50th break with the girls
"Eight of our stayed and we had a fantastic time, in our two apartments we had a twin bedded room and downstairs two pull out beds which were comfortable and had clean linen. The Kitchenette had everything we needed and we had three balconies each. We were just far enough away from the strip and near a fantastic beach. The land train was also very near which we used to get to the old town and home again at 1am. Very nice continential breakfast served on the terrace, all staff very helpful. Spent time around the pool 25 degrees every day. Only drawback bathroom was ensuite so we had to access through bedroom which was fine for our requirements."

"We arrived at the Ouratlantico at 11am after travelling since 3am and was told our room was not ready until 1pm. But after the initial moan and groan we got on with what we had, the studio was clean although the area around the pool left a lot to be desired. I found the staff very un friendly and the small supermarket within the complex was expensive. The local supermarket about 5 minutes walk on the Praia du Ora strip was excellent with a superb bakery. The pool could of been cleaner, and the guests returning at 4.30am were noisy and non courteous especially as they had the apartment above us. Overall not too bad you pay for what you get. "

"Went to Ouratlantico in April 2009. It's located near the Strip (about 5 min walk if that). Apartment was great, had one bedroom apartment with 3 balconies and upstairs to bedroom and bathroom. Only complaint was that the room was not cleaned the whole week we were there, the maid came in once to change towels, empty bin and make beds - that's it. Feel we should have had maid in to clean up, change towels maybe twice in the week etc. Not many utensils in the unit but then we didnt eat in, only breakfast. We got a good deal on price etc so was bargain. Complex was good - swimming pool etc - so if you want to be near to things but also have a bit of peace (was quiet but then it was April) - give it a try!"

"We had a few problems during our stay, the 1st being that upon our arrival, we were informed that the hotel had been overbooked, and that there was no room for us (despite us having had the room booked a few months in advance!) We were given a room in Ouratlantico's partner hotel for the night, which was a 5-minute taxi-ride away. The staff were courteous and gave us a free drink, paid for our taxi-ride, and provided our safe and television rental free-of-charge for the week when we returned, however we lost a lot of time and could not settle in until day 2! On our first night the curtain rail also fell down, leaving our studio exposed to any passers-by! We could not get this fixed until the next day when the handyman came in. The other big problem was that we were given 2 single beds when we had requested a double. We resorted to pushing them together but there was still a big gap in between the beds which was less than ideal. Having said this, the apartment was clean and spacious and the hotel is attractive with good facilities, and well-located, right next to the 'Strip' - a road full of (primarily English) bars and restaurants. Albufeira is ideal if you want to be surrounded by all things English, but not for culture vultures."

"We have just returned from Portugal and the Ouratlantico apartments and I am sorry to say that we would definitely not be returning to either again! The accommodation was described as 'high quality' in the brochure, but I must have a very different interpretation of high quality.....they were basic at best. The Pool area was lovely (although impossible to get a lounger as everyone 'reserved' them by putting towels on them at 0700am and in some cases even the night before). We were a party of 3 adults and 2 children and had 2 studio apartments, these were far from spacious, with no real beds in them, so effectively we had to sleep on couches for the week. The bath was rusty, the shower didn't work, the hob didn't work and the fridge just froze everything regardless of what temperature we set it to! Our linen was not changed once in the week, they did change towels regularly, but most days after the cleaning staff emptied the bins they didn't replace the bin liner! I found the staff to be extremely curt even rude at times ...with the exception of 2 of the restaurant staff. We enjoyed our holiday and made the best of the accommodation, but I felt I had to write this review because for the price we paid, the accommodation and service provided to us was sub-standard ....not recommended to families."

We booked our holiday with 'Ola holiday'...
"We booked our holiday with 'Ola holiday'. There was a problem with payment... charging us a slightly different amount than originally calculated but after a communication with them we managed to sort it out. We booked a shuttle from the airport to hotel but because our flight was delayed the shuttle was gone when we got there so had to wait at least half an hour for another one.. not very pleasant as we were up since 4am and hot. When we got to the hotel they had my boyfriend down by his name rather than his surname so scared us saying we didn't have a booking but it all got sorted soon after they found out what the problem was. The rooms don't have an airconditioning but wasn't a big problem even in July as it was quite cool at night and didn't spend much time there during the day but even if we did it was bearable. Rooms were cleaned daily although very basic cleaning, just mopping the floor and changing of bathroom towels. The hotel is not very far from the beach, about 10 mins walk. The ocean water was absolutelly freezing so we didn't get to swim at all but luckily the hotel had a pool so spent a lot of time there. The hotel has got a little bar where you can get chips, burgers etc. and drinks. Although a bottle of water is 4 times as much as you would pay in the supermarket and similar for other items. We shopped at the supermarket a lot anyway as had a self catering and dinned in restaurants in the evening. Prices are very reasonable, about 20 euros per person including drinks even during the main season. People in Albufeira were very friendly and helpful. There is a little road train going between the modern part of Albufeira and old town - worth going on, old town much better than the modern part, but depends what you prefer. There were many bars, restaurants and shops in both towns of Albufeira. Overally nice holiday for all age categhories, but maybe older people would prefer a bit quieter although it wasn't anything crazy. "

