wonderful hotel, great value
"The hotel was fantastic. Very clean, large modern rooms, and an incredibly helpful, polite staff. The best value of any hotel on our trip to Portugal. One of the managers, I believe his name is Nuno, really went out of his way to help us and make our stay memorable. The pools were clean and relaxing. The only slight negative is that its about a 10 minute walk to the beach. Praia da luz is also a great town, smaller and much more relaxing than Lagos, but still with alot of good restaurants and things to do."

Fantastic family run hotel
"We had heard friends say that they had stayed at a fantastic hotel in the Algarve many times and looking for a Europeon destination for July we booked directly with the hotel and some cheap Easyjet flights. I was pretty sure it would be good but having stayed at many luxury hotels around the world I was apprehensive. From the time you arrive you know it is going to be excellent and although it isn't luxurious it is probably the best hotel I have stayed in. It is immaculately maintained and nothing is too much trouble for the owners. A suite is the cheapest option with children and we had a bedroom whilst they had the sofabed and portable bed in the living room. Breakfast is the best and the choice of resturants locally excellent and so reasonably priced compared to UK - you will need a car to travel out of Luz, but don't miss Dolphin resturant in Luz, Fontenario in Espiche and O Celerio in Alamadema (book all several days in advance). If you can drive try Cafe Ingles in Silves, Florestal in the Hills, and lunch at the Cafe Atlantico right on the beach at Salema (best beach on the Algarve). Two pools at the hotel and one of the criticisms I would have of hotel is that larger one is unheated and is refreshing at best. I would recommend this hotel to anyone without exception but would caution not to go to Algarve in August when it becomes gridlocked and unbearably hot. If you have children go as soon as they finish in July and as long as you stay west of Lagos it has to be one of the most beautiful spots in the Med."

A Haven for those who like quality
"The sight as we pulled in off the early morning flight was amazing. Our room overlooking the twin pools - a gem. The cleanliness -excellent and fabric and fashion too. As a former hotel inspector, chef and hotelier perhaps a some might be concerned, not so the owners and staff. The bar beside the pool was inviting and iced cocktails did the trick in business meetings. On to more leisurely matters the stroll downhill led to the view we could see from our patio at the hotel as fronds of palms and blue sea. Going back we sampled the gift shop which surprisingly charged only 7 Euros for a straw sunhat, and 12 Euros for a childrens teddy bear that was pink and 16 inches tall. Stamps and cards are available and are posted from the hotel. The rooms are large, beds very well furnished and lights to read or to have coffee and sit out on the patio watching those early morning bathers. Breakfast. Large thick rashers of bacon, crispy potatoes, large tomatos grilled, sausages, scrambled eggs and the best fried bread that even Michael Winner would not complain at. Evening. Cocktails or wine, but the barbecue night is not to be missed at 22 Euros all in for the fiesta of sardines, grilled chicken, and other delicacies with the full table of salads and fruits. Pudding is included. The host never stopped filling my glass with red wine, so time off from medical studies and other matters to savour the moment. All in all I would say it is a very good example of customer service at its best."

Fabulous belavista da luz
"I have just returned from the Balavista da luz in praia de luz Booking Found this process to be very simple and professional. We were offered a collection from the airport for 90 euro's. Airport arrival As promised a gentle man was there to greet us, he shook our hands and introduced himself. He then carried our bags to his car and we proceeded to the hotel. The journey took just under an hour, was very smooth and the driver was very friendly. Hotel arrival Our bags were taken into reception by the driver, the journey cost a little less than stated. Outside of the hotel was very well kept and clean. Reception was large and inviting. We were greeted by a young lady who knew who we were. There was no wait to check in. We were assisted with our bags by the lady at reception, she opened our door our showed us around our room, how to use the air con etc. The hotel is a short walk down hill to the town, bars, restaurants and beach. Disabled access The hotel has full disabled access with ramps, large doorways, and lifts The Room 125 euro per night Large and spacious, with a stunning view over the pool area and into the distance I could see the sea. We had a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, a dressing table/desk, A large wardrobe and a comfortable chair, the bathroom was large with plenty of towels, soap, tooth brush, hairdryer etc and I found it difficult to get out of the shower as it was so powerful and refreshing. There was also a bowl of fresh fruit for us. The facilities The hotel has 2 pools one large and cool, one a little smaller but warm. There is a bar at the pool side. We were greeted by Jack, the bar person who had worked at the hotel for many years and the resort for 30yrs. He was always smiling, informative and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel also has an inside bar and restaurant area with seating inside or in a large conservatory area. There was a small shop whch was reasonably priced, a cyber cabin with internet access and many health and beauty facilities which I didn't get chance to use. We were told that each year the hotel hold a competition of sport and add a new sport each year, it seems many visitors return. Atmosphere Very quiet and comfortable. A nice mix of guests, a few families with children, retired and young professionals. Evening On Wednedsay evening they held a BBQ with a singer/music entertainer. It was 22euro and all sangria, wine and mixers were included with your food. The food at the BBQ was nice, there was a selection of kebabs, fresh fish, chicken, beef etc, there was also salad. After dinner the bar team, dressed in hats went around with a shot of local tipple and almond cakes. All staff were very happy to serve us, there was a nice mix of english a portugues staff. They all seem to be trained well and motivated, nothing is too much for them. Checking out We had a early start and received an early morning call. The hotel provided a continental breakfast and check out was again very quick. The driver arrived on time. I would visit this hotel again and would recommend to anyone."

"My husband, his extended family and I had a marvelous time at this hotel. The service, food, and employees were exceptional. It was my husband's birthday and free wine was offered by the hotel. We did not announce this important event but the staff picked it up from the birthdate on his passport. We are world travelers (my husband is French and I am American) and this is definitely one of the best, if not the best, hotel we have ever stayed in. It is clear the staff is well treated by the owners because they all seem so happy to be working there. We hightly recommend it. A Trip Advisor Member, Boston, MA"

"We thoughly enjoyed our holiday at the Belavista. The hotel is superb, refined yet understated. The staff without exeption were friendly and helpful, all speaking excellent english. Luz is not as developed as the majority of the Algarve, which is fine for anyone looking for a quieter holiday. We will go again and would recommend the Belavista without hesitation."

"A little gem in Prai de Luz. Nothing is too much for the staff of the hotel. It has a fabulous location. All rooms overlooking the bay. And the price is excellent. Stayed here twice now and would recommed it to everyone. It seems to appeal in the main to couples although allowances are made for children."

"The comfort, service, food and facilities are superb and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. All the staff (both Portuguese and English) were extremely friendly and it is very much a 'family' hotel. The breakfast was the best I have encountered and the weekly barbecue is not to be missed. There are plenty of sunloungers around the 2 pools and towels are provided on a daily basis. A walk to the beach takes 10 minutes but the walk back up the hill is considerably longer!"

Quality, a real treat!
"We chose the Belavista Hotel for our two week honeymoon stay. On our arrival we were treated to complimentary champaine, fresh flowers and fruit. The staff could not have been more friendly and the accomodation more clean, fresh and relaxing. We found the morning breakfast comprehensive and very civilised. To eat in the restaurant (evening) was a real delight with a fantastic high quality choice of food and smartly dressed and friendly staff. Your every wish was their command. Hotel decor was first rate almost 5-star, complemented by a luxury main swimming pool and smaller childrens pool. Sea views from the upper levels (rooms) were quite breathtaking...Well done BELAVISTA"
