Excellent and brand new
"This is a brand new resort, will be 1 year in August. The apartments are huge, very modern, large and well equipped bathrooms with jucuzzi, large living/dinning room, very well equiped kitchenette with dish washer and also clothes washer machines!
Outside, the gardens and small "lakes" are very well taken care off and look great.
External swimming pool is amazing - I loved the sunbeds IN the pool!
Indoor swimming pool also very good and open to outside. Has also a Gym and Sauna.
My only downs: the grave paths look great but not very good to walk with slippers and the bar service to the pool could be greatly improved and much more pro-active.
Overall, very nice staff, great athmosphere, excellent infrastrctures."

Beautiful resort, 5* accomodation, little quiet
"We went to Monte Santo in early June with a 9 month old and 3 year old. The apartments are stunning with everything you need. If you don't have something you phone to reception and they will provide it. The pools and kids playground are excellent great for familes with small children, in fact we only saw families on the resort.
When we went it was really quiet and after a few days that novelty wore off. We found we had the indoor pool all to ourselves and the playground. The only downside was we booked this resort as we recognised they had a hotel run kids club. This wasn't running as it was so quiet and when it does run you have to pay extra. The baby form on their website is also not up and running yet so didn't receive all of those items we 'booked'. We found the restaurant a little expensive, first night we asked for room service, 3 burgers, bottle of wine and bottle of water, 70 euro! Next day we drove to the inter marche which was fab and stocked up with loads of food and drink and filled our fridge and freezer. Most nights cooked ourselves or went into Carveiero where we found a fab Indian.
All in all, a wonderful resort we would go back. The apartments are so clean and the service is great. Most recommended."

5* Stay at the Monte Santo Resort
"Have just returned from a one week break in a two bed apartment at the superb Monte Santo Resort. Although the complex is a bit out of the way, (about a 20min downhill walk not suitable for a buggy) this is more than made up by the quality of the complex itself. Taxi ride to the resort centre is no more than â¬5 each way.
Being a family with two young children, we did appreciate the space and high standard finish to the apartment.
Both bedrooms had remote controlled air conditioning, and also a wall mounted flat screen tv. The main bedroom was ensuite, with a jaccuzi style bath tub and all the usual you would expect to see in a top class hotel. Main bathroom was the same but slightly larger in size.
Living room consisted of 2 sofa's that folded out if required into a double bed. Large flat screen tv, DVD player, stereo system. Tastefully decorated thoughout. Kitchen had all the mod cons required to make your stay as hassle free as possible. Dishwasher, Washer/Dryer, Hob, Oven, Microwave, Coffee Maker, Toaster.
Main pool was stunning, if a little on the cold/refreshing side. Toddlers had a paddling pool just beside it, and for those cloudy days, there is also an indoor heated pool with equipped gym, and sauna. There was also a playground behind the main pool for the children.
Did not have breakfast, but for lunch there was a kids menu that consisted of, Fish Fingers & chips, Chicken Nuggets & chips, hamburger & chips, various pasta dishes. Did not have dinner in the restaurant as the menu was very limited. Overall, a most pleasant and relaxing stay, and a place I hope to return to sooner rather than later.
The only drawback, was that there was no mini market on site, which meant a trip down to the resort centre to stock up on all your amenities. This might be different in the high season as there was a sign up for it, but I doubt it. Where it used to be is now taken up as a games room I was told."

Luxury and Excellence
"We have just spent an unforgetable and wonderful few days, at Monte Santo, celebrating a birthday.
This newly finished, gated resort comprises luxury villas and apartments arranged on a landscaped hillside setting around the restaurant, pools and fitness centre.
Our apartment was of the highest specification and quality and everything was explained on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble..
Meals in the restaurant were delicous and the service exactly what you would expect from this quality hotel. The staff, including the gardeners were, without exception, friendly and helpful.
The Resort, opened August 08, is a short drive from Carverio. We understood taxis were available if you wished to have a meal and drink in the town. We chose to eat in the Resort one day and out the next and so on.
Being February, there were a few residents. We did see other couples and families.
For us it was quiet and peaceful.... and the weather was wonderful....18 - 20c sunny, with few clouds.
Any downsides? Perhaps a few more trees should be planted to soften the newness of the architecture. I'm sure they will come.
Otherwise, our stay at the Monte Santo went far too quickly....a perfect break."

Unwind in the sun
"We recently spent a week at the newly opened Monte Santo resort situated near Carvoeiro in the Algarve. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment on ground level. The apartment was beautifully appointed and had stunning views over the carefully landscaped grounds of the resort. Despite it being November the sun shone every day and we had breakfast on the terrace every morning. The resort staff where extremely helpful and friendly, we would especially recommend the resort restaurant that has a lovely atmosphere, good food and exceptionally helpful staff.
We found several good restaurants outside of the resort, many within walking distance, including lots serving fantastic local fish and seafood. Carvoeiro has a wealth of shops and amenities and is a fairly short walk or drive away. We hired a car for the full week and enjoyed exploring the picturesque coast line and the mountains behind Carvoeiro. An ideal spot for those that enjoy walking with miles of stunning coastline to explore equally this is the perfect destination for those of you who simply enjoy relaxing on the beach.
As a winter escape this is a particularly great spot, in November it was warm, sunny and the beaches were virtually deserted - Paradise!"