"Stayed at the Ouratlantico in May 2006 and going back this year. Accomodation spotless and location brillant for the old town and the strip. I agree that the pool was cold in the morning but soon warned up in the afternoon. Hope these apartments have the same high standard this year. The only thing we never had was air conditioning in our apartment although we could hire out the fans at reception"

"I've just came back and all i can say is this is the perfect location if your looking 4 a young & lively holiday. The hotel staff were very helpful & friendly even letting us move rooms till a ground floor pool apartment which was really clean and handy. These apartments seem very popular with hens & stags as there were about 4 different groups there in the 1 week although there was no bother or noise which was suprising!! The irish bar Erins Isle is well worth a visit this place is on 2 floors and packed every nite plus they do nice food. The strip is quite expensive 2 eat and it's very hard 2 get a decent steak but i'd recommend The sizzling stone which is just round the corner nicest steak i've ever had, for cheaper meals turn left out of the apartment the happy garden chinese buffet and Paula's Pizzeria are both lovely. The old town is only â¬4 ride in a taxi or take the train which is â¬4 for an all day ticket the beach is nicer in the old town and there's nicer shops!! I think these apartments are really good and would recommend them if your looking 2 b near the strip but i personnally would stay in the old town the next time as there's more 2 do."

"We stayed at the Ouratlantico the 1st week of june. First impressions was excellant. The room was clean and spacious, the grounds were well maintained and staff were freindly and helpful. The Ouratlantico is very well positioned for the Strip and beach. The Strip is around 2 minute walk out of the grounds to the right, the beach is around a 5 minute walk in the same direction and turn left at the mini roundabout. We found the food rather expensive on the Strip and i would say eat n the old town or turn left out of the grounds to the roundabout and try the Italian called Paullos, the tourist menu is well worth the money. Taxis to the Old town cost us 4 euros, the bus cost 1.5 euros but the best value on a day ticket on the tourist train and you can hop on and off all day for 4 euros and they run till the early hours. Taxis back from the old town had long ques late on. The downside, The thursday of our holiday a group of 20 lads turned up at the apartments and were slightly noisy round the pool. The friday another group of 10 lads turned up to stay. The 1st group of lads were more noisy on the friday as the were around the pool from early on drinking. As the day went on they got louder and louder. The 2nd group of males were very quiet till the night time. Around 11:30pm two of the group who were staying in the room above us came back to their apartment, slamming doors moving furnature around. about 2:30am they came back again this time arguing and slamming doors banging furnature around and at 1 point the arguing was so intense we thought a fight was about to breakout. We reported it to reception as did everyone else in our block. The 1st group of males returned around 4:30am shouting and banging around breaking outdoor furnature and they were in the next block to us. Luckily we were flying home the saturday morning and when checking out the guy behind the reception couldn't appologise enough and said 6 rooms kicked of with the 2 groups in. I felt sorry for the people who turned upon the same days as these lads for their holiday and the people who were still staying there for another week. Don't get me who the Ouratlantico is very very good, just be warned there could be mindlass idiots staying there like we had. I will not be returning because of these idiots."

"We have just returned from staying at the Ouratlantico Apartments in Albufeira and was very suprised at how nice the accomodation and complex was. The rooms were very spacious and clean with maid service 6 out of the 7 days we were there. The complex was very nice, clean and well kept and the staff were very helpful and freindly. The hotel is well located with the nearest beach about a 5 minute walk from the aparments, although i will say the road you take off the main road down to the beach is very steep and has the nickname of Cardiac Hill. The Strip is also about a 2 to 3 minute walk turn right out of the apartments. The old town is very nice with a more relaxed nightlife and is some distance from the apartments but you can get a taxi for around 4 euros, bus for 1.5 euros or the tourist train which you can buy an all day ticket for 4 euros which is good value for money and can be caught from a stop just up the strip. We caught the train as the taxi ques can get busy late on. The downside to the stay was on the thursday of our holiday a large group of lads/men (around 20) turned up to stay and were quite loud round the pool on the thursday but we thought its lads been lads, although the language was rather bad to be used in front of children who were there. On the friday a group of 10 lads also turned up to stay who seemed to be more behaved, the first group of lads were more rowdy on the friday drinking all day round the pool and around one of the rooms they stayed in. Our last night (the friday in question) was hell, some of the 2nd group were in the apartment above us and were in and out all night slamming doors and at one point shouting and arguing and i would say from the argument almost fighting at one point around 2:30am. The 1st group of lads were not much better either throwing the outdoor furnature around and breaking it. We got no sleep on this night at all. Their drunken behaviour made you embarressed to be british. We felt sorry for the people who turned up on the same day as them and the people who had another week of them. When we checked out we complained again and the guy at reception had a list of complaints about them. So i would recommend this accomodation but would say stay here at your own risk. We certainly will not be returning unless they stop the large groups. "

"My partner and i have just got back from Ouratlantico, stayed there for 2 weeks and the weather was great even in March. We stayed in a studio apartment which was very clean and spacious, everything is there that you would need. Staff were always friendly. Its just a short walk to the strip but it was very quiet at this time of year but everywhere was open. The beach is only a ten minute walk and was lovely. Would definately go back."
