minutes walk away and although there are steep steps down it was definitely worth it as there are miles of lovely clean white sand in both directions. The hotel even provided sun beds and parasols on the beach free of charge. Entertainment was good in the theatre every evening, mostly it was the animation team who put on a show. They worked their socks off to entertain the children and the adults. Activities took place all day long around the complex which is why the place is so suitable for families. Even our 30 year olds enjoyed a game of football, water aerobics and table tennis. The hotel provide a courtesy bus to Albufeira several times a day. We visited the old town (3rd stop) and it was well worth it but probably only for 2 or 3 hours. We also took a walk to Vilamoura along the beach (about 40 minutes). Another good place to visit, the marina area is great, good bars and shops. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would definitely return and recommend it to anyone."

"I went with my Mum and Step Dad, this holiday is brilliant! I really enjoyed it! Best one I have had yet and I have travelled half the world. I would most defo go back! But there was a few bad things. If you have a beach person the steps down are really bad, my mum suffered a servre panic attack because of them, they are not trust worthy. The bus to the main town if a trip and a half take a lot of water because it gets very hot on there! The shops ain't exactly amazing but they are good and cheap. Fags and Booze are expensivce so don't bother saving the room in your suitcase for them! Not worth it!Overall it wasbrilliant totally recommend! The staff are so polite! Food tip top! Entertainment mehhhh okay! If you go there have a brillaint time!"

We'll definitely be back!
"Just about everything about this hotel was excellent! We have never gone all inclusive before but will definitely be doing so again - the food was excellent and varied, the bars were manned by efficient and competent staff who had to deal with many nationalities of guests and many and varied requirements. The staff were happy, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful for the most part. A couple of small suggestions - a slightly larger tv would be handy when it's across the other side of the room from where you sleep. Also perhaps restricting games and inflatables in the smaller pool to certain times of the day - it was slightly worrying for me as I'd only just recently learnt to swim and there was only a limited area in which I was comfortable to swim. "when we booked the hoilday we were not sure what to expect as the reviews where varied but when we arrived we were more than happy the rooms were big and clean all the food was lovely and something for everyone. If you like to be close to a town this isn't for you but it was lovely and peaceful and the hotel does provide a free bus 3/4 times a day.the beach is about a 10 min walk and there are 91 steps to get to it but it really isn't that bad and it was worth it.The only thing i would say is take a kettle and some tea bags as there was nothing in the room. we would definatly return."