Monte Santo "Wonderful resort"
"We have just spent a week in the wonderful Monte Santo resort. We were extremely impressed with the one bedroom ground floor apartment we stayed in. It was very spacious, well equipped with good quality fittings and a very comfortable super king sized bed.
We really loved the resort and found everything we needed there. My husband enjoyed swimming every day in either the indoor or outdoor pool and I was able to read and relax on one of the loungers. We also saw the gym although we didn't venture in!
We had two lunches outside the restaurant which we thought were very reasonably priced. On the last night we enjoyed a lovely evening meal there also. Luckily it was warm enough to sit outside again overlooking the pool which was lit up, a lovely romantic setting. The menu wasn't huge and one of the dishes was not available, but we found plenty to choose from and the food was excellent. We ate our breakfasts and a couple of lunches on the apartment terrace with a lovely view of the stream. and grounds. On a couple of occasions we walked to excellent restaurants which were just 10mins away and other evenings we walked down to Carvoeiro which takes about 20mins. There is a very good choice of restaurants there and a taxi back costs about 5 euros.
We hired a car and each day we visited one of the fantastic little coves nearby and walked along the cliff tops. We also explored some of the fishing villages and towns steeped in history. In fact we ran out of time before we had chance to see everything.
The staff at the resort couldn't have been more helpful and friendly and the service was excellent. Overall we would say that this was the best apartment we have ever stayed in and we are definitely booking to go back there next October!"

Monte Santo 'fantastic new resort'
"Just had a fantastic 10 night stay at the new Monte Santo resort in Carvoeiro. We were a bit apprehensive when we booked it as the resort only opened on 1 August and no photos were available but we were more than pleasantly surprised! The resort was amazing with a fantastic large swimming pool, lakes, streams and water features.
We stayed in a 1 bed ground floor apartment with a terrace leading to a stream - we enjoyed drinks on the terrace each night before going to one of the many good restauraunts near by.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for us.
Monte Santo is about 20min walk from Carvoeiro. We walked down to Carvoeiro on an evening and got a taxi back which was only 5 euros.
We have enjoyed staying at a couple of good hotels in the Algarve but this is the best one yet and we have already booked again for a trip in the Spring!"

"Just got back with my partner from Carvoeiro after a 7 day stay, at the Monte Santo resort in a one bedroom apartment, mid September.
The place is quite stunning, a beautiful outdoor pool area, streams and a small lake. I was told by the very friendly and helpfull staff that the landscaping is not yet even complete. The apartment itself was excellent. It was big, tasteful and had all the mod cons. The best part was a lovely elevated terrace to sit out on overlooking one of the streams - great for eating alfresco. The only downside was we were told there were rooftop jacuzzis but they were still fitting them.
Overall was a good mix of people from various countries, alot of couples, golfers and families too. An all round friendly atmosphere.
We ate in the restaurant a couple of times through the day and evening. The food was good, maybe a little pricey although the wine was very decent for the money. The only strange thing in the restaurant was the waiters were reluctant to show the menu - I could see why when I got it as it was a couple of sheets of paper. So not much choice and was strange to find a classy looking restaurant with a tatty menu. The waiter did say this would be changed shortly.
Other facilities were also good as was a decent sized indoor pool, suana, steam room and gym. The gym could do with some more equipment. Is also a tennis court and also a large kiddies play area. After walking round the complex also found another four smaller outdoor pools.
I would say to get down to Carvoeiro on foot its 20 to 25 mins depending on whether you opt for the scenic route. Taxis were between 4 to 5 euros. Is also a great restaurant called Orange about 10 mins walk from the resort - give this one a go. If you do have a car Caneiros beach is only a few mins away which is well worth a visit.
I am usually one for flagging in places to avoid but I have stayed in Carvoeiro a few times, and in some decent hotels, but this was on a different level."

"We stayed in a two bed apartment in mid August. The resort is beautiful. Apartments were top class - beautifully decorated and cleaning service with towel change every day. Pool are was gorgeous with bar service and a mini market at hand. We had lunch twice in the restaurant which was very nice. The only down side to the restaurant was the menu was not very big - as the resort was not long open when we stayed they were still developing the menu for example they had no childrens section on the menu. The staff were all very pleasant and nothing was a problem. In relation to location it is not very accessible to Carvoeiro by foot - it is at least tweny minutes walk down a very steep uneven road. Most people appeared to have hired car but opted to use taxis. 5 euro each way down to the town and we were just on a relaxing break with our children. Play area for the children was also excellent. Kids club was not up and running during our stay. Would definitely recommend this resort for a relaxing family holiday"
